Analysis :: Find Date Ranges On Members And SUM

Jul 24, 2015

I've got two measure groups with a dimension (Dimension A) that is related to one measure group but not the other. I want to find the date ranges of the members of an attribute in Dimension A in Measure Group 1 and apply that to Measure Group 2 in a calculation. This way I can find the sum of a measure from Measure Group A that falls within the time periods of the attributes in Measure Group B. Part of my MDX for this new calculated member starts like this, but doesn't work.

WITH MEMBER [Measures].[New Measure] ASĀ
IIF( ISEMPTY ([Measures].[Measure 1]), NULL,
SUM(([Date].[Hour].[Hour], [Dimension A].[Attribute].[Attribute]), [Measures].[Measure 2]))

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Pulling Records From A Table Between Date Ranges In Another Table

Mar 17, 2014

This seems simple enough but for some reason, my brain isn't working.

I have a lookup table:

Table A: basically dates every 30 days

1/1/2014
2/3/2014
3/3/2014
4/3/2014

I have Table b that has records and dates created assocated with each record

I want all records that fall between the 1st 30 days to have an additional column that indicates 30

union

records with additional column indicating 60 days that fall between the 30 and 60 day

union

records with additional column indicating 90days that fall between the 60 and 90 day mark.

Is there an easy way to do this?

SQL Server 2012 :: Join To Find All Records From One Table That Do Not Exist In Other Table

Apr 29, 2014

I have table 'stores' that has 3 columns (storeid, article, doc), I have a second table 'allstores' that has 3 columns(storeid(always 'ALL'), article, doc). The stores table's storeid column will have a stores id, then will have multiple articles, and docs. The 'allstores' table will have 'all' in the store for every article and doc combination. This table is like the master lookup table for all possible article and doc combinations. The 'stores' table will have the actual article and doc per storeid.

What I am wanting to pull is all article, doc combinations that exist in the 'allstores' table, but do not exist in the 'stores' table, per storeid. So if the article/doc combination exists in the 'allstores' table and in the 'stores' table for storeid of 50 does not use that combination, but store 51 does, I want the output of storeid 50, and what combination does not exist for that storeid. I will try this example:

'allstores' 'Stores'
storeid doc article storeid doc article
ALL 0010 001 101 0010 001
ALL 0010 002 101 0010 002
ALL 0011 001 102 0011 002
ALL 0011 002

So I want the query to pull the one from 'allstores' that does not exist in 'stores' which in this case would the 3rd record "ALL 0011 001".

Suppress A Row In A Table (mailing Address Report) - Suppress Like CR.

Mar 28, 2006

i'm retrieving addresses from a database and displaying them in my report. i have an addr line 2 for addition address data if needed. i have placed this addr line 2 on its own detail row. however i do not want that row to display if there is no data. the following is happening even though i have set the visibility on the row and text field to =iif(fields!addr2="",false,true)

the name prints on the first line, the main address on the second line, i have a space where addr line 2 would have been, finally i get the city, state, zip on the last line.

expected outcome i would like is that addr line 2 does not appear for those addresses that addr line 2 does not have any data. if addr line 2 does have data then print.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

How To Find Max From A Table By Row

Jul 23, 2005

I have a Product table with the columnsAcctNumProdCodeInvoiceDateI can have multiple rows for a given AcctNum:123 A 01/01/2005123 B 01/02/2005123 C 01/03/2005234 C 02/01/2004345 A 01/01/2005345 B 01/02/2005I need the max(InvoiceDate) and if the max for a given AcctNum is a ProdCode= B. So if the latest InvoiceDate is for a given AcctNum is B then returnthat row.123 B 01/02/2005Would not be returned because the max Invoice date for AcctNum 123 isProdCode C.345 B 01/02/2005Would be returned because the max Invoice date for AcctNum 345 is ProdCodeB.I can solve this using a cursor fairly easily by using a distinct AcctNum inthe cursor select and getting the max InvoiceDate for each AcctNum. This isa costly and I'm looking for a solution using temp tables or a query tohandle this problem.I hope I have made this clear enough (sorry if I was too verbose). Thanks inadvance for your help.-p

How To Find Out The PK From A Table?

Sep 1, 2006

Dear all experts,

I need to find out some property of a tableAs following sql statement:
select mtable.name,mcolumn.name,mtype.name,mcolumn.is_identity
from sys.tables mtable, sys.all_columns mcolumn, sys.types mtype
where mcolumn.object_id = mtable.object_id
and mcolumn.system_type_id = mtype.system_type_id
and mtable.name in ('TestTable')
order by mtable.name,mcolumn.column_id

But there is no PK information.
Follwing sql statement shows the PK name of a table, but no composite info(which fields):
select mtable.name,mkey.name
from sys.key_constraints mkey, sys.tables mtable
where mkey.parent_object_id = mtable.object_id
and mkey.type = 'PK'
and mkey.name like 'TestTable'

How can I find which fields are PK in a table?thanks...

Ranges As Columns

Aug 10, 2006

Im trying to get a table where the columns are a range of dollars spent...

Code:

$1 - $24 $25 - $49 $50 - $74
01-12 Month 5,000 6,000 6,200
13-24 Month 7,000 8,800 9,120

-------------------------

This is what i have so far. It gives me one value. Of course I can run it a bunch of times changing the values, but im just curious if there is a way to do it all at once.

---------------------

Code:

SELECT COUNT(transaction_header.transaction_id) AS CustID
FROM transaction_header INNER JOIN
Northwind.dbo.Ttype ON
transaction_header.transaction_type =
Northwind.dbo.Ttype.transaction_type
WHERE (Northwind.dbo.Ttype.Cat2 = 'CATALOG' OR
Northwind.dbo.Ttype.Cat2 = 'ECOM') AND (DATEDIFF(mm, transaction_header.transaction_date, { fn NOW() }) < 13)
AND
(transaction_header.total_net_retail BETWEEN 1 AND 24)

Thanks,

Grouping In Ranges

Jul 1, 2004

Table:

SomeFKID <pk>
StartDateTime <pk>
EndDateTime
SomeValue

Example Scenario:

Data is stored hourly. So there would be 24 records for today for each SomeFKID. I need to be able to pass a TimeSpan (in minutes), a StartDateTime, and an EndDateTime to a stored procedure and return totals in the date range grouped by the TimeSpan. So if I want all records today grouped by 2 hour intervals I would need to pass:
7/1/2004 00:00:00, 7/1/2004 23:59:59, 120 --> and return 12 records one for hours 0-2, one for hours 2-4, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Wheatster

Ranges With Modifiers

The only problem is that the records can have modifiers on them. For example, a sample range I would want would be all records between 1008 and 1120. I can't use a between statement though because these records can end in modifiers, like 1009X or 1117B. How can I search for records within a range when they have modifiers such as above?

Time Ranges

Sep 24, 2007

Hello -

Building a small app for a school nurse......

Have a SP that takes 2 parameters (@login, @logout) both in the form of "convert(varchar,@Login,108)" or 08:00 AM, etc

What I need to do is then check to see:
1. What period did they login in?
2. What period did they logout in?
3. How much time in a period did they actually miss?

The ranges look like:
Set @Period1Start='08:20 AM'
Set @Period1End='09:10 AM'
Set @Period2Start='09:15 AM'
Set @Period2End='10:00 AM'
...
...
...

So.....
if @login = 08:30 AM and @logout = 08:45 then they missed 15 minutes of period 1

If @login = 08:30 AM and @logout = 09:45 then they missed 40 minutes of period 1 AND 30 minutes of period 2

Not knowing all of the time functions in SQl, I am looking for some ideas on how to accomplish this.

Thanks!

How To Find An Inserted Value In A Table

Apr 19, 2006

Hello,
I have 2 tables, and use objectdatasource and stored procedures, with sql server.
Let say in the first table I have IDCustomer as a datakey, and other records, and in the second I have the same IDCustomer and CustomerName.  I have an INSERT stored procedure that will create a new record in the first table (so generate a new IDCustomer value), and I would like to insert immediately this new value in the second table.
How can I know the value of this new IDCustomer ?  What is the best  way to handle that ? Once the insert in the first table is done should read it the table and extract (with an executescalar) the value and then insert it in the second table ? This solution should work but I am not sure this is the best one.
Thanks for your help.

How To: Find Cols In A Table

Jan 12, 2002

I'd like to know if I can make one proc/cursor that I can pass only a table name and it will determine what cols exist in the table?

AND, what is the syntax for such a query?

I will be receiving data back where I will receive the accountID and only the deltas will have values all other columns will be null.

My proc will update an existing record, updating the specific col when an accountID exists, it will create a new record if the accountID does not exist.

I'd like to search all the cols getting their names and values when not null.

I can construct a proc for each table searching each col by known name.

However, I'd like to know if I can make one proc/cursor that I can pass only a table name and it will determine the cols?

All my tables start with cols AccountID and end with RecID with any number of cols inbetween.

TIA
