I am having data model diagram containing 150 odd tables in MS Office Visio 2007.The Datamodel Diagram even has the Relationships between the Tables.
Do we have any Procedure to export the Datamodel Diagram from the Visio to the Sql Server carrying all the relationships.
We are having the reverse engineer procedure to export database diagrams from Sql server to the datamodel diagram in the Visio in the same way, do we have any procedure to Export DataModel diagram from Visio to SQL Server to create tables with all the relationships?
Hello, I've just created a Sales Forecasting Mining Model. How do i export the predicted time series values into a table?? Is there any tutorial explaining this.
Data mining add-in for Office Visio 2007 is great. But what I am concerning is-to end users (to technical users) how could we deliver the data mining models results in a better way (e.g. integrate with other possible clients ) to make it dynamically and easily undertood?
I'm running Visio 2003 on Windows XP with SQL Server 2005 Express rather than MSDE. Is this configuration supported? If yes, how does the SQL database get built since SSADMIN.exe (delivered with the Visio SDK) does not detect an MSDE compatible database when SQL Server 2005 Express is not installed?
Hi i am trying to export data from .csv file to sql server and my data is coming as "xyz" where i want only to store as XYZ i am using derived column but i am not able to capture " and replace it what approach should i take here , also i am trying to convert String True to Boolean 1 and vice versa for False in database how do i do that please help me with this.
I have a web application I created in asp.net + sql2005 and am deploying a genercized version of it to multiple clients. I have created a script which dynamically generates a database to a server and creates all of the tables, procs, and views. I now need data from the old database, which will be imported into the new database. It's basically default users, lookup values, etc. What are some methods of getting this data out of the old server and into the new server? I was thinking about generating flat files with the data, then writing code to loop through and insert the data, but it seems very tedious. Do I have any other options? I cannot use Backup and Restore because I have no access to the new sql server's filesystem.Thanks.
I have managed to add the DTS wizard as a tool and saved the routine. However, I do not know how to schedule my PC to automatically run this DTS procedure. I have tried to use scheduled tasks, but it does not seem to want to start.
As you can see it just has all the 50 states and I have a datatable called HdrStateProv with three fields, stateProvID, stateProvNme, CountryID in my SQL Server Express. How would I import(map) this data there? I tried the sqlbulkimport KB article but does that not seem to work. Thanks for your time!
The basic question What is the best way to export data from an excel spreadsheet into a sql server table? My Application Getting data indicating hours worked from employee timesheets into a centralised DB, then running analysis reports on it. The columns and datatypes in the excel sheet are as follows: Week (int) | EmployeeID (int) | JobNum (int) | ActivityNum (int) | Hours (int)
There will be a new excel file each week that, once the employee has filled out the data, would need to be saved and exported to the sql table. The columns in the sql table are exactly the same as the excel table with the addition of a RecordID primary key column.
Can I create a macro button that they can push when they have completed their timesheet OR would it be better to tell the employees to save copies of their timesheets in a certain folder on the company network and then run a batch on all the files in the folder at the end of the day?
Or is there another more efficient solution? Would I use SSIS for this or something else?
I've never used SSIS before and am a newbie at SQL Server too.
I thought this should be easy... but, so far it has not been. I want to export data from SQL Server using a query to an Excel spreadsheet. I'm using SQL Server ODBC for the source connection and a Connection To Excel as my destination source. The spreadsheet exists and has the first row with column names. My mappings and query work fine. I don't have any warnings before trying to execute. BUT it will not insert the data into the spreadsheet. Here are the errors I'm getting: [Destination - TEST$ [28]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21. [Destination - TEST$ [28]] Error: Cannot create an OLE DB accessor. Verify that the column metadata is valid. [DTS.Pipeline] Error: component "Destination - TEST$" (28) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202025.
TEST$ is the sheet that I am trying to add the data to and I'm using Excel 2003.
My query is simple: SELECT OrderDate AS Date, VendorName AS Vendor, Item AS Product, TotalCost AS Amount FROM osv_Ordercaldwecs319 All fields have been converted to varchar although I started with not trying to convert them so I have tried both ways.
What is causing the errors? Where can I look to find the problem? I'm guessing it's a data conversion problem but I made everything varchar and no formating on the spreadsheet (although I've tried that as well)
I need to export data, from within a MSSql stored procedure to excel. Right now we use DTS, but its cumbersome and the users always screw it up.
I would usually just send the tabel to a .csv fiel and pick it up in excel, but I have a field that has preceding zeros and excel truncates them and uses a general fromat.
I have to export the table data from my databse into text files as I nedd to put it in Informix database using a sheel script. Is there a way by which I can do this.
Is there any other way by which I can put the data from SQL Server to Informix.
I am exporting data to database server from local server through Enterprise Mgr. Data is successfully transferred along with table structures. Only problem remains with the fields which are set IDENTITY.
Even I tried to find out ALTER TABLE statement so that I can alter the tables using Query Analyzer but I found that setting IDENTITY through query is not permitted after SQL Server 6.5. Why so?
Is the any way to set IDENTITY fields without Enterprise Manager?
I've been doing research on the web trying to find if it's possible to create a Report Model that is based on a Data Source that is NOT SQL Server and NOT SSAS.
Specifically I'd like to be able to build a Report Model on a Web Server (or multiple web services).
Does anyone have any information relating to this? Based on my research it looks like there's a few interfaces that need to be implemented (such as ISemanticModelGenerator, etc.).
I did find a post relating to using ODBC data sources for a Report Model and the recommended solution was Linked Tables in SQL Server or UDM in SSAS. Both cases don't look feasible for a Web Service-based Data Source.
Hi, I am new to ASP.net. I have worked on a VB.net code to export data from sql server to excel. The code is simple and works well. Now I am placing this code in a button click event in a asp.net web project. The code has bugs now and I am not sure how to solve those. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. CODE: Protected Sub btnDumpMaterial_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) 'ErrorMsg.Show("Not Implemented Yet1") 'lblName.Text = txtLast.Text & ", " & txtFirst.Text Dim DBConnection As String = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;uid=sa;password=test ;database=Northwind;DataSource={localhost}" Dim sql As String = "SELECT CustomerId, CompanyName, ContactName From Customers" Dim Conn As New ADODB.Connection Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset Dim oExcel As Excel.Application Dim oBook As Excel.Workbook Dim oSheet As Excel.Worksheet oExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") oExcel.Visible = True oBook = oExcel.Workbooks.Add oSheet = oBook.ActiveSheet Conn.Open(DBConnection, "sa", "test", -1) rs.Open(sql, DBConnection, ADODB.CursorTypeEnum.adOpenStatic, ADODB.LockTypeEnum.adLockBatchOptimistic, 1) oSheet.Range("A1").CopyFromRecordset(rs) rs.Close() Conn.Close() End Sub ERROR MESSAGE: Type 'ADODB.Connection' is not defined Type 'ADODB.Recordset' is not defined Type 'Excel.Application' is not defined Type 'Excel.Worksheet' is not defined Name 'ADODB' not declared
I am getting the error message as "DIAG [00000] [ODBC Access Driver 52.1.150.0] -26 Driver not capable (-26)" at the time of retrieving the catalog infromation by SqlTables methode. it is shown "?" as catalogname but this not supported by odbc access driver. can you please help out how can i resolve using C++ code in SqlTables methode.
I am attempting to create the "Classification - Children at Home" Data Mining Model as described in Larson's book. Each time that I create it.. ONLY the ALL LEVEL is shown and it is impossible to expand the model to look at the Decision Tree, Neural Network, or the Clustering model etc. Drill down is enabled (tried it with and without enabling the drill down). The Children at Home field has been populated with values from 0 - 4. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. regards Steve

I am in the process of creating another database for one of our departments, I'm creating a diagram of the structure in visio 2003. I'm done with the diagram but when I try to export to sql it wont let me. Anyone ever had this problem before?? This is the Error message I'm getting
ODBC Error: 01000 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Warning: The table 'Audit_Tbl' has been created but its maximum row size (20070) exceeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060). INSERT or UPDATE of a row in this table will fail if the resulting row length exceeds 8060 bytes.
CREATE TABLE employees ( employee_number char(6) NOT NULL , known_as char(20) , surname char(20) , job_title char(20) , manager_number char(6) NULL , unique_identifier char(6) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY ) --unique_identifier is in the format 000123456789
Now I have a conundrum when trying to create organization charts in Visio, so I figured I'd try reproduce the format that a bunch of walkthroughs suggest, which is with the first column being an int identity(1,1) column as the employeeID with the managerID being an int column also, referencing the employeeID. Hope I've not lost you just yet ;) So here's what I figured - create a new table with the new integer columns, slap my current data into it and then update the managerID as necessary...
Except I can't work out the update statement for this!
CREATE TABLE gvVisioTest ( employeeID int identity(1,1) , employee_number char(6) , job_title char(40) , department_reference char(10) , managerID int , manager_number char(6) ) GO
INSERT INTO gvVisioTest(employee_number, job_title, department_reference, manager_number) SELECT employee_number, job_title, department_reference, manager_number FROM employees GO
--Update managerID with relevant employeeID GO
DROP TABLE gvVisioTest
Any ideas?
Oh and this is legacy so the design is flawed, modified over time (the manager field is a bodge put in 5 years ago), so yeah unfortunately I have to work with what I've got :(
I'm really new to the whole database deal (as well as VB.net) - specifically with the capabilities surrounding VB and SQL Server 2005. My question is open to any recommendations...
What I have is an application that a user uses to create 'new' products. They are presented a form to enter the information regarding the product they wish to create. They enter the details of the product and also locate an image that represents the product, too. Currently, this application saves the product information (including binary image data) into a SQL Server 2005 Express Edition database. This application and database reside on a client pc. What I need to do is to be able save updated and newly created product data into a file of some sort. That file will make its way to a memory stick (USB) and then be transported to a 'field' machine. Quite simply, what is the best way to do this? Are there walk-throughs on this sort of thing? The target database is also SQL Server 2005. I thought I'd post this question on here to get the best design ideas... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've question about how to handle structural datamodel changes in a datasource of PowerPivot. Suppose I'm developing a starmodel in SQL Server and sometimes a datatype changes or a name of a field changes in a table. It seems to me that PowerPivot handle this not gracefully as Analysis MD does (mostly). I received an error because of a wrong fieldname or even no error when a dattype changes in PowerPivot. Is this common or do I something wrong here. Does this mean that every time the datamodel changes the PowerPivot should be recreated? Or am I missing the clue here?
I am getting ErrorCode 8 while loading the data from stage to model. I have checked my error view it states that "Member Code is Inactive".
Initially I have loaded same set of data in Model from MDS Stage table but then deleted with ImportType = 5 which removed all the data from the MDM model.
Now i want to load it back but its giving the Error Code 8 .. Before loading the same data i have changed the stage table Importtype to 2 and Importstatusid to 0.
