FEATURE REQUEST: Ability To Disable Clickthrough Reports (Live Links) At The Report And Export Function Level
Jul 19, 2007
Please consider enhancing SQL 2005 Reporting Services to provide the ability to disable Clickthrough Reports (Live Links) at the Report and Export Function level. Today you can only enable or disable Clickthrough Reports at the View/Model Level for all Report Builder reports.
Hello - I am having difficulty enabling the automatic click-through functionality for my model. I have two entities - Customer & Incident. Incident is a role/FK/OptionalMany relationship to customer.
I've read through earlier postings on this subject (below) and have verified that the #Incidents attribute in my incident entity has the EnableDrillThrough=true.
My test report is simple - Customer Name (from customer) and #Incidents (from incident). When I run it, the click-through option is not available (the cursor stays as an arrow and doesn't change to a finger).
Are there other properties or settings that I need to be working with? I have SP2 (9.0.3042) installed on our Standard edition of SQL 2005. I know Infinite Click-Through is not in Std edition, but a few levels should be, correct?
How do you make a live link in SQL 7 to another database? I currently do such things in Access 97 but how do you do it in SQL? I just want to keep a permanent live link to a table in another database.
My reports are not allowing me to "Clickthrough" to more detailed reports.
I want my report to automatically show a detail record when they select some "interactive data" in my reports.
I have read a page on this stuff ( http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345252.aspx ) which states:
In Report Builder, a clickthrough report is a report that provides detailed information about the data contained within the main report. A clickthrough report is displayed when the Report Builder user clicks the interactive data that appears in the main report. These reports are automatically generated by the report server. You, as the model designer, determine what is displayed in clickthrough reports by setting the DefaultDetailAttribute and DefaultAggregateAttribute properties that you assign to an entity in the report model.
Hence, within my report model i have created an entity with a number of DefaultDetailAttributes.
I have not created a specific "click through" report as i would be happy to view the automatically generated report that should contain the attributes defined in the "DefaultDetailAttributes" list.
However, when i view the report, no data items are links (or "interactive data" as the msdn article describe them).
Has anyone got any ideas on how to make the report data interactive?
In one of my environments, I need to grant the ability to view all the logins and agent jobs to an account, but I don't want to give him "sysadmin" or "securityadmin".
I'm having some difficulty linking a custome drilldown or clickthroug report to another report that I have already created in report builder. I followed a MSDN article found at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345226.aspx but I cannot find the " Select a page area, select Drill-through reports" option in report manager. Does anyone have a better explanation on how to do this? I'm assuming that when you create the clickthrough report there has to some sore of filter on it that relates to the item of the clickthrough. I guess I'm I little confused, any help would be great. Thanks.
I have a user that says that after she installed the ActiveX control for printing, that she can no longer export the reports. Has this happened to anyone else? What settings do I need to check on her machine to fix this problem?
I have an SSRS file with 2 total reports - the first is a sort of template - a matrix with about 6 varying parameters, and the second report uses the first as a subreport - ultimately, there are about 5 subreports on the second page, all using the main "template" report, with the only variance being certain parameters. The client wanted an excel file as the end result, and I decided the quickest way to populate the data they needed would be SSRS.
My problem is when I export this stuff to excel. The template report, by itself, comes out beautifully. The expand/collapse boxes on the groups are all aligned and the data just fits.
However, when I export the "combined" report, the whole thing turns to caca....
For one, subtotals are auto-magically added in for certain groups (these aren't in the main report, and they don't show render in IE, and subtotals are showing for groups where subtotals aren't even on. ) Annoying, but not major.
More importantly, the expand/collapse buttons for the matrix groupings seem to align to the top, and not the actual row of the grouping. So, if I wanted to expand the data on say, row 11, the '+' button is actually on the previous row (row 110). This is the real showstopper and just not acceptable on a usability level.
Again - the only difference between the two spreadsheets is that one is its own report, and the second one renders the same report from a subreport. On IE it looks identical. Any reason why simply using a sub would cause such drastic differences in excel appearance??
We use NLB + ISA , Win2003/SP1 + Reporting Services 2005
We use host name URL to access Reporting Serives reports, like http://www.hostname.com/Reportserver?rc%3aParameters=false&%2MyReports%2f....
When reports have grouping , the drill down images(+/-) and links failed to be displayed. We checked the HTML source code and found, instead of the reative path, the image/link URLs are using FULL path and using IP address, like http://10.102.40.55/Reportserver/.....
Because the company policy do not allow use IP to access reports , those drill down images and links failed to be displayed.
How can I configure Reporting Service to use host name or relative path for the drill down images and links.
PS:
We have changed the <UrlRoot> in rsreportserver.config and <ReportServerUrl> in rsWebApplication.config to use host name, but no worked.
I am trying to get this to work - but it only returns minutes & seconds:
Function Seconds2mmss(ByVal seconds As Integer) As String Dim ss As Integer = seconds Mod 60 Dim mm As Integer = (seconds - ss) / 60 Seconds2mmss = String.Format("{0:0}:{1:00}", mm, ss) End Function
Can anyone help me out? I am not that familiar with VB.
After exporting a RS report to PDF the links(Jump to Report) are removed. Is there anyway to keep the links?
We moved to reporting services about a year ago and have been migrating reportings from our old platform webfocus which when we exported to PDF would retain the links.
Hi, A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) I am using a direct connection from my Gridview to perform a huge database search. the stored procedure will take 10- 60 seconds to execute the query.
What the problem i am facing is when the sp takes long time (more than 1 minutes), then when i try any other operation like calling another sp frm another page, i am getting the above specified error.
I am new to SQL 2005. I have one issue and it is as follows:
I write a simple query and run it; it works fine.
Now I break the network connection and run the query; in this case it runs fine.
But when I reconnect the network and run the query, then I get an error as follows:
"A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - An unexpected network error occurred.) "
Every thing is local here. So how the network issue comes here?
I've tried to search on the web for a solution for this error but i didn't find any working solutions for this problem. We have 2 servers. The first one is the server we use to develop our ASP.NET 2 application. On this server we don't have this error. On the other server (use by our client) we have this error sometime and i don't know why. Both servers have the same configuration and both application have the same web.config file.
I've tried to add a try-catch and retry the query when the error occured. This seems to be working but we don't want to have to change all our connections and since we don't have this problem on the other server we want to find the source of the problem.
Hello, I am making a web application and I will show reports with the reportviewer, however the user can manage some parameters of the applicacion, the administrator can decide if he wants to allow the user to export or not export to PDF or XLS.
Anyway, I want to enable or disable those options in the reportview dinamically!
Hello, Besides the one in the subscriptions where you tick a checkbox to include the report link, I would just like to ask if its possible to get the link of a report from the report server and add it in another report as reference?
Like for example, I have report A. If i tick the checkbox of Link in the subscription of the report, the server will send the report with the report link in the bottom of the report.
Now I have report B, and I would like to show report A link in that report.
Please advice if this is possible.. We have too many reports to just hard code every single report link in one report..
We have an asp application that runs the reportserver URL for the selected report, passing it through parameters. This opens the report viewer and the report runs.
The problem im having is that one report is not working as expected. When the report is run from report manager, everything works fine. The links do what they're meant to (they link to other reports passing through parameters). When the report is run from our asp application with the report viewer, the links fail.... they dont pass through the correct values or sometimes dont pass through a value at all.
Were the report viewer and report manager applications developed seperately?
In SSRS 2005, is there any way to programatically turn off a Jump To Report link. i.e. set Hyperlink action to none through code. Also is there any way to remove all links upon exporting to excel.
Hi, i am using Vista and iis6. Evertything seems to be configured ok, but when i try to open this url: http://localhost/Reports/ i get the following error:
Server Error in '/Reports' Application.
Request is not available in this context this error is when Report directory is set for "DefaultAppPool", but in "ClassicAppPool" i get another error:
Error
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.
Hi, I have setup reportserver with default settings (non https) and afterwards in IIS added a certificate and https support. Know I am able to work really well and secure over the internet, but some links in report manager pointing to http://server.domain.com/reports instead of https: For example if i call a report and then in the top there are (view, properties,...) - View is HTTPS - Properties is HTTPS - History is HTTP - Subscription is HTTP
I have read some articles - mentions I should configure https, but - in Report Configuration you could not setup HTTPS - in rsreportserver.config i have entered the https link version but did not change anything - in RSWebApplication.config the Reportserverurltag is blank - so i did not change anything
I am using SQL Server Reporting. All reports are deployed on REPORTING SERVER. I want to implement security roles as same as in Active directory. Currently reports are being accessed using Anonymous user setting in IIS. I have added users in SQL Server security as well as data base level. But when user accesses report following error occurs: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized
Please reply with solution as soon as possible. I will be very thankful to you
Currently - our Reporting Services site is setup so that all Domain Users can access it. We are starting to use Report Builder now. I have enabled the My Reports folder feature that that creates a user folder for anyone that logs onto the site. Is there a way to just create the user folders for certain people?
Hi! I am having a terrible time with the report feature. First of all, my queries through it do not match my queries thru SQL server 2005 Express Management. When I enter my fields, through the auto query function, it moves them. When I try to put them where I think they belong (by editing the SQL code, my queries get all messed up).
Is there a way to import my SQL query and run it through the report feature?
I am using windows XP Pro Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 version 8.0.50727.42 Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers version 9.00.2047.00
I have a report which runs in local mode and while designing the report I have placed a single image control inside the list box as I don't know before hand how many images are there :
What is the way to show all the images using the one image control inside the report viewer control. ? Can be 2 or 3 or 4.....
I have requirement to cache report server as soon as data get refreshed in datbase. My database get refreshed every 10 minutes. I am working in stock and bond domain were data changes very frequently. My user want to see almost live data whenever accessing report in report manager.they also want to cache some data for better performance. Can any one tell me step's to improve performance of reporting services . Kindly suggest me.
I have a BI Reporting scenario, wherein i have to fetch Reports from analysis Services. when the user tries to access a report, he should be validated uisng the Windows Authentication ID, and only data specific to that user should be display. I am not sure if this user authentication is to be done on analysis Services/reporting services.
Any suggestions/pointers would be highly appreciated.
Can somebody explain the process for implementing Item-Level security for reports? My requirement is as follows:
I have some reports pertaining to a specific department, where in I deployed them to a specific folder on Reporting Services. Now I need to give exclusive read access to those reports for the users in that department. They should not be able to create any folders / new reports etc.
The steps I have followed:
1. Deployed the reports from VS 2005 to a specific folder called "TheirReports" and in this I placed the Data source also as a seperate folder.
2. I clicked on Site Settings in Report Manager and then clicked on Configure Item-Level role definitions.
3. Clicked on New Role and gave a name as ReportsBrowser and checked the options --> "View Data sources / View folders / View reports / View resources"
4. Now I went back to the specific folder and clicked on Properties -> Security -> New Role Assignment.
5. Added the necessary users binding them to ReportsBroser role.
When I'm checking from the user machine, they are able to create new folders etc.
does RS allow a report to be built such that after user runs it, hovering over a particular piece of info could display some variable piece of info similar to tooltips, intellisense etc?
How about a tip to the user if he/she hovers over a parameter prompt?
