Is there any way (reg key entery ????) for the password to be saved so the user is not prompted?

I am using the IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries IBMDASQL OLE DB Provider to import data via query (in a tranformation task) to a SQL2000 server within a DTS package.
Works great! However, the provider does not save my (iSeries) password although I choose this option. I really need the password to be saved so that I can schedule the DTS package... I don't want to have to login and run the package each time (even IT guys take vacations). Or at least I don't want to have to login everytime the server is restarted...
Has anyone run accross this and found a solution?

I am using the IBM DB2 UDB for iSeries IBMDASQL OLE DB Provider to import data via query (in a tranformation task) to a SQL 2000 server within a DTS package.
Works great! However, the DTS package(?) does not save my (iSeries) password although I choose this option. I really need the password to be saved so that I can schedule the DTS package... I don't want to have to login and run the package each time (even IT guys take vacations). Or at least I don't want to have to login everytime the server is restarted...
Perhaps I am ignorant, but, I can not find any configuration setting within DTS that will allow me to save the password for the IBMDASQL OLE DB provider. Nor have I been able to find a suitable solution to this by using the keywords search string of "package configuration" within the MSDN forums.
As a workaround, I can use the an ODBC connection along with a DSN file to save the username and password. However, I do not want this information sitting out there in plain text. I would like to use the OLE DB provider and store the username and password on the SQL server as the properties dialog says that I should be able to. Or I can define a UDL (still text file).[Or I can use an ODBC connection set up as a system DSN - I want to use the OLE DB provider]
I've read about adding a connection string to .Net's machine.config file - but, I do not want to use the .NET OLE DB provider and, again, I do not wish to store username and password information in plain text.
Is this a bug in as much as how SQL Server 2000 uses the IBMDASQL OLE DB provider?
I've called and spoke to an IBM tech in regard to this and was informed that the dialog box and error regarding the password are not IBM generated, but rather MS generated.
I hope that there is a solution to my problem.
Has anyone run accross this and found a solution?

Integration Services :: Saving Connection Manager Password Permanently
May 13, 2015User A creates the SSIS Package and provides the password for the connection manager for a task (for OLE DB source) with SQL authentication.
When User B tries to run the SSIS package, the error is thrown as : The package may be damaged.
On typing the password again inside the connection manager, the execution occurs successfully. Is there any workaround to save the password permamanently for the connection manager rather than each user entering it in order to run the package ?
Able To Run Packages Outside Designer, But Not One Containing FTP Task
Nov 11, 2006Hi. I have read most of the threads on not being able to run packages outside the Designer, in Agent. I believe my problem is different:
I am able to run some packages with Agent. In fact, we have a couple scheduled and running every night.
However, when we try to run a package that contains an FTP task it only runs in debug mode. If we import it into our server or run it without debugging it keeps failing and giving us the now famous:
The task...... cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition.
So, we have some packages already scheduled and running, but we can't run this specific package with the FTP task. We (two of us) have created this package in the same way we created the other ones. We have created different versions to see if one gets a hit, with no success.
Any thoughts would be greately appreciated.

Trouble Saving XML Output From SQL Task
Sep 7, 2007I am learning SSIS, and am trying to save the XML output from a SQL task executing a stored procedure. I need to either save it to a .xml file, then FTP the .xml file to an external server, or do the reverse (FTP, then save file.) I can't get past the SQL task so that it works with the File System Task, or the FTP task.

Leaving the ResultSet = XML, and changing the SSIS variable as Object, the Progress is
" [Execute SQL Task] Error: There is an invalid number of result bindings returned for the ResultSetType: "ResultSetType_XML".
Changing the ResultSet back to None, but leaving the variable as Object, the SQL task will successfully execute, but the File System Task with IsSourcePathVariable = True and SourceVariable = User::HRGSpaces when executed errors out with
"[File System Task] Error: Variable "HRGSpaces" is not a string. Error: There were errors during task validation. Validation is completed. Warning: SSIS Warning Code DTS_W_MAXIMUMERRORCOUNTREACHED. The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (3) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors.
So, how to I resolve the Object vs String definition. Any help in getting beyond this is appreciated!
Custom Task Not Updating Property Values Or Saving.
May 2, 2008Hi Folks,
I have a task I wrote which does not always update the property value (as seen in the properties pane)
Basically, change something on the form, then update the task host property with:
this.taskHostValue.Properties["Duration"].SetValue(this.taskHostValue, Convert.ToInt32(spnDuration.Value));
Stepping through this, it does exactly what it is supposed to. Having a look at the property value, it confirms it has changed.
Reopening the UI and resetting all the controls returns the expected results.
The package however does not realise it has changed. There is no * next to the package name in the top tabs.
As long as the package thinks it is unchanged, SaveXML does not get called either so the tasks do not persist.
Changing the value on the properties pane works fine though.
The frustrating thing is this is slightly random. Slight in the sense that sometimes it works but most of the time it does not.
The sample code I used was the MS download IncrementTask (Which works BTW) so I can't see it as being a VS / SSIS bug but rather something I am / am not doing. 3 tasks I have written all behave the same. I have to "nudge" them before savign the package.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

DTS Designer Task: Copy Server Objects. What User Permissions Required?
Nov 6, 2006I'm making a copy of some tanles between 2 servers.
Server 1 requires a sql login
Server 2 is using Windows Auth.
I have a user on server 1 named "odbc" able to log in.
however my copy task fails, when I drill the error, it's lists the first user in server 1 alphabetically as the failed login???? but in my dts I am specifying the "odbc" user and password.
I think I have a permissions problem on server 1. So my Question, what minimum permissions does user "odbc" need to copy a table?
On server 1 I can copy from northwind to server 2 just fine..but any other db on server 1 causes the weird failure with the wrong username.
Any Ideas? I am not a DBA obviously :)

2) Since I have hundreds of Resulting columns, I want to create the Destination table based on the structure of the dataset.

Jun 14, 2006While Creating a script task in Control Flow, I am getting "Package Validation Error". Here is the complete message:
Error at Validate File and Load Data: The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Task Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated.
(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)
As mentioned in the message, I opened the script IDE and added the code I need. When I close the VSA IDE, package designer displays the same error message.
The worst part of whole story is that if I close the package designer and reopen it, I find that all the code I wrote in the script task has been deleted by the package designer. This is not at all acceptable as I saved the package the and still lost all my work. I did all the coding from scratch for that task.
Please respond if anyone faced similar problem.

Oct 16, 2015I have created a FTP task in SSIS to upload file to the server. Due to some policy issues we do not have the actual password with us. we have been provided with a encrypted password. Hence I am not able to connect to the server through the FTP task connection manager. Is there a way to connect to the server and send file using the encrypted password, so that we don't require the actual password to run the process successfully?

Execute Package Task Error: Failed To Decrypt Protected XML Node DTS:Password
Jun 20, 2006I have a package (PackageA) with an Execute Package Task that execs PackageB. When I run PackageA I get this error on the Execute Package Task :
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
PackageB has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel. I'm providing passwords in the dtsConfig so I'm guessing I should change it to 'DontSaveSensitive'?
Interestingly, PackageA also has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel, but I don't get an error about PackageA, just on the task that runs PackageB.
(SP1 is installed).

Apr 1, 2008I have a package protected by a password - I am already unhappy that to get it to use the configuration file to change connection strings for the production servers I have had to hardcode the password into the config file - very insecure!
However, the package now deploys correctly to the production server and will run from there OK, but NOT if scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job. Thus is because however often I edit the command line to include the password after the DECRYPT switch (which it has prompted me for when I click on the command line tab), the Job Step will not retain it.
If I open it up after I have edited it and closed it, the password has disappeared.
I know that if I run dtexec plus the code in the Command Line tab (with the password), the package runs OK.
This is driving me insane!
I have read all the other posts and so I tried replacing the SSIS package step with a CmdExec step and pasting that code into there - then I get an OLEDB error..
The code I use is:

SQL 2005 SP2 - Windows 2003 Ent SP1 - Password Does Not Meet The Password Policy DLL
Jun 18, 2007I am receiving the following error message when attempting to create a new SQL Authenticated login id.
Password validation failed. The password does not meet the requirements of the password filter DLL. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15119)
I have four servers all running SQL Server 2005 SP2 on Windows 2003 Ent. SP1. Of the four servers, only one received the above error message using the same TSQL below.
CREATE LOGIN TEST_LOGIN WITH PASSWORD = 'pvif9dal' MUST_CHANGE, CHECK_EXPIRATION = ON
All four servers are in the same domain, which if I understand correctly, the password policies are therefore inherited at the OS level by the domain. The password being used is within the password policies of the domain.
Any ideas as to a root cause?

Send Mail Task Problem Using A Combination Of ForEach Loop, Recordset Destination, Execute SQL Task And Script Task
Jun 21, 2007OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...
I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.
I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.
I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.
I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).
The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.

My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.

Remember My Password Is Forgetting Password
Mar 11, 2008On the login prompt for Report Server, there is a checkbox option to "Remember my Password." I check this, login successfully... but when returning to the Report Server, I am again prompted for the password, although the user name is saved. No matter how many times I do this, the password will not save in IE7. I have tried this on 3 different computers with IE7. In IE 6, I do not even get the checkbox as an option, just the user name/password prompt. In Firefox, the password saves fine. Any ideas what would be causing this?

Equivalent To MySQL's Password() Function? (was MySQL To SQL Server And Password())
Mar 3, 2005I have an internal Project Management and Scheduling app that I wrote internally for my company. It was written to use MySQL running on a Debian server, but I am going to move it to SQL Server 2000 and integrate it with our Accounting software. The part I am having trouble with is the user login portion. I previously used this:

Apparently the password() function is not available when accessing SQL Server via ODBC. Is there an equivalent function I could use isntead so the passwords arent plaintext in the database? I only have 15 people using the system so a blank pwd reset wouldn't be too much trouble.
DTS Designer Error
May 31, 2001Hello everybody!
I've already posted this question before but this error never been resolved.
My DTS designer is totally screwed.
When trying to create new local package getting error message "Could not create Component Categories Manager".
I can't even use DTS to copy data in using DTS wizard.
Somebody recommended to reinstall SQL Server which I did but it didn't solve my problem.
Any other suggestions?

Oct 5, 2001Does any one know of a way that a group of my developers can use this without giving them access to the rest of Enterprise manager?
Want to give them access to write queries and they are all Access developers so that I have to do as little training as possible then letting them have Query designer would keep them in their nice little world without hassing me to much.

DTS Designer Error
Dec 1, 2000When using Enterprise Mgr on a workstation connected to a MSSQL Server, if I attempt to start a new DTS Package, I get the following msg:

Text : Could not create Component Categories Manager
I get the same msg when trying to edit an existing package. I tried to re-register Dtspkg.dll,Dtsui.dll, and dtsffile.dll. All were successful but Dtspkg.dll, which failed. Does anyone know what causes this, and what else I can try?

May 20, 2008I'm fairly new to Proclarity and I'm using 6.3. I just have desktop professional and we still don't have proclarity analytical server installed yet. I would like to work around with KPI Designer, how am I able to install it. Does it come with extra components and needs to be installed from the installation CD?
