Externally Accessing Localmachine To View Reports

How is it possible for others to browse to my localmachine and view the reports?
They tried browsing to http://machinename/reports
and http://10.1.3.123/reports
But the message the users get is: You are not authorized to view this page.
Then In my localmachine, I changed the IIS setting for the Reports and ReportServer to allow anonymous access. Then the users were able to see the Home page of the reports but not the reports themselves to click on for viewing. Any thoughts please?

Hello,
I am trying to access some SQL 2005 reports externally from the network, however when i try to open the reports i get the following error -
· "The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure."
Any ideas on how i could resolve this issue?

We have sql 2005 setup pulling sharepoint list data and we have created a report from this data. We can view this report through sharepoint internally however when we try to view the report externally we cant view it?
Has anyone else had the same problem?

My reports are deployed on reporting server installed on my machine. Now i want to access the reports on other machines which are on local LAN along with my machine. When i try to access reports from some other machine browser gives error page not found.
Can any one tell me how to do this.

I have created several reports in SRS and I deploy them by establishing a VPN connection than deploying. That much works fine.
Now I want to allow user of my website to access the reports by clicking on a link. Do I need to establish user level access for the reports for each user or just one public access account? How do I pass login and credential information with the link so that users can access the report.

All,
I would like a report to display the number of users and the reports accessed for a certain duration of time[being able to go back and check for previous years as well].
I read on the msdn that 60 days worth of report log is kept,and the rest gets wipped off.Any suggestions on how I would be able to get user access list for the past year as well.

Dear Technical Team,
I am facing an error while displaying a sql reporting service report on my asp.net page. The report it self is build using Report server project. It consists of a Main report which contains a bar graph. Upon clicking on the bar graph, it takes you to another report (i have given in the jump to report section), call it Report 2. Upon clicking on Report 2 it shows another report say Report 3. It is displayed properly as long as i run the preview of the report in my report project. When i deploy this report on the report server and trying it to access using my asp.net code behind. The main reports runs very fine. Upon clicking, it does not do anything and when i click again it display error, the report does not contain any thing. Sometime it does not show even the error. But just could not drill me in.
I presume on the click event of the report which is a char item, it calls the page load event, and it loses it parent report information or something like that. Please can any body guide me how to do this.
The following functionality i need to achieve with my web page.
My main report : Main report :upon click on any char item, it should take you to the second report.
My second report : and on clicking on charitem on the the second report, it should take me to the third report.

First of all, following is my setup.
I have Reporting Services installed on my web server (Windows 2003) where I am hosting my website too.
While installing Reporting Services, I used my database server as SQL Server (Windows 2000, SQL Server 2000).
Now when I try to access from browser using http://servername/reports it's giving me following error: "The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship with remote server."
Also when I try to access http://servername/reportserver/ it gives me this error: "The permissions granted to user '{servername}IUSR_{servername}' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied) Get Online Help"
I have given full access to "ASPNET", as well as "IUSR_{servername}" on the folder "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLReporting Services"
While installing reporting services, I used SQL mode of authentication.
My goal is to have reports on internet for public view. I have "Enable Anonymous access" check box checked on IIS with user name "IUSR_{servername}"
I have looked many places for the error and while many people is having same error, everyone has different reason and different solutions.
Not sure what I am missing here...Can anybody help?

I have to troubleshoot a problem with a complex sproc that is running against a number of views that select entire tables from another "production" database. The problem we are having is that while the views should be read-only, there are no transactions, and no locking, the application's process on SQL Server is blocking anyone else who tries to write data. I'm wondering if this method of using a view as a proxy to another DB is effecting the block. The reason for doing this was to improve performance by offloading the production DB, but since it's the same instance of SQL Server, does it really matter? THX for your advice.

Hi,
Actually we have multiple Sub Reports which we want to open from the Main Report. Initially when i used "Jump To Report" property it worked fine but in the browser the Main Report used to get refreshed everytime i had to Go Back to Main Report from Sub Report.
Second solution which i want to try is using "Jump To URL" property.
Some Details:
I have multiple parameters in the report.
My parameters are getting data from a Cube.
Parameters can have Multiple Vaue selected at a time.
I want to pass all the values to the URL.
Say
Parameter1 is DimCountryCountry
can have values such as:
[Dim Country].[Country].[All]
[Dim Country].[Country].&[India]
[Dim Country].[Country].&[Germany]
......
Parameter2 is DimCountryState
can have values such as:
[Dim Country].[State].[All]
[Dim Country].[State].&[Delhi]
[Dim Country].[State].[Punjab]
.....
Now i want to create a URL using these values,since each parameter should be separated by "&"(ampersand) my URL looks like one below.
Following URL Works fine:
javascript:void(window.open'(http://MyReportServer/ReportServer/Pages/Report.aspx?/MyReports/Project1/Country+Data&rcarameters=false&DimCountryCountry=[Dim Country].[Country].[All]&DimCountryState=[Dim Country].[State].[All]'))
as long as there is no "&" in the Parameter Value the URL works fine.
But when i try to insert values other than "[All]" it starts failing because "[Dim Country].[Country].&[India]" contains "&", which gives error due to ambiguity, (whether this "&" is a parameter separater or is it a part of parameter value)
So i found a solution for that, which is to replace "&" with "%26" escape sequence characters.This works fine as long as we specify this escape sequence in address bar. i.e if we directly paste the following URL in the address bar it will work.
http://MyReportServer/ReportServer/Pages/Report.aspx?/MyReports/Project1/Country+Data&rcarameters=false&DimCountryCountry=[Dim Country].[Country].%26[India]&DimCountryState=[Dim Country].[State].%26[Delhi]
but if we put this URL in the Javascript, it doesnot work, because the WIndow.Open function automatically replaces the
"%26" characters with "&", which we know gives ambiguity error.
Please let me know if you have any suggesiton for it. Anyway any better solution for my problem.

Hi all, I'm setting up an ODBC connection for the UPS WorldShip application. I created a view for the shipment data in my database. The user account I'm using can only access the view, and when I try to connect it says there are no tables. Is there a way to make ODBC "think" the view is a table? TIA! - Mark

Hiya folks,
I'n need to access a view from within a SProc, to see if the view returns a recordset and if it does assign one the of the fields that the view returns into a variable.
The syntax I'm using is as follows :
SELECT TOP 1 @MyJobN = IJobN FROM MyView
I keep getting an object unknown error (MyView). I've also tried calling it with the 'owner' tags.
SELECT TOP 1 @MyJobN = IJobN FROM LimsLive.dbo.MyView
But alas to no avail!

Quick history, I have substantial experience using MS Access, VBA, and Regular Expressions to clean up messy text files for use in MS Access.
I want to upgrade an MS Access back end to SQL Server (2008 to be specific). I need to upload several delimited files on a daily basis. The files are full of formatting that I strip out using VBA and Regular Expressions. I've poked around on the site and found some UDFs that implement the VbScript Regular Expressions object as a stored procedure in Transact SQL.
My questions is, am I better off processing the files externally using a procedural language like VB or can SQL Server handle the processing as gracefully as MS Access/VBA/RegEx does?
Thanks for letting me tap into your experience.
I could simply puzzle it out myself by implementing it in SQL Server but I'd rather not waste the time as a newb to transact SQL and then find out that I'd be better off doing it externally.

I can browse my subfolders containing reports in Home, but Internet Explorer displays error message when I press a report.
I can use Properties, History and the other tabs, but when I press "View" tab I can only see error message.
I have to use external IP address (217.x.x.x/Reports) so I tried to set this IP in ReportManagerRSWebAppConfig file:

<ReportServerUrl>http://217.x.x.x/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>
</UI>
But when I try to use local IP address (10.x.x.x/Reports) in my local net, I can't connect to the report server.
When I change this to <ReportServerUrl>http://10.x.x.x/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>
I can't view my reports from external host using external IP (217.x.x.x/Reports) because local IP is used when I press "View" tab.
I don't know if there are other files that should be changed? Can somebody tell me how to solve this problem?

Hi,
i have a prob;lem while using report manager.when i login As "administrator" to the report manager i can see all the folders and i can check also reports. when i create new users with some role and i login as new user i can see the specified folder and report but when i click to see the report this message appear:
" Your browser does not support scripts or has been configured not to allow scripts".
Note that these same reports i can check them when i login as administrator
i am using sql server 2005
please it's important to resolve this problem as soos as possible

Hi,
This is regarding the SQL 2005 Report Manager (http://localhost/Reports) page. I have posted the reports, the reports run fine, buttons like new folder, new data source, etc... are visible (lets call this machine as A). The problem is when my machine is accessed from a nearby computer on the same network as http://machineA/Reports, the Report manager Home page appears with limited or no buttons. The reports are also not visible in the browser of machine B. How do I make the reports visible to users (grant permission) for them to run and view those reports?
In a nutshell, how the posted reports be accessed by users?

I'm able to preview my report in Visual Studio and once I'm deploying it, it is getting deployed also on the Local server but when I'm using browser and trying to view the report, it is showing me following error message:
Unable to connect to the remote server
The attempted operation is not supported for the type of object referenced
I'm using Win XP Pro with a developer edition of Sql Server 2005 and administrator of computer. Not able to understand why in browser I'm not able to view reports.

Hello,
We recently did an "in place" upgrade of SQL Server and SSRS 2000 to 2005.
After the upgrade we cannot view the exisiting reports. (although we can publish new reports using the VS2005 Designer and they show up just fine.)
We have SP2 installed for SSRS2005 and all SPs for SQL are up to date.
When we navigate to an existing report via the reporting services website, the report acts like it is trying to run and then returns and error message:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
When we look at the logs we see that the report server cannot initialize the stream from the Catalog table.

Hi All,
I am having multiple URL in multiple zones for my site.I am not able to view SSRS reports on Internet which is in Internet zone where as i can view the same reports on Intranet site having URL in default zone.
I m getting the following Error while accessing reports over internet:
" Unable to connect to the remote server.No connection to be made because target machine actively refused."
It would be great help if any one can solve this problem.

Ideally, I'd like to have the reports use windows authentication, ie grab current user/password so long as user does not have to enter it manually. If that is not possible, then how do I make it so user does not have to enter this info manually? My theory is that I have IIS set up incorrectly for doing this, but I'm not familiar enough with either reporting services or IIS to find out.

I have been asked to move our entire system over from SQL2000 to SQL2005, i eventually got our database and Cubes over to 2005 and converted all my reports to 2005 and deployed them successfully on RS2005
All the subscriptions have been made and they seem to work when i click to view them. Although when i create a DDS for all my reports to run then they fail. Now i've got over 5000 reports to build and i'm definately not going to create each report manually. My SQL Reports huild successfully, it just seems to be the MDX Reports with a problem, i;ve checked my stored procs and they seem fine, i've even seen the [Clients].&[All.Clients] difference from SQL2005 ---->&<------ that is not in SQL2000.
If someone has, or has had the same problem before would you please help me. Any advice or suggestions would be more than welcome.

1 user can see only two reports
2 user can see only another two reports
how can i do this by SSRS???
Can i do by using Configure item-level role definitions in seetings link..
or is thr any another way to do this?

Hi,
I have couple of Web pages linking to my RDLs using report viewer Web controls. I have no problem running and viewing them in VS2005 debug mode and report manager until I published them to local folder and set the local folder as an application on my IIS7. When running the published version of the Web pages, all my calendar image buttons (which happen to be part of the report parameter fields) turned to red 'X':

When clicking the View Report button, the animated progress icon not appearing at all. Before the occurance of this problem, I did face the problem whereby the 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' does not have enough permission to view the report. After referring to some threads, I finally be able to get rid of this error by assigning Browser role to 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE' from the report manager. I wonder could this solution be related to the problem that I'm facing now. Any help would be appreciated.

I got a problem with my project on reporting services. I installed MS SQL Server 2014 (86x version), Report Builder 3.0 (for creating my reports) and Data Tools for my SQL Server.Now I created a report via Report Builder 3.0 with a SAP NetWeaver as a data source. I could create and view it in Report Builder 3.0.
But when I want to view it on my Report Server it doesn't work. I only get this error."An error has occurred during reporting processing. (Processing Aborted) An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'SAPBW' that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsDataExtensionNotFound)" ...
I found on the internet a few solutions. I installed the Data Tools for the 86x version of the SQL Server. Didn't work. And when I want to change some coding in "RSReportDesigner.config" it says that I'm not allowed to save the changes in this directory.

I have several reports in a Power View Gallery. In Gallery view, most of the reports show the "Open New Excel Workbook", the "Create Power View Report", and the "Manage Data Refresh" buttons on the right side of the report list. Why would some reports not have these buttons available? In the attached image you can see one report with the buttons and one without the buttons.

"SSIS 2012 Catalog doesn't have option to give read access to SSIS Catalog to view package run reports" ... Any luck allowing power developers / operators access to READ the SQL 2012 SSIS Execution Reports without granting them SSIS_Admin or Sysadmin?
According to this link posted back in 2011 (w/ Microsoft's feedback in Nov 2011: "We’re closing this issue as “Won’t Fix.” At this point the bug does not meet our bar for resolving prior to SQL Server 2012 RTM. As we approach the SQL Server 2012 release the bar for making code changes gets progressively higher." URL....Regarding Permissions to SSIS Catalog, here are the findings. We can give access in three ways:
1. READ Access – We can provide a user db_datareader access. With this the user can see the objects within the SSIS catalog database, but cannot see the reports.
2. SSIS_ADMIN – Add the user to this database role in SSISDB. With this the user can view the reports. But it also provides them privileges to modify catalog information which is not expected. We can add it using below script EXEC sp_addrolemember 'ssis_admin' , 'REDMONDPAIntelAnalyst'
3. SYSADMIN - Add the user to this server role. This will make the user an admin on the SQL server. This is not intended. Is there any method available which will have provision to give read only access to see SSIS Catalog package execution reports and not having modify Catalog access.

Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports,
Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting
or presentation of the end report product?

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.
Any help is appreciated
