I am useing Store procedure..for my data in grid..
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[ProductZoneSearct]

I found some examples in other posts, but had problems getting them to work.
I just want to pass a parameter with value like '1,45,89' to the procedure, then loop through it to insert the relations.
(I´m using sql server 2000), had some problem with examples with strpos then.
Any hints ?

Well, I managed to write a Stored procedure that updates some records in the Northwind Database based on the ProductIDs passed to the SP as a list of strings. This is the Alter version of the SP:USE [Northwind]
GO
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[gv_sp_UpdatePOs] Script Date: 06/10/2007 12:07:54 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
ALTER PROC [dbo].[gv_sp_UpdatePOs]
(
@IDList varchar(500),
@ReorderLevel int,
@ProductName nvarchar(30)
)
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON
EXEC('Update dbo.Products
SET ReorderLevel = (' + @ReorderLevel + ') ,ProductName = (''' + @ProductName + ''')
WHERE ProductID IN (' + @IDList + ')')
END
----------------------
THis works fine inside Sql Server 2005 Query analyser.
But when I setup an aspx page with an objectDataSource inside the page attached to an xsd file where the Products table is located. When I try to add new query to the tableadapter inside the Products table and point to the stored procedure in the wizard I get this error: " the wizard detected the following problems when configuring TableAdapter query "Products" Details: Generated SELECT statement. Incorrect suntax near ')'.
Any help would be appreciated
And can someone convert it to support XML instead of list of strings. thanks.

Hello, I have a question on sql stored procedures.I have such a procedure, which returnes me rows with ID-s.Then in my asp.net page I make from that Id-s a string likeSELECT * FROM [eai.Documents] WHERE CategoryId=11 OR CategoryId=16 OR CategoryId=18.
My question is: Can I do the same in my stored procedure? Here is it:set ANSI_NULLS ON
set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
go
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[eai.GetSubCategoriesById]
(
@Id int
)
AS
declare @path varchar(100);
SELECT @path=Path FROM [eai.FileCategories] WHERE Id = @Id;
SELECT Id, ParentCategoryId, Name, NumActiveAds FROM [eai.FileCategories]
WHERE Path LIKE @Path + '%'
ORDER BY Path

i need to write a stored procedure that takes as input an array of integers (amongst other values)

I have a table that looks like this:
RecordId
PictureId
KeywordId
111
212
313
421
522
623
725
817
932
1044
I need to run a query where I pass in an unknown number of KeywordIds that returns the PictureId. The 'IN' clause will not work because if a KeyWordId gets passed into the Stored Procudure the PictureId must have a record with each KeyWordId being passed in. For example, lets say you need to see the result of all PictureIds that have both 1 and 2, the correct result set should only be PictureId 1 and PictureId 2.
Im going crazy trying to find a simple solution for this. Please advise.

I have a multiselect checkbox list in my UI. I pass the list items to my stored proc as comma separated parameter and then I have a function which converts this parameter to a table with separate rows.
E.g. : a,b,c,d
Converted to result table
result
a
b
c
d
I want to insert each row of the result table into another table. How to do that.
E.g., the table after the function is :
CREATE TABLE #result
(
Subject varchar(100)
)
insert into #result values ('a')
insert into #result values ('b')
insert into #result values ('c')
insert into #result values ('d')
So the pseudo code is something like
for each row in #result
insert row into another table

I would like to populate an array with an object. In other words, I would like for each element in the array to consist of an object that has several elements. Below is some code so you can see what I'm talking about:
Function buildObj() Dim countLimit As Integer = 5 Dim mArray() As myObject While reader.Read() For counter = 0 To countLimit - 1 mArray(counter).objVal1 = reader.GetValue(0) 'Error is here mArray(counter).objVal2 = reader.GetValue(1) mArray(counter).objVal3 = reader.GetValue(2) counter += 1 Next End While
Return mArray
End Function
Dim showValArr As Array = buildObj()Response.Write(showValArr(0).objVal1.ToString)
When I build my site, I get the following error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
It's pointing to the line that says "Error is here". Any ideas would be very helpful.Thank you!

I have a table that is basically set up so there is an employee_id, field_id, and a value... it looks sort of like this (in reality there are over 450 different employee ID's)
employee_id field_id value
100 1 Brian
100 2 617-555-5555
100 3 Boston Office
101 1 Mary
102 2 617-666-6666
101 3 New york office
I want to loop thru this table so "for each" distinct employee ID, I can do an insert statement into another table where it is setup a little cleaner
I know how to declare the variables, and set each variable = to the correct value, and how to do the INSERT once, but I am not 100% sure how to set up the loop so it will do each individual employee_ID.
Any suggestions?

Dear all,
I have a problem using SSIS since I was a beginner, the problem is I have to do some data transform from flat files into database. These flat files come from many branches of my office with the file structure like this D:SSISranch_nmfile_nm.txt, in folder SSIS there are many branch_nm folder and each branch_nm folder contains many flat files.
My idea was grab the branch_nm folder into array variable using Script Task and then loop this array variable using ForEach Loop Container to get the file and using it for Flat File connection, but I don't know the way to do it.
May this idea work out for sure ?? How to use array variable, that we previously defined inside Script Task, in ForEach Loop Container ?
Thanks in advance

I have gridview display a list of users. I have added a column for a check box. If the box is checked I move the users to another table.I need to pass some parameter of or each row to a stored proc. My question. In the loop where I check if the checkbox is selected I need to call the stored procedure.Currently I do an open and closed inside the loop.What is best and most effficent method of doing this should I open and close the connection outside the loop and change the procs parameters as loop through. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection conn =
new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(
System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["connString"].ConnectionString);
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand commChk = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("storedProc", conn);
commChk.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure;
commChk.Parameters.AddWithValue("@mUID", ddMainUser.SelectedValue.ToString());
commChk.Parameters.AddWithValue("@sUId", gvUsers.Rows[i].Cells[2].Text);
commChk.Connection.Open();
commChk.ExecuteNonQuery();
conn.Close(); If so exactly how do I do this? How do I reset the parmaters for the proc? I haven't done this before where I need to loop through passing parameter to the same proc. thanks

Below is a stored procedure that designed to populate a drop down menu system on a website. It works fine as long as the 'id's in the first select start at 1 and are sequential. It fails to grab all the sub tables if the ids are not sequential. So, how do I structure the loop so that the WHERE clause uses not the loop iterator, but rather, the ids from the first Select statement.
Alternatively, is there a more elgant approach that will return the same set of recordsets?

Dear All,
I’m working on a stored procedure that meant to mail out users some of their action items daily.
The procedure has a double loop, first the user ids and user email addresses are selected into a table, then the outer loop cycles through the user ids and selects relevant action items to another table. The inner loop then cycles through these action items and at the end of each outer loop a string is mailed out.
Problem is that as the outer loop selects the relevant items for a user, the table holding the action items basically gets filled with more and more records and the inner loop then adds every item in the table to the string that gets mailed out, ending up with more and more items going to all the users.
I have tried to delete all records from the actionItems table at the end of each outer loop after the content of the action Items are mailed out, however this seems to keep the actionItems table empty at all times.
Not sure if this description is clear enough but I can’t see where I’m going wrong in terms of approach.
Any ideas?

We're running SQL Server 2008 and have run into a bit of a situation. We have 5 databases all with the same tables and we are trying to create a query that will loop through the different databases and output the results per company database. I originally did a cursor, but my boss wants the query to be in a more readable format:
His ideal wish would be the query in a stored procedure and the cursor to create the input parameter for the stored procedure for the different databases.I've tried looking through some forums and googling some possibilities but can't seem to make any sense of them.
declare @dbname varchar(100)
,@sql varchar(max)
createtable #TempDBs (
dbname nvarchar(100)
, Orig_Jnl int
, BaseRef int
, Posting_Date date
[code]....

I would like to know what are the ways to call a parameterized stored procedure within a loop in ASP.NET.
Scenario:
I have a loop through a dataSet and for each record I am going to execute a stored procedure to insert data in many tables.
I can not use the following syntax:
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.CommandText = "dbo.storedprocedurename"
With cmd
.Parameters.Add(New SqlClient.SqlParameter("@param1", paramValue1))
.Parameters.Add(New SqlClient.SqlParameter("@param2", paramValue2))
End With
What are the other ways to execute the parameterized stored procedures within a loop in ASP.NET?

I've got the following variables:
CurFile string, FileCount int, FileList Object
I've got a Foreach Loop Container that loops thru a list of files in a directory.
Inside the Foreach Loop Container, I have a Script Task.
In the script, I'd like to assign
FileList(FileCount) = Dts.Variables("CurFile").Value
Thus, For each file in the directory, I want to put all those files into the FileList Array Object. Then I want to sort the Array.
How would I be able to do this? I'd like the easiest way without writing to a database table.
Thanks in advanced.
