I am trying to export a View to xls but unseccessfuly. "Destination Connection OLE DB is not Exist. ??? in SQL 2000 it was easy i export it save it as DTS Package , Schedule it and i had a Job. I face many difficalties trying to do the same thing now.

I am trying to export the results of a view from an .adp to an .mdbusing TransferDatabase. I want to download data from an AS/400 to a SQL 2005 Database.
Within Sql server 2000 it was possible to do more than 1 transformation with just 1 source connenction and 1 destination.
In SSIS I have created:
- new solution
- data source
- Data source viewer ( I made named queries to format the data as i want it to be in Sql)
Although it is possible to view the named query data it does not seem to be possible to import the data in the data viewer into my sql 2005 database. (For each dataflow I have to define each query again)
I have added the data source in the connection manager.
Also I am searching to import more than 1 file in 1 package !
I can use however a Dts-2000 package but why then use SQL server 2005

I've got a report which, when exported to word, comes up with only the body of the report visible, and with the protected view warning present in Word 2013. When I enable editing, the header and footers appear correctly. What is happening here, and how do I correct it, if at all? I don't know that my customer is likely to accept having to enable editing to address this.

Before Version is SQL2000 we can Selected Copy Object and data between server and then Use Default Options click checked and Select Copy Index, Copy Foreing Primary key vs vs
But this options is not found in the SQL2005 Management Studio/Database/Tasks/Export Data wizard or I can't found it.

I created a query, which makes use of a temp table, and I need the results to be displayed in a View. Unfortunately, Views do not support temp tables, as far as I know, so I put my code in a stored procedure, with the hope I could call it from a View....
I tried:
CREATE VIEW [qryMyView]
AS
EXEC pr_MyProc
and unfortunately, it does not let this run.
Anybody able to help me out please?

I compared view query plan with query plan if I run the same statementfrom view definition and get different results. View plan is moreexpensive and runs longer. View contains 4 inner joins, statisticsupdated for all tables. Any ideas?

I had given one of our developers create view permissions, but he wants to also modify views that are not owned by him, they are owned by dbo.
I ran a profiler trace and determined that when he tries to modify a view using query designer in SQLem or right clicks in SQLem on the view and goes to properties, it is performing a ALTER VIEW. It does the same for dbo in a trace (an ALTER View). He gets a call failed and a permission error that he doesn't have create view permissions, object is owned by dbo, using both methods.
If it is doing an alter view how can I set permissions for that and why does it give a create view error when its really doing an alter view? Very confusing.

When ever I open using SQL Entreprise manager to edit it by adding or removing a field i inserts Expr1,2.. and I don t want that. The result I get is:

I don t want Entreprise manager to generate the Expr fields since I use the real fields in my application.

I am using BCP to export a Table to a TAB delimited file. This works great, but in some fields a NULL in the Table is being exported as a character zero in the Tab file. I confirmed this by looking at the Tab file with a Hex editor.
I am using the BCP options -T c -S.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA colleague of mine has a view that returns approx 100000 rows in about 60 seconds.
He wants to use the data returned from that view in an OLE DB Source component.
When he selects the view from the drop-down list of available tables then SSIS seems to hang without any data being returned (he waited for about 15 mins).
He then changed the OLE DB Source component to use a SQL statement and the SQL statement was: SELECT * FROM <viewname>
In this instance all the data was returned in approx 60 seconds (as expected).
This makes no sense. One would think that selecting a view from the drop-down and doing a SELECT *... from that view would be exactly the same. Evidently that isn't the case.
Can anyone explain why?

I need to set up a DTS Package to export the contents of several tables to a single text file on a daily basis. This is easy enough. However, the name of the text file should change on a daily basis such that the first 4 characters of the file name should by yesterdays date as mmdd. The second 4 characters of the file name should be the end of a pay period, also in a format mmdd. Does anyone know if this can be done with DTS? Any ideas? I'm assuming I'll have to use ActiveX scripts, but with the wizard I'm forced to specifiaclly name the output text file name.
