First Time User That Can't Find Answer. Need Online Website.

HI! Thank you for even looking at this question.
I need to get a website up and running for a small group of people. I've had SQL Server for a while, but didn't have any use for it. It came with Visual Studio 2005, which gave me a little know how on scripting. Now, I have Visual Web Developer and what I need to make a web page. I just need to know how to configure all my settings to allow my website to be viewed online by anyone with an internet connection. I'm a person that understands detailed or simple directions, but I can not seem to find directions online. Now, I know what your thinking, but I've never attemped anything like this before. So, please, HELP! I need and want to learn as much as possible.

Nobody helped me on other SQL forums, I hope here people are better. Here is my problem : I'm trying to uninstall replication before to re-install it (2 servers working on Windows NT and SQL 6.5 SP5). On the publisher server, I chose Server/Replication Configuration/Uninstall Publishing, but then, I'm not able to re-install publication, as the 'Install Publishing' option is disabled. I've found somewhere on the web that I had to remove the distribution option from the system, which disables replication, with the sp_ServerOption stored procedure :
sp_ServerOption "myserver", "dist", false
then I've deleted the distribution database, but all this didn't change anything, the 'Install Publishing' option is still disabled. How can I get the option enabled ?

i have a table of phonecall records detailing amongst other things the time and duration of the call. there is a relationship linking this table to a table of handsets and from there to a table of users. this users table lists the start date the user had the phone. as ever sample data might make this easier to show:

essentially i am trying to link the phonecalls to the user of the phone at the time of the call. i make the following assumptions regarding the data:
the user is responsible for all calls for a given handset from the 'startdate' until the next 'startdate' for a different user, if such a record exists, if not then for all calls after that date
How to find last login date/time for user DML acitivity on databases on Instance?
Is there any way we can find our the last login date/time for databases?
Note: 1. We can find if the SQL Trace is running and store.This is not good solution         2. Audit logins off/on is also not good solution.        3. Using DMV's also not good option, if reboot sql server instance then historical values can not see.

I'm building my first ever complete website in the ASP.net VB language and I have to say, I'm pretty happy that I was able to learn from this website and to gain some ground. Data retrieval and editing from tables and databases was very intuitive with the Visual Web Developer IDE. I even learnt simple ways to implement (and to script a bit of) login pages to make my visitors feel "at home" in my website.However, when I wanted to implement simple Business Logic into one of my ASP.net page, i happen to stumble upon a block.Business Logic: To have the server go through the whole table of storybook entries submitted by many users, but only pull out the storybook entry(s) that belong to the logged-on user.Hence, let me drill down to my specific questions:
I will be using VB. Coming from a JavaScript genre, my concern is: will putting the Business Logic code into a code-behind page (.vb) or dumping it onto the page itself have any errors or effects?
I need data fields in the page header. The report is multiple pages. I have multiple fields I need in the page header. These fields will change on each page.
I've tried everything I can find suggested on this forum. They all either don't work or work for a while. Then, as is the case today, we get a problem with a report that renders perfectly in the RS browser but when it's output to a PDF, a couple of the page headers become confused.
Why can't Microsoft provide a hack that actually works somewhere (Maybe I just can't find it)? A sticky at the top of the forum?

I really need to be able to make this work before I start throwing my toys from my pram and so my boss doesn't think I'm a complete idiot. I'm sure he doesn't believe me when I say I can't put data in a report header, after all it's only the most basic of reporting functions.
I am trying to setup alwayson on 2008r2 server on 2 instances in the same machine fort testing purpose. I installed 'Failover Cluster Manager' now I don't see 'Nodes' to add up.Should I run 'Validate a configuration Wizard'? or something else.. Can't find online to setup 'Alwayson' from the scratch...Will I able to setup 'Always on' on same server but different instances like mirroring? or has to be different servers?
Hi,I have 2 fields in a database: 'email' and 'website'.In the majority of cases, the website field is not populated even though theemail address is. In 90% of cases, the website will be 'www.' followed bywhatever is after the '@' symbol in the email address.Would anyone be able to help me with the SQL that would take whatever isafter the '@' sign in the email address, add it to 'www.' and populate the'website' field?Thanks!
Hello All, please be gentle im very new to this stuff.. So if i add a record via a sql datasource using the ConnectDB connection string it adds it the the sql 2005 database called intranet.... If i try to add to it using an onbuttonlick(Code Below) event it comes up with the "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. I have created a website using Visual Studio 2005 that runs in ASP.NET v2.0. In the debugging mode of VS2005 the site works just great and I use the ASPNETDB.MDF database to hold all of my user authentication data. Since I have deployed the website over to a remote server the authentication no longer works. I can access the first page of my website that is a login page but as soon as I attempt to log in with a valid user I receive an error message as below:

I copied all of my files in the website folder over to the corresponding folder on the remote server. I then installed MS SQLServer Express on the remote server. I'm suspect the problem is something to do with that ASPNETDB.MDF file. Please can somebody help? Is there anything else I need to do for the website to work as it did on my local machine? I have given the NETWORK SERVICES user full access on the website folder.
The SSRS website is slow when accessing it the first time after a period of inactivity (30 min. or longer). What could be causing this and how can I make it fast all the time.
I am trying to understand an environment and provide a solution to Banking system so that they can enter user data (transactions) online and at the same time we can provide users online reporting as well. Using same sql server or server/hardware on other machine.

I have built a site that uses form-based authentication. Am I correct in assuming that the users and passwords will be stored in the SQLServer database in the aspnetdb.mdf file? The website works great and the authentication works how I want it to. However, I've tried to copy over the file onto a remote machine. I'm brand new to web and ASP programming, but experienced with VB/VB.NET and SQL Server 2000 programming. I followed a tutorial and built a little website that lets you create a user login, login and change your password. I built this in Visual Studio 2005 using VB code and my understanding is that the site uses a SQLExpress database. There's an aspnetdb.mdf and .ldf file in the App_Data folder. I want to deploy the website to a web server that is hosting SQL Server 2005, not express. Can someone be explicit about steps to take in order to do that? I've been trying a number of things in the web.config file, but I cannot seem to make a connectionstring that works. I also don't know what to do with the .mdf and .ldf files from the development server--I'm thinking they should not be deployed. Thanks for anything.
I have a table which has a few fields, one being "datetime_traded". I need to write a query which returns the row which has the closest time (down to second) given a date/time. I'm using MS SQL.

But I get an error - "The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.".

I would like to ask if there will be a write and concurrency issue if i would create an online application with just one user connecting to the database, just like most open source php/mysql that can be downloaded
i.e Setup 1. I will grant a single user that will connect to a database and will be set to a config.inc.php file and then create a table users (userid, username, password) and this table will be used for the application authentication and access control.
Setup 2. or is it much better to grant users that will connect to the database and have the table users for access control of the application?
to further illustrate my query:

We have SQL cluster installed on top of windows cluster on VM environment. Node1 and Node2 under Windows Failover Cluster. SQL instance is currently on node2 the instance is up and running, but SQL Cluster service remains online pending and it restarts the instance on every 5 minutes.
SQL Browser service are running successfully.TCP/IP ports are enabled and configured.If we start the SQL server agent it is on for seconds and stopped immediately  .Cluster Service is attempt to connect to the SQL service every few minutes (setting in SQL cluster resource) for the IsAlive check, if this fails then the SQL resource is restarted even if the instance was online. Hope this is what happening exactly.

I am reading about the RESTORE command to a point in time using logs, I would like to know the minimum point in time recovery for a backup image using T-SQL command before applying a log restore and what are the log ranges needed for the restore during restore.
Being still a relative newcomer to SQL Server (people may say I'm trying to take on too much being somewhat inexperienced once they read about the problem I'm trying to tackle, but alas...) I'm running into the following problem: I need to create tables in my user database on the fly (using Stored Procedures) so that each table can be created many times in the database but only once for every user. The tables should be named something like "username.Table1", "username.Table2" etc. as opposed to "dbo.Table1". I then want to use the stored procedure from .NET/C# in my web application, so that i can create the complete set of usertables for each of my clients.
Now, I tackled the stored procedure part (that is, it creates all the tables I need with all the parameters I want) and am able to use it from my web application (which took some time to learn but proved quite easy to do), but I cannot seem to get it coupled to the current user (instead of the dbo). Every time I trie, the tables are created as dbo.Table1 and when I try to create a new set, it gives a warning ("table with name such and so already exists..."). I made sure to log in as an authenticated user (using forms authentication) before trying to create the tables but this gives the aforementioned result.
What am I doing wrong? I use Visual Web Developer Express, SQL Server 2005 Express and IIS version 5.1
I would like to know if there is a way to find out who changed a users roles/access WITHOUT using the audit function. For example, if a user account was created and given SA access then changed to read only, how can I find out who made that change? I tried searching for an answer, but kept getting no results. I'm thinking this may tie into the sys.sysusers view?
I am trying to migrate reporting services from SQL server 2000 to SQL 2005. I followed the migration steps listed in one of the TechNet documents. Installed SQL 2005 and SP2.
Backed up existing SQL 2000 databases and restored on SQL 2005.
Went to Configuration tool and then to the Database setup. Connected to SQL 2005.
Clicked on the Upgrade button. The upgrade fails and I always get the following errors:
"The database version (C.0.6.54) does not match your reporting services installation. You must upgrade your Reporting services database"
Then I get this exception:

I do not understand why it is looking for user 'RSExecRole', which is a role.
we have problems with our SQL Reporting Service 2012 (SSRS) server . We have setup Kerberos delegation between SSRS and the database server (SQL Server Always-on cluster) so users are authenticated down to the database. The issue occurs from time to time that SSRS loses the ability to delegate the user credentials to the database. At this point in time the Report Server logs contain rejected database connections because of ANONYMOUS logon. After restarting SSRS the problem is gone.

I do not understand the concepts and procedures to do Xcopy and User Instances for non-administrators completely-I do not know how to connect to databases and create database diagrams or schemas using the Database Explorer. I have a stand-alone Windows XP Pro PC. I have created a ChemDatabase with 3 dbo tables in the SQL Server Management Studio of my SQL Server Express and a website of my VWD Express application with an App_Data folder. I am not able to proceed to use Xcopy and user instance to bring the 3 dbo tables of ChemDatabase to my App_Data folder. Please help and give me some detailed procedures/instructions to bring the 3 dbo tables of ChemDatabase (or ChemDatabase itself) from the SQL Server Management Studio Express to the App_Data folder of the website of my VWD Express project? I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.

All software is installed on a single development pc. I have a SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition Database that I am using to test a new Accounting System. SQL Server 2000 is the required format. I would like to start developing some SRSS reports against that database. It was suggested that I install the SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, because I was told 2005 is less buggy and easier to use. I installed SRSS 2005, and only SRSS 2005, and used the Configuration Tool to get it configured properly, I think. I have green checks on everything except "Email Settings" and "Execution Account"
Now, I want to write some reports. BIDS is not under the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" program group, only "Configuration Tools". I was also told that I could use Visual Studio to write reports. I installed Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition. When I go start a new project, "Business Intelligence€? is not a project type or sub-type.
What do I need to do so I can either install BIDS or use VS 2005 to write reports?
