I want to filter rows in script transformation. Since there is no isnumeric function in SSIS, i want to use script transformation to remove or block some rows in script. My question is how to remove or block some rows from data flow?
For some other reasons, script transformation is my preferred choice for this problem..
If you have two synchronous transformation components and the input of the second is connected to the output of the first, does the first transformation process (loop through) all rows in the buffer before outputting these rows to the second transformation? Or does the first transformation output each individual row to the second transormation as soon as it has finished processing it?
Hi, I have some data coming through pipeline and I wanna add some component at some point to pass on only selected rows based on conditions to the objects onwards. My opinion is I should use conditional split object, but Please suggest me something if you know better.
Hi, i have a OLE DB transformation that executes a stored procedure. The stored procedure RAISERROR when an error is caught. I have set the OLE DB transformation to redirect rows. But instead, the task turns red and fails. Did i do something wrong here ?
I want to created a filter that filters on some aggregated data, but keep getting the error listed below. Is there a way around this?
[rsAggregateInFilterExpression] A FilterExpression for the data set €˜DataSet1€™ includes an aggregate function. Aggregate functions cannot be used in data set filters or data region filters.
Is there a way w.out using TSQL to filter the "ID" number which has all three "Code" of X1,X2, X3 associated with it. In the above example I would only want "ID" AAAAA and CCCCC returned. Thanks in Advance
Please refer to the below query. I want to filter inner join rows based on outer query column value (refer to bold text).
SELECT M.MouldId, SI.StockCode, MI.Cavity, MI.ShotCounter, CQ.SumOfCastedQty  as CastedQty, MI.CounterStartup FROM     MouldItem MI JOIN (SELECT JD.MouldId, JC.StockCode, SUM(JS.CastedQty) AS SumOfCastedQty FROM JobCasting AS JS INNER JOIN JobCreationDet AS JD ON JS.JobDetId = JD.Uniid INNER JOIN JobCreation AS JC ON JD.JobIdx = JC.Uniid
I am using SSIS in SQL Server Enterprise 2005. I have two OLE DB data sources from two disparate databases (IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server), some columns from each of which are to be included in the merged output results. I have noted the various requirements in the forum postings with regard to sorting the OLE DB sources and specifying the output source columns as being sorted, as well as the requirement that the join fields in the two sources be close/exact matches. Yet, when I run this in VS, while the work area reflects the expected number of rows being input into the Merge Join transformation, no count is reflected as output from that transformation into the final destination table.Specifically, my two data sources (IBM DB2 and MS SQL) are configured as follows:
IBM DB2 contains an SQL statement that uses Cast operations to create the result columns.and an ORDER BY clause to ensure that the output is sorted by the desired two columns.. The OLE DB source property setting for IsSorted is set to true; the Output Columns folder column definitions for "key_ source_dtsy" and "key_source_dtrt" have their SortKeyPosition properties set to 1 and 2, respectively. Those field are both defined as data type DT_STR, with lengths of 4 and 2, respectively. Below is the Path metadata from the Data Flow Path editor from the path from this source:
IBM DB2 source"Name"Â "Data Type"Â "Precision"Â "Scale"Â "Length"Â "Code Page"Â "Sort Key Position"Â "Comparison Flags"Â "Source Component""ID_CODE"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "10"Â "1252"Â "0"Â ""Â "Source F0005 User Defined Codes""CODE_DESCR_1"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "30"Â "1252"Â "0"Â ""Â "Source F0005 User Defined Codes""CODE_DESCR_2"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "30"Â "1252"Â "0"Â ""Â "Source F0005 User Defined Codes""key_source_dtsy"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "4"Â "1252"Â "1"Â ""Â "Source F0005 User Defined Codes""key_source_dtrt"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "2"Â "1252"Â "2"Â ""Â "Source F0005
User Defined Codes:
MS SQL contains an SQL statement that takes the columns as they are in the MS SQL table (no Cast operations needed); it also uses an ORDER BY clause to ensure the output is sorted by the join columns. The OLE DB source property setting for IsSorted is set to true; the Output Columns folder columns for "key_source_dtsy" and "key_source_dtrt" have their SortKeyPosition properties set to 1 and 2, respectively. Those field are both defined as data type DT_STR, with lengths of 4 and 2, respectively. Below is the Path metadata from the Data Flow Path editor from the path from this source:
MS SQL source"Name"Â "Data Type"Â "Precision"Â "Scale"Â "Length"Â "Code Page"Â "Sort Key Position"Â "Comparison Flags"Â "Source Component""id_code_name"Â "DT_I2"Â "0"Â "0"Â "0"Â "0"Â "0"Â ""Â "Source CodeName in db dwVdFY""key_source_dtsy"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "4"Â "1252"Â "1"Â ""Â "Source CodeName in db dwVdFY""key_source_dtrt"Â "DT_STR"Â "0"Â "0"Â "2"Â "1252"Â "2"Â ""Â "Source CodeName in db dwVdFY"
The Merge Join transformation specifies an INNER JOIN using the columns named "key_source_dtsy" and "key_source_dtrt" from the respective data sources.I know there are alternative ways of accomplishing my intent (Lookup, port MS SQL table to IBM DB2 so join can occur in SELECT statement, etc.; however, I'd like to use this functionality and assume that it should work.Â
declare tableName table ( uniqueid int identity(1,1), id int, starttime datetime2(0), endtime datetime2(0), parameter int )
A stored procedure has new set of values for a given id. Sometimes the startime and endtime are the same, in which case I update the value of parameter. Sometimes I add a new time range (insert statement), and sometimes I delete a time range (delete statement).
I had a question on merge, with insert, delete and update and I got that resolved. However I have a different question regarding performance of the merge statement.
If my target table has hundreds of millions of records and I want to delete/update/insert a handful of records, will SQL server scan the entire target table? I can't have:
merge ( select * from tableName where id = 10 ) as target using ...
and I can't have:
merge tableName as target using [my query] as source on source.id = target.id and source.starttime = target.startime and source.endtime = target.endtime where target.id = 10 ...
This means I cannot filter the set of rows in the target table to a handful of records where id = 10.
I'm running SQL Server 2008 Feb08 CTP and I've got a tablix with column groupings and row groupings which works nicely, I'm a becomming a big fan of the tablix.
However sometimes the filter I have on a column group returns no records and the whole column group disappears. Is there any way to make this column appear with but with empty cells as I have another tablix down the page with the same columns and I want the columns to all line up on the multiple tablix.
In Version 2005 I used to achieve the equivalent of a column group within a table by adding a list with filter to the cell, this meant the column always was shown, the tablix allows does this much more elegantly but I'll have to go back to the old method if I can't make the column remain.
I have flat file source from which data is imported to a Sql table. The target column is int and input column is string .The column has some numeric values and some blank values.when I tried to convert into int values it fails.
I am working on SQL server 2005 Reports. I have one report, one dataset is assigned to it, and one table which displays it. Now I come accros requirement that, the column value in the filter condition for the table is present in one textbox.
I can not use textbox i.e. reportItems in filter condition. Can someone suggest me how to use textbox value in filters?
I want to display parent/child records on report. I am not getting the proper solution.
The data is like this:
Sequence ItemCode IsParent
1 XYZ 0 'do not have child record
2 PQR 1 'have child records with sequence no 3
3 ASD 0
3 AFDGE 0
3 VDC 0
4 ASR 1 'have child records with sequence no 5 5 ASR 0
If IsParent = 1, that record has child records with sequence = parent sequenece + 1
I think u can understand the data I need to bind, and it is like:
XYZ
+ PQR
ASD
AFDGE
VDC
ASR
On + click we can do show/hide of child records.
I m not getting how to achive this in SQL server report. Can u give some hint?
I use SQL Server 2005. I have approx. 50 tables in my database and 30 of them have a filed named "CompanyID". Example: create table A (ID int identity, NAME varchar(100), COMPANYID int)create table A (ID int identity, REF_ID int, FIELD1 varchar(100), FIELD2 varchar(100), COMPANYID int)
Also there are nearly 200 stored procedures that read data from these tables. Example: create procedure ABCasbegin /* some checks and expressions here ... */ select ... from A inner join B on (A.ID = B.REF_ID) where ... /* ... */end;
All my queries in the Stored procedure does not filter the tables by CompanyID, so they process the entire data.
However, now we have a requirement to separate the data for each company. That means that we have to put a filter by CompanyID to each of those 20 tables in each query where the tables appear.
Firstly, I put the CompanyID in the context so now its value is accessible through the context_info() function. Thus I do not need now to pass it as a parameter to the stored procedures.
However, I don't know what is the easiest and fastest way to filter the tables. Example:
I modified the above mentioned procedure in the following way: create procedure ABCasbegin /* some checks and expressions here ... */ -- gets the CompanyID from the context: DECLARE @CompanyID int; SELECT @CompanyID = CONVERT(float, CONVERT(varchar(128), context_info())) select ... from A inner join B on (A.ID = B.REF_ID) where ... and A.COMPANYID = @CompanyID and B.COMPANYID = @CompanyID /* ... */end;
Now I have the desired filter by CompanyID. However, modifying over 200 stored procedures is rather tedious work and I don't think that this is the best approach. Is there any functionality in SQL Server that can provide the possibility to put an automatic filter to the tables. For example: when I wrote "SELECT * FROM A", the actual statements to be executed would be "SELECT * FROM A WHERE CompanyID = CONVERT(float, CONVERT(varchar(128), context_info()))".
I was looking for something like "INSTEAD OF SELECT" triggers but I didn't manage to find any answer.
I would very grateful is someone suggests a solution for something like "global table filter" (that will help me make an easy refactoring)?
I have a table that has a group. In this group, I want to filter by 2 different expressions, concatenated with an OR. BUT I can't change the "And/Or" column value for the first entry because it is grayed out. The column will automatically change to an OR value if both my expression column fields are the same (which I don€™t want) but if I put any other value in to the expression field of the second row, the "And/Or" field of the first row automatically changes to an AND.
PLEASE! How do I get the And/Or field "ungrayed" so I can change it to what I want?
The 2 filters I and using check the UserID = to the user, and the other is checking a count to get the Top N 1. (So just showing the current user and the top producer)
JobRequirements (A) JobID int QualificationTypeID int
EmployeeQualifications (B) EmployeeID int QualificationTypeID int
Employee (C) EmployeeID int EmployeeName int
I need to return a list of all employees fit for a specific job ... The criteria is that only employees who have all the JobRequirements are returned. So if a job had 3 requirements and the employee had just 2 of those qualifications, they would not be returned. Likewise, the employee might have more qualifications than the job requires, but unless the employee has all the specific qualifications the job requires they are not included. If an employee has all the job qualifications plus they have extra qualifications then they should be returned...
How to only return those records where all the child records are present in the other table..
Hello I trying to do some transformation using javascript. I have a table with 40 columns that I need dynamicaly mapped to another table. For example I need to test each Column of tableA if Col1 of TableA looks like an email address map it to TableB email if it looks like a zip map it to Email...
I need to do this with Javascript
if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great
lets say I start small test each col in TableA for an @ sign if I find it map to Email if I can get the idea of how to do that I can do this
plz tell me abt look up transformation , i need to look up with 3 source files ,1 flat file another 2 are compared with databases, how can we use that ....
I am a bit familiar with SSIS, but I have not used it in about a year. However, this is my question. We have a couple of reports that are being done in SSRS and our customer also requires some of these reports to be exported to a flat file. Somebody suggested using SSIS to do this.
What transformation element should I use to transform the data to a flat file destination. For instance, I have a column with a value of 10250. The customer specifies that this column must be right-justified with leading zeros. So I need to take that and convert it to a field length that is 12 characters long. It would ultimately be 000000010250.
The data source is returning columns that are both numeric and strings.
Hi, we are trying to implement this logic in SSIS data flow task
We have 2 datasets
Dataset 1 has Emplid and Actiondate. (from Oracle Database instance I) Dataset 2 has Emplid, ProjectID ,Project Start_Date ,Project_End_Date (from Oracle Database instance II)
Logic is
select ProjectID from Dataset 2 where Dataset 1.Emplid = Dataset 2.Emplid and Dataset 1.Actiondate between Dataset 2.Project Start_Date and Dataset 2.Project_End_Date.
for first condition we have used merge join between 2 datasets.
for second condition we are trying to use look up transformation... it did'nt help... if i want to write an query where do i write that???
I am trying to transform data from a text file to a SQL Server table and one particular column I want to split it to three other columns. It is erroring out when I try to split the column from the source in the Active X script while doing the transformation.
Is it possible to have more number of Columns in the destination when compared to the source.
We are transferring data between AS/400 and SQL Server 7.0 using DTS. Some of these transfers may need to be very close to real time. It doesn't seem like a continuously running job is the best solution for that.
Do you know any tools or utilities that can help us to move the data?
Please help,I am using SQL Server 7 and this is the first time I am using DTS. Can I import a text file with 3 fields to a table which has those 3 fields and also another 2 fields? Can somebody help with the ActiveX script to accomplish this? And one of the extra 2 fields in the table is a timestamp field. It needs to be timestamped automatically. Can somebody please help? Thank you in advance

I am importing user id's from CSV file into my Database. The source user id is of 4 character long and the destination user_id field is of 100 varchar. I just query the data so that i wan'a check that is said user id is already exist in the database or not . So i got this error. Hi, I need to extract a table from someother database in which one of the city columns with datatype CHAR has city values but all the values are appended by dots at the end...like: "Newyork.............." "Boston..............." "Chicago.............." "Los Angeles..........."
After extracting the table/data , i will have to do some transformations and lookups on the table....and at the same time i will have to remove the dots and load the table/data in to another SQL Server Database, i dont think i can use the substring as each record's length is different.
hi all, i am trying to convert getdate()to yyyymmdd type of output using derived column transformation and this transformation doesnot recognise CONVERT function. this is what iam trying to do 2007-01-01 00:00:00.000 to 20070101
