I install add-in and run fine for a while, then all of sudden I could not see Table Analyze tool and data mining tab at my ribbon. I re-run server configuration and re-connect to DMAddinDB (remote server, but I am the administrator), but data mining add-in and table analyzer still not showing at my ribbon.
Then I uninstall DMAddin, re-install it, go through configuration again, but still the tabs are not showing up.
I am trying to model data in analysis services with the Advance Create Mining Model function in the excel addin. I am having trouble creating an association model that works like the Associate button above the Advanced button.
The format of my data is like this

100 Shoes
200 Helmet
200 basketball
200 Bat
300 Shoes
300 Socks
The associate button works perfectly since it asks me which column is the transaction id (orderid) and which column I am trying to predict (product). The advanced create mining model asks me to determine what the columns are...
OrderID=key Product=Input+Predict?
When I run the advance create mining model associate, I get a browser that gives me no rules and the support for only one item itemset (each product but no combination of products).
Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to work like the associate button?
I downloaded a trial version of office 2007 and the data mining addin. I do not have an automatic connection to Analysis Services, so most functionality does not work. Is it possible to configure a connection with a trial version? If so, does anyone know what the server name is and how to configure it?
- a data mining structure with about 80 columns. - a data mining model using Microsoft_Decision_Trees with 2 prediction columns.Â
I thought I would then explore the possibility of have more than 2 prediction columns, in this case 20.
I get an error message and I can't work out : a) if this is because there's a limit to the maximum number of prediction columns and where that maximum is stated. b) if something else has become corrupted c) there's a know bug and if the error message is either meaningful or not.
Either way, I'm unable to complete the data mining wizardÂ
The error message is :Errors in the metadata manager. Either the mining structure with the ID of '[my model Structure]' does not exist in the database with the ID of 'DMAddinsDB', or the user does not have permissions to access the object.
Implementing data mining Add-in in an academic setting? We need to handle over 150 new students a semester and have their connection to Analysis Services survive for their four years at the college. We are introducing data mining to every freshman business student as a unit within their Intro to Excel class (close to a month of work to give them a sense of what is possible). Other courses later in their curriculum will expand on that introduction.Â
Once implemented, we would have as many as 900 connections to manage (four years from now). It is possible that multiple sections will be running at the same time, so 40 students may be accessing the data mining tools concurrently. Â
Is there a way to "bulk establish" the access credentials and establish those databases?
I am running the Office Professional Plus 2007 RTM with all options enabled and SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition. Based on the system requirements listed on the download page for the Office 2007 Data Mining Add-In, I've also verified that I have the correct CTP of SQL 2005 SP2 and that .Net 2.0 Framework is installed. Finally, I've verified that my local instance of SQL Server is configured correctly to allow temporary data mining models.
In Excel, all of the Table Analysis tools seem to work fine, and most of the options on the Data Mining ribbon also work; however, all of the options under "Data Modeling" on the Data Mining ribbon return the following error when I try to use them:
"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.DataWarehouse, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependents. The system cannot find the file specified."
Data mining add-in for Office Visio 2007 is great. But what I am concerning is-to end users (to technical users) how could we deliver the data mining models results in a better way (e.g. integrate with other possible clients ) to make it dynamically and easily undertood?
after i installed sql server 2005 DM add-ins, i tried using it with office 2007 so i choose (start---->all programs----->microsoft sql 2005 dm add-ins---->getting started) so the getting started wizzard was opened, i selected from it (use an existing instance of microsoft sql server 2005 analysis services that i adminster) because i already had a version of it installed on my computer. then i tried to connect to analysis services by selecting 'server name'=local host, an error appeared which is "unable to discover meta data on the server 'local host' . user noha needs to be adminstrator of the server to run the configuration tool". how can i be the adminstrator of the server?????????.........plz reply me soon,thanks in advance

I am trying to export data from database to excel 2007 file on my machine. I have downloaded the provider for office 2007 and I have XP with sp2 and SQL server 2005 with SP2. I havn't installed office 2007 on my machine,but I have a excel file which is created in office 2007.To get acess of read and write i have downloaded office compatibilty pack too,So I can read and write into the file. Now I am creating one SSIS package to export data into excel file.But I m not able to coause I am getting some errors like

My vendor requires data to be sent in Excel format. Some of my tables have rows over 65,536 so I need to use Excel 2007 (Max of 1,048,576). Right now my data sits in SQL 2000. I am using MS SQL Enterprise Manager 8.0 to prepare the data. Is there some kind of add on or selection I am missing to use DTS to export from SQL to Excel 2007?Thanks in advance.
I have an Excel 2007 file which contains values in specific cells like A23, D30 etc. I want to populate the values in these cells using SSIS packages into individual rows of an SQL table. How can this be achieved ?
We have a excel 2007 file with a Pivot Table in it. We would like to use the same as data source (But all the source fields as it comes for Pivot). The key issue is that the data to the pivot is from a connection and points to DB - but there is no access to DB. So the Excel is static to us with a PIVOT in it.
Is there a way to get all the data that is avaialble as a source for pivot.
Ex. The select query has co1,co2....co 11 from xxxxx whereas the PIVot HAS ONLY cO1, CO2 AS ROW, CO3,CO4 AS COL, CO5 AS VALUE AND CO6,CO7 AS FILTER AND OTHERS MISSED OUT IN PIVOT.
THe SSIS as such provide Excel 2007 access to Access OLE DB driver with Excel 12 setting in advanced tab. But not sure whether we can give the range (or) a way around ot get all the data as available in excel regardless of what is used only in the pivot.
I am in the process up testing an upgrade from XP to Vista, and the only thing that I am running into is that my linked servers for Excel that I defined no longer work.
The spreadsheet that I am trying to open is in the 97-2003 format (not the 2007 format), yet I keep getting the same error message "Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "TEST1"
Has anyone successfully created a linked server to an Excel spreadsheet on Vista, and if so, please can you provide some insight into what I am doing wrong.
I tried creating a linked server on an XP box running MS Office 2007, and it worked without any issues.
I made a package in SSIS to copy some data from SQL server 2005 SP2 to Excel 2007. The package works fine, but generate errors. If I replace the OLE DB destination for Excel 2007 with a Excel destination for Excel 2003 then they errors don't appear. The problem is that I have to use Excel 2007 because the data contains more than 65000 records. I thought maybe it was to much date, but if I limit the amount of data with top 100 it also generate errors.

I have a stored proc that runs and produces an Excel 2007 file. I can run it fine within SQL Server Management Studio. Basically, this is a partial code in the stored proc:

BUT when I have an execute SQL task to run that stored proc in an SSIS package, I received the following error: Ad hoc access to OLE DB provider 'microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0' has been denied. You must access this provider through a linked server.
Please advise.
PS: I have to run that stored proc in an SSIS package because the SSIS package does some prereq stuff ( create folder, copy template to new Excel output file) then finally calls the aforementioned stored proc.
I€™m having a problem with Excel 2007 DM and SQL 2005 and I hope someone out there has a solution.
Consider the following environment:
Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista, Excel 2007, Data Mining Add-in, SSAS 2005 (with session mining models enabled, an AdventureWorksDW cube deployed and drill-through actions available).
Now take the following steps:
1. In Excel 2007 set up a connection to SSAS
2. Connect to the cube and create a new pivot table report (drag and drop whatever you like)
3. Right-click on one of the cell values in the data region and either select a drill-through action, or, select Show Details in the context menu
4. Ensure that you have at least 10 detailed records that are generated on a new worksheet page; you should have a time-based column in your detailed records
5. Select the table of detailed data, then select the Analyze tab (within the Table Tools grouping) which appears in the topmost menu above the ribbon
6. Click the Forecast button in the ribbon and choose both the field which you want to predict as well as the time-based column (from step 4) as well as the number of time periods to forecast
7. Finally click OK.
1. Having followed these steps on both WinXP SP2 and Vista, I keep coming across the exception: HResult:0x800A03EC. Any ideas as to why this exception pops up? If I was using a normal table of data (which was not generated from a Show Details or drill-through action), then the Forecast button works fine.
I googled it and thought the localization settings for SSAS 2005 and Excel 2007 needed to be the same (initially they weren€™t). I€™ve tried removing the auto-filters which appear atop each column in the detailed data table prior to clicking the Forecast button, and, I€™ve also tested for a series of data across a number of time periods with the same result.
Also, a colleague of mine discovered that the column headers that appear by default from a drill-through start with "$[", and, in removing them the Forecast function appears to work.
I would have thought there would be a seamless transition in Excel 2007 between data retrieved from a cube and the DM Add-in featueres (or at the very least, a more meaningful exception message than the one presented).
Is there something I€™ve missed, or, is there a KB article I haven€™t come across yet? As I know for a fact that the problem is reproducible, is there a fix to this problem on its way to us? Is there a useful workaround that doesn't require manual intervention?
Is it at all possible to use this tool without any connection to SQL Server (mine data in Excel Worksheets only)?? Or is it required to connect to SQL Server?? From reading the documentation, one minute I get the feeling this is possible, then the next section I get a feeling it's not. Can anyone help? Thanks.
I managed to run a single DMX query from Excel using Data Mining Extension Add-in, however, I need to run DMX statements in a loop teaching my models from different data sets. Therefore I need to run multiple custom DMX statements (I thought Excel + VBA would be the easiest way to do that). How do I use Data Mining Extension Add-in from VBA level? I cannot find relevant documentation for that purpose anywhere.I use SQL Server 2012, MS Excel 2013 and I can easily run MDX and SQL queries from Excel, but somehow DMX won't work.

I have questions regarding SQL 2008 r2 and Excel 2013.The below code users run from excel and it display all the data first time and when user click refresh under Data in excel the JOBID under JOB column disappear but all other column does not.
I am wondering where can I store my mining results in data mining engine? For example, I got mining results like accuracy chart, decision trees, and other formats of results based on different mining algorithms I used for my data mining, so where can I actually store the results for reporting service use later? I encounter some promplems on using Data mining addins for excel, having to do with data mining staff. I have two questions.
1. In analyze tab, I try to use detect categories. I try to see in the help which algorithm do this and I see Naives, but when I check the mining model throught Microsoft visual studio I noticed that the algorithm is clustering. Is that the correct one? Does help have a mistake?
2. One more problem, I have to know some more thinks for the algorithm tha Microsoft uses. Where can I found a detailed discription of the algorithms? Is there any good explanatory report for the algorithms and results?

I do have a problem with results of clustering algorithm with my categorical data. In reality I have a big table with one's and zero's and I try to cluster according to 60 attributes. I tries to cluster to two categories many times but I get only one cluster. What do you suggest. Which values can I change to the algorithm? Is there anything particular for categorical data ?

I change a bit my data and now I can get two and three clusters as I wish. But now I have a different question. I wish to keep my Structure and Model for further trials with different algorithm values, like cardinality. I tried the following I selected in excel Data Mining and then the option cluster button. Then in the cluster wizard I chose analysis service data source and I reform the query as I need adding only at the end where "STAFF_YES" = 1. Then I choose the needed columns and target value. Finally I select browse model, enable drill through only and I finish the wizard and get some results, rather good. But i need to try again with different parameters. I tried Business intelligent Studio to check my Analysis service. The structure were here but when I changed any parameter and I tried to reprocess I got the following messages

I have an error message I was wondering if anyone else has seen and resolved. When I open excel and click on the query wizard on the Data Mining Ribbon, I get an error message that says "Input String not in Correct Format"
After I close this dialog box the 'Welcome to Query .... ' wizard will open, but when I select the Advance button my process aborts due to the input string error.
I have only ran association models on the computer.
The Manage Models and Browse buttons work fine.
The error came up on Friday, but it wasn't there on Thursday. There were no changes done to the machine (no installation of new software).
I have tried reinstalling the add-in.

I have installed the excel DM addin and am trying to work through the tutorials -
When I run the 'Analyze Key Influencers' tool against the sample data through a remote AS server I get: The task was not able to detect any key influencers for the 'Purchased Bike' column. The values of 'Purchased Bike' seem unrelated to values of other columns.
however when I run it against a local AS server I get the expected results.
I can see no differences in settings or setup between the AS instances I am trying to use - perhaps a permissions issue? Thank you
