Is there a way to let an account have execute permission on a stored
procedure but not let that stored procedure run insert , delete, or
update records. Basically only let them run or create stored
procedures that do selects.

I am strugling to execute a insert stored procedure on a button click. The stored procedure is taking values from a temp table and inserting them into a identical table. The procedure is expecting 1 value from a Query string, the stored procedure works as expected when hard coded.
Im completely new to this and have no idea where to begin, i have been looking through the forums for several hours and am still none the wiser.
please can someone point me in the right direction

You do not have permission to use the bulk load statement.
Can you help me with this? Why is the user prevented from running this bulk insert inside the stored proc with "execute as" ? The profiler trace from both of these stored procs have identical results for the SP: StmtStarting event.

I am looking to transfer a database to another db but I just need to copy the data (not drop the tables and recreate them). Is this possible?
I was thinking of backing up the database in a set of insert statements in a file and execute this file to get the desired result. Or alternatively, to use a data flow task with multiple tables if possible.
Hope there is a way.

However, when actually running the process I am getting the error message:

I was trying to insert some row from one table to another of different database.
I was using Execute SQL task along with Foreach loop container.
In my execute SQL task I am using this query

When executed I get this error:

I am using SSIS integration between two database. Both databases are sql server 2008. Â using many integration but getting problem in two only only two integration giving problem, both are executing perfectly and out put also not showing any error.
but destination table not inserted/updated anything.
first issue integration is using data flow task with oledb source and destination.Â
second one is using execute task with for-eachloop container.
We would like to use the bulk insert function to import large CSV files into a SSE database however we have serious concerns regarding giving all our users these high privleges. Is there some way around this can we give them the privleges temporarily do the insert and take it away again or some other solution.
I have trigger, but not execute somedata because insert few row in every second. I use java to insert data to SQL server 2005. Data inserted to a table but not executing trigger for some data.
For example 100 data every second inserted to a table.
If insert data one by one to a table trigger fires success.

I would like know which method is faster:
Use Execute SQL Task to insert the result set to the target table
Use the Data Flow Task to insert the result set to the target table. (Use OLE DB source to execute SQL command and then use the SQL destination)
Could you tell me why then other is slower?

I had got the below error when I execute a DELETE SQL query in SSIS Execute SQL Task :
Error: 0xC002F210 at DelAFKO, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "DELETE FROM [CQMS_SAP].[dbo].[AFKO]" failed with the following error: "The transaction log for database 'CQMS_SAP' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
But my disk has large as more than 6 GB space, and I query the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases which return value as "NOTHING".
So this confused me, any one has any experience on this?

I'm looking for a way to refer to a package variable within any
Transact-SQL code included in either an Execute SQL or Execute T-SQL
task. If this can be done, I need to know the technique to use -
whether it's something similar to a parameter placeholder question
mark or something else.
FYI - I've been able to successfully execute Transact-SQL statements
within the Execute SQL task, so I don't think the Execute T-SQL task
is even necessary for this purpose.

I have a master package, which executes child packages that are located on a SQL Server. The Child packages execute other child packages which are also located on the SQL server.
Everything works fine when I execute in process. But when I set the parameter in the mater package ExecutePackageTask to ExecuteOutOfProcess = True, I get the following error

Or is it possible to conditional run other control flow items according the the status of SQL task execution?

I have a web form with a text field that needs to take in as much as the user decides to type and insert it into an nvarchar(max) field in the database behind. I've tried using the new .write() method in my update statement, but it cuts off the text after a while. Is there a way to insert/update in SQL 2005 this without resorting to Bulk Insert? It bloats the transaction log and turning the logging off requires a call to sp_dboptions (or a straight-up ALTER DATABASE), which I'd like to avoid if I can.

I ran SQL profiler and found that sql statement had all the fields in the insert statement but some of the fields were not inserted. Below is the sql statement which is created dyanmically by a asp.net C# class. The columns which are not inserted are 'totaltax' and 'totalamount' ...while the 'shipto_name' etc...were inserted.there were not errors thrown. The sql from the code cannot be shown here as it is dynamically built referencing C# class files.It works fine on another test database which uses the same dlls. Is there a way to avoid entering column names in the excel template for me to create an excel file froma dynamic excel using openrowset.
I have teh following code but it works fien when column names are given ahead of time.
If I remove the column names from the template and just to Select * from the table and Select * from sheet1 then it tells me that column names donot match.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to SQL, ASP.NET, etc. I am creating an intranet site for my company in VS 2005 and have run into a very annoying problem that I can't seem to solve. I have tried Googling it and came up empty. I have a database in SQL Express 2005 and my website will be accessing several tables within the database. I can retrieve info just fine and I can update, delete, etc just fine using gridview or other prebuilt tools, but when I add a few text boxes and wire a button to the SqlDataSource.Insert() command, I get a new record that is full of null values except for the identity key I have set. The kicker is that I am also using a master page and when I duplicate the web page without the master page link, everything works just fine. The following snippets show what I'm doing:<InsertParameters><asp:FormParameter Name="Name" Type="String" FormField="txtName" /><asp:FormParameter Name="Location" Type="String" FormField="ddlLocation" /><asp:FormParameter Name="Issue" Type="String" FormField="txtProblem" /></InsertParameters>Of course I match the formfields to the text boxes, create an onclick event for my button, the sqldatasource is configured correctly, it just doesn't work with the master page no matter what I do. it has 2 questions including a text box for Q1 and dropdown list for Q2.
I have a table in my database called "Players" which has 3 Columns
UserId Primary Key of type Unique Identifyer
PlayerName Type String
PlayerGenre Type Sting
On completing the wizard and clicking the finish button, I want the data to be inserted into the SQl express Players table.
I am having problems getting this to work and keep getting exceptions.
Be very helpful if somebody could check the code and advise where the problem is??

Iam reading file using bulk insert and iam inserting these phone numbers into table having one column as below.
BULK INSERT TABLE_NAME FROM 'FILE_PATH'
WITH (KEEPNULLS,FIRSTROW=2,ROWTERMINATOR = '||')
but i want to insert the data into table having two columns. if iam trying to insert the data into table having two columns its not inserting.
can anyone help me how to do this?

This problem is being seen on SQL 2005 SP2 + cumulative update 4
I am currently successfully using the output clause of an insert statement to return the identity values for inserted rows into a table variable
I now need to add an "instead of insert" trigger to the table that is the subject of the insert.
As soon as I add the "instead of insert" trigger, the output clause on the insert statement does not return any data - although the insert completes successfully. As a result I am not able to obtain the identities of the inserted rows
Note that @@identity would return the correct value in the test repro below - but this is not a viable option as the table in question will be merge replicated and @@identity will return the identity value of a replication metadata table rather than the identity of the row inserted into my_table
Note also that in the test repro, the "instead of insert" trigger actually does nothing apart from the default insert, but the real world trigger has additional code.
To run the repro below - select each of the sections below in turn and execute them
1) Create the table
2) Create the trigger
3) Do the insert - note that table variable contains a row with column value zero - it should contain the @@identity value
4) Drop the trigger
5) Re-run the insert from 3) - note that table variable is now correctly populated with the @@identity value in the row
I need the behaviour to be correct when the trigger is present
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

I decided to change over from Microsoft Access Database file to the New SQLServerCe Compact edition. Although the reading of data from the database is greatly improved, the inserting of the new rows is extremely slow.
I was getting between 60 to 70 rows per sec using OLEDB and an Access Database but now only getting 14 to 27 rows per sec using SQLServerCe.
I have tried the below code changes and nothing seams to increase the speed, any help as I would prefer to use SQLServerCe as the database is much smaller and I€™m use to SQL Commands.

Encryption = Engine Default
Database Size = 128Mb (But needs to be changes to 999Mbs)
