Errors In The High-level Relational Engine. A Connection Could Not Be Made To The Data Source With The DataSourceID Of '
Feb 7, 2006
When I deploy the cube which is sitting on my PC (local) the following 4 errors come up:
Error 1 The datasource , 'AdventureWorksDW', contains an ImpersonationMode that that is not supported for processing operations. 0 0
Error 2 Errors in the high-level relational engine. A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of 'Adventure Works DW', Name of 'AdventureWorksDW'. 0 0
Error 3 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the dimension, with the ID of 'Customer', Name of 'Customer' was being processed. 0 0
Error 4 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'Customer Alternate Key' attribute of the 'Customer' dimension from the 'Analysis Services Tutorial' database was being processed. 0 0
We have a need for getting data from sqlserver DB on premise to the cloud. DB is not encrypted currently, other applications are accessing it but those applications are on premise. Following link talks about encrypted connection, but is it possible to encrypt only one of the port connection. we can add a custom port.URL...
The problem that I am having is that with Visual Web Developer I am creating a webpage and having it directly put online, so for example when I start a new ASP.NET page, I select the location to be HTTP, with the location http://MYWEBSERVER/Website and for the language and Visual BasicI notice a couple of things, first that there is no longer a a link under the Main toolbar "Website" selection called the ASP.NET configuration. So how can I configure what I want to have users be able to do? It seems that this choice is only available if I am building the ASP.NET page on my "localhost". So that is the first problem. So I am able to get the pages to work, atleast the things such as the textboxes to show up etc, (Even things as advanced as the "Login" box). How ever when I try to get someone to try to login I am taken to a page that has an server error. The error is: "The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file. " The Stack Trace Errors are at the bottom. I think this is happening because the automatically generated databases are not getting built online as they are on my computer. On my computer I have MSSQL express. So either the databases are not getting built for some reason, (and I think that is the case as I don't see any in the folder). So I think that somehow I have to create a database on my server, and then somehow configure the ASP.NET file, perhaps in the Web.Config file to look for that new database. Is this the correct methodology? Is there some simpler way that I can just somehow upload things as they are and have them work correctly on my server? The error says that either the Server did not find the database or that the trust level was insufficient. I don't think that is it as I just looked again and I don't see any .MDF files. So how would I go about getting this to work right? Is there a way to do this with MySQL also? So that I don't have to use MSSQL? My server only allows 1 DataBase for that. Thanks and I hope my question makes sense. It is basically how can I get it to be able to create and check users etc. online? Hi, Can anybody please explain me, what is low level and high level locking in SQL Server 2005 database. Also what is the name of process which converts low level locking into high level locking and vise versa. -Sanjeev
Is it possible to force row level locking in Sql server 2015 before inserting the data and release the same afterwords..find the code for which we would like to impliment the same
Is there a way to alter the isolation level of a data source? I have queries with nolock hints that I would like to remove in favor of "set isolation level read uncommitted" but this is not allowed in the report builder. I cannot move to SPs as I'm working in a third-party apps database. I guess I'm wishing for the SSIS style of isolation setting where it's a member of the properties.
I've question about how to handle structural datamodel changes in a datasource of PowerPivot. Suppose I'm developing a starmodel in SQL Server and sometimes a datatype changes or a name of a field changes in a table. It seems to me that PowerPivot handle this not gracefully as Analysis MD does (mostly). I received an error because of a wrong fieldname or even no error when a dattype changes in PowerPivot. Is this common or do I something wrong here. Does this mean that every time the datamodel changes the PowerPivot should be recreated? Or am I missing the clue here?
I have set up a new connection as a connection from data source, but I cannot see how to use this connection to create my Data Flow Source. I have tried using an OLE DB connection, but this is painfully slow! The process of loading 10,000 rows takes 14 - 15 minutes. The same process in Access using SQL on a linked table via DSN takes 45 seconds.
Have I missed something in my set up of the OLE DB source / connection? Will a DSN source be faster?
ASP.NET v 2.0 application uses this SQL 2005 server consists of 10 webservers. Max Pool Size on each was changed today to 300 (was default so I suppose - 100) and it didnt change logins/sec graph at all. Application uses SqlConnection object from ADO.NET v 2.0 obviously.
Can someone explain - what could be reasonable explanation - is load that high? Do we need 3000 as Max Pool Size? (I cant imagine what could be maximum recommended size of pool for W2003 32-bit server)
in a prior "legacy" life we couldn't imagine 24x7 implementations because it was important to 1) reorganize databases periodically to remove fragmentation that adversely affected performance and 2) back up databases just in case.
In a 24x7 SQL Server 2005 implementation, high level only, how are these and other maintenance related things accomplished with confidence?
I dont think SQL cleanses its own page splits unsolicited. Are DBAs totally reliant on logs in full recovery installations where db must be up 24x7? What if the devices those logs sit on fail? What if the logs become too large? Is it likely that if you want 24x7 you're looking at Enterrise Edition only?
I'm totally aware of and confident in the sliding window partitioning thing but it seems to me there must be more out there in terms of periodic, more frequent maintenance activity.
Hello, we have a customer-facing ASP.NET web reporting application that allows the user to a). select a report b). make report settings (filter, sort, include/exclude columns), and c). run the report. An Oracle stored proc is used to return the data into a DataSet. Today the output is displayed in a bound, paginated DataGrid.
We€™d like to €˜plug-in€™ Reporting Services for improved formatting, grouping, matrix reporting, drilldown, graphics, etc.. I have read through the online docs, examples, and tutorials but have not found the exact (high-level) information I€™m looking for.
We need to keep our report settings page, Oracle SP architecture, etc... Is there a way to simply hand off a dynamically created DataSet to a report for display €“ like binding to the DataGrid? The data (query) would be specific to a report but columns can be selected/unselected for display. In terms of deployment, is it necessary to install SQL Server in each environment (DEV-Integration, QA, PROD) to support Reporting Services? Since we are essentially an Oracle shop, this could be a tough sell. Is it possible to develop the report on a dev workstation (perhaps with SQL Server), and then publish to a web server where SQL Server is not installed?
These are obviously high-level questions - any help will be appreciated (examples, how-to's, etc..) €“ thanks in advance. -Bill
Today I was making a few reports. When I tested the reports in Visual Studio, they worked great: I got the expected result. But when I deployed the reports to our reportserver the problem started. When I click on the directory in which my reports are deployed, I got my 4 reports. Till now everything worked correct. But when I click on a report to view the results it went wrong. I got an error: "Cannot create a connection to data source 'Live'" (Live is the name of our data source).
We are using the Windows Logons and I am sure that I have all the rights on the server, I gave myself 'sysadmin' rights, so it should work. I also have tried it with all the roles assigned on my account, but then it still won't work.
When I modify the data source, and set it to another server en database it works. The datasource 'Live' exists on a x64 MsSQL server, en the other datasource is on a x86 MsSQL server. Maybe that is the problem?
I am working in a distributed environment, I verified msgs have been successfully send from server1 db1 to server2 db2, but I still get the following error msg from the sender server through SQL profile:
Connection attempt failed with error: '10061(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)'.
I've created a SSIS Solution and have created Data Sources. I have two packages. One was created before the Data Sources, and one was created after. The package that was created after is using connections from the Data Sources. I want to change the package before the Data Soruces were created to use them, but when I right click in the Connection Managers pane "New Connection From Data Source.." is not an option.
We are going insane trying to start Report Manager on a SQL Reporting Services 2000 installation. The programmer/admin who originally set this up for us is gone.
We recently upgraded a database/application server to a new server, causing the data source being used by reports in reporting services to no longer be valid. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the original report project to 're-deploy' with the corrected data source.
We desperately need to get the reports that are installed to retrieve their data from the new database location/machine. We understand this can be done by specifying a new data source in Report Manager. (To clarify, we have NOT moved the report servier installation or database, these remain in place - it's just the deployed reports that no longer point to the correct data source.)
For some reason, our Report Manager will no longer run - when we try to launch it, we get a windows login dialog - nothing will work here. We've tried both local and domain admins and constantly get ACCESS IS DENIED 401.3 error messages that we do not have permission/problems with ACL's.
We've gone so far as to allow EVERYONE read/write access to the ReportManager and ReportServer folders and the RS virtual directories, but nothing seems to help.
Can anyone help with this? Ideas on how to change our data source, or how to get back into Report Manager?
Since we are somewhat technical, but not experts, and don't have much more time to waste, we are willing to pay $500 for this project to someone willing to access the server and fix the problem so that the reports point to the correct database and restore access to Report Manager.
We have Windows Server 2008R2 installed on VM Server. On that we have three SQL instances running. From few past months we are observing physical memory is going high. Earlier we observed it was at 86-88%, now it is 96-97%.We have 16RAM & 8 CPU cores on VM. what is the best and ideal configuration so that we can rectify the high physical memory issue.
I think this might be a good place to ask the following question.
I am writing the error handling code for my data access layer for a web application. I am using the Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block. Although this supports generic database connections, I realized that I need to handle errors specific to each database type. Microsoft SQL is the only database type I am using for now, so I am using a try...catch (SqlException e).
In testing my code, I intentionally changed the instance name in web.config to a name that does not exist. I get the very popular error 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified. This is returned as a SqlException, but the SqlError.Number property is set to -1.
Am I getting "-1" because the provider hasn't actually connected to SQL yet, so it doesn't have an actual SQL error number? Can I assume that (SqlError.Number == -1) is always a fatal, provider-level connection exception? Will the provider ever use another SqlError.Number of its own? Or do all numbers besides -1 come from the SQL sysmessages table?. Is there a comprehensive list of what exceptions might be raised by the SqlClient provider, including #26?
The reason for all the questions is that in a web application, I want to prevent the end-user from seeing the "real" exception if it has to do with configuration errors. However, maybe there are other errors that the user should see and handle? It's hard to know without a full list of SqlClient provider errors, along with the SqlError.Number that each error maps to.
Backing up all databases on a sql server that hosts secondary high availability databases as well as other databases. Â The other databases back up fine, but the high availability secondaries all get the same error:

RE: XML Data source .. Expression? Variable? Connection? Error: unable to read the XML data.
I want my XML Data source to be an expression as i will be looping through a directory of xml files.
I don't see the expression property or the connection property??
I tried setting the XMLData property to @[User::filename], but that results in:

Was wondering if there was a best practice minimum permissions for creating a SQL login to use when setting up a new shared Data source for SSRS report manager?
Something along the lines of them being a data read for the DB and permissions to update tempdb?
Would have thought it not advisable to have the login be able to update the main db...
Setup is a common VB.NET application, SQL back, with 5-10 users. Occassionaly from another VB.NET app, I'll need to run a process to upload and insert a handful of records. The records are somewhat large with 100+ fields that require a handful of SELECT and UPDATE statements making the server 'busy' for several minutes.
Independently, the Main application and the Upload application work just fine. It's only when users are active in the main application during the time of the 'upload' process. It's almost as if they 'bump' into each other and the server throws up errors on either app even simple SQL statements. The same tables are being queried, but it doesn't feel like a concurrency issue.
Are these problems expected when running somewhat of a high load? Any ideas on how to make these guys work together without them fighting? Shouldn't SQL be able to handle the statements even during the barrage of update queries and requests? What happens in situations with hundreds or even thousands of users simultaneously accessing?
I am trying to view report that i deployed to reporting service but when i try to view it, it gives error:
An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'INVC'. For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
For seting up the connection should we use Connection Manager or New Connection From Data Source?
The advantage of using Data Source is that we have the connection avalilable at project level but I've studied it somewhere that Data Source is used for SSAS not SSIS.
But I don't have enough explanation to give it to my team, that why I am not using Data Source.
We are working on VSS, do we have to reset the connection managers if want to test our packages on some other machine(else than the one on which it was developed)?
My software vendor limits the sessions to one (1) per log-in to Oracle 9i and I€™m having tons of problems trying to extract data through an SSIS package. Everytime I run the package SSIS already logged in and the OLE DB source fails because of the sessions exceeded error. Is there any way to limit the connection to just when I need the data to pump across on the OLE DB source?
I don't really understand the difference between the "data source" and the "connection manager" in a SSIS solution.
I tried to create a data source (if I understood correctly, I will ba able to share that connection between all packages in the solution), then I create a new connection manager inside a package. But when I make a modification in the data source, nothing change in the connection manager ?!!?
What I think is that when I'm making a new connection manager, what's really happen is a copy of the data source, is that correct ? If it is I dont't understand the avantage of making a new data source ....
Why is it that sometimes I get this error and sometimes not after I deploy the same shared data souce to my Report Server?
Even if I try deleting the datasouce through Report Manager the redeploy it from VS 2005, it still errors out when I run my report. I am able to run my report fine in VS.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'mydatasourcenamehere'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote error
I cannot get this error resolve either for myself or any users, and I'm actually part of the Admin group! Furthermore, a user with whom I'm tring allow to view this report keeps getting prompted for their windows username and password. I thought that since this datasource was set to Windows Authentification that it would just pass it through?
Also As far as I know, I've given sufficient permissions to the right logins and right users on my SQL Databases and related stored procs that the datasets (not datasource) run
An error has occurred during report processing.

I posted the same issue before, but I couldn't find the solution yet. I am posting this agian cos I tried almost everything and I am not able to solve the issue.
Let me explain what is happening here:
Server A - is my development local machine
Server B - is the remote reporting server, where all reports are deployed
Server C - is where the databases are located
- After successfully deploying the project (the reports and datasources) on the remote server and try to run the report , I am getting the following error message
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'dsCallB'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
- I tried to deploy and run the same report on my local machine report server(Server A), which is still accessing the same database from Server C. This works fine.
So from this we can understand that A ==> B ==> C is not working, however A ==>C works fine(using Server A as a report server).
I almost tried all the possible solutions that are posted on the forum, such as storing the credential information on the report server (server B), created a data source, which is not a shared data source, on the report server level e.t.c. and I ended up with nuthin.
The weired thing is that there are existing reports that are already created and deployed(by somebody else) in the report server (server B) , which access the database on Server C. These existing reports run with no problem, even I can create a report which uses the existing data source and runs perfectly. However, when I create a new report which uses a different data source (from Server C), and deploy it to Server B and tried to run it, the above error message comes.
Hi! I've created a project includen 3 reports based on following code on 3 server. The report includes 3 different datasources an 3 different report. All 3 reports are grouped on Database and summerizad zise.
SELECT
SD.name [Database],
SMF.name [File],
SMF.size [Size]
FROM
sys.master_files SMF INNER JOIN sys.databases SD
ON SD.database_id = SMF.database_id
I can run all reports in Visual Studio (preview). But I can only run one the reports after depolying the project! I get this message when I raun the other 2 reports:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'uasql02_datasource'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
I tried running the report from an server (where reportingservices is installed) finding that all the reports works as they should. I logged in another server with the same credentials. I got same message on the server as I get on my own camputer, "Cannot create a connection to data source ..."
Is there anybody out there having same problem as I, or someone who has any suggestion?
I have sql server 2000 Personal Edition with service pack 4 loaded on a laptop running Windows XP and I'm trying to install a program that automatically loads all the tables and files to the SQL Server.
I keep getting the following error:
Your connection could not be created. Check your settings. The error was: Login failed for user "FileArch"
The program had been previously loaded on this laptop and I had to rebuild the hard drive. When I check Enterprise manager I see in Databases that the FileArch database is in Master as opposed to its own database.
The database missing is called FileArch.
If anyone can provide me with help to solve this I'd be grateful as a new member.
