Patients (patid) have multiple records. I am trying to find the lowest nadcd4 for each patient along with the associated cddate. I can do a min(nadcd4) and find the lowest nadcd4 by patid but I can't seem to get the associated cddate. Any suggestions? Thanks
Please help! I'm really stuck. I have a table (AssessorAllocations) that stores the data of students who have submitted assessments for marking by an Assessor. Each time an assessment is submitted by a student my program must determine which Assessor has the smallest workload and then assign the current assessment to that Assessor. My problem is how do I determine which Assessor has the smallest number of assessments assigned to him/her.
So I'm looking for something like this: Select AssessorRegistrationNo from AssessorAllocations where {Select the Assessor who has the smallest number of AssessmentNames assigned to him/her where Marked='0' and DateAssigned<>''}
I need find out the number of columns in flat file before i process that particular file.I have file name in @filename variable and file path is @filepath variable. But do not not that how i will check the column name in before i will process that file.

I am currently designing a SSIS package to integrate data into a data warehouse fact table. This fact table has about 70 columns among which 17 are foreign keys for dimension tables.
To insert data in that table, I have to make several transformations and lookups. Given the fact that the lookups I have to make are a little complicated, I have about 70 tasks in my Data Flow. I know it's a lot, but I can't find a way to make it simpler. It seems I really need all these tasks.
Now, the problem is that every new action I try to make on the package takes a lot of time. At design time, everything is very slow. My processor is eavily loaded each time I change a single setting in one of the tasks, and executing the package in debug mode takes for ages. If I take a look at the size of my package file on disk, it's more than 3MB.
Hence my question : Are there any limitations in terms of number of columns or number of tasks that can be processed within a Data Flow ?
If not, then do you have any idea why it's so slow ?
I am working on a Statistical Reporting system where:
Data Repository: SQL Server 2005 Business Logic Tier: Views, User Defined Functions, Stored Procedures Data Access Tier: Stored Procedures Presentation Tier: Reporting ServicesThe end user will be able to slice & dice the data for the report by
different organizational hierarchies different number of layers within a hierarchy select a organization or select All of the organizations with the organizational hierarchy combinations of selection criteria, where this selection criteria is independent of each other, and also differeBelow is an example of 2 Organizational Hierarchies: Hierarchy 1
Country -> Work Group -> Project Team (Project Team within Work Group within Country) Hierarchy 2
Client -> Contract -> Project (Project within Contract within Client)Based on 2 different Hierarchies from above - here are a couple of use cases:
Country = "USA", Work Group = "Network Infrastructure", Project Team = all teams Country = "USA", Work Group = all work groups
How to implement the data interface (Stored Procs) to the Reports Implement the business logic to handle the different hierarchies & different number of levelsI did get help earlier in this forum for how to handle a parameter having a specific value or NULL value (to select "all") (WorkGroup = @argWorkGroup OR @argWorkGrop is NULL)
Any Ideas? Should I be doing this in SQL Statements or should I be looking to use Analysis Services.
I have met up a problem. How to i get the second smallest value instead of the smallest value in a table using min(). Any other function rather than min()?
I have a part number field which contains whole numbers. (1 - 5000+) however there are gaps in the numbers e.g. Part Number 3876 maybe missing. The table has new parts inserted from a VB Client. Im trying to write a stored procedure where when a user trys to run an update without entering a part number the first missing part number is found. If they do provide a part number then their number is committed as long as it is unique. I've tried using cursors but am not sure on the best approach. Any suggestions?
Can someone suggest a FAST way to select Currency values where the number has more than X decimal places? There are zillions of rows so looping in code is not the preferred solution.

I'm trying to find the SQL Server License Number used to install the software on the server. Does the installation program stores the information on the Registry or not? Looking through registry I found the ProductCode but I'm not sure if that is the valid License Number ... It does looks more like the unistall code ...
This procedure has been returning duplicate numbers. (Tested with scripts that called this proc and put value in a table.)
How can it return duplicates? Does the transaction Begin/Commit not guarantee transactional consistency?
