Errors After Installing Server 2000 DTS Designer Components
Jan 30, 2007
Hello,
After Having installed the SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components necessary
to edit legacy DTS packages on 2005 server, I keep getting the following message when trying to open SQL Server 200 Enterprise Manager:
"The procedure entry point
?ProcessExecute@@YAXPAUHWND_@@PBG1@Z could not be located in teh dynamic link library SEMSFC.dll."
Is there a way to fix so that I can open Enterprise manager?
I kept getting DTS packages edit message before upgrading my DB from Upgrade advisor, even though I don't have any DTS package. Would someone help on how to Retain or restore the DTS Designer by obtaining and installing the special Web download of SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components?
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components has cause a total destruction of my Enterprise Manager.
In my workstation I've got Sql Server 2000 client and Sql Server 2005 client. Everything goes fine up to here. But when I've installed that MSI I have not been able to open my Enterprise Manager.
From MMC appears: Error initializing component CLSID: {xxx.xxx}
My goal was be able to open 2000 stuff from Sql Management Studio. By the moment, I'm forget of that.
Is there a X64 version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components from Feature pack for SQL Server 2005?
I have installed an X86 version on the AMD64 machine. But when I open a sql 2000 dts package, there is always a warning window.
The Message is as follows:
SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.LegacyActionBase.CreateLegacyDesigner() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.OpenLegacyPackageAction.Act(INodeInformation nodeInfo) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.DtsServerMenuItem.Invoke(INodeInformation parent, String mode, String assembly, String type)
There are two same assemblys called 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI' in the GAC, and one is GAC cache type, the other is zap cache type.
After installing the DTS 2000 designer components from the feature packI get the following error message when trying to open a package:
----------
SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)

The thing is that I have installed them!! so what's going on here, is there a registry key I need to remove or something?, I've uninstalled and re-installed them, rebooted the server numerous times but still no joy, SQL Server just tells me that they're not installed, as you can imagine this is a real pain as I cannot do anything with my legacy packages on the 2005 server.
I cannot just migrate the packages from my 2000 server as they are in daily use on a production server. Is there an option to migrate/copy packages but leave the source packages untouched?
Hi, I learned this from one of SSIS book-Migrating from Data Transformation Services to Integration Services in SQL.
For the design time components, Microsoft has created a special distribution called the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 DTS Designer Components. The Designer Components distribution replaces the components that get uninstalled when you upgrade your last instance of SQL Server 2000. If you want to upgrade all your SQL Server 2000 instances, this is the best and only option for recovering the DTS designer.
Is anybody heard of this 2005 DTS Designer component? Where to download? How it works? Any experience to will be appreciated.
Question I have Reporting Services up running in production. I want to create a place for internal employee's to go run report only related to daily business. Meaning I want two Sever Components to deploy reports to one for production (Customers) and one for internal(Intranet). Can this be done?
Can someone direct me to step by step intructions?
I have DFTs with around 50 components and future ETLs will have 100+ components in DFTs. I was wondering that is there anyway to group components like we have #region in C#.
Is it possible to install and configure the MSDTC resource in a SQL Server 2000 cluster after SQL is installed and running?
When I recently went through a rebuild of my cluster, I forgot to install the resource before installing SQL Server. Now, if I install and bring online the MSDTC resource the SQL disk groups will not fail over correctly. The SQL Server resource will not come online.
Thanks in advance for any help. I would really like to avoid rebuilding again.
I've been having horrific problems installing and working with SQL Server Express 2005. I installed SSE with the Visual Web Developer tool so I assumed that the instance would synch up; but it didn't (see log contents at end) so I opened up permissions wide open to all users, and even that didn't help. I don't know for sure but I suspect that the problem probably relates to my deleting SQL Server entries from the registry and all directories and files related to it on disk. After going through the process of uninstalling and reinstalling Express 2005 numerous times, I became frustrated and decided to pull out all stops. After reading and following all MSDN instructions and every blog and forum I could possibly locate on the subject, I could never resolve the problem of not reaching my database. I enabled all pipes and TCP/IP, etc. in the Configuration Manager, in both instances I had created; had run all command-line procedures recommended; and used cleanup programs that I could find, before reinstalling. I couldn't even get success in doing a test connection. I did get to a point where my ASP returned the message that it had connected but that the user didn't have permissions. I think I'm destined to working with Access, which is a shame since I have encouraged students in a Web development class I teach to work with the more powerful SQL Server products. They've had success with SQL Server, so I'm setting a bad example. Thanks in advance for help any of you can suggest. Server : w2k server sp4 Tablet : w2k sp4 Sql Server 2000
A few days ago we upgraded our servers and tablet pc's with sql server sp3a. At the same time we also changed the publisher and it now uses a static filter to reduce the number of records in the tablet database. Since we have done this we have been getting an error message when we try to synchronize via the windows synchronization manager on our tablet pc's. The error message is "mobsync.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. I looked up the error message and it is a stack overflow. This does not happen every time but about 50% of the time. We can always sync from within enterprise manager and everything works fine every time.
If any one has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance.
Hallo, i've installed SQL2005 - Standard-Edition, but i forgott to install the Server Management Studio. Next I installed SP2. After that i tried to install the Server Management Studio, but the Installation failed. ("The Installed Version is newer than the version you try to install" or something like that) The system told me to use the skuupgrade-option, but it doesnt work. Is there any possibility to install the Management-Studio in the SP2-Version?
Is there a way to use a custom component programmatically (I'm using C# to create and run my packages) without installing a compiled .dll of the class into the SQL folders and the GAC? For instance, can I instantiate my custom component and somehow pass it to be used in a task in my code.
I am not sure where to ask this question. So I figured here may be ok
I have several DTS 2000 packages and I have SQL 2005 installed on my local machine. However the rest of the company is still using SQL 2000 (for now). So I do not want to convert them to ssis yet. One of the things we just did to the packages is make all flat files use \localhost and any servers point to (local). Now in ssis this works fine but using the DTS 2000 package designer it does not like either of these at all. The reason we wanted to do this is so when we switch out servers there is no changes to our DTS packages.
Hello. I am trying to install only the Workstation Components portion of SQL Server 2005 and I get about halfway through and the installation errors out. The error is:
This happens after the second disk of the installation is about halfway through installing and then it throws an error stating that "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume SQLSRVRS into drive D. Cancel, Try Again, Continue" I replace the disc with the first disc and if I pick "Continue" it will display the error above. If I pick "Try again" the installation finishes, but there are components missing from Visual Studio.
When I installed SP1 on my SQL Server 2005, the performance of the package designer dropped enormously. I have to wait like 30 seconds after I drag-and-drop a datasource from the toolbox to the design area. Also it takes a very long time to run the very simple package. Not to mention opening some complicated package that was done before applying SP1. The package scheduled in SQL Agent went from 3-4min to 5-6min.
Can anyone address this issue? Maybe there's something I did wrong?
While installing SP1 I ecountered strange behaviour (some messages about file locking, rebooting and stuff), but in the end it said that it was successful
Hi, pls can anyone help me out with this? I'm installing SQL2005 SP2 over an Itanium machine with W2003 SP2 but it keeps on failing on those features. Client components got installed with no problems. I've installed SQL2005-SP2 over x86 and x64 (not Itanium) machines many times before successfuly. I've been investigating this issue for several days with no luck so I'm a bit clueless at the moment. As I'm using Administrator account I think it is not file permission related. Summary says "Unable to install Windows Installer MSP file".
We have a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3 running database for Microsoft Navision 3.7
From time we encounter problems, especially when running heavy query procedures from Navision, with the transaction log. It's actually setup as folows:
We get the following errors (once every 2-3 months so far):
The log file for database 'ME_Prod' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space..
in between numerous abovementioned messages I have the following: Configuration option 'show advanced options' changed from 1 to 1. Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install..
Could not write a CHECKPOINT record in database ID 9 because the log is out of space.
Automatic checkpointing is disabled in database 'ME_Prod' because the log is out of space. It will continue when the database owner successfully checkpoints the database. Free up some space or extend the database and then run the CHECKPOINT statement.

HiI am trying to find out best practices for SQL Server 2000 installsfor corporate servers. We currently have someone doing it 'in theirspare time!' (I kid you not). When installing SQL server 2000 out ofthe box on a freshly formatted machine, I would like to get somefeedback on the following:1) I believe the 'sa' account should be removed at earliestopportunity, after install.2) Should there be any processes running under the 'sa' account is themachine was correctly configured to use a domain account principle? Iwas under the impression that this was not the case?Any links to information on best practices would be appreciated.Regards,Mitch
There are two sql servers with the same database in different locations with replication running on them. Users in the two locations insert or update date on there own database through an ms access application . The data are replicated to both servers. Someone wanted a copy of the database and they dropped replication, but users continue to modify and add data on both servers and so replication could not be back again without merging the two databases as one again and restarting replication. My job was to merge the databases and make replication work and after allot of work all is fine. I copy and attached the database on my pc that I set up as a server and did the job. Then I went back on both servers that had replication running before I attached the database and set the subscriber and publisher and all was fine to that point. The database has six groups with permissions on them and many database users on each location. Both the groups and the users show on the database. I create a new login and user and I add him to the groups to get the permissions. Now back on a user pc I login with the new user name run the ms access application and try to add some new records, but I get errors that I cannot insert null values to two of the fields in several tables in the database. This was not happening before and the database was recording the values in those fields namely the user name and the date that the new record was created. After some reading I found out that I might need to set the groups and permissions on the views and tables from the beging but Im not an expert. Any ideas? Thanks allot George

Is it possible to install sql server enterprise edition on an xp machine (home or professional)? I tried both (w/sp2) and it said it can only be run as a client.
I have a test box (Server 2000) with a Default SQL Server Enterprise Instance (Enterprise Edition). Yesterday I installed a new Named Instance and rebooted. I then began applying SP4. It ran through part of the install and it hung on "Setup is preparing to copy Files" and there it sat all night. It is still hung here. Both Instances seem to be performing normally.
Any suggestions on what I should do??? Can I or should I cancel the sp4 install?
I have a problem installing SQL Server 2000 standard edition in a Windows 2003 Server , when I try to setup there is a message saying : " You cannot install SQL server 2000 sp 2 and below in this operating system " and the installation stops .
I have tried to run sp3 before the installation but obviously It doesn´t work . I think the solution is something like updating the setup program to make it work in Windows 2003 Server , when I see the system requirements on the box it says that I can install SQL server 2000 in w2003 .
I am trying to install MS SQL Server 2000 on my PC which is running WinXP SP2. At the ending of the setup I get an error stating that 'Could not start server. Refer to sqlsetup.log for more details'
Here is an excerpt from the log where the error occurs:
