Find All Chars In Table That Are ASCII Code 128 And Greater
Dec 12, 2007
Does anyone know how to query a field in a table where it contains an
ASCII code >= 128 - without looping through every field for every
record in table (using charindex)?
Ex of char I would like to find: ü which is char(252)
I have a column of varchar(2000) but when I use it in a select statement I only get the first 255 characters displayed. (all the data is there as I can see different parts using substring) How do I get the complete column to display?
hi all, I'm after a way to produce a single-lined output of a char/varchar string replicated over 8000 times.
basically I've been given a task to create a stored procedure which can accept any integer to replicate a string X times.
From what I've read the replicate() fn will covert to varchar of max 8000 bytes.
I've thought about creating a UDF to accept the varchar and int and run a loop to keep outputting but 'print' will pass an endline to the buffer which is no good for my loop.

I want to identify the list of alt codes available in the table.
I have a table that is made up of the sum of medical, mental health and pharmacy claims. I would like to query that to find instances when the sum of the three claims types are greater than a predetermined threshold.
For example: Patient 1 Medical = 10,000 (could be 10 records at 1,000 each) Patient 1 Mental Health = 5,000 Patient 1 Pharmacy = 15,000 Patient 2 Medical = 1,000 Patient 2 Mental Health = 0 Patient 2 Pharmacy = 500
Threshold is 25,000
If I queried the above sample table I would get one record: Patient 1 30,000 - because 10,000+5,000+15,000 = 30,000 and is greater than the threshold.
I am not sure that a having clause would work though.
I have to find the latest file in a folder and export data to a table in sql server. The code should be something that has to be incorporated into a t-sql stored procedure.
The file name would for example abc_defYYYYMMDD.xls. would i be able to find the latest file in the folder using the the datestamp (YYYYMMDD) in the filename.
Please note i would have files in other format and names with datestamp attached to it, so the code has to pick specific file for which the file name starts with 'abc_def'
I receive the error " [OLE DB Destination [1907]] Warning: Truncation may occur due to inserting data from data flow column "GENDER" with a length of 255 to database column "GENDER" with a length of 2. " on the source flow.
I have done some googling and came up with this post: http://torontosql.dotnetnuke-portal.com/Default.aspx?tabid=32233 which I thought may help, but it does not.
The query against the access datasource features the column: iif([sex]=1, 'm', 'f'). I tried using left(..., 2) as well, but SSIS is determind to treat the field as 255 characters for some reason.
I don't even particualrly care that the field is 255 chars and the sources is only two, I just want the data in! I have other fields coming up with similar error.
Can someone please advise?
PS, what is th significance of the "External Columns" Vs "Output Columns" on the Input and Output Properties tab in Advanced Editor?
I am really struggling with SSIS, it is not as intuitive as DTS.
I need to strip some puntcuation from any field in a given table.I'd rather like to avoid using the replace () for each field in thetable.Anyone have a nifty way do this?Is there a special name that I can use in the replace that means theentire row?(other than syntax, something like REPLACE(@ROW,CHAR(39),'') )tiaRob
I have a detail table of comments. I need to grab the fist 50 characters from the comment field from this table. The kick is that I need to get the comments from all of the records in the detail table, as the comments might be less than 50 characters, so i need to pull the comments from the other comment records that apply to the master table record.
right now i have the comments in a join to the master table, but this is causing a few records to be returned....
I guess what i am looking for is a way to grab the comment value from the first record of the detail table.
I have a table in SQL Server 2000 which has few triggers. When I try to update a record in that table, I get following message:
Warning: The table '[TABLE_NAME]' has been created but its maximum row size (17275) exceeds the maximum number of bytes per row (8060). INSERT or UPDATE of a row in this table will fail if the resulting row length exceeds 8060 bytes.
where the data I am updating is well less than the field limit. The triggers are stored in syscomments table and when I dropped these triggers, the update statements were executed without this message. Is there anyway I can change the data type of field text in syscomments from nvarchar to ntext?
Table 1: AddressBook Fields --> User Name, Address, CountryCode
Table 2: Country Fields --> Country Code, Country Name
Step 1 : I have created a Cube with these two tables using SSAS.
Step 2 : I have created a report in SSRS showing Address list.
The Column in the report are User Name, Address, Country Name
But I have no idea, how to convert this Country Code to Country name.
I am generating the report using the Layout tab. ( Data | Layout | Preview ) Report1.rdl [Design]
Anyone help me to solve this issue. Because, in our project most of the transaction tables have Code and Code description in master table. I need to convert all code into corresponding description in all my reports.
Does anybody know where to find out the definition of all the SQL error code For example, What does error code 4002 means ? What does error code 3146 means ? Thanks.
Does anyone know where to find a simple sample showing you how to use asp.net 2.0 with the login control to direct you to another aspx page using SQL 2000 as the database on a hosted server? I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out and would be very appreciative if anyone knows a place out there that shows this? I can find many sites that show you how to do this with SQL 2005, but not SQL 2000. Thanks - Chris
We have a sql job type SSIS package that is not populating a database table as expected and I'm trying to figure what why not but I'm not sure where the "code" is. The person that created it said they copied a legacy package (sql 2000) and made modifications to it, then migrated it to the new version. When a legacy package is migrated is there a SSIS solution built? I see you can edit SSIS packages only in BI Development Studio but I'm not sure where to find package.
This post may answer my question but if you have any additional or updated information I'd like to hear it. http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=393634&SiteID=1
So, to view or edit the package you have to export it? Package location
Select the type of storage location to export the package to. The following options are available:
SQL Server
File System
SSIS Package Storage
So do you pick "File System" in order to view it in BI?
I have set the PrecompileScriptIntoBinaryCode property to true, but the Script Component show the message "can't find the binary code" after I finish the script language and save it . What's wrong with it ? I ever tried the same code, and it's OK with no problem. When did the problem happen ?
Is anyone has store procedure that find city and zipcode by radius (10 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles.......) and also table that has all zipcodes. I finded one, but it's look like very old one, not updated since 2005
I need to setup a script to read all the table names in the database above and then query the database to find the list of Stored Procedure using each table.(SQL Server)
I wrong a custom code in my report - Public shared Function Myfunc and in the header textbox - I tried to reference this code = Code.Myfunc.... the Myfunc gives an error Unrecognized identifier. The code is written in the report properties = Code Tab.
I have mysql type db in which I need computer to search for a key phrase of text that has several hundred occurances inside product table descriptions of products on live site. Once it finds the text, I would like for it to simply remove it, and look for the next occurance of the phrase and repeat the process until all are flagged and removed. I was told their may be a line of sql code that employs such a feature. Can anyone tell me what such a line would be?
Hi All,I use Bulk insert to put data to myTable. When the SQL server is in local machin, it works well. But when I putthe data in a sql server situated not locally, then I get a errormessage like this:Could not bulk insert because file 'C:Data2003txtfilesabif_20031130.txt' could not be opened. Operating systemerror code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).BULK INSERT myTableFROM 'C:Data2003 txtfilesabif_20031130.txt'with (-- codepage = ' + char(39) + 'ACP' + char(39) + ',fieldterminator = ';',rowterminator = '',keepnulls,maxerrors=0)Someone can explan me what the error shows upThanks in advance- Loi -
I have table 'stores' that has 3 columns (storeid, article, doc), I have a second table 'allstores' that has 3 columns(storeid(always 'ALL'), article, doc). The stores table's storeid column will have a stores id, then will have multiple articles, and docs. The 'allstores' table will have 'all' in the store for every article and doc combination. This table is like the master lookup table for all possible article and doc combinations. The 'stores' table will have the actual article and doc per storeid.
What I am wanting to pull is all article, doc combinations that exist in the 'allstores' table, but do not exist in the 'stores' table, per storeid. So if the article/doc combination exists in the 'allstores' table and in the 'stores' table for storeid of 50 does not use that combination, but store 51 does, I want the output of storeid 50, and what combination does not exist for that storeid. I will try this example:
'allstores' 'Stores' storeid doc article storeid doc article ALL 0010 001 101 0010 001 ALL 0010 002 101 0010 002 ALL 0011 001 102 0011 002 ALL 0011 002
So I want the query to pull the one from 'allstores' that does not exist in 'stores' which in this case would the 3rd record "ALL 0011 001".
I want to insert a row for a Global user in Table 'A' whenever ADO.Net code inserts a Local user row into same table. I recommended using a trigger to implement this functionality, but the DBA was against it, saying that stored proecedures should be used, since triggers are unreliable and slow down the system by placing unecessary locks on the table. Is this true OR the DBA is saying something wrong? My thinking is that Microsoft will never include triggers if they are unreliable and the DBA is just wanting to offload the extra DBA task of triggers to the programmer so that a stored procedure is getting called, so he has less headache on his hands. Thanks
