I am having an issue while transferring some tables from sql server database to oracle schema. The table has over 150 million records. I have created a view referencing that table and am transferring the view. I am using "Oracle Destination" data flow destination using Microsoft Connector for Oracle by Attunity with SQL Server 2008 Integration Services. I am repeatedly getting the following error:OCI error encountered. ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020.Â

I've got a table adapter that connects using an oracle data connector. In the adapter, I'm using native oracle SQL such as:
select TO_DATE(SUBSTR(TO_CHAR(weird_oracle_field),0,12),'YYYYMMDDHH24MI') as dt_added from oracle_data_table
There's also a CASE statement in there with some other data transformations.
Anyway, I want to take the results of that Oracle query and put the dataset into a SQL Server Compact Edition database - within an application that I'm creating in Visual Studio 2005.
For whatever reason, I can't seem to do anything like that in 'bulk' and there aren't any data migration tools that work with anything other than "full" SQL Server versions. My client doesn't support SQL Server, but I can deploy my app with SQL CE. I need a 'local' copy of the database (for several reasons) and just can't seem to figure out how to make this work.
I'm really going nuts. I feel like I'm soooo close when I see the data I want in the table adapter - but I can't seem to actually *move* the data over!!
Can anyone help?
thanks,
Jon

I ask for your help for problem of SQL Server 7 DTS .
I got 6 text data files extracted from a SQL server database Sale1 in Company A. I also got a script produced from Sale1 and run it in my company to build a SQL server database A_Sale which structure is the same as Sale1. Then, I transferred these files into my database A_Sale. I have successfully transferred three files (vlet, vlrl, and vlcv), without any trouble. But I met trouble for transferring other three files (vlcl, vlco, and vlpo). For example, the error messages are as:
"Error during Transformation 'DirectCopyXform' for Row number1. …Conversion invalid for datatype on column pair 12 (source column 'Col012'(DBTYPE_STR), destination column 'cl_dob' (DBTYPE_14))."
"Error during Transformation 'DirectCopyXform' for Row number 10825. …Conversion invalid for datatype on column pair 17 (source column 'Col017'(DBTYPE_STR), destination column 'c0_stchdt" (DBTYPE_14))."
- I don't understand why the datatype is not matched? The datatype is 'int' in both source column and destination column and the data for the source column is like 2533222. And, why the error caused for Row 1 for file vlcl and for Row 10825 for file vlco? How to correct the error?
Other errors I met like:
"Error at Source for Row number 24391. …Column Delimiter not found."
- I don't know how to avoid the error at source? My partner in companyA also cannot control to avoid the error, since the file extracted by SQL server.
"Error at Destination for Row number 531377. …Could not allocate space for object '(SYSTEM
table id:-269896619)' in database 'TEMPDB' because the 'DEFAULT' filegroup is full."
- Why the error caused for row 531377 and how to correct it?
Your help is greatly appreciated!

I have a requirement to pull data from several large tables residing in a Postgres 8.x (PG) database into our SQL Server 2005 warehouse every night. I have been doing this via data dumps to a file then bulk loading said file into SQL2005 but I am running into character encoding issues and newlines embedded in some of the strings which is causing the bulk loader some problems.
I would like to take advantage of the power of SSIS to move the data. I cannot find a current working OLEDB driver for PG and I cannot find an ODBC Data Flow Source in SSIS to use the ODBC driver that is available for PG so I am stuck.
If someone would be kind enough to shed some light on whether this is possible and if so where I could get the instructions on how to do it I would be most appreciative.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am using MS Access 2003 SP2 to maintain some data tables. I use SSIS to transfer them to SQL Server 2005, Enterprise Edition.
When I run the SSIS package from within Visual Studio 2005, the package runs without error.
When I try to run the same SSIS package by double-clicking on it in my File System (which invokes the Execute Package Utility, Version: 1.0) none of the tables get copied. Instead all I receive is a message for each table,
Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRODUCTLEVELTOLOW. The product level is insufficient for component "Data Conversion 1" (49).
The only data conversion I perform is double-byte characters to single-byte characters.
Bob Bojanic, MSFT, made a few suggestions about this in another thread -- but I have created this new thread to help focus on this specific issue. In particular, he asked if we have installed the complete SSIS support for SQL Server 2005, Enterprise Edition, and my network support and database support staff assure me that such complete SSIS support was installed.
Are others having this problem?
Dan
(I just took a look at some of the transformations in the Data Conversion task, and many of them are using an Output Alias identical to the Input Column name. Might that be causing the problem? I will try changing the Output Alias for some tables and see if they then transfer correctly. The "identical name" Output Alias values were created by the Migration Wizard for a DTS 2000 package.)

I am trying to import Access reports using Visual Studio 2005 and Access 2007. SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services is also installed. I select Reports in the Solution Explorer and then Import Reports... Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

String or binary data would be truncated. I get this error when entering data using sql server management studio express.
I am not running a sql to insert or update the table. This is through the EDI.
The data type is varchar(100). I enter one character and it errors on me. So this isn't a string being too long problem.
Any ideas?

I am receiving the following error message when trying to create a new Oracle Publisher.
Msg 21684, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_ORACheckAdminPrivileges, Line 136
The permissions associated with the administrator login for Oracle publisher 'NT02' are not sufficient.
We have added the following permissions manually (not through a role) in Oracle:
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM and DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM
CREATE PROCEDURE
CREATE SEQUENCE
CREATE SESSION
CREATE ANY TRIGGER.
CREATE TABLE
CREATE VIEW
And we have also tried the Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server<InstanceName>MSSQLInstalloracleadmin.sql script.
In both cases we are receiving the error message above. The only way we seem to be able to get around the error is to grant the DBA role to the replication schema user, which doesn't seem right.
Has anybody run into this problem before? How did you get around the problem?
Also is there a way to view sp_ORACheckAdminPrivileges because it's doesn't seem to be viewable anywhere in the database? This would at least let us know what it's looking for from an Oracle standpoint.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
When i try to use the Microsoft OLE-DB Drive for oracle in import/Export Wizard, it gives me message that Oracle networking driver is missing. Contact Oracle for this information.
Any idea to further move on this. I am wondering, why SQL Server 2005 does not have that driver.
Thanks,

Hi,
I'm new to SSIS.
I want to migrate data from Oracle Database to SQL Server 2005 by using SSIS Package. Client wants to migrate just data not schema. Schema is already there for SQL Server, generated through script.
I tried to migrate the data by using import-export wizard in SSIS. But, its asking for creating new tables when migrating data.
I want to migrate data in existing tables, without dropping already existed tables or creating new tables.
any suggestions ?

Hello.
I'm trying to put in an SQL server database some data extracted from Oracle Server 9i.
During the load process, the "OLE DB Destination" in the task chokes up when it finds a record containing the date '0197-01-01 00:00:00' (i got this by putting the error output to a column of type varchar(50)). I can't use the Condicional Split's date functions to filter this out because they also choke on the strange date.
Can anyone give a sugestion?
Thanks in advance,

Hello all.
I upgraded a SQL 2000 installation to SQL 2005 this past weekend. Minimal issues overall, but one that did crop up relates to a linked server to an Oracle database. The linked server worked before the upgrade, and stopped working immediately after.
We're running on Windows 2003 x64, latest service pack. The linked server is set up using the MSDAORA provider. The error I'm getting post-upgrade is:
=====================
OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "PROD" returned message "ORA-06413: Connection not open.".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Procedure RDM_GET_REP_LIST_SP, Line 12
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "PROD".
=====================
A tnsping from the server works fine. I've also tried recreating the linked server. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know what other information would be useful.
Thanks,
Adam

We have recently migrated from SQL 2000 (32bit) to SQL 2005 on Win2003 (both are 64bit). And we have Legacy DTS packages on SQL 2005, some packages are pulling records from Oracle 10g (32bit server). When I execute the DTS package I am getting following error.
Error = -2147467259 (80004005) Error string: Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation. Provider is unable to function until these components are installed. Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
Did I need to install/update any MS OLE DB driver for Orace.
Some blogs & forums suggesting to install Oracle 10g Client. If so Which version of Oracle client(32bit/64bit) I have to install?.
Thanks.

When I attempt to move a package to another server, or sometimes just try to open it on another server, I get the useless message "The parameter is incorrect". All of my connections are valid on the new machine, and even if they weren't I should be able to correct them in design mode on the new server. This is REALLY making it difficult to design a package on the development server, then move it into production.

Hi,
We have a SQL 6.5 database that was expanded larger than was really necessary. I have created a smaller size database and am wondering what the easiest way would be transfer ALL of the data and objects from the existing database into the new one.
Is SQL transfer manager reliable? Are there any better ways?
Thanks,

Hello,
I have made one application in asp.net using C#. It is running perfect in my visual studio 2005 and also on localhost.
Currently i have installed visual studio 2005 in new PC. Now that application is running fine under Localhost. But it is giving me error when i run
it through visual studio in New PC and the error is
" Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed. "
One more point is that i have used DSN and so i checked the DSN also and it is also correct.
Second thing is I have two directory admin and user. If I run the pages of admin directory then it is running fine. But if i run the page of user directory then it is showing
me the above eror. I have also made different config files for both directory and one general config file for whole directory.
I have also search on google for this problem and they asked me to delete SQLEXPRESS directory from C drive but it is not get deleted and it shows the error that
"it is being used by some other program please try again."
So you might have understood my problem. Please help me to get out of this problem. Thanks a lot for reading my problem.

Greetings,
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1, SQL Server Developers Edition, Both installed recently and updated completely on an XP SP2 workstation (again all updates installed, the necessary ones at least) The issue I am having is when I try to load a solution for Integration services an error message box appears with the following:
An error prevented the view from loading. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
===================================
The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) (System.Windows.Forms)
This issue was of course occurring before the reinstall of both Visual Studio and SQL Server DE. The issue also extends to creating new projects, in which I am not able to...so the frustration is a little high at the moment, any help would be great...
