When I import from filemaker it gives me a error. Is it any way I can disable the datatypes, so that it willl accept the strange datatypes in SQl Server? I think it's a way in DTS.

Hi,
I need to set up an automated transfer of data from a FileMaker database to a SQL 2000 database, so I can build a cube on these data.
Is it possible to make a connection via ODBC to make this datatransfer possible? Is the ODBC driver a part of the FileMaker package or do I have to tell my customer to purchace an add on application?
Hope someone can aid me
Has anyone successfully connected to FileMaker using SQL Server's Linked Server feature? I've tried every possible combination of entries into the Linked Server dialog box, but no success. I know my ODBC System DSN works because I can extract and update data in FileMaker using MS Query (from within Excel).
Thank you,
I've developed a number of databases in FileMaker for a client, and am now in the process of converting them over to SQL Server. During the transition, there will be duplicates of tables in both platforms, so I must design a method of data synchronization, so that data maintenance need only be done in one database, not both. I've done it with DTS, but that's certainly not the most efficient. Instead, I'm trying to implement Linked Servers within SQL Server so that data can be updated dynamically with SQL statements. Has anyone ever had the pleasure of trying to do this? If so, would you mind sharing with me how you completed the Linked Server dialogue box (see attached) to connect to FileMaker.

I have read the help files that we can connect to filemaker database via ODBC.
I have tried to create DSN for that, but when I tried to connect using that DSN my C# application, It failed to retrieve the catalog information, it said that login failed.
I have no idea what the username and password that I have to used in my connection because as i knew that filemaker only use password, and i have tried to use that password too.
I never used filemaker before, but this time i need to retrieve data from filemaker, so please help :)
Thanks.
I've been programming in Paradox since DOS, but one mail-order database is getting rather large (100K client records, and associated orders, etc).
Our client wants us to move to Filemaker. In fact he'd like to have a 3rd party write the programme and me maintain it. The current package has been written & maintained by myself, with an awful lot lot going on in the Object PAL code.
I already have a copy (legal) of SQL Server & 10 licences for Access, and think that's a better option to re-develop in (although I could do with some training in both).
What are the pros & cons for each app, and what would people recommend. I'm going to cross-post into Access, Paradox & Filemaker forums to get an equal view.
Thanks
Mark
