I am using a Web based front end to a SQL Server db installed at my host that only lets me import data into tables either manually (in a 'datasheet' view) or with a SQL query.
Does anybody know if I can export data from my local db as a script such as
insert into TestTable(Id, Name) values ("1", "Test1")
insert into TestTable(Id, Name) values ("2", "Test2")
.
.
.
... so that I can run this script on the Web front end and insert data into the db at my host?
Is it possible to export data from tables to SQL insert statements? Got SQL 2005 developer, visual studio 2005, and Visio enterprise architect, if that makes any difference. I already found this tool but it costs money.

I want to write a VB 6.0 program, and already connected to MS SQL 2000 Database by MS SQL ODBC connection. Now I want to Export this MS SQL data to FoxPro 2.6 DBF. I found ROWSET option, but don't know how to use it for FoxPro. Please help me.

I am trying to take an entire MS SQL database and put it in an sql file. I have succesfully copied the tables into an sql file by highlighting the tables in enterprise manager and choosing 'generate sql script'.
That gives me the structure, but now I would like the data (in insert statements). I have looked in enterprise manager's export wizard and sql analyzer to no avail. There seem to be a lot of options for exporting data except this one! Please point me in the right direction.
At the end of the day, I would like to be able to put everything in a text file. Then, should I have problems, I can just copy my text into query analyzer and have a brand new database.

I am writing a query to return some production data. Basically i need to insert either 1 or 2 rows into a Table variable based on a decision as to does the production part make 1 or 2 items ( The Raw data does not allow for this it comes from a look up in my database)
I can retrieve all the source data i need easily but when i come to insert it into the table variable i need to insert 1 record if its a single part or 2 records if its a twin part. I know could use a cursor but im sure there has to be an easier way !

Hi there, Having problems exporting data from a database (sql2000 db) to a development db (also sql2000) using SQL 2005 Server Studio and Import/Export wizard (error: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint <keynamehere>. Cannot insert duplicate). The destination table has no records in it.

It looks like these options are only available in the SQL Server Management Studio? I installed SQL Server Management Express Studio and I can't even find the DTSWizard.exe on my machine.

Background: In my current company the business users maintain a huge quantity of master data using excel. Then a series of SSIS jobs are edited and manually executed.
Goal: the challenge is to replace this process using MDS. One of the requested features is the possibility for the users to edit or insert new master data using the Web UI or the Excel Add-in and when they are done perform a merge of the master data in the target, in this case in the reporting DB.
The perfect solution for me is something like trigger the execution of a SSIS package to export the data from the subscription views to the reporting DB after the business rules are apply to a specific entity.

Currently when I export the data the data will run through an insert type statement, which means that all PKs are reissued, rather than being duplicated from the original, How can I be sure that the data will be copied exactly how it is on one server to the other.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to SQL, ASP.NET, etc. I am creating an intranet site for my company in VS 2005 and have run into a very annoying problem that I can't seem to solve. I have tried Googling it and came up empty. I have a database in SQL Express 2005 and my website will be accessing several tables within the database. I can retrieve info just fine and I can update, delete, etc just fine using gridview or other prebuilt tools, but when I add a few text boxes and wire a button to the SqlDataSource.Insert() command, I get a new record that is full of null values except for the identity key I have set. The kicker is that I am also using a master page and when I duplicate the web page without the master page link, everything works just fine. The following snippets show what I'm doing:<InsertParameters><asp:FormParameter Name="Name" Type="String" FormField="txtName" /><asp:FormParameter Name="Location" Type="String" FormField="ddlLocation" /><asp:FormParameter Name="Issue" Type="String" FormField="txtProblem" /></InsertParameters>Of course I match the formfields to the text boxes, create an onclick event for my button, the sqldatasource is configured correctly, it just doesn't work with the master page no matter what I do. On my site users can register using ASP Membership Create user Wizard control. I am also using the wizard control to design a simple question and answer form that logged in users have access to. it has 2 questions including a text box for Q1 and dropdown list for Q2. I want to publish a database on the web and enable to end users to click a button on the web page which will export the data from a table into an Excel spreadsheet which is then saved onto the user's machine.

I usually export data from my sqlserver db to a mdb file. I know there are different destinations like csv, txt, etc... But however, how can I export data in a sql script file???? I know i should do it with the sentence "insert into table" but i would like to know if the sqlserver has some option to do this without i have to write the sentence for each rows to insert. I know this option in Oracle.
Every day I have to export data from SQL server 2005 to Microsoft access. (with export data wizard) There is an automatic function that allow to overwrite the data? because every time that I do it the tables goes to add to the existing Access database. So every time before start the job I have to delete the file and create a newone.

I want to develop a small tool to export data from a database (SQL Server and Oracle). I have to export full tables or part of tables depending on an SQL statement.
My first idea is to use ADO. I open a recordset on the table (adCmdTable) and I call the Save method to save the recordset in a file. But, when I open the recordset, it takes a long time ... I suppose that ADO performs a " select * from table " to retreive all the lines ... It's too long for me because some tables have more then 10 millions of lines !!!
Do you known if it's possible to open a table without any "select" (just open and save) ? Do you kown others solutions ? I can develop with DO or ADO.Net.
I would like to export the database(with table schema and existing data). My database is a mdf file and i know that SQL Server 2005 Express Edition cannot do this. Hi I am using CSV (comma delimeted file) for exporting data from sql server table to CSV and then import to sql server from the CSV. Now I have a problem, I could sucessfully export the data to CSV, but one of the field which has whole html for each product is giving me problem, It wouldnt save in one cell as for other data items in a record are. If I remove that field, the rest of records are exported okay, but with this one, it do export, but the data wouldnt go to one cell of the excel file and hence wouldnt work in importing to sql. I guess some tags in the string is creating problem plus also what should I do if the string already have comma as data, and we use comma as delimiting character. Any kind of help greatly appreciated

HiI am using SQL Server Management Studio Express and I noticed in my data I made a big mistake(effects every peice of data I have in my row) I need to grab all these cells so I can then do a find an replace on them all and fix my mistake. I tried to use find and replace in SQL Server Management Studio Express but it seems to not work on data in the files so I am wondering how do I export all this data out so it is in a notepad file and I can just find and replace from there?Thanks
