Extracting Several Rows Of Information
Jan 31, 2014I am trying to write a query that selects multiple rows of a table and puts those into a single string with a comma delimiter.
I want it to select all rows after a specific word is found in the row above and then stop selecting when another specific word below the last row is found.

The data i am using is very unorganised and has not headers, so I have to try and specific lines in order to allocate them to a specific user.

Extracting Information Outside A Table

I have two tables - a stock table and a transaction table. The stock table is called stock and the transaction table is called trans. The table make a point of sale database. Both table have a joining field called prod_no.
I want to extract the stock line by querying stock.prod_no that are not present in the trans table for a period of time specified.
Basically, I want to find dead stock lines that have not been sold and, therefore, are not in the transaction table but that have a stock figure. I have to enter in a start and end date paramater using the ddate field in the trans table. I have looked at left, right and outer joins but with no luck and don't even know if this is the correct query type to use.

Extracting Package Information From SSIS

I am supposed to maintain a bunch of excels documenting all the mappings I'm doing in SSIS. The excels have the following format:
Target Field | Target Type | Source Table | Source Field | Source Type | Transformation Rule
Apart from being incredibly tedious, it is hard to keep every excel current, as there are other people adding and taking information from the database model.
I plan to extract this information from SSIS and create the excels dinamically, but, apart from parsing the .dtsx for each package, I see no other way of getting what I need.
Any suggestions on how I should do this? Is there an easier way?

Extracting BLOB Into File System
May 1, 2014I have read access to a database that appears to store files as "BLOBS".I am trying to create a VB macro that extracts the blob file to a location (lets say... my desktop) as an easy way of viewing the content of that file.
I am using Oracle SQL Developer with Read access to the database. The BLOBS can be located but I am unable to find a SQL string that will convert the blobs back into files located on my desktop.I can locate the blob in the database and obviously it appears appears as a text string. I have heard of two keywords: DBMS_LOB and UTL_File.I am not only new to databases but also new to storing files as strings in a database.
Extracting Data From An Excel File
Dec 4, 2007I have an Excel 97 file that has a lot of data in it and I need to pull out pieces of that data. Here is one example of the data I have. It is in colum C in Excel.

What is the best way to attach this? I have several other items I need to pull out of this Excel File, but if I can get this figured out I can adapt it to get the rest of what I want.

Adding File Information To SQL Database On File Upload

I'm in the final stage of my asp.net project and one of the last things I need to do is add the following file information to my SQL server 2000 database when a file is uploaded:
First of all I have a resource table to which I need to add:
- filename
- file_path
- file_size
(the resource_id has a auto increment value)
so that should hopefully be straight forward when the file is uploaded. The next step is to reference the new resource_id in my module_resource table. My module resource table consists of:
- resource_id (foreign key)
- module_id (foreign key)
So, adding the module_id is easy enough as I can just get the value using Request.QueryString["module_id"]. The bit that I am unsure about is how to insert the new resource_id from the resource table into the module_resource table on file upload. How is this done? Using one table would solve the issue but I want one resource to be available to all modules - many to many relationship.
Any ideas?

I'm trying to import some data from a spreadsheet to a database table from a package in integration services. The problem is that I see the data when I open the excel file but when I try to run my package , it doesn't insert any rows in the table and it finishes with a success status.
My excel file has some formulas to get the data from other worksheets. I added a Data Viewer and all I see is null values in every cell.
I need help...does anyone know what's wrong?

Sep 7, 2007This script gets the file information for every database on a server, and inserts it into temp table #DB_INFO. #DB_INFO is queried multiple ways to give various levels of analysis of file space usage.
This script was tested on SQL Server 7.0, 2000, and 2005.

Sep 9, 2014I have enabled 1222 and 1204 trace and restarted sql server. then i have replicated deadlock in my local.
This is the error came in sql

Transaction (Process ID 51) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Then i opened ERRORLOG file , there is no information about deadlocks .
Where can found deadlock information and file path. is there any extra options required to enable trace?

How To Read File Information From Source Folder!
Mar 6, 2008I am new to SSIS and I am trying to do following thing using WMI Reader Task.
I have developed SSIS package which import data from flat files.
Now I have to add following functionality to SSIS package
Before SSIS package load data I would like to check If there are all files in source folder and check the files are with current date.
If both condition true then only load data.
After some research i found that WMI uses specialized query language known as WQL, which is similar to SQL, to obtain information on files and directories.
Also i found that Under WMI Reader Task editor properties you can write WQL query to receive file information from source folder.
Can Anyone suggest me What WQL query i have to write to retrive file information from Source folder?
Or
Any Other suggesion i should approach?

I need to add some header information to the beginning of the query:

Everything I have tried ends up as a failure, usually compile issues. My goal here is to be able to automare a configuration file for multiscript so I can keep my server list up to date.

I receive this error "Setup was unable to load the master information file' when I lanch Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components.
I was going to add ISS but recieved this error.

Oct 13, 2014I have a group of about 5 servers (which will likely grow toabout 25 in the near future) with their names listed in a table in a database on one of the servers. I want to query all servers in that table using the following query to pull the storage drive, database name, created date, age and size of the databases for each server listed in the table:
SELECT left(mf.Physical_Name,2) AS Storage_Drive,
DB_NAME(mf.database_id) AS DatabaseName,
db.create_Date,
DateDiff(day, db.create_date, getDate()) Age,
sum((mf.size*8))/1024 SizeMB

How would I best accomplish this if I want to implement it using a TSQL procedure?

I'm kinda new at programming, and am currently attempting to create a web application. I have an error when I try to insert information into a sql server database, and can't find how to fix it no matter how hard I try.
The error I get is: Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user.
I have it so a user is logged in and is shown a form to fill out, then submits it (which creates an insert statement and sends it to the database).
My connection string is as follows:
CnnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" + "data source=serverdestination;" + "User id=user;" + "Password=pass;";
If you need any more information, just let me know.

Also, over development machine, I've deployed it to SSISDB catalogue and even from there also it is running well for the same file.When the same package is deployed to production server's SSISDB catalogue database, it throws following error while processing the same sample flat file, “Unable to retrieve column information from the flat file connection manager”

I have some troubles with IBM WebSphere Application Server using MS SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver. I always get the error e.g.
java.lang.SecurityException: class "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDatabaseMetaData"'s signer information does not match signer information of other classes in the same package
I found this Feedback but it seems to be closed.
A temporary solution for me was to delete the meta-inf directory of the JAR-File, but that can't be the solution.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

On extracting ddl's for each object on a separate file in SQL Server?
Something like ddl's for:
procedure1.sql, procedure2.sql.....so on procedure100.sql
onto a file server.
Does SQL Server has any API's like Oracle's dbms_metadata?
Or can we use SQL enterprise manager to do this job?

Extracting Just The SessionID
Apr 26, 2007I am trying to extract just the session id from some iislogs, and was curious the best way to go about doing this. The session ids will all be like "ASP.NET_SessionId=1wtdqn241f0ews55n5hsipib" with 42 chars in length, however the sessionid can be anywhere in the column, sometimes by itself, sometimes at the beginning and sometimes near the end. I guess the best way to do this is search for %ASP.NET_% but im not sure how to pull just the sessionid out.
does anyone know how I should approach this or where this topic has been brought up in the forums so I could get an idea. I tried searching by instr and sessionid and few others.

Help With Extracting Info From Sql Database
May 22, 2006The situation is I need info from a certain SharePoint site that is in a sql database. The problem is The SharePoint site currently contains data from 9 different projects, all using the same database. The database is a complex setup and it would not be an easy operation to extract the special information alone. The database is run with Microsoft SQL and is comprised of 4 separate databases. 3 databases organize the data (500+mb of data total) and 1 stores the data for all the sites (12.5+GB and increasing at a rate of 100-300mb per day).
How can I get the special data I need from this setup???
