SQL Stripes is an application that helps you, the SQL Server DBA, having complete control over your various SQL servers.
From the high-level of monitoring essential components - to the low-level of analyzing your various databases, tables etc…
This is *not* another Query-Analyzer like tool, nor does it intend to be. The idea is that each one of your servers gets a 'Stripe' which contains valuable real-time data on the selected server.
SQL Stripes is an intuitive and easy to use application, which is intended to make your DBA life a bit easier.
SQL Stripes is completely free. Please send your feedback/questions/suggestions
Thanks and enjoy!

I have a Linux machine here at work that I do some development on, along with a few other tasks. It's also on my primary machine at home. Is anyone aware of a SQL Server Management suite that will run (natively - not in a VM) on Linux? I've used Aqua Data Studio in the past, but I would rather not have to pay for another License just for a part-time use.I'm not looking for a full suite of graphical utilities. If I could get the basic functionality of Query Analyzer (query window, object scripting, etc..), I'll be happy.I've googled around, and the pickings have been rather slim. The only thing I've found is something called Transact-SQL Analyzer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlanalyzer/). I haven't tried it yet, but I'll give it a shot. Has anyone used it before? It doesn't make mention of 2k5 support, either.

I was looking for a 'free' intellisense tool that will prompt me with options when I am writing stored procedures in SQL Server Studio. Very much like the intellisense in Visual Studio.
Does someone know about such a tool? I know there are tools of this type but they cost 600 to 1000 dollars for a single user.

HI
I am trying to find a pure web based backup restore tool that can be used on MS SQL 2000.
I have found a few that claim to be web based, but then it tells you to log into your MS SQL server and make some adjustments.
I know that microsoft Enterprise manager comes with a backup / restore tool. but 1) i dont want to have to install a complete copy of 2005 server, and 2) i dont hav ethe physical space to do it right now anyway. all i need to do is move 2 databases from one account to another.
thanks

I am looking to filter the query using the free text predicate Contains for one of the column that have dimensions of the items. The query is something like
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn, 'Near("*cm , *cm , *cm , *Kg.",10,True)')
Data in the filtercolumn is something like 64cm x 25cm x 35cm = 10Kg.
The query do not return any data.I also tried running the below query to see if cm* can be searcher for, but with no result again
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn,, '"cm*"')
If I do something like below, it does return all columns that have 35cm within the text.
Select * from sampletable
where contains(filtercolumn,, '"35cm"')

I had SQL200 query analyzer loadded on a machine but it crashed.
Culd find CD. We decided to load SQl Server Manager sudio express from a sql 2005 CD. THe problem is that wen running queries with it, it puts some strange characters in the output. They arenon-printable characters so you don't see them
when you edit them in notepad. I have an editor that allows you to edit different
modes. I looked at the file in hex mode and found the characters there at the beginning of the first record. I just want the results in the result pane of the query to save as a regular ASCII text file comma delimited. THis same script was used successfully
in SQL2000 query Analyzer. Can anyone help?

Hi !!We are developing an application where we need a Query tool which allows customer to do Ad-Hoc or random query.. something similar to lets say http://salebyowner.com/advancedSearch.phpWe have few more options than this on which customer can do search. I don't think dynamic query in C# code or something like that is going to help me. Am I right? Do we have to use any type of query tool or something for doing this?

Just a general question about any recommendations for a third party tool that would allow setting up a data-dictionary against SQL Server tables and a user could go in and build their own queries, reports. Perhaps they could save their query/report definitions for reuse. Other nice to haves - ability to output to PDF and export to XLS. Would prefer web interface, but can consider desktop as well. Any immediate recommendations?
Thanks.

Hi guys,
I am using DLinq with SQL Server Express 2005 and I need to install some kind of user interface which shows me a trace of the SQL statements sent. I would like to see them in real time (I won't like to inspect a log after :-).
I remember that there was something similar in SQL Server 2000 full edition, but I requiere the same functionality in the Express version now.
Could you tell me if there is some tool to do that?
Thanks in advance,
Erich.

I would like to be able to view the complete SQL command that is sent from a Microsoft Access query which has linked SQL Server tables through ODBC, and the query also has some VBA functions manipulating and filtering data.I tried using the SQL Profiler to view the sql command send to SQL Server but all I see is the simple query format and some of the fields. I don't see the fields that have a VBA function such as trim(fieldname) etc in the column. And If I use a VBA fucntion in the Criteria then nothing shows up in SQL Profiled under the TextData column. How can I see the complete SQL command sent to SQL Server?

Hi all.I'm looking for a tool which should act like some kind of middleware/logical layer bewtween the SQL server and the webbased user interface.- It should be possible to easily create simple web forms (only datainput and output) without programming effort by "clicking" the fieldsand their order on the web mask within an admnistrative interface.- It should also be bossible to add "new fields" to the database, including field type, permissions, value lists etc. (excluding anybusiness logic) without programming effort by administration.I know, that most workflow tools or "Trouble Ticket Tools", based ondatabases have this feature to easily configure new masks and add newfields to the database, but i need it as an tool-unspecific layer forthe MS SQL Server.Thank you very much for your feedback, any ideas are welcome!Best regards, Heiko.

Surely not everyone that uses SQL on a shared server has to buy their own copy of SQL Server?
Is there a free utility to copy it from the host to local? I am assuming that SQL management express can not do this (after searching the help for a while... annoying)
