Personnel, OK?
I am trying to install the Wsus 3.0 and store your database on a server-database SQL2005 SP2 remotely.
When I come on screen Database Option I choose Using an existing database server on this computer I put my <serverName> <instanceName> ai seems the message below:
[DBNETLIB] [ConnectionOpen (ParseConnectParams ()). Invalid connection.
Did I thought that all procedures on the Net, such as enabling Remote Connections, signed in sql remote machine using sqlcmd, picked up the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909801 for authentication kerberos (my authentication this via NTLM do not know why) but still did not work, someone already went through this problem?
Thanks

After installing sql2005 sp2 a simple select query to a linked server reports the following error message:
Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.
Before installing SP2 we used sql2005 without any service packs, the linked server worked fine.
The linked server is a Visual FoxPro database.
After uninstalling and installing the 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro 9.0' the issue stil remains.

Hi,
Unfortunately I'm still running windows 2000 as my development box here, since I'm unable to install so many things now, I am forced to upgrade.
I'm wondering if I can run sql2005 on my new windows vista box if I get it ? I won't go ahead if I can't so its a pretty big deal :)
I'm reading mixed answers so far from googling. Thought it would be best to ask here!
thanks very much!

Hi, pls can anyone help me out with this? I'm installing SQL2005 SP2 over an Itanium machine with W2003 SP2 but it keeps on failing on those features. Client components got installed with no problems. I've installed SQL2005-SP2 over x86 and x64 (not Itanium) machines many times before successfuly. I've been investigating this issue for several days with no luck so I'm a bit clueless at the moment. As I'm using Administrator account I think it is not file permission related.
Summary says "Unable to install Windows Installer MSP file".
let me know if further info is nedeed.
Many thanks.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
Any ideas?

Hello, everyone. I am having problems catching a data duplication issue. I hope I can get an answer in this forum. If not, I would appreciate it if someone can direct me to the right forum.
I am working on a vs2005 app which is connected to a sql2005 db. Precisely, I am working on a registration form. Users go to the registration page, enter the data, ie. name, address, email, etc. and submit to register to the site.
The INSERT query works like a charm. The only problem is that I am trying to reject registrations for which an email address was used. I put a constraint on the email field in the table and now if I try to register using an e-mail address that already exists in the database I get a violation error (only visible on the local machine) on the sql's email field, which is expected.
How can I catch that there is already an email address in the database and stop the execution of the code and possibly show a message to the user to use a different address?
Thank you for all your help.
Antonio

Ive just started getting this on a stable application thats used a datareader on millions of records.
Not sure where to got from here and I can't find anyone else whos getting the failure during the processing.
I could disable shared memory protocol but that seems extreme. I'm on Sql Enterprise 9.00.2047. Maybe the process is hammering the server very hard? Personally I've rarely ever seen SQL be the cause of an error, only user config, bad disks or power issues.
I'm running the app again with SQL Profiler capturing "standard" events.
Just need it to blow up again.
I can run the app on another machine of course and I wouldn't get Shared Memory Provider being used. Maybe I ought to do that as well. At least if the error is not really in the Shared Memory I'd have another avenue to explore.

I'm running SQL Server 2005 SP2 64bit under Windows Server 2003 64 bit

the fact that BCP continues to copy data after the error makes me believe the crash occurs somewhere else.
How can I isolate the offending table?
Can I capture the BCP commands issued?

After doing some search engine digging I found some referances to simuilar problems being caused by .net. I tried uninstalling first 3.5, then 3.0 then 2.0sp1, at which point the install worked with only one error that SQL Management studio was unable to register (A bunch of black lines) although the sql installation seems to work. I then reinstalled .net 3.5 (Which also reinstalls 3.0 and updates 2.0 to SP1. Again S!QL seems to be healthy....
My Questions are:
1) is there a better way to do this???
2) If I do it this way do you see any l;ong term problems?

I just upgraded my SQL 2000 server to SQL2005. I forked out all that money, and now it takes 4~5 seconds for a webpage to load. You can see for yourself. It's pathetic. When I ran SQL2000, i was getting instant results on any webpage. I can't find any tool to optimize the tables or databases. And when I used caused SQL Server to use 100% cpu and 500+MB of ram. I can't have this. Can anyone give me some tips as to why SQL 2005 is so slow?

I started getting this after installing sp1 on my workstation and trying to deploy to rtm machines. The components giving this error are the data readers in the data flow.

i'm trying to install MS server 2000 components and I continuously get the same error. "A previous program installation created pending file operations on the installation machine. You must restart the computer before running setup." I've rebooted 100 times, turned the machine on and off, installed other programs, etc. and stil I get the error ONLY when I try to install the components.
