Filter DB Using A Stored Proc And Textbox Value

I'm creating a search tool that a users can type their search criteria into a textbox and retrieve records that relate to the textbox values. I don't want it to search on the whole phrase, just individual words. So, I used the Split() method to split up the textbox.text and then I use that array to fill my stored proc with a search criteria. The problem is that it does it one word at a time. So if the user types 3 words in the textbox, it will open and close the stored proc 3 times. It works, but I know it's not the greatest way to do it and I was wondering if there is a better way to do it. There has to be a way to split up the textbox value inside the stored proc so I don't have to open the stored proc n number of times. Any ideas?
