Getting Past SQL Network Interface Error 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified
Sep 21, 2006First-time poster (and very new to ASP.NET, so please be patient) - I am using VS 2005. I have an ASP.Net 2.0 app that is using Forms Authentication and a Login server control with AspNetSqlMembershipProvider. I have an instance of ASPNETDB.MDF in the App_Data directory on my local machine and all works well (or at least as expected). I used the Copy Web Site function to port the app (including the ASPNETDB.MDF files) to my production platform, where I encounter the error mentioned in the subject line. I have found posts (both here and other forums) that mention enabling TCP/IP using Surface Area Configuartion Utility, SQL Server Browser are exempt from firewall, and a few other things. My production machine does not have SQL SVR 2005 installed nor SQL SVR Express. Do I have to install SQL Server Express onto my production platform in order to resolve this, or is there another means (something in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio on my local machine) that will enable me to do this on the production machine?Also, I have been told that it is possible to use a database on another machine as the data store for authentication. Does anyone know how to do that? This would make the first question moot.Thanks in advance!

Apr 28, 2008I have been searching high and low for days and I am perplexed and appalled at the lack of information regarding what can not be an isolated incident.
We are trying to get an Analysis Services 2005 to process on a x64 server. We have both versions of the Oracle client installed and .ora file in both places. I have seen a couple of posts regarding this issue, but they are 2 years old and MS was supposed to have resolved the 'parentheses' issue long ago.
The test connection succeeds, and I can explore the data in the datasource view, but I cannot process the cube. All I get is the "OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Class not registered"
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
Enterprise x64 Editon
Service Pack 2
Installed Oracle Client 10g and ODAC home
I tried a few things that were suggested in posts, but nothing has worked. I tried the cmd line starting SSMS from progra~2 instead of (x86). I tried renaming the directory with no parentheses. This is the second time we've tried to get it to work in 2 years. We'll probably give up again and stay with x86, um, because it works without all these silly mickey-mouse tricks. Most of our relational DBs are ORACLE so this is a showstopper for us as far as trying to go x64.
Sorry for the attitude, but I'm really frustrated!
If anyone can tell me a way to resolve this (or that it can't be resolved), I'd really appreciate it!

Hi all,
I have created a SSIS package that pulls data from paradox tables using a microsoft Jet 4.0 OLEDB Provider.
Iam pulling data from Paradox tables to SQL SERVER
In the package i have changes the properties RunIn64bitmode from True to False,doing this helped me to run the Package in BIDS environment....However iam not able to run the same using batch file.

Jan 12, 2007I have an application written in .Net 2.0 using the SQL Server RMO .Net assemblies to create the replication on the SQL Server and to control the synchronization between the publisher and subscribers. I have installed the application on a server that only has the following components install on it:
Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection
When I run application everything works until I try to synchronize a subscriber, I get the following error: Class not registered.
I tracked down the clsid which it can€™t find to be this:
1E6ADC03-1A05-4DF0-B627-3DAE0F6DA188.
This is listed to be the following class: (Microsoft SQL Merge 9.0) SQLMerge.SQLMerge.3 which located in the following dll file: sqlmergx.dll.
Is there a separate install package that I need to run to get this, sqlmergx.dll and other dependent libraries installed? Or do I have to have SQL Server Services installed on this server because I tried to install only the SDK from the server install on this server and then the client tools and still get the same error when trying to synchronize between the publisher and subscriber.
Or is there something missing with our RMO .Net assemblies?
Error Working With DTS -- Class Not Registered
Jun 1, 2007I have a DTS package (stored in a .dts file) that was created in SQL Server 2000 and I am trying to work with it in SQL 2005. When I try to import it into the Legacy > Data Transformation Services node in Management Studio, I get a window that reads "Class Not Registered (Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package)". I get the same error if I try to just execute the package itself from a query window.
I have Legacy Support installed, and I also have Integration Services installed.
Any ideas? We have three installations of SQL 2005 and I am getting the same error on all of them.

SQL Network Interface, Error 28
Oct 7, 2007When I initially downloaded SQL Server Express the System tables were visible using SQL Server Management Studio Express. I was able to create a new database and define and populate a couple of small tables. I then attempted to set up an ODBC SQL Natvie Client connection so that I could print the table contents using Crystal Reports. That failed with the following error message:
"An error occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default setting SQL Server does not allow remote connections."
I subsequently uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server Express. Now, I get the following error message whenever I try to connect to the database using SQL Server Management Studio Express. Additionally, the System tables are no longer visible. However, I can access my database via the Server Explorer in VS2005.

May 19, 2006I had just installed SQL 2005 dev on my laptop and got an error message when I tried to create a package using the BI IDE. I received the same error using VS2005 IDE. But the project was created regardless without any packages. When I tried to create a new package in the project, I received the same error again, but with an option to view the error details.

I found a similar post that suggested that they try the following:
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll
regsvr32 msxml6.dll
But msxml6.dll could not be found.
I did get a copy of this file from a coworker, and after copying it and registering it, I was able to add a package to the project.
My concern now is what is the likelyhood of this being the only file missing from the installation.
I'm wondering if I should reinstall, or (if it exists) do a repair on the installation.

SQL Package Installation Wizard On X64: Library Not Registered Error

I am using the SQL Package Installation Wizard to deploy my SSIS packages on to a 64-bit SQL Server and I am getting this error, Library not registered. I am also getting the same error when I tried to import a SSIS package from a 32-bit SQL Server. I was able to save my SSIS packages to the 64-bit SQL Server one by one from Visual Studio. My server is run Windows 2003 Enterprise x64 with SP1, and SQL 2005 Enterprise x64 with SP1 and hotfixes. 64-bit .Net Framework is also registered on the machine.
This is the error from the installation log file:

Hi All,
I have SSIS package which loads excel data in SQL server. Now when I execute the package by double clicking it(GUI Utility for Dtexec) or by running it in SSIS Editor it works great.
However if I run it using the command line dtexec.exe then following error arises. Note that machine on which I am executing does not have Microsoft Office installed and is 64 bit.

Integration Services :: SSIS Class Not Registered Error
May 6, 2015I am using SSIS 2008 R2 & SQL Server 2008 R2. When I run the package in bids it runs fine but when I try to execute this package from agent job I get the below error message. In the job execution options I tried using 32-bit runtime that didn't work either.

Could Not Obtain A Required Interface Error

I have created a linked server that connects to "mpp" file, and it connects and opens successfuly returning a list of tables that exists in the linked server to the mpp file.
But the problem i am facing now that whne i write a select statment to get data from the tables in this linked server
select * from linktompp.testmpp.dbo.tasks
such that linktompp is the linked server name
testmpp is the catalog name
tasks is the table name i need to select data from
it shows an error that says
"Could not obtain a required interface from OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Project.OleDB.11.0'."

Error: Data Extension 'OLEDB' That Is Not Registered For This Report Server
May 9, 2008Hi all: I am getting the following error when I try to review the deployed reports on localhost.
"An error has occurred during report processing.
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'OLEDB' that is not registered for this report server."
I checked the report manager, and for "connection type", there is a warning message as shown below:
"The data processing extension used for this report is not available. It has either been uninstalled, or it is not configured correctly."
I will appreciate any help in this regard.

Maintenance Plan Error No Such Interface Supported

Using the full SQL Server 2005 patched up to build 9.0.3054.
Creating a simple maintenance plan to backup specific databases.
As soon as i try to save the plan i get the popup error :"no such interface supported". It won't allow me to save any plan at all regardless of what I put in there.

I found errors frequently in cluster events at  logs as below

If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapter. How to fix this issues? is it missing any patch OS or cluster side?

I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".
Where do I change the security settings?

Aug 18, 2006I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:

Hi,
I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:
Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection.
I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?

Over the last 2 months I have gotten this SQL Server error (twice). All existing processes will continue to work, however no new processes can be created and users cannot connect to the server. This is the exact text of the message in the SQL Server error log.

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.

Error While Calling The Roles.AddUserToRole (error Message: Cannot Resolve Collation Conflict For Equal To Operation)
Feb 5, 2006Hi, I have developed a website in asp.net 2. I have tester it and it is working fine on my computer but when I have uploaded it to my server I'm getting an error message when the user signup. The error occurs when I'm setting the user role to 'members'.
Error line > Roles.AddUserToRole(user.UserName, "members")
The strage thig is that it is working on my computer but not on the server. My home computer and the server are running the same software versions and the website database is the same as well.
To double check that my code is not generating the error I have lonched 'SQL Query Analizer' and executed the folowing code on my database:
NOTE: In my database I have create the user “teeluk12� and a role “members�
aspnet_UsersInRoles_AddUsersToRoles "/", "teeluk12", "members", "5/02/2006 4:44:33 pm"
Once again the code is working on my home computer but not on the server. On the server I'm getting the following error:

Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.
Does anybody know what could cause the error?
Could it be some permissions that I didn't set on my server?

I have SQL 2005 Developer on XP SP2 , I have disabled my windows firewall. I can ping to my server (croaktoad.simpli.biz) and i get no error message. My remote connection using both TCP/IP and named pipes are checkeed. My SQL Server Browser is running as well.
However when I try to connect using Managment Studio or running SQLCMD /Scroaktoad. simpli.biz /E I get the following error message
