Export An Excel File And Saving It Under A Http Link
Dec 18, 2007
I want to save the Excel Export underneath an intranet hyperlink ? What would be the best way to do that .Right now, i am trying the regular excel file path option and placing the http link in there.
I am getting an error message on execution.
Is there anyway to send excel file from ssis using send mail task without saving the excel file locally. I need to automate the process which involves loading the excel file from the database and send it to some people.

I've created a dts package that exports data to an excel. The data exports okay, but I'd like to make a few changes on how the data is exported.
First, when the data exports to the excel file, it always creates a new excel sheet. How can I map the data to the existing sheet in the Excel file? I have an existing sheet named 'Sheet1'. I've deleted the other two sheets in the excel file, so there is only one sheet. When I created the destination table in the dts package for the data transformation task, I specified the name as 'Sheet1', but when it exports, it creates a new sheet named 'Sheet11'. I haven't been able to correct this.
Second, I'd like to either ammend data to the last row in the excel file, which I'd have to know the last record that was inserted from the SQL table. Or probably much easier, simply drop the existing sheet in the excel file and simply re-create and insert.
Dear all, i'm using sql server 2005. i've 20 queries to run. all the out put should come into excel file and each one to each sheet.is it possible?i've following the great aricle given below.but i didn't get the desired output.i used DTS import and export. it works fine but i need batch file for this. help me in this regard.
I need to do a simple task. I have a oledb source which pulls data from sql server, creates an excel file abc.xls and dumps it with the Excel destination at remote location.
I need to create this file at runtime. However, when i give the location, the Excel Destination expects the file to be there for the Mapping of the source columns with destination ones.
My tasks are 1. Creating a table for the worksheet in Excel connection 2. Select from source table and write in Excel Destination
I can't find the answer to these problems. I'm using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. I have a report with 15,036 rows and about 15 columns. It utilizes a table and a report header and footer. One column has data containing hyperlinks to another report.
1) When I export this report to Excel, the result is 14.2MB file. Why is this file so huge, and how can I make it smaller?
2) Is there anything I can do to prevent the inclusion of the hyperlinks in the exported Excel file?
I have to export about 50 excel files from different tables. Some tables contain leading 0s in the columns. If I use bcp to export to xls file, the leading 0s will be missing. If bcp to csv or txt file, there will be no issue at all. But I have to export to xls file in order to let client update that xls file and reload to tables again.
Anyone know why cells within a matrix that are formatted as numeric export to Excel with a cell format proprty of "General"? Cells within a table however export with an appropriate format.
I have to copy data from a view of a database to an Excel file . Is there any way of doing it ? Is there any way to import the data from the views to an Excel format ? We have SQL Server 7.0 .
i am handling a project where user can choose the excel file and the field in the excel file to export into sql server 2005. which mean there will be dropdownlist where the user can choose the field and so on. anyone know how to do this?
Is there a way to export query results to an excel fie and add that file as an attachment in the email? All this has to be done using SQL query and it needs to be automated. My coworker tried using Openrowset and BCP, but it is not working.
I have a table in one of my databases that stores files in one of its columns. I need to be able to export this BLOB column into either a CSV or Excel file. I am forbidden from using xp_Cmdshell so I was wondering if there was a way to do this in the Cmd prompt.
I can use Http connection to Analysis Services 2005 from Excel but when I try to use IIS it fails. AS and IIS are on different machines and not in the same domain.
In the event log of the server with AS i can see following event:
Event Type: Information Event Source: MSOLAP ISAPI Extension: \?C:Inetpubwwwrootolapmsmdpump.dll Event Category: (269) Event ID: 10 Date: 5/20/2008 Time: 10:17:02 AM User: N/A Computer: ******* Description: The description for Event ID ( 10 ) in Source ( MSOLAP ISAPI Extension: \?C:Inetpubwwwrootolapmsmdpump.dll ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: .
I assume it's permission issue. Excel and IIS must be using different user to connect to AS. I tried with different authentication methods on the iis but without success.
How can I make IIS connect with proper permissions?
I have a requirement to export certain data directly in csv format from the link thats in the report interface.
Though i am able to open new window report from the link by passing the needed parameter is there any way that we can directly open the excel from the link in data table in report..
When I open the spreadsheet in Excel 2000, it works fine. When I try to print, it crashes Excel. In testing, I narrowed it down to the Header/Footer, because it also crashes when I go to Page Setup and click on the header/footer tab.
However, I can print the same spreasheet from Excel 2007.
Am I just dealing with a "you need to upgrade all your clients" situation, or is there a known issue with certian formatting that is passed out with reports that is not supported by older versions of Excel?
I am using Reporting Services 2005 SP2 to serve up the report that is exported to Excel.
Is there a property or a format type that I can use on a field to enter an excel formula and have it actually be a formula once it is saved to excel out of reporting services.
This is a 'what if' report. That the users want to fiddle with after it is generated.
I have item number, cost, sell price, and discount from the database. I calculate the gross profit and the percent from those fields. They want to take this report, save it to excel and then have the gross profit change when they enter a new discount amount.
I have tried to just enter the fields like they would look in excel but the report just shows A3 - A2. If I use the = before it will not run and says A3 is not defined. I have tried quotes, parenthesis, square brackets any thing that looked remotely possible in properties menu to have the values save as a formula.
I don't think it is possible but would like a second opinion.
I've been googling this for a while now and can't seem to find any elegant answers.
I'm looking for an automated way to present a FORMATED Excel Spreadsheet to the Customer from a stored procedure output.
Can anyone advise me the best method of doing this - should I / can I assign an Excel Template to the DTS Task output ?
His mind is set on Excel and the formatting is basic and easy to write in a Macro which I've done, but this requires human interaction to finish the task (Automated Run Once on opening etc).
In an ideal world an individual would send an email to the Server with two formated parameters (@FromDate & @ToDate) and would be emailed back a ready formatted S/Sheet. But I believe he would be willing to just select the relevant SpreadSheet for the Daily / Weekly / Monthly periods dumped.
I have the Excel Connection Manager and Source to read the contents from an Excel file. For some reason couple of numeric fields from the Excel worksheet are brought over as nulls even though they have a value of 300 and 150. I am not sure why this is happening. I looked into the format of the fields and they are set to General in Excel, I tried setting them to numeric and that did not help.
All the other content from the excel file is coming thru except for the 2 numeric fields.
I tried to bring the contents from the excel source to a text file in csv format and for some reason the 2 numeric fields came out as blank.
Any inputs on getting this addressed will be much appreciated.

2. I have a report with multiple link which one redirect to other reports. After exporting link is showing and able to open other reports from excel. I want disable link after exporting into excel. How can disable link after exporting in excel ?
We are running 2014 enterprise. Our users love to see related report sections saved in separate tabs of the same spreadsheet. Is there a way to control how ssrs will save a report to excel when it comes to tabs?
Are subreports a/the way (and only way) to do this?
By sections I mean they might have a grid, then another grid, then a graph then another graph and so on.
What property controls the tab name? What if they want to combine 2 or more sections into one tab?
I am currently using the OPENROWSET command to read a XML file.
-- Use OPENROWSET to read an XML file from the file system
SELECT @xml = BulkColumn
FROM OPENROWSET(BULK 'c:file.xml', SINGLE_BLOB) TempXML
However, the file I wish to process is being generated externally and published through a web server. The file is constantly being updated, and I need to have the latest data frequently. Is it possible to do something along the lines of:
-- Use OPENROWSET to read an XML file from the file system SELECT @xml = BulkColumn
FROM OPENROWSET(BULK 'http://webserver/file.xml', SINGLE_BLOB) TempXML
If it is not possible, can someone recommend the best method to copy/download the file? I have considered standalone Windows Services and utilizing SQL Server. Are there significant pros or cons to either approach? Are there other methods I am not awere of? Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
In SSIS is there any way get the content of a HTTP request and the save it as a file for lateron processing? What can I do if I need to "POST" the parameter to the server in order to get the file?
I looked online and couldn't find anything to help me make this change. I want to change the default URL for reporting services to another url. Is this possible? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I have around 600 worksheets that i need to import into sql server that are in a somewhat non-table like format. Data defractor seems to be able to do what i need, but i also need to check into doing it manually. I've seen the code to import cells and ranges into sql server, but can't seem to remember what it is anymore. I've also searched through the forums and can't seem to find any examples either. Could anyone post an example or a link with some examples or explaination code. Thanks in advance.
