I have one column in database called DateTime and it is defined like type datetime.It is formated like: day.month.year hour:minutes:seconds
My question is: I want to get date from Column DateTime in format day.month.year in SELECT query, not in stored procedure.

What happening is that SQL convert this to YYYY-MM-DD, when my DTS package brings data to table?
Note : output of DTS package is MM/DD/YY format.

I am trying to input UK(for example: 25/09/2007 ) format datetime in sql server. Is there any change that I can format my column to UK datetime. At the moment there is in US format(09/25/2007).
I have a table, one of the column has type datetime.
I use the insert command and the data i want to into is '25/09/2007'
It come back with error that the date is out of range. I change that to 09/09/2007 then it work.
The currently date and time format is MM/DD/YYYY.
I don't know how can i define the format to be DD/MM/YYYY

View 5 Replies View RelatedNeed some quick help here.. The data I got from the text file use the "04/11/2007" date format and the StockDate in MS-SQL use the datetime datatype.
My understanding is that the "04/11/2007" will default to the 04/11/2007 12:00 am" format in MS-SQL.
So, when I use the sql query, how do search only for the date part of the data in MS-SQL and match it to the data from text file? I tried this SQL Query below.

In Oracle I would use:
select * from foo where TIMESTAMP >= trunc(sysdate - 1) + 8/24 AND TIMESTAMP < trunc(sysdate) + 8/24.
This would start at 8am yesterday and end at 7:59am today.
How would I do this with T-SQL?

I'm doing something like SELECT * FROM LOGS. The primary key in this table is LogID.
I have another table that contains error messages. Each LogID could have multiple error messages associated with it. To get the error messages.
When I perform my first select query listed above, I would like one of the columns to be populated with ALL the error messages for that particular LogID (SELECT * FROM ERRORS WHERE LogID = MyLogID).
Any thoughts as to how I could accomplish such a daring feat?

I am quite surprise by getting wrong resultset from a simple query like:
select Order_No from Delivery_Order where cust_id = 5 and do_date >= '6/15/2008' and do_date <= '6/31/2008'
In the database, there are data since the last two years. There is no data beyond today's date, in fact. But when I tried to query for 'Order_No' with specified cust_id within above date range (which data is not in the DB), the result will be the 'Order_No' from '6/15/2007' to '6/31/2007'. Isn't it supposed to return null? simply because there is no such date as 2008 yet in the DB.
Help from anyone is needed. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to access a date column up to millisecond precession. So I cast date to as follows:

I get millisecond part as a result of query but its 000?.
When I try to test the format by using getDate instead of DateTime column I get right milliseconds.
CONVERT(varchar(23),GetDate(),121) --Gives right milliseconds in return

Suppose I have added a xyz bit column in mytable. From now onwards new values inserted in mytable will have 0 or 1 in xyz column but the values that were previously stored will have NULL value in xyz column.
Now I want to write a query in which I will not give xyz parameter always like it can be null or value.

I'm trying to write a query against an exisiting table that i can't modify and i'm running into a bit of a problem. The table stores timestamps as a char field instead of a datetime.
So, i've had to use the CONVERT function to change it to a datetime during my query. A sample is below:
SELECT convert(datetime, logged, 120) FROM AP200310
This works, except i want to include the option of querying a single day. Since the data that is returned is in this format:
12/12/2006 6:54:15 PM
The following sql statement doesn't work:SELECT convert(datetime, logged, 120) FROM AP200310 WHERE logged = '12/12/2006'
