Filtering A Report On A DateTM Field Using A Parameter If Possible?

I am currently writing a report that will use as one of the filters the date (in this case it is the date of service of a physician office visit).
however the DB developers included the date and the time of the visit in one field so my resulting data set contains 4/13/2007 4:30pm for example, so using an @date parameter as a filter on the data field doesn't work because when you run the report and enter the date in the parameter it doesn't return anything.
I am an SQL Report writer amateur so I am sure there is an easy fix, any and all help will be appreciated.

I have a gridview connected to a sqldatasource, and it works pretty good. It gives me the subsets of the information that I need. But, I really want to let them choose all the companies and/or any status. What's the best way to get all the values in the gridview...besides removing the filters :)
I thought the company would be easy, I'd just set the selected value to blank "", and then it'd get them all....but that's not working. And, for the boolean, I have no idea to get the value without having a separate query.

I want multiple parameter on report.
One of which is a mCategoryname field which is appearing in the combo.[and working fine ]
Now there should be another parameter whichwould take date parameter [yyyy-mm-dd]
User should not able to enter invalid date.
Both parameter should be necessary.
How can i do that ?

Hello,
I have a report where I'm showing a list of users to select.
When previewing the report, the width of the field is automatically set to the largest label in the dropdown list.
But when I change the parameter to have "Multi-Values", then the width is set to a fixed value and a horizontal scrollbar appears.
Does anyone know how to have a "Multi-Values" parameter, but keeping the lasgest width of the labels in the dropdown list ?

Hello,
I have a report which displays a customers invoice, in both the companys local currency, and the customers local currency.
The report language is "English (United Kingdom)"
The fields showing customers currency language setting is set to something else, i.e. "France (French)" to display the Euro currency.
The application handles 34 currencies, the query returns the language string, ("France (French)"), to allow the report to bind its language setting to the querys output.
However, it doesn't work, a normal textbox will display the correct country name string, but Reporting Services cannot bind the language setting to a query result. So I also tried setting it as a report parameter, but no joy either (all currencys revert to USD).
I'm using =First(Fields!curFormat.Value, "myDataSet") to bind the 'language' setting, the result of this expression returns "France (French)", which is a valid option for this language setting, as it's in the drop down list.
Rather than create 34 seperate reports for each currency, are there any suggestions on how to bind a fields language setting to a query result?

Is it possible to poplulate some control like Dropdownlist (for example, with Product names Or Product Ids) from database table in SSRS project type and then filter report by choosing various choice pre-populated in dropdownlist control.
Project Type is : SQL Server Reportings 2005.
Desired Action: Report will run in browser, User will choose specific product and Run the report(filter) to show that product relate results.

Hello,
I have built a report using a Cube (and not a relational database).
I have a date as a parameter and I would like to filter its content: the parameter goes from 1900 to 2090 and I would like the user to see only from 2006 to 2090.
Can you help me by giving me tricks to do it ? There may have several ways of doing it but I can't find them.

Hello, I have a report in which I would like to give the user the ability to select how a parameter is filetered.
Option 1 would be to filter by a range of value ie: WHERE member.age BETWEEN (@Start) AND (@End)
-say everyone between the ages of 50 through 80
Option 2 would be to filter by specific but multiple values ie: WHERE member.age IN (@Age)
-say anyone who is 25, 50 and 75.

Hey all,
I want to set a filter in my statement. Normally it is no problem, but this time I want to set a filter only on a part of the field.
For example:
In my table with ordernumbers, I have orders with are starting with 'FO', VO' (FO0001, FOO0002, VO0001, VO0002, ect etc)
I want to set a filter in my statement that I only wish to see the ordernumbers starting with 'FO'.

I want to set a filter on a field, but the it must set a filter on a part of the field. I think it will be more clear with an example:

etc. etc.

Now you may think I'm crazy to do such a thing, but this actually has to do with adding a Denomination Dropdown to show Denominations from all states or all cities. I will figure out the best logic for that later, I just want to know the wildcard to pass to the parameter to choose all states (negate filtering).

In my report I want an optional parameter to filter all records with a specific field that is not blank. I tried several scenario's without result...
In the parameter I want to set a text value like "exampletext".
In the filter I want a check: if the parameter value is "exampletext", only show the records where field "abc" is not blank.
On the tab Filters from the Table properties I can set three values: Expression, Operator and Value.

Hello, I am trying to use a boolean parameter to filter data in a table, but there is something I am missing.
Basically I want something like this:
I have a boolean parameter, "EP", and I have a filter set on my table as:
Expression Operator Value
=Fields!REFERRAL_SOURCE.Value = IIF (Parameters!EP.Value, "1297", ????)
Using the filter tab, I can't specify an expression for the 'Operator' so I was trying to work it out using either '=' or 'like'. What needs to go into the ???? in order for the referral source to be "not 1297" (i.e. the inverse of the filter)?
Or, am I completely missing an easy way to do this?

Our phone system keeps a list of events, such as login and logout, which I'm doing a self join on to get the start and end times so I can calculate the time between the start and end of each event during a time period.
Then I stuffed the self joins into a couple views for the events I'm interested in...
The problem is that this makes the "end time" a calculated field, so when I use it as part of the filter it takes forever. I need to account for events ending within the time period, and events starting within the time period... so I need to filter on both the start and end time in the initial select. Filtering the start time first in a subselect, then the end time in the main select is quick but can lose things that started before the start time.
So how can I speed up the filtering on that calculated column?
Or am I going to have to get really creative with unions?

Hello,
I am looking at writing a SP without much success which enables multiple filtering on one field. Something like below:
Input field: Product Description
So if the user enters: "Large Drill" OR "Drill Large" the same resultset will be returned.
SELECT * FROM products WHERE products.prod_desc contains both "Large" AND "Drill"
I guess there'll need to be a nested Select and loop to parse the space separated input field.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi,I have a date/time field in a SQL2000 database, and what I would liketo do is to filter on a specific part of the field, for example thetime or hour.Supposing I have a set of data for the last 5 years and would like tofilter out any records which are outside working hours i.e. I wouldlike to show records where the time is between 9am and 5pm.Does anyone know if there is a simple way to do this in SQL? I have an MS Access 2002 application that is distributed to a number of PCs around our office. The data for this application is stored on a central SQL Server that is linked in through ODBC.
This application has been in place for two years and working fine. We recently formatted and restored a PC, and now that particular PC has issues with the Access application.
Every time it tries to filter one of the linked SQL tables on a date field, Access goes unresponsive and GPFs out. If it's in a query that is behind a report, I get the old standard 'Catastrophic Failure'. If I open the table and right-click filter or run a query manually, Access GPFs.
I've tried recreating the ODBC, linking the tables through TCP/IP as well as Named Pipes. Nothing fixes it. All Windows and Office updates have been applied. This is not the first time we've reformatted a PC in the office, but we've never had this issue.
Has anyone run across this before?

Request is to have a Requirement number from the requirement form generate a report in Reporting Services with the requirement number as a filter.

In a dataset for a report, one of the column is "age group" with 6 different type of 10-year age groupings, <40, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. I am having a hard time to filter in/out the "<40" and "80+" in the report. SSRS does not seem to understand the "<" and "+" in a string. I need to be able to filter in/out one/both of this two age groupings on some matrix table. Any suggestion. Thanks.

I am unable to find any features within Report Builder that allow either the aggregate First() function or something akin to a SELECT "TOP X". Can either of these functions be mimicked in Report Builder?
How about creating decile reports, IE - average sales for my top 10%, next 10%, etc down to bottom 10%

I am creating custom reports from TFS data in Report Builder 3.0. What I am trying to do is make it possible to run the report and then filter on something and only display those results. For example.. I have created a report with Project Name, Deployment Dates.
The report returns all the project names with a particular type of work item with a planned release date. I would like to be able to drop down and select a particular project name and only display results from that project. By default, I do want all the projects to display but want the possibility to select a specific project.
Do I go to dataset properties of the project name field and add an expression under the filters section?Do I also need a parameter?

We are using xml to pull data from a custom sharepoint list into sql 2005. We have set a parameter that allows the user to filter the data by surname, however when the user tries to filter the list the drop down box brings up a list of every record, so there are duplicate entries for each surname.
Is there a way of filtering this so that there is only one instance of the users surname instead of it showing all the records?
Any help would be much appreciated.
