We have a SSIS project where we load lot of image files using an OLE DB Source component and put it across the database as varbinary into OLEDB Destination component.
Things were fine until now where am getting an error like this. alongside the log also reads like,
There is not enough space on the disk. Long data was retrieved and can't be added to the data flow task buffer.
Is this method of loading the files using an OleDb Souce not the efficient one ? If not is there a way I can get this done. Comments are highly appreciated!!
We are trying to import data into SQL Server 2005 from MySQL 5.0.x using DTS Wizard via MySQLOLE DB Provider developed by Cherry City Software .
We can read BLOB data from MySQL via ADO 2.7 and ADO.NET 2.0. We can also use DTS Wizard to read the data on Preview. For the test, we defined a table as tBlob (lText VARCHAR(9000)) and inserted one record with a few characters. However, DTS Wizard always fails at the executing step with the following error messages:
Error 0xc0202009: Data Flow Task: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0208265: Data Flow Task: Failed to retrieve long data for column "lText". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc020901c: Data Flow Task: There was an error with output column "lText" (17) on output "OLE DB Source Output" (11). The column status returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0209029: Data Flow Task: The "output column "lText" (17)" failed because error code 0xC0209071 occurred, and the error row disposition on "output column "lText" (17)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0047038: Data Flow Task: The PrimeOutput method on component "Source - tblob" (1) returned error code 0xC0209029. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0047021: Data Flow Task: Thread "SourceThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047038. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0047039: Data Flow Task: Thread "WorkThread0" received a shutdown signal and is terminating. The user requested a shutdown, or an error in another thread is causing the pipeline to shutdown. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Error 0xc0047021: Data Flow Task: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0047039. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
This could be a defect in the DTS Wizard. How do we workaround this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to load data into a SQL Server table through a web page. I am getting error like this:
Error: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.)
I am doing the same for other tables in the same db its working fine. but its working for one table alone. The table name is like this (DTD_PUMA_DeliveryPerformance)
Is it cos of table name???
I tried with import/export wizard also its working fine but still its not working for web page.
I don t think its cos of network or OS!! Its with table or some connection property.Pls help me in solving this.
I´m trying to connect to a integration service hosted in a different machine, but I recive the following message:
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum) : access denied
I verified and the service that machine is running, maybe could be the user, I´m using windows authentication, I have no problems when I log in in the databse engine.
First up - my apologies if this is not the right forum for this question. Please let me know if there is a more appropriate one for this question.
I have come across an issue with my SQL Server 2005 Express Edition install. It has been running fine since the install (a few months back). And I can still interact (query, update etc) the databases just fine. However, SQL Management Server Studio Express has started to produce an error message when I attempt to connect the Object Explorer.
The error message is shown below.
I have tried to access the link shown in the error message but there is no information provided there.
I can use SQL Management Server Studio Express to run queries on the databases so it would appear that the underlying services are all running OK.
The SQL Server is installed using SQL Authentication only and I have not made any changes to Service accounts or the services themselves. The protocols all appear to be in order too - Shared Memory, Named Pipes, TCP/IP are all enabled.
I have restarted the SQL services and even rebooted the machine, but to no avail.
I would really appreciate if anyone out there could give me some guidance on what may be causing this issue.
Note: The SQL Server is installed on WinXP Pro SP2 running in a VirtualPC. All apps are release versions (no beta or CTP)

What would be the most efficient method of constructing a sql statement to retrieve certain record into (this gets tricky) rows of a table with 3 columns date.desc.
I have two versions of "rsk.txt" one with 1.9mill rows and one with the first 2000 rows only. The files have one column only with 115 characters that I'll split in to several columns later using SUBSTRING. The one with 2000 rows fires in to the database with no problems whatsoever using this exact code, the other one throws the following error:
Server: Msg 4866, Level 17, State 66, Line 1 Bulk Insert fails. Column is too long in the data file for row 1, column 1. Make sure the field terminator and row terminator are specified correctly.
How can I resolve this problem?
EDIT: I tried several different row- and fieldterminators but this exact one works for the small data-file so I assume it should also work for the large one...the large one is however copyed directly using binary ftp from a unix-filesystem and the small one is manually copied into a new txt-file using UltraEdit.
I am trying to set up a data flow task. The source is "SQL Command" which is a stored procedure. The proc has a few temp tables that it outputs the final resultset from. When I hit preview in the ole db source editor, I see the right output. When I select the "Columns" tab on the right, the "Available External Column List" is empty. Why don't the column names appear? What is the work around to get the column mappings to work b/w source and destination in this scenario.
In DTS previously, you could "fool" the package by first compiling the stored procedure with hardcoded column names and dummy values, creating and saving the package and finally changing the procedure back to the actual output. As long as the columns remained the same, all would work. Thats not working for me in SSIS.
I want to retrieve SQL 2000 Encrypted Column Data From SQL 2005 strored proc. My Stored Procedure was on SQL 2000 and it works fine....Then I restore Database From SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. The Following Statement is on my store proce.
select user_id , Encrypt(user_pass) from OpenRowset('SQLOLEDB','myserver';'sa';'mypass',databasename.dbo.users) as a
The Following Error I get When I execute the above statement.
Msg 195, Level 15, State 10, Line 1
'Encrypt' is not a recognized built-in function name.
Does Anyone of the SQLServer Guru has a smart script to alert DBA by email for failed jobs or jobs running more then their normal time(long running jobs), so that I dont have to go and look at the jobs everyday manually...on different servers...
I have an very long ntext field, made up of many sentences that I append a full stop to every one, I also strip out any line breaks within the text. However I get this error, when I look it up it comes up with "Failed to locate the ending boundary of a sentence."
Hi DBAs, I am very new in SQL server. I created a table where one column is varchar(8000). But when I am trying to insert value from enterprise manager this column cann't accept a long text value. I counted that its' capacity is 1012 charecters. I have tried a lot but don't know how to solve this. I really need help from you. Pls help.
i have a table that has 9 columns that belongs to other tables. i need to retrieve one column from this table. In order to do this, do i have to join all the other tables that has similar columns?
I recently used the REPLACE command, as described in a previous topic on this forum, to remove unwanted commas however I've now got a new problem, the column has become half a mile long. I was asked to raise a new topic and give examples, see below:
CAN ANYONE TELL ME: 1. Why is the column now bigger? 2. How can I redue the size of the column to it's origional size?
I have already attempted to use CONVERT, RTRIM and CAST around the replace command, all give an error.
Example query and result before REPLACE: select ICMAFinInstName,CptyCode from tradedetails
I need to modify existing table in my database to varchar(max) from varchar(2000)
This table contains 30 million plus rows and has more than 70 columns.
now when i am running alter command for this it take too long(more than 9 mins) which is not acceptable. . Is their any way to reduce this execution time
Following is the query i am using for this
ALTER TABLE Receipt ALTER COLUMN CUSTOM VARCHAR(MAX) NULL
Please let me know if you have any suggestion to improve this
Name x y z z1 A 1 2 3 3 B 0 2 0 3 C 1 0 3 3 if i pass parameter as @param=1, only column of x should be displayed, if i send parameter as @param=2 only y column should be displayed, if @param=3 is parameter then Z column And Z1 column should be displayed. plz help to create sql query.
Hi, all.. I want to know the query to retrieve Column information that we can see from table Design view of Enterprise manager, such as Column name, Pk or not, FK table, Data Type, Null or not, Description(Specially Descrition).
I have search for and see how to put the columns for the last, first mi together (Name_Last + ', ' + Name_First + ' ' + Name_MI) as Name But how can I test the value of the Name_Type field to determine how the Name column looks if Name_Type = 1 then Name = (Name_Last + ', ' + Name_First + ' ' + Name_MI) else Name = Name_Last
The Name_Type represents Individual versus an Entity 0,ABC Pipeline,, 1,Williams, John,A
I am trying to retrieve all rows with the largest value in a particular column. The largest value could return many rows for a particular users. Here is what I have thus far.
SELECT DISTINCT ID, NAME, FOP, ACCT, CTNUM, ENDDATE, DEBIT, CREDIT, TRANSACTION_DATE, EXPORTED, CALENDAR_YEAR, FISCAL_YEAR, PAYROLL_IDENTIFIER, PAYROLL_NUMBER, [EARN-SEQNO], EVENT_SEQUENCE_NUMBER FROM (SELECT *, ROW_NUMBER() OVER (PARTITION BY ID, ACCT, PAYROLL_NUMBER,EVENT_SEQUENCE_NUMBER ORDER BY EVENT_SEQUENCE_NUMBER DESC) AS RN FROM PAYROLLYEAREND ) s WHERE RN = 1 AND ID = '16443' AND PAYROLL_NUMBER ='7'
In the above example, the EVENT_SEQUENCE_NUMBER is populated with values from 0 to 12. Could vary per user and PAYROLL_NUMBER. The query above returns 48 rows. However, all I want are the rows where EVENT_SEQUENCE_NUMBER is equal to the highest, which is in the above example is 12. The result would be 29 rows. The where clause is not part of overall query. Just isolating on one ID.
I have two tables something like this : Table : Account AccountID UserName Password
Table : Address AddressID AccountID Line1 Line2 State
My NHibernate mapping file looks like this : For Table Account <id name="ID" type="long" column="AccountID" access="property"> <generator class="identity"/> </id>
My Problem is it does entry in the Account table perfectly, but when it comes to do entry in Address Table it says AccountID can't be null, I'm wondering shouldn't it pick it up from the Account table as I'm passing in that object.
For the Workaround I was thinking maybe I can get the identity of the last entry saved and somehow save it to the other table myself.
I have a table with an Identity column. Is there a way to get the automatically generated primary key after I insert something to the table? If so, what is the syntax?
Hi I’m trying to alter a table and delete a column I get the following error. The object 'DF__Morningst__LastU__19EB91BA' is dependent on column 'LastUpdated'. ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN LastUpdated failed because one or more objects access this column. I tried deleting the concerned constraint. But the next time I get the same error with a different constraint name. I want to find out if I can dynamically check the constraint name and delete it and then drop the column. Can anyone help.IF EXISTS(SELECT 1FROM sysobjects, syscolumnsWHERE sysobjects.id = syscolumns.idAND sysobjects.name = TablenameAND syscolumns.name = column name)BEGIN EXECUTE ('ALTER TABLE tablename DROP CONSTRAINT DF__SecurityM__DsegL__08C105B8')EXECUTE ('ALTER TABLE tablenameDrop column columnname)ENDGO
I have the following in my table. As you can see the Geo field is null (which is of type Geography), what I'm trying to do is populate that with an update statement by comparing the latitude and longitude for each row so I can then work out the distance, I've been following this tutorial to workout the distance which is giving me the desired results
[URL] ....
The issue I have is passing in the points i.e latitude and longitude and then updating the Geo field for the row, I currently have 11938 rows in my DB so I need to run this against all of them. I thought I had it I was thinking of update then select from the source but then I realized I need to pass the lat and long in for the points and that's where I got confused
I'm having a problem doing a bulk insert on a tab delimited text file into mssql 2005 using either bulk insert or bcp. When using the following bulk insert command I get the "The column is too long in the data file for row 1, column 2" error. I have tried
The data file only has data for the first 10 columns of a table with over 100 columns.
First 10 table columns have the format of CREATE TABLE [dbo].[CustomerDefinition]( [Rowid] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT FOR REPLICATION NOT NULL, [CustomerId] [varchar](15) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL, [Name] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [Addr1] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [Addr2] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [Addr3] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [City] [varchar](30) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [State] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [Zipcode] [varchar](10) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [Country] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL CONSTRAINT [PK_CustomerDefinition] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED

Is there any way to retrieve partial contents of a database column? For example, say a column holds 5,000 characters, but I only wish to retrieve the first 50. Thanks
I want to just retrieve the numbers left of the space in this address column what can I use? The Address column is Varchar.
Address: 6501 Red Hook Place #201 32 Orchard St 1 Hardy Rd ste 210 379 E Center St. 170 Bridge St 399 Interpace Pkwy 1800 Valley Rd 2210 Harding Hwy 41 Maple Ct

Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '6501 Red Hook Place #201' to data type int.
I have the following query and where I need to use the t_PrevSession.DischargeTime which is in the nested query that is bolded below. How do i bring it up to the main select statement?
