Export View Result Using Transferdatabase

Jul 23, 2005

I am trying to export the results of a view from an .adp to an .mdb
using TransferDatabase. The code I am using is
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acExport, "Microsoft Access", _
"C:\___workWayAheadImplementationXTRA_Samples.md b" _
, acTable, "x_loe_vw", "LOE_tbl"

When I run this I get an error that states
" can't find the object 'x_loe_vw'".
Yet it is defined as a view.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jerry

TransferDatabase Task In SSIS

Oct 23, 2006

Hi

I am trying to write a dynamic Transfer Database task in my SSIS package which generates the DestinationDatabaseName and DestinationDatabaseFiles on the fly before each run.

I have written a Script task which generates a string in the format("MyDB_data.mdf","C:Data","";"MyDB_log.ldf","C:Data","") and stores this in a variable which is then bound to the DestinationDatabaseFiles property using Expressions.  But I keep getting the following error-

Package Validation Error (Package Validation Error)

===================================

Error at Copy MyDB monthly snapshot database [Transfer Database Task]: The number of source transfer files and the number of destination transfer files must be the same.

Error at Copy MyDB monthly snapshot database: The Validate method on the task failed, and returned error code 0x80131502 (Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index). The Validate method must succeed and indicate the result using an "out" parameter.

The number of source and destination files are same, and the path works fine when hardcoded in as a property value.

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

SSIS EXPORT TO EXCEL DIFFERENT RESULT THAN DTS EXP

Jun 12, 2008

have now spent 3 days on finding a solution for this problem.

I export data from a table with a money data type column to excel. Before I do the export I'm creating the table in excel with a create table statement in "Execute sql task editor" like this:
CREATE TABLE `test` (
`MYmoney` Currency)

in the datapump I use OLDB source (local sql server) and destination OLE DB connection (excel destination).

When I open up the excel spreadsheet the Mymoney column will show dollar sign. The problem is that it should be Swedish kr currency showing. WHen I'm running the old DTS package in "Microsoft sql server dts designer components" in sql 2005 on the same server this result will be in the currency kr as it should be.

When I'm running the SSIS on my local machine the result also get right.

Any ideas?

Thanks

View Result Cached

Aug 1, 2007

I am using SQL server 2005. I have a VIEW that joins several tables. One of the table's column can be added dynamically by the user from a GUI interface. However, after a column is added, it does not show up in the VIEW immediately. It will take a while (I haven't figured out exactly how long) before the extra column shows up as the execution result of the VIEW.
So it seems like SQL server is caching that VIEW's schema. Is there anyway I can make this view always comes back with the latest schema?
Thanks a lot!

Cannot Copy Column Names View Result Set

Feb 10, 2007

In SQL 2005 - when I display the results of a View and Copy all rows and columns, the resulting Paste in Excel does not include the column names.

How can I set SQL 2005 so the names of the columns will come along with the content of the copy function?

Background:

When I am using a SQL Query (instead of a view) I have the ability to control whether or not I am able to Include the Column Headers when copying or saving results. The control exists in the Options > Query Results > Results to Grid > Include column headings etc.

My question is how to get this same ability when attempting to copy the results of a VIEW vs. a Query.

Thank you,
Poppa Mike

Using Data Source View In Import Export Package Within Same Solution Is Not Possible ?

Dec 15, 2005

hello ,

I want to download data from an AS/400 to a SQL 2005 Database.

Within Sql server 2000 it was possible to do more than 1 transformation with just 1 source connenction and 1 destination.

In SSIS I have created:

-  new solution

-  data source

-  Data source viewer ( I made named queries to format the data as i want it to be in Sql)

Although it is possible to view the named query data it does not seem to be possible to import the data in the data viewer into my sql 2005 database. (For each dataflow I have to define each query again)

I have added the data source in the connection manager.

Also I am searching to import more than 1 file in 1 package !

I can use however a Dts-2000 package but why then use SQL server 2005

Hope somebody can help me

Regard,

Ronny
