File Share Delivery Failing
Aug 22, 2007
I'm trying to deliver a report via the included File Share Delivery method. Every time the subscription fires, the delivery fails with this error in the interface:

An in ReportServerService<dateTime>.log, I find the following error:

I'm exporting reports daily to a file share and I need to rename the reports with a pseudo time stamp.
Example: I have a report named "Disk Usage" and when I export (using a data-driven subscription) I want to rename it "Disk Usage - (Jan07)" - or something to that effect.
Can anybody tell me how to accomplish this.

Greetings, I have just arrived back into the country (NZ) and back into ASP.NET.
I am having trouble with the following:An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
It has only begun since i decided i wanted to use IIS, I realise VWD comes with its own localhost, but since it is only temporary, i wanted a permanent shortcut on my desktop to link to my intranet page.
Anyone have any ideas why i am getting the above error? have searched many places on the internet and not getting any closer.
Cheers ~ J

Can someone please tell me what is meant by a file share?I'm doing a little reading on MS Sql Server and they talk about howyou can connect to the sql server through a named pipe.I'm guessing that a file share means a specific service running on aserver. Is this correct? The book says the following:When you connect to a file share you use a Universal Naming Conventionpath to a file server: \FILESERVERSharename.To connect to a named pipe, you connect to a share of the form:\COMPUTERpipesqlqueryThanks Hope you can clear this up for me.

Has anyone written a RSS file that is used to add new Active Directory User/Group to SSRS, and applying security ROLES such as BROWSER?
I have new IT AD group that I need to apply to ALL folders on my PROD, QA and DEV servers. Way too many folders to do via SSMS or Web interface.
Would you be willing to share the RSS file?

Publishing account is Local Administrator on both Reporting Services and target boxes.
Logon Locally has been granted on both Reporting Services and target boxes.
Any thoughts?

SQL Agent will not successfully execute my package as a job. Bids executes the package correctly as well as when I run the package manually (right click, run package) through SQL Server Management Studio. This is a permissions issue with the flat file any help will be much appreciated. Background Information:OS: SQL 2005 on Windows Server 2003Flat File Connection: \servernamefolderfile.txt (If I change the flat file location to a local file the package will run as a job successfully)Domain: The package is running on a Windows machine that is not on any domain. The network location is a Windows machine on a domain.Security: The network location folder (\servernamefolderfile.txt) has no security, namely anyone can access any file to read/write/delete/etc. I can manually add and delete files as well as add and delete files when the package runs through BIDS or when I manually run it through management studio.Permissions: I have created a login, security credential, and proxy which I am using to run the package. The security credential is tied to the Administrator account on the local machine.
Error Message: Executed as user: COMPUTER-NAMEAdministrator. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 32-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. (note: I replaced the fileconnection strings with FILECONNECTION and the serverpath with "servernamefolder" for privacy reasons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is some sort of security issue with SQL Agent. But, the error claims that the user is running as localmachineAdministrator. Isn't this how the package would run if I manually execute it?

Hi
In the "Choosing Between SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" white paper, i can read that: "SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition support data file storage on a network share" and "Number of concurrent connections = 256"
But when i try to connect with two different PC at the same time to a .sdf file store on a network share, i have an error message : "File is locked by an other processus"
The firsth PC is connected but the secondth can't
";Mode=Read Write" in the connection string don't change anything.
anybody have an idea ?

Hello everyone,
I have been playing with a Standard Version of VS 2005 and SSE 2005 and I just cannot get these two to interact together well. I am sure it is a noob problem but I have seen this error addressed on this forum and I am just not getting it. Here is exactly what I am doing.
I want to create a database within SSE using the Management Studio. Then, I want to connect to it with VS2005. Both SSE and VS2005 are local. I just cant seem to get this to work.
I always seem to get this error "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataSecond.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
One thing... I create the website with Location: HTTP. I don't even know anymore why I do this.. I think because I like to be able to pull up a browser and get to my app. Other than that I am doing nothing special. However, I get the above error when I hit F5 to run the app inside VS2005.
Is there someplace where a complete noob can find a thorough and simple covering of this? Again, I have read through some of the previous posts on this and I don't understand too many of them and it seems as if there are at least 13 causes of which I don't know which one I have. Help!
Thanks.

I am developing a package to restore a database from backup file on a remote server. I am having problems accessing the remote backup file when it is addressed via the admin share, in this case N$. It runs okay if a specific share is created but for some unknown reason fails via the adminshare.
I am executing the package job with a proxy account that is a member of the local administrators group on the remote server.
It appears that access via a remote admin share isn't possible from within a SSIS package. Is this the case?

I am running Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 box. The SQL Server service is running as a simple windows domain user (nothing special, no admin rights, etc.) I am having some issues with using Bulk Insert when the data file is on a network share when using Windows Authentication. What is known is that the SQL Server service account has access to the network resource, which is shown by logging into SQL Server with a SQL account and doing the Bulk Insert. I also have rights to the files on the share, as shown by the fact that I put the files there. My SQL is in the form of:
Bulk Insert [table name] From '[server][share][filename]' With (FirstRow = 2, FormatFile='FormatFile.xml')
Now, when connecting to SQL Server with Windows Authentication and running the Bulk Insert I get the following error:
Msg 4861, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Cannot bulk load because the file "[server][share][filename]" could not be opened. Operating system error code 5(Access is denied.).
I found this snip at
BULK INSERT (Transact-SQL)Security Account Delegation (Impersonation), which says, in part (emphasis mine):
To resolve this error [4861], use SQL Server Authentication and specify a SQL Server login that uses the security profile of the SQL Server process account, or configure Windows to enable security account delegation. For information about how to enable a user account to be trusted for delegation.
How to Configure the Server to be Trusted for Delegation, and we tried the unconstrained delegation and I rebooted the SQL server, but it still does not work. Later we tried constrained delegation and it still does not work.
I have verified the SPNs:
C:>setspn adsvc_sqlRegistered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=SVC_SQL,OU=Service Accounts,OU=Users,OU=ad domain,DC=ad,DC=local:    MSSQLSvc/SQLQA.ad.local:1433    MSSQLSvc/SQLDev.ad.local:1433    MSSQLSvc/SQLQA.ad.local    MSSQLSvc/SQLDev.ad.local
I have verified that my SQL connection is TCP and I am getting/using a Kerberos security token.
C:>sqlcmd -S tcp:SQLQA.ad.local,1433 -E1> Select dec.net_transport, dec.auth_scheme From sys.dm_exec_connections As dec Where session_id = @@Spid;2>
gonet_transport auth_scheme------------- -----------TCP KERBEROS(1 rows affected)1>
If I move the source file to a local drive (on the SQL server), all works fine, but I must be able to read from a file share?

Came across this scenario in AlwaysOn Availability Group (two node), file share witness times out and RHS terminate and cause the cluster node to reboot. File share witness is for continuous failover and if the resource is unavailable my expectation was that it should go offline and should not impact Server or Sql Server. But its rebooting the cluster node to rectify the issue.
Configuration
Windows Server 2012 R2 (VMs)
Sql Server 2012 SP2
Errors
A component on the server did not respond in a timely fashion. This caused the cluster resource 'File Share Witness' (resource type 'File Share Witness', DLL 'clusres2.dll') to exceed its time-out threshold. As part of cluster health detection, recovery actions will be taken. The cluster will try to automatically recover by terminating and restarting the Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process that is running this resource. Verify that the underlying infrastructure (such as storage, networking, or services) that are associated with the resource are functioning correctly.
The cluster Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process was terminated and will be restarted. This is typically associated with cluster health detection and recovery of a resource. Refer to the System event log to determine which resource and resource DLL is causing the issue.

I have the following issue with Maintenance plan backups that work for BAK DIF and TRN to a remote server share.
When I try and remove the old files with a clean up task I get an error and the files don't get deleted.
The version is as follows
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (X64) Mar 23 2007 18:41:50
Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on
Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
The error result is as follows,
Failed-1073548784) Executing the query "EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_delete_file
0,N'\\EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_delete_file 0,N'\ABCD-A1\BACKUPS\ABCD_BACKUP\ABC_DAILY\ABCD',N'trn',N'2008-01-13T12:52:49'" failed with the following error: "xp_delete_file() returned error 2, 'The
system cannot find the file specified.'". Possible failure reasons: Problems
with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set
correctly, or connection not established correctly.
The maintenance plan seems to be adding extra "" though when i enter the
code directly in a query i get same error.
Query:
EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_delete_file 0,N'\ABCD-A1BACKUPSABCD_BACKUPABC_DAILYABCD',N'trn',N'2008-01-13T12:52:49'
Error:
xp_delete_file() returned error 2, 'The system cannot find the file specified.'
The servers belong to the same domain and are using the same Service account which has all the necessary rights to the share and the file directory location. The backups work but i get the error on the cleanup task.
Trying to figure out how to get the Cleanup task to delete old files. The same happens for all file extensions and I have tried other locations with simpler file paths same error.
Regards,
Scott

Get a filestream download link with only access to read and with folder navigation
I need a link with the path to get the file stream blob, that path could be used to download a document using any windows app like windows explorer, etc. the requirement is that path does not allow customer to navigate in filesstream share folders or see other files and only can read the file of the path,
Checking :
[file_stream].GetFileNamespacePath(2)
Allow you navigate in folders.
NON_TRANSACTED_ACCESS read_only, resolve the requirement to disable the save in file table, but allow you navigate and see other files.

Logshipping was working fine till last Friday...Looks like there was a cluster node failover during the weekend on the Secondary SQL cluster....From that time, restore log is not working, I am able to see all the log backup files are being copied to the secondary server...its no the transaction log backup share missing problem......I see this message:
The RESTORE statement could not access file 'J:MSSQLBackupDBName_200712081350.tuf'. Error was '2(The
system cannot find the file specified.)'
I gooled and found that .tuf file has the LSN information as which log needs to be restored next....I looked at the sql error log and tried to restore the next log manually with "norecovery" option, but still get the same message....Is there any other option other than to remove and reconfigure logshipping ?

I created a simple SSIS package that downloads a file from an FTP server and does some processing on it. I scheduled it as a job step with the Sql Job Agent. The problem is that this file is not always available for pick up, but when it is I need it very quickly. I'm setting the schedule to look for it every minute. Anytime the file is not there, the package fails and shows up in the job history in red.
Is there any way to prevent an error in this task from registering a package failure?

Hello everyone,
I have a package that extracts data from a Flat File. If any errors or truncation occur during the extraction of the input data, the package should fail. All fields that have erroneous values should be reported in the log file.
My Solution:
- I have created a Data Flow Task that contains a Flat File Source Adapter and a dummy destination.
- I have left the default "Error Output" configuration of the Flat File Source adapter, namely if a truncation or an error occur for a certain column, then the reaction is "Fail Component".
Problem:
This configuration gives me only the first erroneous column in the row being processed.
Question:
Is it possible to make the Flat File Source adapter continue parsing the current row before it fails? This way, I would be able to get all the erroneous columns in the row in one shot.
Thanks in advance...

Is anyone else having problems with subscriptions and delivery with SQL Reporting Services? I can set up a subscription and uncheck "Include Report" and the email sends fine. When I try and "Include Report" such as a PDF I get "Failure sending mail: The Report Server has encountered a configuration error; more details in the log files" This was the default set up. I guess I am not sure as to what user/service accounts should be used. The Reporting Service and SQL are on the same machine (2003).
Thanks for ANY suggestions!!

Hi,
I'm new to SSIS but have been using BizTalk for a while. My question is, if the FTP task in SSIS ensures guranteed delivery of the files transferred. I know that in BTS, potnetially you can start processing incomplete files (unless you set the staging, temp folder). Can this be a problem in SSIS FTP transfer? I'll be dealing with very large files (5 gigs in some cases) transfers via FTP, on an unreliable network in my project, which means that the file can be partially transferred when the connection breaks down.
I need to know, if in SSIS
(1) FTP task supports partial transfers, and then resuming the download/ upload of these files from point of failure, when the network is again available (Regets, Reputs)?
(2) If EOF is received, before the rest of data is received, especially in the case if 1) is supported, then does FTP task believe that whole file is received or will it wait for the rest of content, before task completion?
I'll appreciate if someone can answer these and can also send me the details of FTP implementation in SSIS
Thanks,
Ali Shahzad

I'm using the web service to run reports from an application. However, I don't want to wait for a report to complete; I would like to just have the report emailed to the user when it is complete. I've only found email delivery through subscriptions. Is there another way to deliver reports via email?
If I have to use subscriptions I would like to set them to run "immediately". I've found that setting the start date to sometime in the past does not seem to run the report. Is there some way to set a schedule to run immediately. I've thought of setting the time to the near future, but I seem to have the problem of getting the proper timestamp. Can I get this through the web service some how?
Thanks,
Sam

Is SSRS limited to delivering reports to recipients inside your domain (active directory)? I'm using an SMTP server for report delivery an have set the SendMailToUserAlias to False and still can only send reports to e-mails with my domain (user@mycompany.com). I need to send reports to recipients outside my company -- is SSRS capable? If so, how do I configure it to do so?

I am trying to send an email out, from an SQL Server with Microsoft Office 2000 Premium (Professional also available) (could have option for Office
2003 also) installed on it (only outlook is installed, however we can change
that) It's Windows 2k3 running Microsoft SQL 2000 server SP 4.
I need to be able to, via SQL (or a stored procedure) automate sending of emails out via xp_sendmail or some other system, with delivery receipts attached to them, so that when they hit the client's server we know it. I can get it to send a delivery receipt when remoting into outlook and sending an email through outlook automatically, however it does not attach one to the ones going out with xp_sendmail. I know there's a way to do it via ASP.Net, but I'd much prefer to have a job that goes out and finds which emails need sent, and have the database server auto make the email, and sent it out on our behalf, instead of requiring someone to go in and click sends, and such via ASP.Net.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi There
I was wondering if someone could elaborate (or provide a link) on how the once only delivery works for servcie broker.
For example you have DB1 that sends messages to DB2. DB1 has corruption at 1pm, you retore the database to 12:30pm, this will have all the messages that were in this instance at 12:30 , however between 12:30 AND 1PM several successful messages were sent. These messages are in the restored DB1 queue, they get sent again?
How does service borker ensure that these messages are not processed again. The only thing i can think of is that the inititator or target keep a complete history of messages processed. But surely this "table" would get huge and slow down servcie broker if it had to check this tale every time a message is sent or received.
I cannot find much in BOL on this topic, or maybe i cannot find the topic.
Thanx

Hi!
Well..
I've several big tables which take part in the merge replication (web synchronization is used)
Is there any *painless* solution to delivery these tables to the subscribers?
Otherwise I've the snapshot with dozens of Mb..
Yes, the Parameterized Row Filters can be used, but sometimes it's necessary to get the whole table
Thanks
Paul

I have a delivery extension that prints to network printers.
Now I add a subscription like a few minutes in the future via web service for each report to print.
Is there a way I can trigger the delivery directly?
Thanks for ideas, guys.
Michael
