Errors After Moving Packages To 64-bit Machine
Jan 15, 2008
Hi,
I have a bunch of SSIS packages that were created on a 32-bit machine (OS as well as SQL Server) where they run without error. I have moved them to a machine with a 64-bit OS as well as 64-bit Enterprise SQL Server, SP2. Initially I encountered errors with the packages that contained Script Transformation tasks where I had to set PreCompile=True. This allowed me to execute the packages individually. When I try and execute them as a batch, I encounter errors on various packages. They don't seem to be consistent - sometimes the error occurs on one package, the next time it will be on a different package. Sometimes they occur pre-execute, sometimes post-execute. Here are a couple of example errors:
[OLE DB Command [1007]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Communication link failure". An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ".
[Insert Destination [1177]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Communication link failure". An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "TCP Provider: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ".
The source database is on a different server, but the destination database is on the same server as the SSIS packages for testing purposes. Any information would be appreciated...
Thanks.

Hi everybody,
I moved my packages to the new machine, and have problem with parent variables.
When child package tries to get parent variable value I get an error:
Information: 0x40016042 at LoopPackage: The package is attempting to configure from the parent variable "MAIN_SesId".
Warning: 0x80012028 at LoopPackage: Process configuration failed to set the destination at the package path of "Package.Variables[User::MAIN_SesId].Properties[Value]". This occurs when attempting to set the destination property or variable fails. Check the destination property or variable.
Thanks, for any information.

hello everyone. i am new to the group so i aplogize if this question hasbeen answered recently...our sql db machine is too old. we bought a new server with which to replaceit. the trick is, we want to keep the name of the machine and db instancethe same.obviously, we don't plan on having two machine with the same name on thenetwork at the same time. how do we handle this?my first thought is to name the new machine with a new name (mach2),transfer over all the db's, take the old one (mach1) off of the network.rename the machine/instance to the old one (mach1).if i do this, can i drop the original instance on the new machine(mach2)-->register the new (mach1)? will my data be there? Thanks so much for any relplies!!!

SQL Server 2005, when moving a machine to a different domain and changing the hostname the logins such as domainSQLServer2005MSSQLUSER$hostname$MSSQLSERVER are still showing the old hostname and domain name. Does anyone know what impact this has on the system and also if there is anyway to update these accounts without reinstalling SQL Server?

Hey,
I have copied a C# express edition project from another machine and have opened the project up and changed the connection string but the project is not updating the database when I try to insert values from textboxes in forms. They seem do be getting into the dataset but not the sql datatabase.
I am getting alot of messages saying that it could not find the schema information for the dataset. Could these errors have anything to do with the project?
What else do I have to change in the project?
Thanks in advance.

We plan on moving our sql 2000 db's to a sql server 2005 box this week.
What's the best way to point RS to the new database machine?
I'm not extremely familiar with Reporting Services and would like to know are there any "gotchas" in doing this?
Thanks

Hi everybody.
I have such problem:
After I move my integration services packege to another machine it failed. I tried to recreate connection manager, but result is the same. If I create a simple SQL task in that package and try to execute it - it fails with info:
SSIS package "Main_Package.dtsx" starting.
Error: 0xC00291EC at Execute SQL Task, Execute SQL Task: Failed to acquire connection "SRV-DSA3.TIA_EXTRACTS_OriginalData.sa". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
Task failed: Execute SQL Task
SSIS package "Main_Package.dtsx" finished: Success.
But when I create it(SQL task) in the new package - it works perfectly. Maybe somebody could help solving this problem.
Thanks for any information.

Books On Line makes breaking out the report server databases on to a separate machine from the report server itself sound very easy. I have tried it and it is but I can't get the report server to connect to the databases once they are on the other machine.
Everything was done by the book(s). We use SSRS only for intranet use so all inside firewall. The SQL Server 2005 services on both machines (including the RS Windows service) all run as the same domain administrator account, this account was used to log in to RS Config Tool and it was told to use this account under Windows Authentication to connect to the database server. The two machines are in the same domain, even on the same switch. The only difference is the one with report server on is Windows 2000 Server SP4 and the one to which the rs databases are moving is Windows Server 2003 SP1. The account mentioned above has sysadmin rights on both SQL Servers, as well as having all the RSExecRole rights as specified in BOL. And it has rights to logon as a service in group policy on both machines. Its password hasn't been changed.
The RS Config Tool completed fine and reported no errors.
But when you try to connect to the report server you get the error:
"The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. The logon failed. (rsReportServerDatabaseLogonFailed)" The log shows that a privilege required by the client is missing but doesn't specify what! I thought this was all taken care of when the RS Config Tool told it which account to connect with.
This is driving me daft. It should be so easy!! Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Nothing says I need to do anything with the encryption key when I am keeping the report server itself exactly as it was and just moving the catalog - or have I missed something here?
Grateful for any ideas.

I moved an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express to a different server and now receive the following error:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error occurred in the Microsoft .NET Framework while trying to load assembly id 65538. The server may be running out of resources, or the assembly may not be trusted with PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS or UNSAFE. Run the query again, or check documentation to see how to solve the assembly trust issues. For more information about this error:
System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'xmpdbif, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An error relating to security occurred.
I have read about a resolution that requires you to change the db owner on select databases; I have contacted the software provider to see what users own what databases. I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on this as well.

I have SQL Server 2005 installed on a Vista Home Premium edition machine. I want to open my DTS packages on this machine in order to have a look at them.
I have installed the SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components on this machine. I have also rebooted after the installation.
However, I still get the message
"SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages.
Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components"
to use this feature"
I have previously done this on an XP machine with no problems. Does anyone know if this is an issue and what the possible solution is?

Hi all, ive got a problem creating a sql connection.
Lets start from the beginning. I open Visual Studio, create a new empty website and then go to add a new SQL Database (new item > SQL Database). It asks me if i want to put this into the App_Data folder (which i choose 'yes' to), and then this error comes up...
I then decided to try a website template i found that i know works (because i got it running on Visual Studio at work), and this error comes up when i try to build the site...#
Heres a snippet of my machine.config...
Sorry about all the screenshots but im new to sql connections etc. Its all works fine at work and i can add a new database connection etc, but on my Home machine (Vista Ultimate, Visual Studio 2005 Pro, SQL Express).
Im sure its something to do with the machine.config, but i dont know how to rebuild it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi boys and girls, I am a total newbie to ms sql. So please be gentle.
I have a ms sql database on one server but I need a duplicate of the ms sql database on another server with all packages and jobs duplicated on the new server.
I was able to export the database over to the new database on the new server no problems there.
The problem is under DTS I have "local packages" that all need to be moved to the new server. I am able to export them into my computer. But on the new server there is no import for the local packages. How do I get these packages onto the new server into my server's ms sql???
Also under the management and sql agent manager, there are jobs that are on the old db, that I need to go to the new server in ms sql.
Any help at all would be appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!

I am trying to move a package to another server, the package is on the file system and I made certain that the folders are the same and the paths match.
However when executing on the other server I get an error 0xC0012050 whil loadin package file...package failed validation from the Execute Package task. The package cannot run.
The path in the error is correct and the package name is correct.
This is one package executing 2 other packages.
Also then when it tried to run the package I received the "package cannot run" error - I received the ODBC error 08001 error during OPENP in DBOpen ERROR [08001] PLAN ALREADY EXISTS.
Am I getting the second error because I received the first error that the Package cannot run?
How do I determine why the package cannot run on the other server?

HI!!
I've been working for an year or so with DTS, but it still makes me mad with it's cryptic error messages!!!!
"The task reported failure on execution" is one of the "funny" error messages I retrieve. I've tried with the log option, but error messages stored there are as cryptic as the one shown on the screen!!!!!
Timothy Peterson in "MS SQL Server 2000 DTS" provides code chunks that can be used to "decode" numerical error messages into something readable and understandable, but I really don't realize where should I put that code :( It seems to work only if you are executing packages via Visual Basic, and not using the MMC
That's it, I really do need help with this!!!!!!! I beleive that there's someone out there that had faced and solved this problem !
Thanks in advance

I am having strange errors with a package when running locally that has not been an issue before.
The main symtom is that several Data Flow Tasks are either not inserting records on the destination or are only inserting 1 single record before the package errors with the error shown below.
Strangely, the debugger will show X # of records from source and destination, but either no records are actually written or, again, in many cases, only 1 single record is written. This is very strange.
App, System and Security logs yield no indication of security or other errors. All I have to go on is the above anomolies and the error message provided below.
Below is the error message, can someone help me decrypt it?
Many thanks,
Rick

I have few DTSX packages on my SQL server 2005. These packages are supposed to transfer data and stored procedures from server to client Express engine. The scenario is that when user connects with the server he should run some kind of utility or any other way to run those SSIS packages so that the data could be transfered.
Remember the user machine has only SQL Express Engine and the packages are in SQL server 2005 machine.
Can any one help me out how to achive this scenario?

II am using file system for the SSIS Packages. I have several packages in a project. Most of these packages use configuration files. Infact there are several packages which use the same configuration files. Now when I try to run the build utility, it errors out saying that the name.dtsconfig file already exists. Seems like this is a bug. I would really like to use this utility.I know if the config file is not used in any other pacakge probably the build will not fail. But it is not good practice to have one config file for each package, it is redundancy, does not make sense to that. Is there any way I can use the build and deployment utility without this error.
Please advice.
Thank you.

I have been tasked with upgrading around 150 SQL Server 2000 DTS packages to SSIS in SQL Server 2005 standard edition. I made a backup of the 2000 database upon which the DTS packages operate and restored it to the SQL 2005 server. So far, so good. I have the database in place. Now I need to get the DTS packages themselves into the SLQ 2005 server. I think I need to check my install and make sure that I have the SQL Server 2000 DTS services installed on the SQL 2005 server. I can do that.
However, I wonder what would be the most effective way to physically get the packages from the SQL 2000 server to the SQL 2005 server. Should I use structured storage files? If so, how do I go about opening them in SQL 2005 in order to save them to SQL server 2005?
I should mention that these packages make heavy use of ActiveX scripting so I am looking at rewriting them from scratch to be SSIS packages. I just need the packages on the SQL Server 2005 box so I can make sure I am creating exactly the same functionality in 2005 as existed in SQL server 2000. Each DTS 2000 individual package tends to be fairly simple and I think I can greatly improve the process by consolidating them.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm experiencing some frustration with my active/passive SQL cluster not running my .DTSX packages. I am hoping someone can shed some light on what I need to do.
I've created some .DTSX packages with the SQL Server Business Intel Dev Studio. I initially built & tested these packages in a non-SQL cluster environment without any problems. I'm now re-creating them to work on our SQL cluster. If I run the package through the Dev Studio it works great.
The packages basically grab .txt files from one of the shared drives (which is a resource of the sql cluster group) and imports the data into the one of the databases. The database does not have any special settings (right-click -> new database... -> enter name -> click ok).
I've setup a SQL Server Agent Job with 1 step with the following properties.
Step name: I Offices
Type: SQL Server Integration Services Package
Run as: SQL Agent Service Account
Package source: File system
Package: G:ImportRAGFLOffices.dtsx
When I run the SQL Server Agent Job through MSSQL Server Management Studio (right-click -> start job) I get an error on "Execute job 'RAGFL TestJob'".
These are the 2 messages that show up when I view the history of the SQL Server Agent job.
