Failed To Load Expression Host Assembly. Details: The Type Initializer For 'CableReporting.Utilities' Threw An Exception
Sep 18, 2007
Hi
I am using sql reporting service 2005 with .NET 2.0.
I have created a custom dll file for report and put this dll in appropriate folder.
Report is running fine in designer project.
but when I am trying to view this report after uploading to report manager it give me an error like
Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: The type initializer for 'CableReporting.Utilities' threw an exception. (rsErrorLoadingExprHostAssembly)Is there any solution for that?
I previously had an ASP.NET 1.1 site running on my IIS 6.0 server (not the default website) with Reporting Services running in a subdirectory of that website. I recently upgraded to ASP.NET 2.0 for my website and was greeted with an error when trying to view a report. The error was very non-descript, but when I checked the server logs, it recorded the details as "It is not possible to run two different versions of ASP.NET in the same IIS process. Please use the IIS Administration Tool to reconfigure your server to run the application in a separate process."
First of all, I could not figure out where and how to do this. Secondly, I decided to try to also change the Reporting Services folders to run ASP.NET 2.0 and when I did, I was greeted with the following message when attempting to view a report:
"Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: StrongName cannot have an empty string for the assembly name."
I have VS2003 and VS2005 installed as well as SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 Tools. I have RS2000 and RS2005 installed. RS2000 works fine in VS2003. When using VS2005 and opening a Microsoft sample project for 2005, I get the error listed in the subject line.
When trying to create a new project and connecting to an Oracle database or a SQL Server 2005 database, I get the following error: "A connection cannot be made to the database. Set and check the connection string." The connection works fine when the test button is clicked, but fails when continuing in the wizard.
Any suggestions. We are trying to migrate from RS2000 to RS2005 and nothing in 2005 works.
When running the package in VisualStudio it runs properly, but if I let this package run as part of an SQL-Server Agent job, I got the message "The script threw an exception: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown." on my log and the package ends up with an error.
Both times it is exactly the same package on the same server, so I don't know how the debug or even if there is anything I need to debug?
Greetings everyone, I am attempting to build my first application using Microsofts Sql databases. It is a Windows Mobile application so I am using Sql Server Compact 3.5 with Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2. When I try and insert a new row into one of my tables, the app throws the error message shown in the title of this topic. '((System.Exception)($exception)).Message' threw an exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException'
My table has 4 columns (i have since changed my FavoriteAccount datatype from bit to Integer) http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/table.jpg
Account type will either be "Checking" or "Savings" when a new row is added, the user will select what they want from a combo box.
Next is a snap shot of my startup form. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k71/Scionwest/form.jpg
Where it says "Favorite Account: None" in the top panel, I am using a link label. When a user clicks "None" it will go to a account creation wizard, and set the first account as it's primary/favorite. As more accounts are added the user can select which will be his/her primary/favorite. For now I am just creating a sample account when the label is clicked in an attempt to get something working. Below is the code used.
account.FavoriteAccount = 1;//datatype is an integer, I have changed it since I took the screenshot.
financesDataSet.BankAccount.Rows.Add(account); //The next three lines where added while I was trying to get this to work. //I don't know if I really need them or not, I receive the error regardless if these are here or not.
catch (global:ystem.InvalidCastException e) { //Stops at the following line, this error was caused by 'if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)'
throw new global:ystem.Data.StrongTypingException("The value for column 'FavoriteAccount' in table 'BankAccount' is DBNull.", e);
I have no idea what I am doing wrong, all of the code I used I retreived from Microsofts help documentation included with VS2008. I have tried used my TableAdapter.Insert() method and it still failed when it got to
if (this.financesDataSet.BankAccount[num].FavoriteAccount == 1)
in my refreshDatabase() method it still failed.
When I look, the data has been added into the database, it's just when I try to retreive it now, it bails on me. Am I retreiving the information wrong?
My SqlConnection is causing an error "sqlConn.ServerVersion threw an exception of type System.InvalidOperationException". Everything I have read seems to suggest that there is a problem with my SQLConnection parameters but as you can see from the commeted code below I have tried three different servers with four different configurations. I am out of ideas on what is causing the error. Thanks - Amy Here is a section of my code: String sqlStmt = "Select [UserName], [Password], [Last], [First] from Contacts Where Login=@Uid AND Password=@Pwd"; SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=test;Integrated Security=SSPI;");//SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=pe2800;Initial Catalog=test;Integrated Security=SSPI;");//SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=HorizonDC02;Initial Catalog=test;Integrated Security=SSPI;");//SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=HorizonDC02;Initial Catalog=test;User ID=username;Password=password;"); SqlCommand sqlCmd = new SqlCommand(sqlStmt, sqlConn);sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Uid", SqlDbType.VarChar, 30).Value = uid;sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Pwd", SqlDbType.VarChar, 30).Value = pwd;sqlCmd.Connection.Open();
The VB code was complied into a DLL called totalmem.dll and call following TSQL to map it into a SQL function:
create assembly totalmem from '!WORKINGDIR! otalmem.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET=UNSAFE
go
create function fnGetTotalMem()
returns int
as external name totalmem.SqlClrVB.GetTotalPhysicalMemory
go
When I call this function, it returned following error:
select dbo.fnGetTotalMem()
Msg 6522, Level 16, State 2, Line 0
A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'fnGetTotalMem':

Anyone knows why I'm hitting this error? I didn't reference any System.Web interface why it needs to load System.Web assembly? The same code runs OK if I compile it as a separate VB application out side of SQL Server 2005.
I have a very simple SSIS package which I execute from VB.NET using the ManagedDTS namespace objects. I am getting a very sporadic error saying "The script threw an exception. Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
All the package does is insert rows from a filename that I pass into the package from code, and then rename the file in a script task. The script task is what is causing this error. If I remove/disable the script task the package executes everytime without error. I have even commented out all the code that might throw an exception and it still fails atleast 3 out of 10 times. Here is my code in the script task:
'CreateControlFile(strFileName, strDestination, e) End Sub
NOTE: I never get a package FAILURE as I would if it got into the CATCH block. I believe this is an error being generated from the Package processing engine.
Here is some output from the VB.NET application debug window:
This output's once for every "exception" thrown by each package execution.
A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in VBAssembly
A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in VBAssembly

Here is the code I use to execute the package:

Dim bReturn As Boolean = False
Dim pkg As New Package
Dim app As New Application
Dim result As DTSExecResult = DTSExecResult.Failure

I need to refresh my cube daily and once this processed is done, i will update in ETL table with lastcubeprocessedtime in my timestamp column. Actually i am using IBM db2 provider since my ETL table resides in IBM DB2 source.
In my first task i am using script task where i will check whether my timestamp column value is NULL or not.
I am getting error like "The script threw an exception : keyword not supported: 'network port'." when this script task executes.
Moreover i am getting another error like "The execution succeeded, but the number of error raised(1) reached the maximum allowed(1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number of specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix this errors." For this error i have changed MaximumErrorCount value from 1 to 100 in dataflow task.
Can anyone tell me what might be the problem for these two errors?
I have an assembly, call it A1, that I've deployed to a SQL Server 2005 database. I can use the managed stored procedures from A1 in SQL Server no problem.
In A1 there is a bit of code which uses the Assembly.Load() method, so load another assembly and use instances of class found in that external assembly. However, when I run the managed stored proc in A1 that uses Assembly.Load() I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'A1, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken='????' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
(note: for security I've changed some of the above line).
I re-built the project, re-deployed it and ran the code in SQL Server - it worked. I could create an instance of a System.Data.DataSet for example. So why can't I load my own custom assembly? My assembly does have a strong name and it's installed in the GAC. I wrote a console app to try and Assembly.Load() my custom assembly and that worked fine (it was also running on the same server as the SQL Server).
So it's defiantely the SQL Server that can't 'see' my customer assembly. What do I need to do this assembly so that SQL Server will allow me to Assembly.Load it, just as it can with System.Data?
I am trying to make a mobile application work, but I get the following error. The operating system on Pocket PC is Microsoft® Windows Mobile„¢ 2003 Second Edition. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I have been encountering a problem using a CLR Assembly in SQL server. The Assembly is one provided by Microsoft for an example on using Exchange web services with SQL server.
Essentially what this package is, is a set of c# classes that access the Exchange 2007 Web Services via a set of user defined functions and views in MS SQL Server 2005.
We have not modified the code except to configure for our host environment.
We are able to register the assembly using the setup.sql file included. But when we try to access any of the views or use the functions we get the following error:
Msg 10314, Level 16, State 11, Line 10
An error occurred in the Microsoft .NET Framework while trying to load assembly id 65551. The server may be running out of resources, or the assembly may not be trusted with PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS or UNSAFE. Run the query again, or check documentation to see how to solve the assembly trust issues. For more information about this error:

We have 3 testing environments. 2 Windows 2003 servers called test and test2. Also a single Windows 2000 server called test3. Test and test2 have a full suite installed on them, web server, exchange 2007, sql server 2005, they are also domain controllers for their own domains.
We get the above error on test and test2 but it runs fine on test3. Test and test2 represent what our production environment is like. Test3 was just part of our troubleshooting process.
We have tried a lot to make this work. Here are some details on the things we have tried.
The database is set up to allow CLR Assemblies. This is part of the setup.sql.
The assembly's permission is set to external_access.
We have gone all the way to setting the file permissions on the dll to full control to the Everyone group.
We have tried different accounts to run the SQL Service. We've tried the system account, the local admin account and a seperate user account.
The database we are using is a fresh brand new database. Therefore it does not fit into the bug reported in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918040
I am really at a loss to where to go from here. Any ideas on why this 'out of the box' solution is causing us so many headaches would be appriciated.
I had noticed that certain expressions won't work in details. Is this true ? when I tried using an IIF expression, I always get a blank or an empty field even if it was a text. could someone clarify this ? I don't know whether it is just me or is it a limitation.
I try backup database but this error message pop up: could not load file or assembly 'SqlManagerUi, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken= 89845dcd 8080cc91' oe one of its dependencies. Method signature has invalid calling convention. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131239)(mscorlib)
I am receiving the following message when I try to create an SSIS project in Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite:

I have downloaded the project from http://mattberseth.com/blog/2007/10/theming_the_ajaxcontroltoolkit.html. When i built and run athe application i get the error

This happens whenever I press "Test Connection" button in the Connection Manager dialog. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the installation of the .NET Framework. I'm using a new machine and so far I havent had any problem with .NET applications. Do I need to add this assembly somewhere?
I have deployed an MVC web app/SSAS database to our PROD machine and receive the following error:

I have also tried installing the SQL_AS_ADOMD.msi from: URL....
I'm in the process of migrating several SQL Server 2000 DTS packages to Integration Services packages. One of the old 2000 DTS packages used the SQLXML Bulk Loader component. In order to use the new SQLXML 4 COM object in my Script Task (to initiate the Bulk Loader using .NET code) I've used the tlbimp.exe tool to create a .NET wrapper DLL. I've placed the DLL in the appropriate directory (C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90SDKAssemblies), successfully added it to my project (with Intellisense working), but when I run the package it fails with the following error:
Could not load file or assembly 'SQLXMLBULKLOADLib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Note: I also tried placing the DLL in C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 with no prevail.
I've confirm the file exists (and any dependencies) in their appropriate locations. Has anyone else run into this? Any help is much appreciated.
Hi, I have a custom library (ReportLibary.dll) and ı added it as a reference to the report (Report.rdl). I also copied the dll file to ..IDEPrivateAssemblies. The report uses a methot from the dll to get some data. When ı run the report from my local computer there is no problem, the data is generated from the dll. But when I depoy it to the sever an exception occurs.
"Error while loading code module: €˜ReportLibary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null€™. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'ReportLibary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. Can not find the file. d:...Report.rdl"
I hope ı can find a solution to my problem. Thanks in advance.
Is it possible to load an assembly either from a byte array or from the disk at runtime from a CLR stored procedure.
I have created a stored procedure that needs to load different assemblies depending on a query and then invokes a method (called execute() passing a string query as a parameter).
From debugging the CLR stored procedure in .NET I have found that it is this line that creates an error:
Assembly myAssembly= Assembly.Load()
It doesnt matter if I attempt to load the assembly from it's byte array or from a file location, it always gives the following error:
Msg 6522, Level 16, State 1, Procedure runQuery, Line 0A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user defined routine or aggregate 'runQuery': System.IO.FileLoadException: LoadFrom(), LoadFile(), Load(byte[]) and LoadModule() have been disabled by the host.System.IO.FileLoadException: at System.Reflection.Assembly.nLoadImage(Byte[] rawAssembly, Byte[] rawSymbolStore, Evidence evidence, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean fIntrospection) at System.Reflection.Assembly.Load(Byte[] rawAssembly) at ClientInterface.RunInterface(String queryName, String parameters, String& returnValue)
It works perfectly if I run it using a mock up front end app it just seems to be sql server that doesnt like it.
This is nutty. I never got this error on my local machine. The only lower case m in the sql is by near the variable Ratingsum like in line 59. The resolver is register in the GAC. I checked with sp_enumcustomresolvers that it is register in SQL. The sync is working fine if I'm not using the resolver.
Here's the code of the resolver:

Here's the SQL query to register the resolver:
DECLARE @publication AS sysname; DECLARE @article AS sysname; DECLARE @friendlyname AS sysname; DECLARE @assembly AS nvarchar(500); DECLARE @class AS sysname; SET @publication = N'memb'; SET @article = N'memb'; SET @friendlyname = N'TestConlictResolver'; SET @assembly = N'C:shareConflictHandler.dll'; SET @class = N'HQ.MemberHandler'; -- Register the business logic handler at the Distributor. EXEC sys.sp_registercustomresolver @article_resolver = @friendlyname, @resolver_clsid = NULL, @is_dotnet_assembly = N'true', @dotnet_assembly_name = @assembly, @dotnet_class_name = @class; -- Add an article that uses the business logic handler -- at the Publisher. EXEC sp_changemergearticle @publication = @publication, @article = @article, @property = N'article_resolver', @value = @friendlyname, @force_invalidate_snapshot = 0, @force_reinit_subscription = 0; GO
I am getting the following error when executing a CLR stored procedure. I have set generate serialization assembly to 'ON' with no effect. The error is:
System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot load dynamically generated serialization assembly. In some hosting environments assembly load functionality is restricted, consider using pre-generated serializer. Please see inner exception for more information. ---> System.IO.FileLoadException: LoadFrom(), LoadFile(), Load(byte[]) and LoadModule() have been disabled by the host.
I have an application broadly deployed (about 10 computers). As of yesterday, two of these computers are unable to start the application, and failing with the error below. All other computers run the application just fine.
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'ADODB, Version=7.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'ADODB, Version=7.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'
I checked and ADODB.dll version 7.0.3300.0 is in the GAC in the deployment target machines.
I find ADODB.dll in my C:Program FilesMicrosoft.NETPrimary Interop Assemblies folder (development computer), but this is version 7.10.3077.0 (file properties version)
I see ADODB.dll as a project reference, but this shows version 7.0.3300.0, and shows the path to the PIA folder. I have no clue why these are not showing the same version number. Local Copy is false.
Installing MDAC 2.8 on the failing deployment target machines did not help.
I have developed an application in C#, and it uses both a SQL server database, and as part of its operation it opens up a Foxpro database. I am using Odbc to connect to the fox pro database and everything wortks just fine on my devleopment machine. However when I deploy my application I am getting the following error text when ever I create the form that does the Odbc work.
************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Data.Odbc, Version=1.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'Microsoft.Data.Odbc, Version=1.0.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'
I have absolutely no clue why I am getting this error. I have insured that the latest MDAC was installed ( it is XP Pro so no updates there ) I have made sure that I have the latest Fox Pro Odbc driver installed as well and I can create the DSN just fine.
Can anyone point me where to look next ? Im truly stumped here.
I am trying to use SQL Mobile 2005 with Visual Studio 2005. I have a simple sql mobile db i created and am trying to test connectivity to the DB in a simple app. I added the reference to the SqlServerCE and the verison # that is shown in properties is 3.0.3600.0, but when i look at the physical DLL in explorer (found at C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev3.0) the version # is 3.0.5206.0, so when i compile and run the test, I get :
