Is it possible to take a Database from version 8.0 (SQL Server 2000) and convert it to version 7.0? My ISP is running SQL Server 7, and I am developing on SQL Server 2000. I will be using Active Server Pages to make most of my modifications to the database, once it is complete. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

Is there any way to restore a database of higher version to lower version.
E.g. I have created a database in sql server 2012, created some tables & procedures in that.I took Full backup of that database. Can I restore it to sql 2008r2 or any lower version.
I know direct restore is not possible, I have to use either import or export option or generating script,but i want to know is there any easy step to do so.

I have an ssis package that downloads a SQL Server 2000 database and restores it to a SQL 2005 server. Ninety-five percent of the time it runs just fine, but every so often the job fails and I get the following set of error messages in the log file. (I have had to delete some of the proprietary information for this message to satisfy my boss like putting in [Database name] in place of the actual name of the database in the error message).

Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.
I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.
Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:
Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.
I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
I've never dealt with stored procedures much.. but i have a new database
created.. imported the tables, but the stored procedures didnt get copied
over..
Is there an easy way to export them.. perhaps to a .sql file ... then import
them or run a script on the other database..
I have never done much with the query window before, so i'm not sure how to
handle this.. as there are around 20 stored procedures that need imported..

I am going through the process of exporting a SQL Server 2005 DB to my hosting company for the first time. Initially I tried using SQL Server Management Studio to "Export" the DB, which has all of the membership functionality (by runnung aspnet_regsql.exe) and a few extra tables - nothing too complicated.
Exporting with SQL SMS did not seem to copy my stored procedures accross and this gave me problems.
I then tried SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard - as recommended by this post: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/01/11/tip-trick-how-to-upload-a-sql-file-to-a-hoster-and-execute-it-to-deploy-a-sql-database.aspx
So this is my process:
1. set up empty DB on hosting server2. get admin to allow dbo permissions on this DB3. open SQL SDPW and create a script which will create an exact copy of my local DB4. run the script on my new empty Db on server...
when i do this i get the following errors:

When i look at the DB hosted on the server, it seems that all of my stored procedures are there. One thing I noticed was that some of my "Views" were in the "Tables" folder (i dont know if this matters)The result that this is having is that I do not get any errors, but the queries on my page where i reference one of my views (like vw_aspnet_MembershipUsers), the latest records are not appearing.I think that somehow my stored procedures are not referencing the correct views and tables maybe?Anyway - if anyone has come across this, please help me out (even if its just to say ive done something stupid )

I would like to know how to export a single table from an SQL 2005 DB. I need to export this table from one SQL server to another. Just one table and its contents. Also, I woud like this exported table to be saved as a *.dat file?

We have databases with large numbers of tables. We have a separate database for each year. For various reasons, we need to export about 100 of the tables (Structure only, not their data) from last years database into this year's database. What is the best method for doing this? The import/export wizard creates the tables but does not bring in important things like keys.

if we generate a database file on a particular version of ms sql express and in time to come if there are a few more versions of ms sql express out there with the users - if we continue to package with our app a database file from an older version of sql express will that be a problem with users running a newer version of sql express ?
Also what about the converse scenario - where we ship a database file from a newer version of sql while the customer is still running on an older version.

Since some analysis services features are only available in Enterprise version , I have to upgrade my SQL 2005 server from standard edition to enterpise edition.
So I uninstall originial standard version of analysis service and install a Enterprise version. However, the analysis service is still a standard version after installation.
Is it possible to keep data engine as standard version and install a enterprise version of analysis service?

I have a SQL Server 2005 DB that contains a version number that is specific to its schema. I have an SSIS package that performs an export/import of user data. I need to be able to compare the DB version number of both the target and the source database before the migrate operation can continue. Does anyone know if there is a Control Flow Task (or some other task) to do such a thing or will I need to write a custom Script Task?

Hello,I have been searching and reading a lots of information on the microsoft website about the different version of SQL server, but still can not make my decision.In term of performance, is there a real big difference between the workgroup and the standard version? The workgroup is limited to 3 GB of RAM while the standard is unlimited, would that really change the performance if my server has 16Gb or RAM?The price difference is pretty substantial so if could only have to buy the workgroup , it would be better.One more question, regarding the type of licence, my server has 2 processors, could I avoid buying 2 licences and get the Server plus CAL instead. The reason is because the Enterprise Evaluation version expires after 180 days. So if I create reports and cubes in Enterprise Evaluation I can import them into Developer Edition right? I have received the error message "Package migration from version 8 to version 6 failed".I have developed a SSIS package with Visual Studio 2013 which gives me PackageFormatVersion of 8. I then deploy my package to the ssisdb catalog that is running on a SQL Server 2012, this works fine but when I try to execute the package the error arises…due to SQL Server 2012 has a PackageFormatVersion of 6 and it can’t run something that has a greater version.I haven’t seen any good solution for this but one that would work for me would be to upgrade the Integration Services Server from 2012 to 2014, leaving everything else in 2012 (database, ssms, ssas, ssrs).Would this solve the package format problem? Would I then be able to execute my packages in the ssisdb catalog?
