Error Preparing To Try To Install SQL Server In Vista 64-bit Enterprise
Jan 29, 2008
I have Vista Enterprise 64-bit. I have followed the 3 links in this Answered Link.
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?siteid=1&PostID=2756202
I can turn on the IIS bits under
Web Management Tools and
Windows Authentication
But when I try to turn on the World Wide Web Services stuff I get
"An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed"
and when I click OK it has not turned on any of the fetures under World Wide Web Services.
Hi, Is there any one knows how to fix this, please help! This is urgent. In the configuration checking, there was only one warning message about operation system (this warning should be ignored according to some advice). When coming to the Component checkboxes, there is only one checkboxe checkable at the last item. Thanks!
I was playing around with SQL2k5 Express, but decided to download Enterprise using my MSDN subscription. I installed it, but none of the services are running. I don't understand why?
I've checked the requirments and I notice that Vista x64 is not on the list for compatible OS's.
I do get this when trying to install:
- SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility (Warning)
Messages
SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility
Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online.
Also, during the install, Componoents to Install: All the services are greyed out... is that because they can't be installed or because they're going to be installed by default?
Anyone else have it running on Vista Ultimate x64? Am I doing something wrong or does it just not install on this version of Vista?
I have installed Feb 2006 CTP Vista Build 5308,but when i install SQL Server 2005,it crashed.
Error Message:

And the start menu/All Programe didn't not appear "Microsoft SQL Server".

I cannot execute a package by using Execute Package task. I supplied sa credentials to connection manager, and it shows the list of Packages on SQL Server but when running the task it says
Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!.
I'm having an issue with a development machine that has the RTM version of Vista installed on it. I get the same issue with every script component, regardless of what package it resides in.
The red "X" error that I get in the BI dev studio is:
Error 1 Validation error. My Data Flow Task: My Script Component [6313]: System.BadImageFormatException: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B) at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Vsa.VsaEngine.Compile() at Microsoft.SqlServer.VSAHosting.Runtime.LoadSource(String project) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ScriptComponentHost.CreateUserComponent() MY SSIS Package.dtsx 0 0
When I try to execute the package, I get the following error:

Other developers can open and execute this package fine. The only machine that can't is the Vista machine. Has anyone else had this issue with running BIDS on Vista?
then in the next step ,there was only one option i could choose(workstation components, books online and develop tools), all the services were grey and not selected ,here 's the log file

could any one tell my how could i intall the sql server database services and other services?
I am unable to make SQL Server 2005 work under Vista. As soon as I try to register a server I get a message saying error 40. It does not seem as straightforward as SQL 2000. Under Registered servers I can see a green arrow and a local instance called paul-pc.... I have no idea what credentials to put into the login properties. I am from an Access background so this is new to me. I would appreciate it if someone can talk me through the process
I've just done a clean install of Vista Ultimate (release). SQL Server 2005 will only install the client tools - it refuses to install any of the server components (including the default instance).
I get the "SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility (Warning). " I installed the missing IIS 7.0 which got rid of the IIS warning message.

I'm loading the dev version of sql 2005 on vista ultmate. I'm not seeing the manager tools. I've installed sp2. In the services it says sql express but not sql server. I read the requirments for the dev version and it didn't list vista. Any ideas?

When I install I get a warning that IIS is not running. IIS IS running. Is this why I need the service pack? I am not getting anything added to program files that allows me to manage SQL Server. I am looking for Enterprise Manager, MMC, or some such thing. How can I get it to install? Is this related to Vista and SP2?
I've installed Windows Vista 64 bit on my pc (I had XP Pro). Also I've installed the management studio of SQL Server 2005 developer edition which I've uses also on my XP machine.
I've a online server at "myserver.myprovider.com". With C:WindowsSystem32cliconfg.exe a made a TCP/IP alias to with the name "MySql". In XP I then can connect in Sql management studio to "MySql" and everyting works perfect (I also use some other programs which needs the cliconfg alias.
After I installed Vista, I take the same steps (I've done this over 30 times, but in XP). When I then want to connect to "MySql" in management studio, I get this error: (translated from dutch) "Cannot connect to MySql. Maybe this error is caused by the fact that the SQL Server don't allow external connections. Error: 53.
I downloaded SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advenced SP2, it failes to install Database Server Service and returns an error that it cannot connect to ODBC driver

I need to install SQL Server 2005 on Vista, but i have issues.
I have installed IIS and its checked in the pre-installation checklist, and the only thing with an exclamation point is the OS which is to be expected.
The issue im having is that when i get to the screen to select the features/components i want to install, they are all disabled apart from "Workstation components, Books online etc..."
Where am i going wrong with this.. I know i need the services pack to install reporting services, but i cant install anything at this point.
A walkthrough or something would really help...
P.S Im running on Vista Ultimate and trying to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
I want to ask a question, I am using Windows Vista Home Premium Edition in my notebook, I installed Visual Studio 2005 in it, it is working properly. Now I want to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition in it, in the begining it was giving me errors while installing Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, but then it installed properly, but the problem is I cant see the "SQL Server Management Studio" in installed SQL Server, I think it is not installed properly.
Hi, I upgraded to Vista and then re-installed Sql Server 2005 and then installed SP2. When I choose "Connect to Server" in Management studio I have no choice for "Server Name". If I type in the computer name (which is what the local server used to be) I get a logon error, but I chose windows authentication in setup. Please help. Thanks!

I installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise trial on Vista Home Premium. In the process of trying to get SQL Server Management Studio installed I ended up removing everything. Now when I try to install any tool, service, or database of SQL Server 2005 (Enterprise or SQLExpress) the install fails and says that a newer version is already installed but nothing is installed. Rollback my restore points fails too. Seems like I need to clean up the registry somehow????
Setup has detected a problem with Microsoft .Net Framework installation and cannot proceed. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is either not installed on this system or is corrupt.
I cannot uninstall 2.0, as its part of the Vista. I have tried repairing it.
I tried downloading 2.0 and installing it, but it says that its allready installed.
I was able to install Visual Studio with Sql Server 2005 express.
I am stuck. Is the case that Sql install dosent know about the latest version of 2.0 that came with vista ?
I am unable to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007. I sought help in the BCM forum, but the developer who I spoke with came to the conclusion that it is a SQL Server Express problem that I am experiencing, and so he recommended that I come here for help.
I am running on Vista Ultimate.
Every attempt I have made to install BCM (and later SQL Express Server 2005 separately, see below) has failed at the same point, with the same error message:
"SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'.
Today I attempted to install SQL Express Server SP2 separately on its own, the idea being that if this worked, then I might be able to install BCM on top of it. I attempted the SQL EE SP2 installation after uninstalling all remnants of previous installations to the best of my ablity. The SP2 installation failed at the same point, and had the same appearance, as I saw in all prior attempts. (The installer reported no errors or warnings in its system checks prior to beginning the actual install.)

Any advice on how to get SQL EE installed, so that I can ultimately install BCM, will be greatly appreciated.
I have a new laptop with VISTA. I've enabled IIS with all features turned on. When I install SQL Server 2005 Express I get a warning stating IIS is either not installed or disabled. Any ideas? Thanks.
I have an SSIS project that is deployed to a sql server.
The setup of the project is a parent dtsx package, and many child packages.
The parent executes each of the chid packages.
If I run the parent from BIDS, calling the children that are on the SQL Server, it works fine.
If I execute it from SQL Management Console running on my laptop, connected to the SQL Server, It works.
If I remote into the SQL Server and run it from SQL Agent or SQL Management Console, the job fails with the error:
Error 0xC0202009 while preparing to load the package. SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x%1!8.8X!. for each of the children.
This has quite suddenly stopped working, and I cannot figure out why it will work being executed from my laptop, but not on the server.
This post is for informational purposes only, as I have solved the issue. However, it was such a sneaky issue that I thought I would share.
I was working from home on a working SSIS package. I deployed via dtutil, and then ran it.
It failed immediatly with the error:
"Error 0xC0011008 while preparing to load the package. Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored."
Nothing on the web helped me.
Well, after about 10 hours of working with it I figured it out.
The first package loaded in SSIS is my parent package, which executes other packages stored in SQL Server.
When I first loaded up the package, my VPN was still connecting. Since I was not on the VPN when this package loaded, it could not validate.
Without any indication, my connection to the SQL Server storing the packages was invalid. All I had to do was open it, and click on OK.
So be aware... If the validation cannot take place, bad things can happen ;-)
I'm currently running Windows Vista x64 and SQL server 2005 on an HP laptop with a AMD Turion 64 processor. I've install all of the Windows Vista x64 update so far with no issues. However, I'm unable to install SQL server 2005 SP2 via Windows updates.
I was able to successfully download the service pack with no issues and it is currenly on my machine ready to install. The system does take a check prior to the install process beginning to perform the install.
I continuely get and "Error Code A91" when the install process is running. As a result the install does not complete successfully. When I used the "Get Help" option I get a list of possible error conditions but none of them seem be useful. I checked each one and none of them provide any help with a solution.
I've successful installed SP2 on Vista x32 system with no problem. Is this a "Windows Update" issue?
I'm trying to install SQL Server 2005 (Developer edition) on my Vista Ultimate machine.
I've got the IIS 7 features turned on; I've got the SP2 patch CD; and I've run every install as administrator. I've run the SQL Server setup before and after the SP2 patch
I'm doing a named instance using the built-in system account with windows authentication mode.
Is there any COMPLETE guide as to how to work through all these installation problems?
I've gotten same results after about six attempts.
These always install:
SQL Setup Support Files SQL Native Client SQL VSS Writer SQL Server Backward Compatibility Files SQLXML4 SQL Server Books Online
Ive been told that you cant install SQL Server 2000/2005 on anything but a server OS (such as Windows Server 2003). How are people installing this into vista then as Longhorn is far from being released?
When i try and install it into Ultimate, i only get the option to install client tools... which makes sense as the machine isnt a server. Surely people can install SQL Server 2005 in Vista though?
All of the features are green ticked except the OS which has a compatabilty warning (which i expected).
I feel im missing something really simple here....
I am getting the error message below when installing sql server 2005 dev edition on windows vista ultimate. I just bought a new hp notebook and installed visual studio 2005 pro and office 2007. Works very well. Then I'm trying to install sql server 2005 dev edition and get the error below. Please help
