Hi all I have a function that I'm trying to make a report with SQL server report services. My problem is everytime I add a table I addd the function and I get the table with a red arrow pointing down, when I try to execute int sql server intelligence development studio it gives me an error message. can anyone help pleaes
I've gotten to the point of publishing the new reports on the SSRS server and have run into the following problem.
I use a field in the primary report with the "Go to report" action to open up another report (also published) for more details. It works properly from within ReportBuilder (2.0) using the report server and I can go to and from the secondary report as I expect. Its passing the correct parameters to the second report and its runs.
But when I use the reports from the SSRS web, the Go To link no longer works. Mouse hover shows its still a link but clicking goes no where. I can run both reports independently from SSRS and they still work.
I've tried this in IE and Chrome with no luck in either. I also poked around at Compatability view and popup blocker but nothing made any difference.
I have got a sql query and converting a Crystal report to Sql report but struggling on few places. When I created the report I need to have a column where I am struggling to figure out how to add this to the column
"if {Clocked_In} = "Y" then "Yes" else if {This} then "Holiday" else if {Sick} then "Sick" else if {Absent} then "Absent" else "No"
"In Crystal four columns make into one but I am not sure how can I do it in SQL report builder.
I have developed reports for Oracle database. I wanted to avoid use of OUT REF cursor hence am using function & calling it from reports.
The logic in SP/function is so complex that it takes 5 mins to execute n get the result. I see the results on the report server, But when I call that report from web application, I get System.Net.WebException - Time out error.
My questions:
1. What setting I make on report server to avoid timeout?
--Are these settings applied on report server restart?
2. Is there any setting needed for Datasource also?
Hi friends i've .net app where display reports from report server using SOAP api. all works fine. my question is, i have a export button on my screen to export to different formats. whats happening is , as you know, when load report it says "report being generated" ,right ? so our users clicking export button before report is loaded into report viewer control. is it possible to know whether the report is still being loaded ? Thanks for your help
Hello, Today we succesfully integrated Report Services with Sharepoint services. After that I was trying to implement the reports we made in Report Services into the Sharepoint site. The first report was ok, everything went well, no errors and the report was succesfully executed. Then the second report, it is a bit a bigger and more advanced report. It also has to be executed at an other server.I am going to explain how the server setup is.We have 2 servers, a x32 and a x64 server. The x64 server is the "Live" server, and the x32 is our "Test" server. On the x32 server we have MS SQL Server 9.0.3200 (SP2), it is the same as on the x64 server. When i try to execute the report on the x32 server, I got an error. The error I get from reporting server is:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.So I checked the error log, and then I got the following message: EventType sql90exception, P1 w3wp.exe, P2 6.0.3790.3959, P3 45d6968e, P4 reportingservicesnativeclient.ni.dll, P5 2005.90.3042.0, P6 45cd6edb, P7 0, P8 00005283, P9 00000000, P10 NIL.For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
After I had found the error, I had searched on Google what the message means. I found some topics on other forums that said "Install SP2". But that was not an option since we are on SP2.
Some additional information: Just tried to run the first report on the x32 server, and it worked. So the first report runs on the x32 as the x64 server.
Is there a way of previewing a report without executing the dataset? Problem is when I make changes to the layout of the report it is taking a while before the report renders.
While I am developing my reports and working on the layout, changing colours, fonts etc it would be good to have an option which uses local data only.
I have deployed reports on to the report server. When I try to open the reports from report server, I get the error," Value does not fall within the expected range." This error message appears as soon as I click on any report on the report manager.
Hi, I have a date field in my report which takes the current date as the value. My default regional settings is en-US. If I change my regional settings to Germany, on executing the report, I get rsReportParameterTypeMismatch for the Date parameter. Any help in this regard is welcome. Thanks.
I created a SSIS package which loads CSV into database. The package is called in a C# console application which is set as scheduled task in a server. The problem I having is that the package hangs during validation stage: "Truncation may occur due to inserting data from data flow column "Reading Type" with a length of 50 to database column "ReadingType" with a length of 2."There is no problem loading same data from development machine.
I'm trying to execute an SSIS package from an ASP.NET web page. Using some code from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms403355.aspx I have managed to get this working when executing a package that contains a stored procedure, however it does not work when there is an Analysis Services cube to build.
Here is my code for the webservice
Code Snippet
Public Class SCCBuildDW
Inherits System.Web.Services.WebService
' LaunchPackage Method Parameters:
' 1. sourceType: file, sql, dts
' 2. sourceLocation: file system folder, (none), logical folder
' 3. packageName: for file system, ".dtsx" extension is appended
_
Public Function LaunchPackage( _
ByVal sourceType As String, _
ByVal sourceLocation As String, _
ByVal packageName As String) As Integer 'DTSExecResult
I'm using windows authentication and impersonating an identity. The identity has access to the analysis services role but the package still fails to run.
I've developed SSIS package and able to Launch and Execute dtsx package using Web Service/Console application. If I run it from my local it has no issues. If I ask my client to run this web service it is throwing error "Unable to connect to remote server".
If I ask my client to directly run the package itself they get following error "AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager failed"...
Even after my client having SQL Server, Integrations Service and BIDS installed on his machine he gets the above error. How to set this up. SQL Sever Agent is not an option for us.
I am novice to SQL reporting services. I have created a report using SSRS. In this report I would like to show a column value as button and wants to execute vbscript code on click. Or at least execute vbscript code on click of that field (button is just an option!) The code will launch another application (exe file or else)
I am using SQL Server 2012 SP1. I have built an SSIS package that imports flat file data from various files to SQL Server. I have got it to do everything I want it to do when things are going well, and am now on what I want it to do when it encounters a failure executing specific tasks and containers. For example, I have a Foreach Loop container that executes a dedicated stored procedure for each csv file in the target folder. If any of the store procedures fail to run for any reason I want to carry out certain actions.
For the most part I think I will be fine using the Event Handlers. What I can't seem to find is how to tell the package to stop executing on a Failure event after carrying out the actions defined by the relevant Event Handler. Or, perhaps it isn't necessary as that would be the default behaviour on a failure?
I'm currently looking at refactoring an existing, large SSIS 2012 implementation that consists of about 55 projects and 360+ packages. The ETL framework that is in use has a "main" control package that reads from a database table and determines which packages are ready to execute (based on some dependency logic) and then uses an Execute Process task within a loop that calls dtexec with the arguments: /C start Dtexec /SQL "Some Package Path" /SERVER "someserver"
This design allows the loop to execute a package and then immediately iterate because it doesn't wait for the package to respond (aka complete with a failure or success) so it can quickly kick off as many packages are ready to execute. A SQL Agent job is used to call this package every few minutes so that it can pick up any packages that have had their dependencies satisfied since the last execution and kick those off. It's a a clever design but has some problems such as decentralized exception handling (since the parent package is unaware of what is happening in the "asynchronous" dtexec calls. My biggest concern is that by executing packages, not with the Execute Package Task but with the Execute Process Task, and spinning up many dtexecs, the framework is not leveraging SSIS's ability to handle threading, memory consumption, etc. across all running packages and executables because it is simply unaware of them. It's essentially like using an Execute Package Task with the ExecuteOutOfProcess property set to true.
I just created a report builder. I have a main report and i wanted to create a sub report. why i cant or i cant view the path or the folder of my .rdl file to be use as my sub report.
I have a sql agent job which runs the Masterpackage, Master package has aroung 35 child packages calling in it. Issue with this Master package is it running upto 30 child packages and I get success message on job. It is not executing packages beyond 30 what could be the problem. I disabled the all the 30 child packages and ran it again it ran those other 5 child packges without any problem.
I have to execute a .bat file on a remote server (that is used to stop and start services of an appl). The remote server doesn't have SSIS,SSMS installed. I want to create a package on my desktop the uses Execute process task and execute the .bat file on the remote server and then schedule it using the SSMS.
I need to grab data from teradata(using odbc connection).. i have no issues if its just bunch of joins and wheres conditions.. but now i have a challenge. simple scenario, i have to create volatile table, dump data into this and then grab data from this volatile table. (Don't want to modify the query in such a way i don't have to use this volatile table.. its a pretty big query and i have no choice but create bunch of volatile tables, above scenarios is just mentioned on simple 1 volatile table ).
So i created a proc and trying to pass this string into teradata, not sure if it works.. what options i have.. (I dont have a leisure to create proc in terdata and get it executed when ever i want and then grab data from the table. )
We are executing a SSIS package using a xp_cmdshell command in a SP as shown below. This package does consumes time to execute almost 90 minutes and does get executed successfully too. But the strange thing is we don't get the result in @result variable just because somehow the next sql statement after the below highlighted statement doesn't get executed at all. After checking execution stats for the SP using the query attached below we observed that somehow the SP vanishes out of the execution stats for the server.
I'm executing Oracle procedure, which has three OUTPUT parameters and returns results in table type variable. i should not use ODBC, MSDAORA providers to call the procedure. So I'm planning to using Oracle OLEDB provider. I'm able to execute the procedure successfully, but when i do check (while dr.Read()) its not returning any records. But I know as per stored procedure results, it should return 66 records.
Dim conn As New OleDbConnection Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand Dim dr As OleDbDataReader Dim QSQL As String
I have a web application using Stored Procedure (SP). I see that there's a SP taking long time to execute. I try to capture it by Profiler Tool, and find out that with the same SP on the same db with the same parameter. The duration of executing by my web app is far bigger than the duration of executing on SQl server management studio - query window
Please see the image through this url http://kyxao.net/127/ExecutionProblem.png
I have done the following and a domain user would not access report created a login to the SQL server to the user (this SQL Server is where data source DB is)went to site setting in Report Manager and made this use a system userright clicked on report folder and made this user in the browser roleeven checked that in the report in question, the user is already in the browser role Still the user would not access the report! "User .......... does not have required permission" is the error message I am getting.
I have written a report visual studio. The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. None of the headers or static text is displayed. The results window is blank.
The report defaults all the parameter values. In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render. Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report. The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
Ralph SELECT RTRIM(a.ITEMNMBR) AS Style, RTRIM(a.ITEMDESC) AS Description, a.ITMSHNAM AS UPC, c.LOCNCODE AS Store, d.LISTPRCE AS ListPrice, a.CURRCOST AS Cost, a.USCATVLS_1 AS [Main Category], a.USCATVLS_2 AS Market, a.USCATVLS_3 AS [Alternate Retail], a.USCATVLS_4 AS Country, b.ITEMXTRAS_1_Type AS Type, b.ITEMXTRAS_2_Finish AS Finish, b.ITEMXTRAS_3_SubCategory AS SubCategory, b.ITEMXTRAS_4_Department AS Department,
We are about to implement SSRS reports (SQL Server 2012), and have found one issue we don't like. The report looks great when we open it in pdf format. However, when we open it in Excel format, we want it to be the raw data, not look like the pdf report. I tried the simpl headers, and that removed the page header/footer. However, the report format was still in play.In other words, we would like the report when opened in Excel, to look just like it does when we open it as a CSV.I have tried to modify the config file a couple of times. Here is my latest attempt:
Essentially I have set Visible = "false" for the Excel type, and tried to duplicate the CSV, changing the name to make it look to the user like it is "Excel". This fails. I checked the event viewer, and I see two entries.. The RSReportServer.config file has been modified. (Information)The value for UrlRoot in RSReportServer.config is not valid. The default value will be used instead.I literally took the file, opened it in Notepad, pasted in my changes, from another notepad window, and tried to run the report. I did not see EITHER of the two names I expected, using the OverrideNames tag. As I said earlier, I was able to affect the outcome, by setting SimpleHeaders to true (or however it is identified). That did work in that the page header and footer was removed.
I have a ssrs report having 2 tables in with 4 columns in each. When I go to export option in preview I can see all data coming in one excel sheet, But I am trying to get 2 tables in 2 different pages in Excel when I export.First page of excel comes with first table data with 4 columns and second page of excel comes with second table data with 4 columns .
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I'm wondering how to print a SSRS report without bringing up a report viewer. Is there way to print(PDF format) the SSRS report in the web application( .net ) directly from the "print" button without bringing up a report viewer?
I have a report builder drill down report. I have row groups with totals. It looks like the attached. The problem is when the report is not expanded the Grand Totals column is not accurate... it is displaying the totals of one of the rows when expanded. The expression in the Total Show text box is
I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?
I was able to log in to SSRS report manager. But i was unable to run a report i designed on report builder.
It prompts for login when i wanted to run the report and i used the same windows authentication to sign in
It will show me the parameters but when i click on view report it gives this error
"Data source 'DataSource1': An error has occurred.
Details: Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'Acc-11Admin'."
I want to repeat line on each page of report on PDF while using 2 columns on report. The problem is that if i use table border it will also repeat after second table. i want a line between two tables.
