Ok, lets see if I can put what I am looking for into words.
I run a MSSQL server, I show in my logs that a connection is being made to my server from a remote ip. I have contact the owner of the ip in question and they state that they have no buisness with us and they should not be connected to us. According to netstat the connection to us is established on 2 different remote ports to 1433. My question, is there any logging on sql that I can turn on, look at to see what database this connection is accessing? Thanks
I have recently upgraded to SQL2014 on Win2012. The Access front end program works fine.
But, previously created Excel reports with built in MS Queries now fail with the above error for users with MS 2013. The queries still work for users still using MS 2007.
I also cannot create any new queries and get the same error message. If I log on as myself on the domain to another PC with 2007 installed it works fine, so I don't think it is anything to do with AD groups or permissions.

I've installed SQL 2005 Express Addition which created a default database using Windows Authentication -- MachineName/SQLEXPRES. I want to convert some access databases to sql server in the migration assistant, however, when I try to connect the migration assistant to the default database I can't find the database in the drop down box wizard? I'm perplexed? Please shed some light or point me to some articles that will help. Thanks.
I need detailed instructions on how to connect to a database from a Microsoft Access 2007 database to a Microsft Office Accounting 2007 database. The accounting database is an SQL 2005 datbase. It has an instance name of "MSSMLBIZ".
When I try I get an SQL error 53. Do not have permissions or database does not exist.
I have a SQL Server 2005 database hosted by a provider that has about 500 databases on their site. I am running Access2007 on a Windows 7 Home Premium edition.
What I am trying to do is create a new Access2007 application and attach (i.e: Link) to the SQL Server tables. I am using SQL Authentication.
I have done this before where i attached via ODBC to Oracle, but it was on the corporate network - not on a hosted server. When i try to walk thru the Access process, it does not seem to let me give it the database name. I have the connection string i use in C# (for example: Data Source, Initial Catalog, UserID and Password), how to connect with Access2007.
Dear all if i want to write one program use vc++2005 to connection access database with MFC system , which idea is best. does any sample code i can use in this case or any concept i can read it first?
I am very new to VB.Net but my goal is to build a web app that ineracts with an Access database. This is a very small scale app so I am not interested in using SQL server. I created my Access database and the udl file for connection information.
I created a class that opens a connection to the database when the webpage loads.
I get the following error though,
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was unhandled by user code ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message="The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'C:InetpubwwwrootTest1RaceData.mdb'. The database is not open so I know it is a matter of security. I have configured IIS to use an admin account and the Access db does not have security turned on. In the UDL file I have selected read/write access and the test connection works.
Can anyone help me narrow down the root of this error,
I want to create a report from Access Database. Can anybody tell me how to connect and create a data source from Access data source. A step by step guide is preferable. I am more concerned on the connection string.
I was doing the microsoft example about cube to setup DSN SOURCE CONNECTION to ACCESS database (food mart) when i do a test
but after i do design storage and go to Process the cube it gives me error
'test connection failed because of an error in initializing provide (microsoft) ODBC DRIVER manager data source name not found and no default driver specified

I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this posting. Looking at the descriptions, it appeared to be the best choice.
I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have installed the SQL Native Client for XP. However, when I try to add a new data source through ODBC Connection Manager, SQL Native Client is not listed as an option. I have followed this procedure on three other systems with no problems. What would be causing the SQL Native Client to not show up in the list of available ODBC data sources?
I am receving this error: Failed to open the connection: [Database Vendor Code: 17 ], from .Net 2003/C# to Crystal Report XI with SQL Server 2000 has backend database.
Is there a security permission that has been overlooked?
//Get Table inf from report DB = reportDocument..Database; tables = DB.Tables;
//Looping through all the tables in CR and apply connection info for(int i = 0; i < tables.Count; i++) { table = tables[ i ]; tableLogOnInfo = table.LogOnInfo; tableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo; table.ApplyLogOnInfo(tableLogOnInfo);
The problem that I am having is that with Visual Web Developer I am creating a webpage and having it directly put online, so for example when I start a new ASP.NET page, I select the location to be HTTP, with the location http://MYWEBSERVER/Website and for the language and Visual BasicI notice a couple of things, first that there is no longer a a link under the Main toolbar "Website" selection called the ASP.NET configuration. So how can I configure what I want to have users be able to do? It seems that this choice is only available if I am building the ASP.NET page on my "localhost". So that is the first problem. So I am able to get the pages to work, atleast the things such as the textboxes to show up etc, (Even things as advanced as the "Login" box). How ever when I try to get someone to try to login I am taken to a page that has an server error. The error is: "The SSE Provider did not find the database file specified in the connection string. At the configured trust level (below High trust level), the SSE provider can not automatically create the database file. " The Stack Trace Errors are at the bottom. I think this is happening because the automatically generated databases are not getting built online as they are on my computer. On my computer I have MSSQL express. So either the databases are not getting built for some reason, (and I think that is the case as I don't see any in the folder). So I think that somehow I have to create a database on my server, and then somehow configure the ASP.NET file, perhaps in the Web.Config file to look for that new database. Is this the correct methodology? Is there some simpler way that I can just somehow upload things as they are and have them work correctly on my server? The error says that either the Server did not find the database or that the trust level was insufficient. I don't think that is it as I just looked again and I don't see any .MDF files. So how would I go about getting this to work right? Is there a way to do this with MySQL also? So that I don't have to use MSSQL? My server only allows 1 DataBase for that. Thanks and I hope my question makes sense. It is basically how can I get it to be able to create and check users etc. online? create a new Connection Manager by right-clicking in the Connection Managers section of the design area of the screen. Select New OLE DB Connection to bring up the Configure OLE DB Connection Manager dialog box. Click New to open the Connection Manager. In the Provider drop-down list, choose the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider and click OK. Browse to the Access database file and connection set up---all good!!!
Dataflow task Add an OLE DB Source component Double-click the icon to open the OLE DB Source Editor. Set the OLE DB Connection Manager property to the Connection Manager that I created . Select Table from the Data Access Mode drop-down list. I cannot see the tables set up as set up as pass-through table types to a Oracle 9i db
I am using sqljdbc41.jar to connect with MSSQL database, it is working fine on my local machine.Where as on the remote server, same class giving me error
Login failed for user '<domain><windows loginID>' My connection string is URL...
I am using sqljdbc41.jar and on 64 bit processor , I am using following command which included path for sqljdbc_auth.dll java -Djava.library.path= C: sqljdbc_4.1enuauthx64 TestDao and error is Login failed for user '<domain><windows loginID>' why it is not picking up username passed in connection string. I have 2 machines, one is local and other is remote. on both machine I login using my domain, it is working absolutely fine on local then why the error is coming on remote machine. Both the machines are identical.
I added a connection (ADO.NET) object by name testCon in the connection manager - I wanted to programmatically supply the connection string. So I used the "Expressions" property of the connection object and set the connectionstring to one DTS variable. The idea is to supply the connection string value to the variable - so that the connection object uses my connection string.
Then I added a "Backup Database Task" to my package with the name BkpTask. Now whenever I try to set the connection property of BkpTask to the testCon connection object, by typing testCon, it automatically gets cleared. I am not able to set the connection value.
Then after spending several hours I found that this is because I have customized the connection string in testCon. If I don't customize the connection string, I am able to enter the "testCon" value in the connection property of the BkpTask.
I have a database with 150 tables. I need to find connections between specified tables. (I need to find through what fileds and tables are table1 and table2 connected) Is there any tool in SQL Server for this?
I, just like others, am experiencing problems with data leaks. I was wondering if anyone knows of a tool out there that can help pinpoint the pages with problems? I basically want to find the culprits!
I am using the SSIS Import & Export Wizard to make packages importing data from Access 2003 into SQL Server2005.
In the Access database I am using, there are about 100 tables and 4 select queries.
When I ran the SSIS wizard, it found the first query fine, and the package was made successfully.
Now, I need to make a package to import data using one of the other select queries (it has two subqueries.)
When I run the wizard, the "Select Source Tables and Views" dialog opens and shows all 100 tables, plus only two of the queries, not all 4. Two are missing, including the one I need to do the import.
I cannot see why these two queries would be excluded. One is a compound query (the one I need) the other is not. Is there a limit to the number of objects the dialog can show?
If anybody has had this problem please let me know. For now it's a real show stopper.
Hi, my first question, tried to use search first but couldnät find what I need.
Hopefully someone has asuggestion.
I work for a ISV producing HR applications.
When user starts the applications the program shows all databases that the user have access to. This is done by select all names from master..sysdatabases and then trying to "USE dbname" to see if user have access,. Users doesn't have sa rights.
This procedure takes approximately 90 secs for a server with 500 databases and that has become a problem.
Does anyone know off a faster method, any suggestions?
We have been asked to look into using stored procedures with SQL Server 7.0 as a way to speed up a clients site. 99% of all the articles I have read along with all the books all say Stored Procedure should be used whenever possible as opposed to putting the SQL in your ASP script. However one of my colleagues has been speaking to Microsoft and they said that that they were surprised that our client wanted to use Stored Procedures as this was the old method of database access and that now he should really consider using COM objects for data access as itis much faster. Has anyone got any views on this or know of any good aticles regarding this matter ?
I'm trying to re-write my database to de-couple the interface (MS Access) from the SQL Backend. As a result, I'm going to write a number of Stored Procedures to replace the MS Access code. My first attempt worked on a small sample, however, trying to move this on to a real table hasn't worked (I've amended the SP and code to try and get it to work on 2 fields, rather than the full 20 plus). It works in SQL Management console (supply a Client ID, it returns all the client details), but does not return anything (recordset closed) when trying to access via VBA code. The Stored procedure is:-
USE [VMSProd] GO /****** Object: StoredProcedure [Clients].[vms_Get_Specified_Client] Script Date: 22/09/2015 16:29:59 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
Hello, I'm trying to access the MSSQl 'remotey'. I open telnet and go to 127.0.0.1 1433 but can't. It seems I have done everything I can to fix it, but nothing solves the problem.
My firewall is disabled.
I have TCP/IP enabled in "SQL Server Configuration Manager" for both Client Protocol and protocols for MSSSQLSERVER (Shared Memory and NAmed Pipes are also both enabled). VIA is disabled.
In SQL Services, SQL Server Integration Services, Full Text Searc, SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services, and Server Browser are running. SQL Server Agent is disabled.
In Server Surface Area configuration, under Database Engine is running (automatic) and "Remote Connections" is enabled to TCP/IP and named pipes. Analysis Service has Local and Remote connections checked and is running (automatic). SQL Server agent is stopped.
Integration Services is running (Automatic) SQL Server Browser is running. (Automatic)
When I look in the error log, it shows...

Hi all, When I try to open a connection it gives me error "Stored Procedure sp_sdidebug not found" Can anyone help me in this respect? I was running the same application with the SQL Server 2005 only earlier when it was running. But now after I reinstalled VS.NET & SQL Server I am getting this error. What could be the problem?
I developed a database with Access 2003 and everything was working good until my tech came in and reformated my hard drive and install a new Ghost image that met our company standards.
Now I cannot go in and make any changes to any of the tables, queries and forms. All of this started when a new Ghost image was installed on my pc.
The message I get when I try to open my database is "You do not have permission to run "tblSwitchboard." I get the same error message when I try to do anything at all on the database.
Edited by haidar_bilal - Please place your code within < code > and < /code > tag. Thank you. I've got to convert the following functions so it connects to the SQL server that uses this connection string: ("server=(local);database=BCA;Trusted_Connection=yes")
The code below works fine to an Access db. I know I've got to change all the Ole objects below to SQL objects to connect to SQL server. But try as I might, I'm still not getting them right. Can anyone help by showing me how to change the code? Please just take the code and substitute the SQL connection strings for the Access string. That way even I could understand it. Sigh.

Hello,I am trying to develop a database solution for an organisation inIndonesia. This organization has a number of offices and users throughout thecountry. They all need to maintain their own data, but I also need tocreate a central database, to store all of the data, and share databetween the individual users. The problem is that the internetconnections are not reliable, so a online solution isn't possible. Iam planning to implement stand alone databases in Access, which "sync"with the central server. This sync could happen automatically (maybedaily), or could be initiated by the user. This Sync would/could takeplace when the internet connection is working.I am very familiar with Access, but I suspect that I will need to useSQL Server for the central database. I have not used SQL Serverbefore, and have a few questions:Is it possible to host a SQL Server, so that it is "Online"? What do Ineed to do for this? Does this need to be hosted by an ISP, or couldit been hosted on a computer in our office? What are the securityconsiderations? Is it then possible to connect to this SQL Server from the Accessdatabases in the various locations to "Sync" the data? If I could runSQL statements from the stand alone databases which could access theonline SQL Server I could write the code for the Sync procedure. Thebit that I am unsure of is how to connect to the SQL Server?Could anyone point me in the right direction? Examples? References? What sort of technology to use?I know VB and how to write SQL statements, it's just the connectivitythat I am unsure of.Thanks in advance.CheersMichael
hi ,all what should i do to connect db file on the server ,
at first i putted the file in shared folder and i connected from server explorer . iam not satisfied with this solution i want more professional one (ODBC,......,ect) what is the best way .
