Sep 5, 2007I have a dataflow task which keeps erroring, at which point the flow should go down the red path to my error handling SQL Task.
But it is failing to do so.
anyone know why?

I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".
Where do I change the security settings?

Apr 16, 2008When trying to install Business Contact Manager (BCM) for Outlook 2007, the setup failed and I was refered to a log file in my Local Settings/Temp folder. The log actually says that Business Contact Manager was installed sucessfully! BCM is supposed to install SQL Express 2005 as an instance or as instance if SQL Express is already installed. Who can I send the Log File to for analysis and the fix feedback?
When I first went into Computer Management and clicked on Services and Applications in the left panel, the error message appeared "Snap-in failed to intialize. Name: SQL Server Configuration Manager CLSID:{CA9F8727-31DF-41D2-975C-887D84903967} This message diappeared when I clicked on Services and Applications again. Under Services, there are 3 SQL services - one is an application that was uninstalled 3-4 weeks ago and I disabled this service. The other 2 are: SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) and the other one is SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) When I tried to start either of the last 2, the message appeared: Services "Could not start the SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSGL.1 folder is mostly empty. So, it seems like the Path in the Registry is not valid and that nothing is being installed in the MSSQL.1 folder. If so, how do I fix this?
How do I get the BCM SQL instance to install and run properly? what do the messages in Services mean and how do I resolve these.

May 13, 2008We are using SQL CE 3.5 on tablet PCs, that synchs with our host SQL 2005 Server using Microsoft Synchronization Services. On the tablets, when inserting a record, we get the following error:
A duplicate value cannot be inserted into a unique index. [ Table name = refRegTitle,Constraint name = PK_refRegTitle
But the only PK on this table is RegTitleID.
The table structure is:
[RegTitleID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[RegTitleNumber] [int] NOT NULL,
[RegTitleDescription] [varchar](200) NOT NULL,
[FacilityTypeID] [int] NOT NULL,
[Active] [bit] NOT NULL,
The problem occurs when a Title Number is inserted and a record with that number already exists. There is no unique constraint on Title Number.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Now, when I run my code in VB.NET and use the ExecuteXMLReader() command, I get nothing back into the XML Reader. I noticed that I needed the XMLDATA directive also, but when I add it, I get the following error

Access To The Path Is Denied Error
Feb 11, 2008I have created a package that works just fine from my desktop. I am now testing it by deploying it to the server. The task was imported into the "File System" store. I connected to the SQL Server, from my desktop, with SSMS. I right clicked the package and selected "Execute" If I just validate the task, it validates without errors. When I go to run the task I get a "Access to the path is denied" error at the start of the first file system task. I am sure it is a permission issue. Based on the info from another thread in the forum:
"Security to network shares is dependent on the user who is running the package. If you are running it yourself, make sure you have permissions to the share. If you are running it from SQL Agent, you might need to use a proxy account (search for SQL Agent Proxy in Books Online) to access it."
I have some questions:
1. When I select "execute" what account is SQL Server using for permissions for accessing network folders? Is it mine, SQL Server Agent, something else? If it is my account, why would I get an "Access to the path is denied" error?
2. I don't understand how to use a proxy account, or even if I need one. I assume that when I set the task for scheduling I'll need one. I read the BOL pages, but I'm still confused as to what I need to set up.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Error 3: The System Cannot Find The Specified Path
May 5, 2006Installed SQL Server 2000 Enterprise trial a week ago on XP Pro. Installed new Seagate 80G HD; used Seagate's utility to copy old C: to new drive as new boot drive. All seems to work fine, except, when booting up, SQL server doesn't start. When I try to start it manually I get the following:
Could not start SQLSERVER service on the local computer. Error 3: the system cannot find the specified path.
1. What could be wrong?
2. How do I fix it?
SSIS FTP Task Remote Path Error /

I am trying to set up a SSIS package which uses a FTP task to download some files. In the FTP task editor I have the filename setup as an RemotePath expression. If I do not put a / at the start of the file name generated I get the following error:
[FTP Task] Error: Remote path "test.csv" doesn't start with "/".
If I then place a / infront of the name then then I get an error saying the file does not exist
[FTP Task] Error: File represented by "/test.csv" does not exist.
In both cases I have the DelayValidation property set to true.
However if I log on to the ftp server manually using windows or command prompt the file exists and can be downloaded from the default folder you log into.
I would appriciate any light anyone could shed on this problem.

Remote Path Does Not Exists -error-FTP-SSIS
Mar 6, 2008I am getting this error, when I try to access a directory in the remote path. Though the directory exists, I get this error.
550 CWD CMD FAILED : EDC5129I NO SUCH FILE OR DIRECTORY.
When I try to access through the remote login, I am able to see the directory as well as the files there. How to overcome this error. Is there any workaround for this.

I have a strongly typed dataset that contains only the one table. It has the method GetDataByIsSubscribed

This is an existing table that contains duplicate email addresses, but I don't want to add any more dups.
You can see I have another method to add records, which works fine, though I've only tried to add email addresses that I know aren't in the table. If I run the above code which first checks to see if an email address is in the table, and I use an email address that is, I get the following error

I think I understand what this error is telling my, but I don't get why. All the fields except CustID allow nulls. There are no foreign-keys, and I don't see where any fild by custID requires unique entries. If I run the query in the designer, I don't have a problem.
What am I missing?

I am getting the following message when I am trying to insert into my table. Request is the primary keys and the Bus_Req_Id and Test_Case_Id are both foreign keys. The data that is being inserted into these fields are not unique.
This is the exact error message:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_REQUEST_BUS_REQ_TST'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'REQUEST_BUS_REQ_TST'.
The statement has been terminated.
I am trying to insert 700 - 900 rows based on certain criteria. If I delete the keys the inserts will work.
Any help would be most greatful.

i have two tables, one is department-Table(Master table) and other is employee-table(Child table).
DNO is a data field which is common in both the table. "DNO" is primary key in department-table and "DNO" is foreign key in child table.
I am trying to insert rows in the table i found the following error:
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Employee_Department". The conflict occurred in database "Project", table "dbo.Department", column 'Dno'.

Error Validating Any Check Constraint

I just this day started using SQL sever 2005. I created a database and
then created a table. Then I started adding some fields. I wanted to
add a check constraint to one of the fields called state but I keep
getting the same error. I right click on the field while editing the
table and select check constraint. I then click add on the check
constraint dialogue and in the expression caption I input the
following:

@State In('CA', 'AZ', 'UT', 'CO')
</code>
I am using a book and have straight copied the above example from
the book. However when I input the check constraint I get the following
error;
"Error validating constraint 'ck_myfirstdatabase'
I have tried this with other fields and other types of check
constraints and I still get the same error. I have tried to delete the
database and recreate it. I have tried everything I can think of and I
cannot seem to get check constraints to work. I have no idea why I keep
getting this message. I have checked the
examples a
thousand times, the syntax is definately correct. This is getting
extremely annoying as I cannot continue unless I do this. I'm all out
of ideas. Can anyone please tell me
why it could not be working? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Urgent DataBase Restore Logfile Path Error Message
May 8, 2007I am having difficulty restoring a database (DB_1) with 2 datafiles and one log file, DB Structure is as following:
Filegroup PRIMARY with file name 'fnm_data' with physical file name and location D:dbfile_1.mdf,
Filegroup 'FG1' with file name 'fgnm1_data1' with physical file name and location F:dbfile_FG1.mdf,
One log file with file name 'fnm_log' with physical file name and location (E:loglog_db.ldf)
{Note} Logfile resides on E drive whereas Datafiles reside on several other drives.
I need to restore the DB on another machine. And I need to move the log file to a drive other than E.In this case it is K drive. Hence I have used the following code,
restore log DB_1 from disk='M:kupccciclog.txt'

When I try to restore from backup files, I keep error message saying "Physical file name E:loglog_db.ldf may be incorrect." 'fnm_log' cannot be restored. Use Move command to identify a valid location for the file.
Even though I am using Move command to move the log file.
Then I found that if I create a drive with E: and a folder named 'log' then restore program runs alright. That is, when E:log exists then code does run smoothly. All the restore code is looking for the presence of path of the log file from where it is been backed up. In this case it is E:log folder. Once the database is restored I could kill that directory and nothing happens. Also log file has been restored on K:DB only.
Why the restore code is looking for the initial drive letter and path even though I have used Move command? Is there an issue in my code?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Jan 19, 2015I have a constraint on a 3rd party app that I can't change the app but can add a constraint at the table level. The constraing works but the error message back is ugly. Is there a way to do some kind of raiserror on a constraint that could send better info back to the user, I have done this in triggers, is the an approach for constraints?

Check Constraint With Custom Error Message
Mar 14, 2008i need the t-sql statement for a check constraint that has a custom error message that shows the proper fromat for column entry.... i know its confusing...
example... if im using the authors table in the pubs database and the numbers in the au_id column reads xxx-xxxxxx where x represents numbers... what must i do so that the error message reads the proper format... ie. use proper format XXX-XXXXXX, is what i might want the error message to read.

Event ID 14151 in vent viewer.
Does anyone have a solution to resolve the problem?

Hi all,
I'm trying to let certain users execute an SSIS package through an SP in SQL.
I've set up a proxy account for xp_cmdshell that the other users will use to execute dtexec with, but i get this message:
Could not load package "File SystemCODA_Actuals" because of error 0x80070005.
Description: Access to the path 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackagesCODA_Actuals.dtsx' is denied.
When i log onto the server with the proxy account, i can navigate to that folder and open the package.
When try to execute it from the command shell:
dtexec /DTS "File SystemCODA_Actuals" /Decrypt "password" /Reporting E /SET Package.Variables[User::JobId].Value;25'
i get the same message. How come? How do i fix this? I've read somewhere that i should grant read to the package store to that user , how do i do that? Can't find that option in the tools or manuals.

Error While Setting Reporting Service And Share Point Exclusion Path
Apr 14, 2008I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on my Laptop for use with IIS 7.0; Everything was working fine untill I opened the Report Server Site with WVD 2008, it asked me to Modify the web.config for debugging. After doing that the Report Server Site started showing an error page saying there was a rsInternal error. I tried fixing the Web.config by hand but it dident work, so I tried completly reinstalling the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. It reinstalled perfectly excluding the Report Server. When it came time to install the Report Server; I got the error message.
The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Setting reporting service and share point exclusion path. The error is: Fatal error during installation.

Getting An Error SQL Mobile Encontered A Problem When Openeing The Database; The Path Is Not Valid

The development environment & the SQL Box are two different boxes.
I am trying to create a simple application where I want to synchronize data between Pocket PC application's ( Emulator) local database(SQL Mobile) to SQL 2005 Database. I have tried the steps outlined in the following link
