I am trying to write a T-SQL script to change about 200 SQL Agent jobs to send notification to a different email notification list. I could do this manually but it would take me a lot more time. Is there a way to script this out in T-SQL? Thanks!
Hi, I have scheduled a job that runs every minute. If the job does not succeed, then I would like my front end application to be notified. I am not sure if this is a reasonable way but I am thinking of somehow populating a table (Only if the scheduled job fails) in sql server and then read that table every minute from the front end application.
So, is it possible to populate a table if a job fails? I do not see any options for this in the properties of the job.
I have a large number of jobs that I run using a cursor (All jobs start with PS_ and each job loads a single table from ORACLE) so they can run in parallel. I want to be able to be notified when the last job completes. Should this done using a trigger? Or should I just add a loop statement to the stored procedure that fires this job? I know which individual takes the longest and I could simply just add a notification to send email on success but I want it to be more robust. Below is what I am using to trigger the jobs.
BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; DECLARE @year CHAR(4) DECLARE @month CHAR(2) DECLARE @day CHAR(2) SET @year = CAST(DATEPART(YEAR, GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR)
I had configured SQL Agent and SQL Mail to use the profile that I created by logging in as the SQL Agent domain admin. service account. The mail service was successfully working. Now, when I create an operator with my mail account and test it, Agent gives the message that the mail was successfully sent, but I don't actually receive any mail.
I have numerous jobs running on my SQL Server machine. Due to the fact that my company will not sanction an e-mail account for a machine (damn them!!) I have no way of knowing (quickly) whether a Job has failed. Does anyone hae any suggestions on how I can create a file or SQL table that is updated every time a job fails? (writing to NT application log is not an option beacause Operations refuse to trawl thru it).
We have an application comprising of a number of SSIS packages that run every few hours. When a package fails, we would like an email to be sent to a pre-configured address with the required information. I would like to use Send Mail task with SMTP server like smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, but this server requires authentication and I need to provide my user_id and password for that. I have not been able to figure out where I can configure user_id and password for getting authenticated by the SMTP server. If SMTP connection cannot be used, is there any other way to notify admin of the failure?
I tried using Query Notification on my computer at home: * Win XP Pro with all the SPs and hotfixes * SQL 2005 with SP1 qand hotfix
Query Notification worked fine.
Then I tried using it at work:
* Win XP Pro with all the SPs and hotfixes
* SQL 2005 with SP1 qand hotfix
and I see the following error in the SQL server log file and notification does not get to the client app:
---------------------------------------------------------- Date 9/1/2006 10:18:30 AM Log SQL Server (Current - 9/1/2006 10:18:00 AM)
Source spid17s
Message An exception occurred while enqueueing a message in the target queue. Error: 15404, State: 19. Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'domainmyuser', error code 0x6e. ----------------------------------------------------------
A similar error shows up in the machine's Event Log.
I am sysadmin and full OS admin on both boxes. The difference is that the computer at home is standalone while the one at work is part of a domain.
Does anybody have any experience/advice on how to ensure that SOAP service call success/failures are returned to the calling app?
Consider a client that calls a SOAP service during which the client goes down and is unable to receive the SOAP response, the work having been done by the service. Similarly, the SOAP service may perform the task but a failure in the return makes the client think the process failed.
What would be the best way to ensure that the client is notified to avoid the call having to be made again?
Are there middleware tools that can be used to provide a form of message queuing for SOAP service calls?
After upgrading a server from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005, I can't get any SQL Agent jobs to run, giving logon failed messages. MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT services are set up to run as the same domain account which has administrative rights to the server and is a SQL login with the sysadmin role. For basic testing purposes, I created a test job that all it does is run a T-SQL command 'SELECT @@VERSION'. The job is also set to run as the same account that the Agent is running under. Below are the logs (with trace messages on) from the point of starting the Agent to my attempt to run the job (user and server names have been changed to protect the innocent):

I am using ODBC to connect SQL Server 2000 + SP4 server runnig on Windows 2003 standard edition Server +SP1. But, sporadically my application server connectivity to DB fails and i receive the following error messages

Strange thing is that i receive this error only sporadically, Please Please advice !
My SQL server email job notifications have stopped working, but mails sent through the xp_sendmail command still work.
The only thing that has changed recently is the SQL server agent account passwords have been changed, these accounts are normal win2000 domain accounts.
I wish to know if there is anyway to find out if a perticular job on SQL Agent was executed or not. I am not looking for Log History of the job, but, something like a trigger that will fire an email to notify that a perticular job that was scheduled to run at a certain time did not run.
To explain in detail, I have a job that is scheduled to run every 15 min. This job is crutial and I wish to be notified if the job was not run for some reason or other. I already have a program that delivers me the history log of the job each day, but, checking history to see if the job ran or not every 15 min is not possible. Again, I am not talking about the job success or failure, but the fact that the job has run or not - thats it !
If you are suggesting a SMO object, I will appriciate if you provide me with the code or alternatively a source to refer.

I have set up SQL Mail on a SQL 7.0 box and I can successfully schedule tasks and receive e-mails from them. However, when I try to get mail notification from a scheduled DTS package I run into problems and no mail is sent. Under Profile Name the only item selectable is Microsoft Outlook. I've tried selecting this as well as leaving the profile blank and nothing seems to work. We use POP3 server and Microsoft Messaging. Our corporate e-mail system is Notes so we forward mail through the POP3 server via Internet mail to our Lotus Notes system.
Any suggestions so that we could get our DTS mail notification working? Anything I could try that I haven't?
Does anyone know if there is any software available that notifies specified people when an error above a certian level occurs. Im thinking along the lines of email and text message.
Im running sql server 2k at sp3a level, and the software will have to be compatible with it so as to get the event notification to pass the information on.
If there isn't any software, would anyone know of any scripts that will do this?
I would like to know, is there any method that the notification can be send more than one person? (SQL server agent--> Job Properties--> Notification--> email)
The dropdownbox list allow one email only, can I add more people on the email list, or insert more email address in the same operator?
Can anyone tell me abt SQL Notification Service ??? Is that SQL Programming application or can be implemented with other Dot Net Languagues ???
Need to know further that this services are implemented only by the Database Engineers or integrated with the Application development using .Net Language like C# etc ????
Is there any way to configure a notification icon in the start tray in Express 2005 (like we had in SQL Server 2000) with a little green (or red) arrow (or dot) to indicate whether the server's up (or down)?
i have a scheduled ssis package and because it's pretty critical i have to do a lot of error handling. inside the package all possible errors are handeld but now i have the question if there's a way to check whether a scheduled sql server job was started successfully or not. because if the job doesn't start i cannot get an error notification from inside the ssis package. in sql server management studio there's the possibility to send a notification if a job fails, but i don't know if this also includes the case when the job doesn't start at all.
I have a problem with the notification. I have enabled Database mail and i have created an Operator.
Under SQL Server AgentJobs and then in the job properties i have enabled notification but i don`t receive a mail. Test e-mail works fine but "real" e-mail not.
I have also tried with the Database Maintenance Wizard but even then it just not work.
I have noticed that others have experienced the same problem but i have seen no solution yet.
Could you please help me? What can cause this problem? What`s the best i can do to start searching for the solution? Thanks!
I need to set up an automatic email notification. Right now, I have a subscription that is working. The subscription runs a report and puts the resulting pdf into a folder. I need a way to notify users (preferrably in an Outlook distribution list) when the pdf is created. I'm amazed that this basic feature is not built into the subscription capabilities.
Can anyone please tell me how to best accomplish this? I'm familiar with vb.net if that helps.
