Error Whilst Adding Foreign Key

I've been getting what I think is a bizarre error message whilst trying to create a foreign key between two tables.
tblDailyComments has a primary key of DiaryID
tblDailyOperatingData has a column DiaryID.
Both are Int (4).
Yet when I run the following:
ALTER TABLE tblDailycomments
ADD CONSTRAINT FK_tbldailycomments_tblDailyOpData
FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES
tblDailyOperatingData(DiaryID)
I'm getting the error message:
Server: Msg 8139, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Number of referencing columns in foreign key differs from number of referenced columns, table 'tblDailycomments'.
I also tried to create the relationship in a database diagram and this brought back errors as well.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is my sqlce:

Error is:
Major Error 0x80040E14, Minor Error 25501
There was an error parsing the query. [ Token line number = 3,Token line offset = 1,Token in error = foreign ]

Hello!
I am trying to alter a table adding a column with foreignkey constraint. The table that holds the primary key in that relation has data, so i am not being able to execute the alter statement.
This is the error:
Server: Msg 547, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
ALTER TABLE statement conflicted with COLUMN FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FK_MOPAeroportoICAO_IDMOPAlimentacaoFerroviaTipo'. The conflict occurred in database 'MOP', table 'MOPAlimentacaoFerroviaTipo', column 'IDMOPAlimentacaoFerroviaTipo'.
This is the script:
ALTER TABLE MOPAeroportoICAO

How can i turn of check when i add the foreign key ?

I have to create one table say Bundle where I can have some of the product id , service id and Subscription id , i.e. a bundle may contains sum prduct , services and subscription . How I can design these relations ?

I know this is a nasty way of doing but I can't think of another way. I'm retrieving an ID from a treeview when it's clicked client side, and I want to pass this to a SQL Procedure and retrieve some other data relating to it and fill a list box. Can this be done?

Just a quicky about temporarary tables. If using QA, when you create atemporary table, it gets dropped if you close the query. Otherwise youneed to state 'DROP TABLE myTable' so that you can re-run the querywithout the table being there.Sometimes, you can have quite lengthy SQL statements (in a series)with various drop table sections throughout the query. Ideally youwould put these all at the end, but sometimes you will need to dropsome part way through (for ease of reading and max temp tables etc...)However, what I was wondering is :Is there any way to quickly drop the temporary tables for the currentconnection without specifying all of the tables individually ? Whentesting/checking, you have to work your way through and run each droptable section individually. This can be time consuming, so beingnaturally lazy, is there a quick way of doing this ? I have just started in a brand new role where I need to collect a large amount of diverse data. Part of this data is whether the steps in a guideline has been followed ( a simple check box or yes/no) (but there are maybe 100 guidelines)
My IT department have suggested we use SQL to create the database, but this will obviously take time. In the meantime my boss is keen that I get on with the data collection before the database is ready. I do not want to repeat steps when I create the SQL database so is there any format you would recommend I collect my data in now that can be easily applied to the SQL database - ie if I used Excel, would that be best, and should I then try to keep potential SQL table data separate?

I have a problem that has happened a couple of times now. I'm in the process of testing our 2005 deployment - Standard edition on 2003 x64 servers for principal and mirror and 2005 express witness. All are pre SP1. Two databases are being mirrored.
I have successfully set up mirroring which seems to work fine - but when I restart the MSSQL service on the principal, spurious things happen:
The server that *was* the principal before restart
database A is in (Mirror, Disconnected / In Recovery) state
database B is in (In Recovery)
The server that *was* the mirror:
database A is in (Principal, Disconnected)
database B is in (Principal, Disconnected)
I can connect to both servers via Studio Manager and when I try to go to the current principal database to stop mirroring, the Studio Manager hangs and becomes non-responsive.
Any ideas?

Lets say that I have a 3 tables: 1) Sku, 2) ReceiptDetail and 3) OrderDetail. In the last 2, is a Sku column which needs to refer to the Sku table. I create ForeignKeys in the ReceiptDetail & OrderDetail pointing to the Sku table as follows:
Alter Table ReceiptDetail Add Constraint fk_ReceiptDetail_SkuKey Foreign Key (SkuKey) References Sku (SkuKey) On Update Cascade On Delete No Action;
The first 'Alter' (for ReceiptDetail) works, but the second gives me the following message:
Introducing FOREIGN KEY constraint 'fk_OrderDetail_SkuKey' on table 'OrderDetail' may cause cycles or multiple cascade paths. Specify ON DELETE NO ACTION or ON UPDATE NO ACTION, or modify other FOREIGN KEY constraints.
This worked in Sql Server 2000, but not 2005. I just wanted the Sku updated in the all other tables when updated in the main Sku table. I guess that I could use a trigger, but shouldn't need to.

Hi,
i have two tables, one is department-Table(Master table) and other is employee-table(Child table).
DNO is a data field which is common in both the table. "DNO" is primary key in department-table and "DNO" is foreign key in child table.
I am trying to insert rows in the table i found the following error:
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Employee_Department". The conflict occurred in database "Project", table "dbo.Department", column 'Dno'.
What's the solution to replace this error

Hi guys,
I have created 3 tables namely Static, Dynamic and Demo...
Static has colums FormID(uniqueidentifier, PrimaryKey) and FormName(Nvarchar(50)).
Dynamic has colums formID(uniqueidentifier,PrimaryKey) and FormName(Nvarchar(50)).
Demo has 4 colums namely ValueID(uniqueidentifier, Primary Key), formID(uniqueidentifier, foreign key), Name(nvarchar(50)), Value(nvarchar(50).
Now the formID coloum in Demo table i have set as foreign key to both the dynamic table as well as static table on the formID colum in both table.
Now first i insert a row in the dynamic table then take the uniqueidentifier which is generated automatically and try
to insert in the Demo table in formID colum as that colum is FK to dynamic and static but when i try to insert a row it show that its violating the FOREIGN KEY CONSTRAINT
the exact error is
Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_Demo_Dynamic1". The conflict occurred in database "huzefaJTest", table "dbo.Dynamic", column 'formid'.
The statement has been terminated.

The following SQL statements give me an error on the last line:
CREATE TABLE Employees (id int PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL, name nvarchar(50));
CREATE TABLE RandomTable (uniq int PRIMARY KEY NOT NULL, empid1 int NOT NULL, empid2 int NOT NULL);
ALTER TABLE RandomTable ADD CONSTRAINT RandomTable_FKey_1 FOREIGN KEY (empid1) REFERENCES Employees (id) ON DELETE CASCADE;
ALTER TABLE RandomTable ADD CONSTRAINT RandomTable_FKey_2 FOREIGN KEY (empid2) REFERENCES Employees (id) ON DELETE CASCADE;
The error is:
"The referential relationship will result in a cyclical reference that is not allowed."
Um...how is this cyclical? Is it because I have multiple cascade paths? If so, how do I go about doing the same thing?

I'm trying to create a table in Microsoft Server Management Studio 2012. The table has two fields which are both foreign keys.
I created the following:
create table tblRoomEquipment(
RoomID nvarchar(8),
EquipmentType nvarchar(1),
foreign key (RoomID) references tblRoom(ID),
foreign key (EquipmentType) references tblEquipment(Type)
)
Both tblRoom and tblEquipment have the red line error which when I highlight say the they both reference an invalid table!
Both tables are there and have primary keys defined as ID & Type. I have searched around and all I could find was that there maybe a permission problem.

Am using sql 2000 to store data in the greek language. Using delphi built program to enter the data. The delphi program communicates with sql server via the ODBC connection I created. When I type in above 150 characters in a varchar column that can hold 600, the message (odbc manager - function sequence error) appears and does not allow me to save. However if I type in the english language, it saves without a problem. Here's the strange one-- if I type very very slowly in the greeek language it will save! Am using Windows XP english version.
Any ideas? I have spent above a month on this one!!

Hi guys, I am facing a confusing problem, whenever i select the add new item tab and choose add sql database, it reads an error stating 'Connections to sql server files require SQL server 2005 to be functioning properly, please verify the installation of the component or download it'
The thing is, I have sql server 2005 properly installed on my pc and at the same time, whenever I choose to create a new connection from the server connection or in setting up a connection to the existing databases, I do not face any problem, so why is this issue occuring over here, I have no idea, thanks to anyone willin to resolve!

I have inserted a new NT user via the Security Manager applet into a group associated with two databases. Now when I select 'Logins' from the Server Manager window and then double-click the newly added user, I receive this message 'Error 21770: The name '<NT username>' was not found in the Users collection.'

When I tried to add a new login to the server and after assigning DB Roles,
I am getting the error message that the role has been already added to the user. I think this username has already been in the system earlier. It is in the sysuser table. I tried to delete the roles to which this user has permissions. But still I am getting this error. I am not sure where else it is stored. How can I delete this username completely from all Databases and reassign this userid in the server.
Please advise.

However after adding an article to the publication and recreating the snapshot I get this error now at the subscriber

I have a clr assembly that access the internet via Sockets and file access. This require me to set the Assembly permissions level to External.
There are lots of messages on the net regarding this issue. none have worked for me.
Currently I'm trying to install the assembly with "sign the assembly" checked, createing a strong name key file.
When I run the installation I get the following message from the server
"Create failed for SqlAssembly 'xxx'.(Microsoft.sqlServer.Smo)
an exception occured while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch
(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
A severe error occured in the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.

HI all.
I am new to ADO.NET and have a emergency problem to slove.
I am using VS 2005 to open a solution that created by previous VS. After the solution is upgraded by VS, I was gonna add a data souce to the form. The destinated database is a sample called Northwind. But right after I want to add a table called "employee" as the object database in dataset, I got an error "error using the dropdown: Could not get type information for 'Getting_Started.NorthwindDataSet'"
I created a test form and did the same procedure but got no error at all. So I guess there must be something wrong with using VS 2005 to open solution created by previous VS.
Can anyone help me solving this problem? Thanks.

End Sub The only absolute requirement when saving to the table is the ReportName. All the other criteria can be NULL. If I don't select and values and try to save the values, I get an error:System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Procedure or function 'AddToReport' expects
parameter '@ProjID', which was not supplied. at
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError... etc If I choose the ProjID (thus giving it a value), I get the following error:System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Procedure or function 'AddToReport' expects
parameter '@DeptCode', which was not supplied. at
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError... etc and so forth. I'm guessing it's a problem of NULLs somewhere, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

Hi I get the following error:
Implicit conversion of varchar value to varchar cannot be done
because the collation of the value is unresoved due to a collation

The sp works on my dev sql server but not on the live one, I am using Management Console v2 (dev) and 1.2 (live server)

I am trying to setup an AG on a cluster, I was able to define where I want my replica, but I need to setup the ip for the listener of that one
When I am adding the Ip at the listener I am getting the following message:
The Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) resource control API returned error code 5057. The WSFC service may not be running or may not be accessible in its current state, or the specified arguments are invalid. For information about this error code, see "System Error Codes" in the Windows Development documentation.
The attempt to create the network name and IP address for the listener failed. The WSFC service may not be running or may be inaccessible in its current state, or the values provided for the network name and IP address may be incorrect. Check the state of the WSFC cluster and validate the network name and IP address with the network administrator. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 41009)
Browsing around I found this guide: [URL] ......
And I make sure that the cluster has permissions to "Read all properties", "Create Computer Objects", even to "Create all child" permissions
I also added those permissions to the account that starts sql at that cluster and I am logged as that and I am still getting the error....

I have a SAP Server running SQL2000 on Windows 2003.Recently I migrated the server from a NT4 Domain to a AD Domain usingADMT (with SID Migration for users) and everything seems ok.Now, after one month, I have to shut down the old NT4 domain and beforedoing it I have to replace the old logins in SQL with the correspondentusers in the new domain.I applied a script which returned Error 15401: Windows NT user or groupNEWDOMUser not found. Check the name again.I checked the KB article 324321http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;324321I applied the suggestion to verify ifSELECT name FROM sysxlogins WHERE sid = SUSER_SID 'NEWDOMUser')returns a row, but this is not happening.Then I tried to create the new login from the Enterprise Manager. So Ibrowse for the user and I'm able to find it (It exists! It's the sameuser I use to login on the server) but when I apply the changes I getthe same 15401 Error.So it seems that the KB article is not useful because:1) There is no duplicate security identifier2) It's not an authentication failure because I can login and browsethe AD. Also if I choose another AD user it works!3) I don't think it's a case sensitivity problem because it happensalso from EM. By the way, I verified the SAMAccountName AD property ofthe user and the name is all UpperCase.I checked lots of posts dealing with this matter but they don't seem toapply.Any help would be greatly appreciatedThanksDave
