Apr 19, 2000I would like to know does it exist a relation between number of licenses (per server) entered when installing SQL Server and the maximum of connections obtained by @@MAX_CONNECTIONS ? how can i get the information about the number of licenses after the installation ? Thanks.

Apr 19, 2000I was told that there is no relationship between max_connections and number of licences. So how can i know when the number of user connections exceeds the number of licenses per server (with the error 18458 - the maximum simultaneous user count of %d licenses for this server has been exceeded)? Because I did some tests by openning a number of connections greater than my number of licenses and i didn't get any error.

now my question is that how many SQL Server licenses will we require if we are going to use it for the web?
We currently hold 20 licenses.

Find First Free Number

Col1 Col2
1 1000
2 1001
4 1003
5 1004
7 1006
I want to find the first free number from first column.
Now It should return 3.
After inserting a row with col1 = 3 it should return 6 and after inserting a row with col1 = 6 it should return 8.
Is it posible ?
SP To Find A Gap In A Number Field
Feb 13, 2008I have a part number field which contains whole numbers. (1 - 5000+) however there are gaps in the numbers e.g. Part Number 3876 maybe missing. The table has new parts inserted from a VB Client. Im trying to write a stored procedure where when a user trys to run an update without entering a part number the first missing part number is found. If they do provide a part number then their number is committed as long as it is unique. I've tried using cursors but am not sure on the best approach. Any suggestions?

I have developed a system which has SQL server as a backend... Reading Microsofts Licensing required i m a bit puzzled if a CAL license is required for each user that is created on my system. i.e. If my system has 5 users, do i need 5 CAL licences.. however, in order to present the required data to these users i log to SQL server with the same single account.
