Excel DM Add-ins: How Are Highlight Exceptions Rows Chosen?

When I first looked at the query behind highlight exceptions, I assumed that PredictCaseLikelihood() was the basis for deciding which rows to flag, but a closer look at the sample data shows this not to be the case. For example, looking at the "Table Analysis Tools Sample" table in the DMAddins_SampleData workbook, ID 11147 is highlighted while ID 11378 is not. Training a cluster model via DMX on this same dataset shows these rows having PredictCaseLikelihood values of 0.165 and 0.158 respectively.
Does anyone have an idea what methodology is used to select the Outlier rows? And once those rows are selected, how are the suspect columns within that row chosen?
Appreciate any clues or directions.
Using RAISERROR from within a stored prcedure will result in a SQLException being thrown at the client side of a JDBC connection. I am trying to provide a meaningfull error message to be shown to the end user. However, all exceptions thrown will inevitably start with : "[Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]". The following questions then arise :
- Is there a way of configuring SQL Server not to display this header ?
alternatively,
- Is there another way of conveying error messages to the client through JDBC ?
After the report is rendered in the report viewer control (In windows forms application), I want to provide user with a facility to highlight rows (data). Is it possible with SSRS/Report viewer?
For example, amongst the list of 100 invoices, user should be able to highlight 10 invoices.

Problem & Info:
I am bringing in an Excel file. I need to first strip out any non-detail rows such as the breaks you see with totals and what not. I should in the end have only detail rows left before I start moving them into my SQL Table. I'm not sure how to first strip this information out in SSIS specfically how down to the right component and how to actually code the component to do this based on my Excel file here: http://www.webfound.net/excelfile.xls
Then, I assume I just use a Flat File Source coponent or something to actually take the columns in the Excel and split into an OLE DB Datasource to shove each column into a corresponding column in my SQL Server Table. I have used a Flat File Source in the past to do so with a comma delimited txt file but never tried with an Excel.

My MASTER table that contains text is very simple: TEXT_ID INT TEXT varchar
I was thinking of something like creating another table to keep track of selection criteria: USER_NAME varchar // keeps track of which user made the selection TEXT_ID INT // points to the text id in the MASTER table START_POS INT // start position of the selection END_POS INT // end position of the selection COLOR INT // color of the selection
The thing I don't like about this method, is if user(s) have many words higlighted in the sentences, this table may get very large.
I also thought of maybe combining START_POS, END_POS & COLOR into comma delimited entries:
EX: 1:5:240, 25:30:125 // START_POS:END_POS:COLOR
The thing I don't like about this method, the parsing calculations may take a while to execute.
My goal is to stream as much text data as possible and make it as fast as possible. How does Google or any one else do it?
P.S. Having a copy of a MASTER table with HTML tags in TEXT field is not an option.
We use a document map on several of our larger reports. The navigation feature is nice and causes the report to jump to the page that contains the document map entry that was clicked. However, we would also like to highlight the row in the report pane that matches the clicked document map entry. We want to do this to make it easier for our report users to see (in the report) the row they clicked in the map.
We are using fulltextsearch, with the FREETEXT command. This works very well for us, but we would like to highlight all forms of matched words in the text. This is used in a website, and now the highlighting of the found words is limited to the exact matches of the searched words. So it often happens that in a text there is no exact match of the searched words, but another form of that word.
Does anyone know if and how this problem can be fixed ?
I'm running the same query on two computers but getting a different query plan. On one of the servers, the query returns in 10 seconds, on the other server it takes over a minute. What the heck!
1. same hardware configuration on both computers 2. same user databases on both computers 3. same NT setup on both computers 4. same software installed on both computers
I can only imagine that MSSQL7 was setup differently and the query optimizer is making a stupid choice. I've compared numerous SQL server options and they are both the same.
1. sp_configure (same on both computers) 2. properties sheet on each server from enterprise manager (same on both computers)
I use "All" as default value in my parameters, my parameters are multivalue. Now if a user chooses a value it will mark the value but the All will also remain marked. Isn't there a way that it deselects the all when one or more individual values are chosen ?
I thought that the reporting services just didn't have that functionality but someone told me that its possible but i haven't found it anywhere.
I have a package that needs to be executed from a webpage, which I can get to INITIATE fine. The page calls a stored procedure which in turn starts a package (use DTExec and xp_cmdshell). The problem is that the package reads/writes to flat files that the most accounts do not have rights to. That being the case I get errors that the file doesn't exists. The package was developed by using a domain account which does have access to the files so it obviously runs fine in BIDS.
How do I force the stored package to run under that account when being called by a stored procedure? I've done this with scheduled jobs because I can use a proxy account. Is there something simlilar that I can do vis DTExec?
New user here. I've got a report with a couple of multi-value parameters and I'm displaying the selected values on the report using = Join(Parameters!ReportingGroup.Value, ", "). This works properly.
The users now want the report to display "All" if "Select All" is chosen, rather than showing the whole list.
Can anybody help me with this? I'm thinking of using an IIF statement in my expression, but have no idea how to define the condition?
I have a simple 2 column dataset representing Date of session and Client Name (Please download workbook from here - [URL] .... The Financial Year runs from April 1 to March 31. I want to determine the number of sessions conducted in chosen financial year - 2. So if I select FY 2015-16 in a slicer, then, I want view the number of session conducted client wise in FY 2013-14. This is the formula calculated field formula I have written but when I drag this in the Pivot Table, I get an error message. In the calculated field window, when I click on Check for errors, then there are no errors at all.
Hello, I have a table T1 with ID and Desc fields. I want to export this table to excel files based on the ID field. So my stored procedure select all the same T1.ID and export it to ID.xls files. How can I do this?
I have to import data from Excel to SQL Server using SSIS. My fields in sql don't take null values however for some reason i don't understand I see that the SSIS is also trying to import null rows into the database. For example I have the following excel file: Name Postcode State XXX 123 ON YXX 345 IO
The rows following the last line are all blank but when I preview the Excel Source data flow task it returns the empty rows as null and therfore, my package fails as db fields don't accept null values.
How can I prevent SSIS from taking null rows? Can I maybe write a query in SSIS to say only to take rows where postcode<>null ?

Hi We are trying to export some data from SQL server into an excel sheet. The data records will be like more than 1 lakh records. I noted that Excel has a constraint of not creating rows more than 65,000. In this case we need to create multiple workbooks in the excel sheet.

I am exporting table rows (based on a query) into an excel file but I don't want to append to the file. I would like to delete the rows that were previously added and then add the new data. The file has column headings and I would like these to exist all the time.

I have a DTS package that needs to refresh data in 3 separate Excelspreadsheets on a daily basis. The problem is that unless I manuallydelete the previous day's data, it appends rather than replaces.I can't delete the excel files on a daily basis, as they have to bethere for the DTS package to be able to export to Excel. What I wantto do is create a VBScript (ActiveX Control) to delete all the rows ofdata except the first row within each spreadsheet as the first step ofthe DTS package. Few days back we faced a problem when we were doing an Export to Excel of a report which was using sub-reports. After going thro. the knowledge base articles we came to know that SSRS currently doesn't suppot this option, an alternate is to use use List instead of tables, so we used List and did all the formatting with the list and the data was displayed correctly and it was Exporting to Excel also properly. But now we found out that after doing an Export to Excel, the Excel File is leaving blank rows between the data (i.e.,) If the report consists of two rows, then it displays the first row in the 10th row of excel and the second row in the 12th row of excel. The 11th row is blank and it appears as a small blank row between 10 and 12. The actual problem because of this is we are not able to do Auto filter in Excel, because Excel by default considers the values only until it encounters a blank row when we are doing auto filter. So is there a way to avoid this blank row while exporting to Excel, we have tried to remove the borders and all other stuffs but nothing seems to work. Have anyone encountered the same problem or is there any work around for this problem. Thanks in advance.
Hi All, While we are loading the text file to SQL Server via SSIS, we have the provision to skip any number of leading rows from the source and load the data to SQL server. Is there any provision to do the same for Excel file. The source Excel file for me has some description in the leading 5 rows, I want to skip it and start the data load from the row 6. Please provide your thoughts on this.
I have a need to import only non-hidden rows from an excel spreadsheet. When I create the package in SSIS, it imports everything. Due to the use of the data on the spreadsheet, we cannot simply delete the data.
Is there a special setting in the Excel Source or Connection manager that can be set to "only import non-hidden rows"?
Also, how do I go about setting the sheet with an index instead of the actual Sheet name? The user changes the sheet name at random, but I know I only need the first two sheets on the file.
I am using a DTS package to output a view to a pre-determined Excel file. Currently it just adds the output to the bottom of the current table in excel but i would like it to delete the contents of the worksheet before adding the new rows.
