Error Loading Package Failed To Decrypt Protected XML Node DTS
Nov 5, 2014
I get an error when trying to open an SSIS package from TFS using Visual studio 2014..
This is the error:
error loading package failed to decrypt protected xml node DTS:Password Key not valid for use in specified state you may not be authorized to view this information
This package has been developed by a person who left the company. I think he had admin permissions on the servers.
I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :
Key not valid for use in specified state
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS Password" with error
What's wrong with the package ? Thanks in advance.
I have a package (PackageA) with an Execute Package Task that execs PackageB. When I run PackageA I get this error on the Execute Package Task :
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
PackageB has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel. I'm providing passwords in the dtsConfig so I'm guessing I should change it to 'DontSaveSensitive'?
Interestingly, PackageA also has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel, but I don't get an error about PackageA, just on the task that runs PackageB.
Error 1 Error loading MasterPackage.dtsx: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
We run 2012 enterprise. When I open my project on a different machine than the one I used to create the project, I get the following warnings. I'm concerned about 1) checking in source from different machines, 2) what is going to happen when we run this in production. All of the project params are sensitive=false and required = true. The master package stageprototype.dtproj has no pkg params and no configs.
The project's protection level is encryptsensitivewith user key but as far as i know there is nothing sensitive in this collection of master and sub packages. I'm concerened that id I change this to dont save sensitive, I'll be looking for a needle in a haystack, specifically the thing or things ssis thinks are sensitive right now.
Warning 1 Warning loading StagePrototype.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node. Verify that the project was created by the same user. Project load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.
StagePrototype.dtproj 0 0
Warning 2 Warning loading StagePrototype.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt sensitive data in project with a user key. You may not be the user who encrypted this project, or you are not using the same machine that was used to save the project. If the sensitive data is a parameter value, the value may be required to run the package on the Integration Services server.
I,ve been searching the forum for answers to this error but with no luck:
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTSassword" with error 0x80070002 "The system cannot find the file specified.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
Setup: I'm running the packages from the SQL Job Agent - the packages are stored in the file system. The agent is using a proxy account to get the right permissions. I know this because the job has run for severel weeks without errors. The package is calling other packages and is using configuration files. It was actually more than on job that failed (with the same error) - but not all the jobs.
Now it is saying that it can not "find the file specified" - what file would that be? - I'm wondering if it is a package file or a configuration file or maybe another file. It dosn't give me any other information to where the problem is.
I am trying to run a job and when I run it I get the following error:
Description: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "PackagePassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available. End Error Error: 2008-05-06 09:37:58.32 Code: 0xC0016016 Source: Description: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "SQLPassword" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
I'm not sure what it means or why it is happening.
I have a package that runs fine however it keeps giving me this message below. Now from a previous post it mentions it is to do with the EncriptedSensitiveWithUserKey what would be the suggestion to run it as Don't save sensitive perhaps?

I have developed several SSIS packages with the last Beta of VS2005 / SQL Server CTP. After the public release I tried to uninstall the CTP-Versions to install the msdn finals but this time I got lost and was not able to satisfy the requirements of the final setup of VS2005. So I decided to install the whole pc again and after some hours I had a clean machine (XP with latest SQL Server 2005 Standard and VS2005 Professional).
Now I have tried to open my SSIS-Project but getting the following error:
Error loading ImpNetqNewsRss.dtsx: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Schlüssel ist im angegebenen Status nicht gültig.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
After some “googling” I found this thread: URL... If I’m right the solution should be to use a Package Password, but I can’t figure out where I have to go enter/change a password. I even can’t remember I that ever used a password on my old installation for a dtsx-package?
Hello all, I have read many topics about this error but it doesn't fix my packages in my particular case. The problem is that I access to a database in Oracle using the Ole DB provider for Oracle
I get that the mentioned error when I try to run a job from the agent.
1 - When I set "DontSaveSensitive" to ProtectionLevel I get this error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "ORA-01017: username/password no valid". This is normal because the connection needs a password.
2 - When I set "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey" to ProtectionLevel I get the mentioned error: "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTSassword" ..
The other options to ProtectionLevel doesn't work neither. I have tried to write the password in the field required...
I have tried many possibilities but nothing new, it doesn't work.
Does anybody have this error with Oracle as source file ???
In BI Tool SSIS Packages run fine and get data From Oracle and Save it in SQL Server.
Package Protection Level is EncryptSensitivewithPassword.
In BI tool when i open the package it ask password and then run fine.
If i change the Protection Level to Dont save Sensitive,
It does not run fine in even BI tool.
It is fine if i use EncryptSensitivewithPassword.in BI Tool and run it.
Now the problem is that i need to run this package through SQL Job.
so Job give error
"Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node because the password was not specified or not correct. Package load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information."
I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.
I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)
I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.
I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".
I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.
I created a solution with web service and web page that invoke the web service.
When my code execute: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)
I got the Error: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....
I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.
Im running the SSIS packages in an 64-bit environment.
I have SSIS packages created to import .xls files into sql tables. I now have vb.net code within which I am trying to execute individual packages whenever my code notices the .xls files being deposited within a network folder. When I try to run my code I get the error message:
Assertion Failed:Abort=Quit, Retry=Debug, Ignore=Continue at STrace.ReadTraceValues() at STrace..cctor() at STrace.Trace(String strComponentName, String strLine) at ManagedHelper.GetNextManagedInfo(DTS_Managed_INFO&nextManagedInfo)
here is my code:
Sub RunPackage(ByVal pkgCMD As String)
'
Dim app As New Application
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim pkgResults As DTSExecResult
'Dim pkgevents As IDTSEvents
'
pkg = app.LoadPackage(pkgCMD, Nothing)
pkgResults = pkg.Execute()
The error occurs during the pkg=app.LoadPackage(pkgCMD, Nothing) statement. Any idea of how I determine why the SSIS package will not load thru my vb app? It runs fine if I load the SSIS package in SSBIDS. Thanks for any help or guidance.
I had just installed SQL 2005 dev on my laptop and got an error message when I tried to create a package using the BI IDE. I received the same error using VS2005 IDE. But the project was created regardless without any packages. When I tried to create a new package in the project, I received the same error again, but with an option to view the error details.
Following is the text of the error details:
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio ------------------------------
We've just started using SSIS packages, and everything seems to be going ok.
I've recently set up a couple of jobs which just run an SSIS package every 5 minutes to collect data. These run fine 90% of the time, but intermittantly produce an error.
When using a SSIS task in the job it simply reported "Could not load Package."
I have changed these to use DTExec as I heard it gave more verbose execution results, and now I get an error like "Executed as user: NZSQLAdmin. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.1399.06 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Started: 8:25:00 a.m. Could not load package "MSDBRadiusBillingGet_RADIUS_AuthLog" because of error 0x80040E37. Description: Table/view either does not exist or contains errors. Source: Microsoft SQL Native Client Started: 8:25:00 a.m. Finished: 8:25:00 a.m. Elapsed: 0.047 seconds. Process Exit Code 5. The step failed."
So far I have not been able to find anyone else with similar errors. Whenever the package executes it seems to run fine, so this seems to be an error just getting the package to execute in the first place, and as I said it only happens internittantly.
The packages talk to a SQL2005 server using windows authentication (which I assume is inherited from the SQLAgent service user), as well as a MySQL server through an ODBC connection. The package is saved in the MSDB SSIS Package Store and uses the "Rely on Server for Security" option
Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Hi all, I've finished an SSIS Package on my computer and want to move the project into production server. I was just copied the whole files and when I load the package from production server there was an error occured, the description is below :
Error 1 Error loading 'SC2DC_Regular.dtsx' : The package failed to load due to error 0xC0010014 "One or more error occurred. There should be more specific errors preceding this one that explains the details of the errors. This message is used as a return value from functions that encounter errors.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails. . e:dw workplacesc2dc_serverSC2DC_Regular.dtsx 1 1
What's the problem with my Package, I never met this error before with the same behaviour of moving SSIS project from one computer to another. Thanks in advance
Could some one please help me with this problem... After working with the Rational Guide To Scripting SSIS Beta Preview (Donald Farmer), chapter 6 Adv uses of the Script Task.. For some reason I cannot open or create any packages now... Here's a sample of the error message:
"There were errors while the package was being loaded. The package might be corrupted. Se the error-list for details" This came with an OK-button.
Error 1 - Error loading DataTransfer.dtsx: Unable to instantiate XML DOM document, please verify that MSML binaries are properly installed and registered.

I had encountered an error on SSIS its not allowing me to create any new packages. Below is the error message. Please do help be out. This problem had occurred on my server machine

I have problem with SSIS. When I open my packages, I always get an error message which says like this: There were errors while the package was being loaded. The package might be corrupted. See the Error List for details.
And, in error list, I get this error message: Error loading DIM_BUSINESS_TYPES.dtsx: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'user'.".
But the package itself seems doesnt have any errors at all. When I try to run the package, it runs fine. Btw, I use package configuration which is stored in sql server table, including the password for connectionstring.
CREATE TABLE #Source ( Id int identity(1,1) ,categoryint ,Leaf_Node_code varchar(10) -- ,Level1_Name varchar(20) ,Level2_Name varchar(20)
[Code] ....
Here category 1 has 3 levels ,
category 2 has 4 levels , category 3 has 5 levels ,
Below is the target table, here Leaf_Node_code should populate to only for leaf nodes for each category .. Need to populate Node_id with hierarchical data
I am unable frame a sql query to handle different levels , in future #Source may have more levels .
How to handle multiple hierarchy levels .. here only leaf node should have Leaf_Node_code
CREATE TABLE TARGET_TABLE ( ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) primary key ,Node_id HIERARCHYID ,category int ,Parent_id int references TARGET_TABLE(id) ,Leaf_Node_code varchar(10) ,Namevarchar(20) )
Hello, I deployed an SSIS project to my SQL Server. The project I deployed contained two packages. One called the other. After deployment I notice that both packages are indeed in the SQL Server. However when I try to run it I get the error below. This error happens during the "Execute Package Task" and the path the error is pointing at is my local development path, not the one it was deployed to. Is there any way to fix the path? And how can I get it to deploy both packages so it knows where they are when I run it from the server?
Error 0x80070003 while loading package file "C:VS ProjectsTestingRun Codes to DBRun Codes to DBSofAid_DBRefresh.dtsx". The system cannot find the path specified.
When I try to load an SSIS package via C# code I get the following error message:-
"The package failed to load due to error 0xC0010014 "One or more error occurred. There should be more specific errors preceding this one that explains the details of the errors. This message is used as a return value from functions that encounter errors.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails. "
The code is pretty straightforward:-
Application app = new Application();
PackageEvents evts = new PackageEvents();
Package pkg = new Package();
Package pkg = app.LoadPackage("C:\Documents and Settings\dominic_s\My Documents\Visual Studio 2005\Projects\SSIS_Util\bin\Debug\DTS\Cleanup_Staging.dtsx",evts,true);
return pkg;
What's interesting is this error message only appear's when I Start Debugging (F5 in VS 2005). If I Start without Debuggging (CTRL+F5) I dont get this error message. I've tried almost everthing suggested by other posts in this forum related to the same issue but nothing seems to work.
I am having an interesting SSIS problem where the package fails to load with the following error message:
Code: 0xC0010018 Source: {BE86A659-AB44-403A-9C89-3524821879E0} Description: Error loading value "" DTS:Name="SqlStatementSource">"Select dbo.fnGetLastOpenExtract('" + @[User::in_ExtractName] + "') as eh_ID"" from node "DTS: PropertyExpression".
This very same package runs on our test server, but fails to even load on UAT server.
SSIS packages are the same on both Test and UAT servers (I compared not just dates and sizes - they are literally the same: byte-to-byte) DTExec version is 9.00.3042.00 on both servers. HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSSetupVersion = 9.2.3042.00 on both machines.
This started to happen when the UAT machine was upgraded to Service Pack 2 of SQL Server 2005. Please note that the UAT server only runs SSIS packages and does not have SQL 2005 database engine installed. There is, however, an older installation of SQL Server 2000 on UAT machine (I am not sure if Test machine has it - will check tomorrow).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

We are migrating the SQL Server database from 2000 to 2012 and part of this exercise we are migrating the DTS Package to SSIS Package. we were unable to convert the password protected DTS Package to SSIS Package. The DTS Package created in early 2000 and we don't have a password for the DTS Package.
Is there a way to remove the password or read the content of the DTS Package?
Hello, I need to run SSIS packages with the 32 bit dtexec version, and I am storing these files into the MSDB package store, in SQL Server 2005. I have chosen to encrypt sensitive data with password, and then to execute the packages with xp_cmdshell. I believe here a have a similar problem, with users not being granted access to encryption keys. Thanks in advance
I have an SSIS package which calls two other SSIS packages as part of it's control flow (using the Execute Package task). Both packages are stored in the same parent folder on the same server. The first child package runs successfully, the second does not. It ran fine for days until yesterday. Not sure what I might have done. I have tried to delay validation and recreate the connection. No go. Has anyone else run into this. I am running SQL 2005 RTM and VS 2005 RTM on XP Pro SP2. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have created few reports using SSRS 2005. I am using Oracle database in Data Source to fetch my data. It is working fine and showing me report correctly. But after running the report 8 to 10 times, it starts giving me Memory error. To get rid of that, I need to recycle (stop-start) ReportingService from IIS.
I am exactly getting following error...
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
I am not getting the actual problem, why is it giving memory error only after running few times? Please let me know if anyone facing same problem or knowing the solution for the problem.
