I´m creating a report in SSRS 2005 where you can filter after month and year. The result is the total sale for that particular month. What I want to do, is adding an extra column to compare with the result in the same month last year. F.eks. say that I choose january 2008 I would like to see the results for january 2007.
I thought of writing an expression to do that, but as that isn't my stronges side I would appreciate some help

Hi this is the code that I am using to populate a table let us call new_table. However what I would like to do is get the max forecast date and get the statistics_period for that max forecast date.
Once I get that I would set that as my current statistics period.
Then I want to create a new column in the same new_table call stat_period-1, which would be the one period back.
Please note that the statistics period is like the months 1 – 12. Does not go higher that 12 and does not go lower than 1.
So for stat_period-1 when statistics period is equal to 1 it would have to be set to 12.
This is what I want but do not know how to place this into the code, please help me with this. THanks
I am trying to code a WHERE xxxx IN ('aaa','bbb','ccc') requirement but it the return values for the IN keyword changes according to another column, thus the need for a CASE function.

Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 44Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'WHERE'. which leads me to assume that the CASE ... WHEN ... THEN statement does not allow mutiple values for result expression. Is there a way to get the SQL above to work or code the same logic in a different manner in just one simple SQL, and not a procedure or T-SQL script.

I have a line graph in my report.My report has no parameters on it.What I ideally want it to do is if I run the report today (May) it will only show me the last 12 months so May to May.At the moment it is including April from last year as well, so would want that excluded. If I run it in two months time in July I would want it to only show July to July.The chart has the categories of Finanical Year (in the 2014-2015 format) and the actual month name.

I am trying to get data back from stored procedure output arguments. I am in a Visual C++ enviroment calling the stored procedure via the ODBC function SQLExecDirect. When the stored procedure has only a single output argument, everything works fine. When there are multiple output arguments, I get an error "Invalid Cursor State' from the SQLFetch. This is telling me there is no result set. Below is a pseudo code fragment which shows what I am doing. I want to use SQLGetData to convert the data into C variables. I do not want to use SQLBindParameter or Parameter Markers. When there are multiple out parameters, I get a SQL error state 24000 which is "Invalid Cursor State". This tells me there is no result set for the Fetch to act on. The stored procedure is doing a select for each out parameter. Any Idea why I get an error when using more than one out parameter

We're trying to launch a SSIS package throw a webservice. This WebService loads a configuration file with "myPackage.ImportConfigurationFile(pathConfig)" and assigns values to some variables with "myPackage.Variables.Item(Parameters.Keys.Item(i)).Value = Parameters.Item(i)". Seems to work.
I we execute the webmethod of the WebService, this works but only when we execute first time, the SSIS finished succesfully. But when we execute a second time the Webmethod, we've a lot of failure with messages:

Is there a way of taking a result from a query and pulling out a certain account number and displaying those account numbers - as fred? Eg. I have a drop down of account number (s) however they pull from a table that only displays them as account numbers. I would like to give more a description to certain account numbers that are pulled. Eg. account number 234 will be fred and account number 555 will be sam etc. Trying to add it to the query on the dataset is complicated, so I was wondering if I created an additional blank field with an expression to be able to do this?Â

I have a package with an input column that is varchar(8000).
I want to strip the first byte off of this column and put it in one result column and the remainder of the field I want to go to a second column. If the input column is an empty string, I want to return NULL.
Pulling the first byte off works fine, no issues, however putting the remainder of the input column into an output column is giving me a little trouble.
The expression passes muster but I get the warning that I will be truncating the column at 4000 bytes.
In actuality, I don't care if the result column is truncated after 4000 bytes. I find the second solution to be a bit clunky and I'm wondering if anyone can give me a reason why the first solution won't evaluate but the second will?
Hello,I'm trying to create a simple back up in the SQL Maintenance Plan that willmake a single back up copy of all database every night at 10 pm. I'd likethe previous nights file to be overwritten, so there will be only a singleback up file for each database (tape back up runs every night, so each daysback up will be saved on tape).Every night the maintenance plan makes a back up of all the databases to anew file with a datetime stamp, meaning the previous nights file stillexists. Even when I check "Remove files older than 22 hours" the previousnights file still exists. Is there any way to create a back up file withoutthe date time stamp so it overwrites the previous nights file?Thanks!Rick
New to Database Mirroring and I have a question about the Principal database server. I have a Database Mirroring setup configured for High-safety with automatic fail over mode using a witness.
When a fail over occurs because of a lost of communication between the principal and mirror, the mirror server takes on the roll of Principal. When communication is returned to the Principal server, at some point does the database that was the previous Principal database automatically go back to being the Principal server?

I have created 1 report with 2 datasets. This report is attached to the 1st dataset.For example,1st one is "Smallappliances", 2nd is "Largeappliances".
I created a tablix and, the 1st column extracts Total sales per Sales person between 2 dates from 1st dataset (Small appliances). I used running values expression and it works fine.
Now, I would like to add another column that extracts Total sales per sales person between 2 dates from 2nd dataset (Large appliances). I am aware that I need to use Lookup expression and it is giving me the single sales value rather than the total sales values. So, I wanted to use RunningValue expression within lookup table to get total sales for large appliances.
This is the lookup expression that I added for the 2nd column.
