I have not heard any news on this topic elsewhere so thought I would ask here....
I would like to gain control over parameters in terms of:
1. Parameter placement as in how many parameters on a row, not just 2. It would be nice to be able to specify a row number in the defintiion of a parameter for example.
2. Access to the parameter text via a custom assembly to support multi-langauge reports.
I know other folks have talked about these things and some of us 'hope they are coming one day'...I was wondering if that day might be any closer now?
I am passing the partameters to MS Report Viewer control to view the report. It is working fine with normal parameters like 'abc', 'Jon' etc. But fails with parameters having special characters like 'abc+', 'Version 1.1 Part 1', 'R1.8 RC' throws error " The parameter is missing a value"
Hi All, I am placing a Matrix inside the table control for grouping requirements, but when we export the report to the Excel, the contents inside the table cell are ignored. Is there any way to get the full report exported, as per the Requirement. Please help me with this issue.
Hi guys, I have a gridview and textbox. I can filter the grid just fine with the textbox, but I would like to allow the user to type in part of a name. I thought something like this would work but it doesn't: Emp_Name LIKE '%'+@Emp_Name+'%' Thank you.
The gridview of all the records is displayed on the page by default. There is a lookup of SSN and Name and putting values in those fields should filter the records and display only the row containing entered Name.I have trouble with the SelectCommand. No gridview is displayed with the above command even if value is entered in the Lookup textBox (SrchRefName). But when I change the selectcommand to- (using OR) SelectCommand="SELECT [id], [ref_id], [ref_name] FROM [ref] where [delete_flag] = 'N' AND [flag_transmit] = 'N' OR [ref_name] = @ref_name "> <asp:ControlParameter Name="ref_name" ControlId="SrchRefName" PropertyName="Text" ConvertEmptyStringToNull="false"/> the default gridview is displayed with all the records even though a value is entered in the lookup text box. Please help.
Hello, I'm trying to do something simple but can't make it work. I want to use the result of this sql "Select MAX(Stoptime) AS LatestStop FROM Stoptime" and use it in "Delete from Stoptime Where Stoptime > ?" but here with just the date. How do I set this up with parameters in the Control Flow in Integration Services?
I have reportviewer control into the aspx page and i want to save the parameters informations to the database. but i also want to stick with reportviewer parameter UI instead of my own UI.
Do I need the report server running in order view a SSRS report in a report viewer control? I've created my report in .net and it works great when I'm viewing it in visual studio, but can I run it my web app without the report server.
I have a SSRS report with four parameters, and I want to be able to enter information for two of the parameters and run the report opposed to all four of them. However, when I select allow blanks and only select the parameters that I want to run the report by, the report come back blank..Essentially, I want to be able to the run report by different parameters without having to enter information for all parameters at the same time.
I'd like the state of the function bars to stay at whatever it was as the user moves from one report to the next rather than opening to full each time a new report is opened. Can this be done through a setting or programatically at teh report level? Is there a <default_toolbars_OpenState> tag or something?
I have created a report with the report server project template.
the report is created from stoked procedure having defaut input parameters.
With visual studio, i publish my report on reportserver. whenever i access to my report on this url :
http://localhost/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fReport+Project4%2fReport4&rs:Command=Render. the created report is with the default parameters.
I would like to know if i can transmet parameters for the stocked procedure to build the report with the request i want.
I tried to put parameter directly in the url in this way
We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.
But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally. So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?
I am trying to develop a report from cube, and it has one drill through report.when i click on sales amount field on main report, then it open the drill through report with details. Here i passed the **(category, subcat, product)parameters(Cascaded)** to drill through report in action part of main report. In my main report i have two columns .
when i click on 100, parameters are passed & it open the detail report correctly, but when i click on 50,the values for subcat parameter is not getting values in detail report and same as the product also.
Is there a way to subscribe SSRS report using dynamic parameters for email and trigger the report from autosys job so that report should generate the exact time the job is triggered.Let me describe, my SSRS report should be triggered on success of one autosys job. i need to send email parameter and time of report schedule from this autosys job.
I am having hard time in sending parameters to the report server through reportviewer control from my application. Could anybody help me on this issue?. Is there any way to send the parameters and also what kind of configuration do i need on my report project so that it can accept parameters from my application.
I have a really cool Budget report which has two matrices on it. One is used/visible if the user selects four levels of grouping, and one is used if the user selects only three levels of grouping. The four choices for grouping are four fields, Par, FERC, Point, and Resource.
Since grouping is optional, I need a way to pass the parameter for a field that is not grouped on from the main report to the drillthrough report. For example if the user chooses to group on all fields but Point, I need to pass the report parameter that was used by the main report for Point to the drillthrough report as a report parameter.
So, I tried testing the three grouping levels values and if none were equal to "Point" then pass in the parameter by putting the following expression in the Parameter Value box for the Point parameter on the Navigation tab of the datacell of the main report that is the drillthrough link:
=iif( Parameters!GroupLevel1.Value <> "Point" and Parameters!GroupLevel2.Value<>"Point" and Parameters!GroupLevel3.Value<>"Point" , Join(Parameters!PNTPoint.Value,",") , Fields!Point.UniqueName )
But this is not working; the drillthrough report shows a blank dropdown for the Point parameter and I have to manually set it. Does anyone see an error in the syntax of the iif statement?
Any references, links, resources or good clean jokes would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to poplulate some control like Dropdownlist (for example, with Product names Or Product Ids) from database table in SSRS project type and then filter report by choosing various choice pre-populated in dropdownlist control.
Project Type is : SQL Server Reportings 2005.
Desired Action: Report will run in browser, User will choose specific product and Run the report(filter) to show that product relate results.
We have developed several reports using VS 2005 and deployed them to our SQL 2005 reporting server. As most of our reports use date parameters we would like to incorporate a calendar control to allow users to select their date range as opposed to typing them in. I have done some reseach online but can only find vague references on how to do this. Has anyone out there been able to successfully deploy a calendar control onto an SQL report? Thanks!
I have a matrix report NESTED inside a "List" control. I want to put a reference in the text box in the matrix report to a dataset field in the List control. How? Thanks.
Hi all. Looking for information on whether or not the control/navigation bar that appears at the top of the report view can be changed. I am specifically looking to remove it and assign its controls to other .net or html controls/objects. For example, the control bar has the arrow for viewing the next page. Instead of that, perhaps I might like to have a hyperlink etc somewhere else on the page that performs the same functionality. I have searched and searched for information on this but haven't been having much luck. It's kind of a difficult thing to search for due to ambiguous key words "control bar" "navigation" etc.
Not looking for specific info as to how to go about doing it, more like: what is possible and where can I go to find the specifics.
I'm working on a project where the client wants us to create custom charts which have features not found in the standard Reporting Services charts. I would like to use flash to build this and have found an existing flash charting package for which I have the code and which I plan to expand.
Here's the problem:
The client wants to include these charts in his Reports. Is there some way to add a flash control to a report so that it will appear on the web page as a fully-functional flash presentation, which can then be included when printing or exporting?
The alternative, would be to figure out some means of generating the chart using flash outside of the report, exporting a bitmap of the chart and then saving the bitmap to a known location on the file system so It can be referenced by a report. This has some serious complications, and may not be feasible.
Is there an ActiveX control for the Report Designer available so I can just drop it into my program so the user can edit or add reports without buying the Business Intelligence Studio or Visual Studio 2005? I understand I'll have to pay royalties on this but depending on the cost I am open to it.
I am trying to use the Report Viewer Control in an ASPX page but getting the following error "For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the ProhibitDtd property on XmlReaderSettings to false and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method". This is with September CTP of SQL Server 2005. I am not trying to set any DTD, the same report works if displayed using the WinForm viewer control...so I am not sure why this is happening. is there any samples available for using the Report Web viewer control in an aspx page? Thanks Krishna
I'm using Report Viewer Control and everything works fine. But my problem is I have the same report shown two ways, handout/grid . Handout has less columns and grid has way more.
Now how can I accomplish this task ? I was thinking maybe have two subreports within the one main and hide/unhide accordingly based on user selection of handout or grid.
The problem is all my attempts are unsuccessful.
I will really appreciate if someone can help me on this.
Is it possible to add custom controls in for parameters in report manager??
I have a parameter that requires the user to click a button and select a bunch of things in another form. How can i do this in reporting services??
I also would like to change the layout of the parameters toolbar, ie. make text boxes smaller widths, show/hide parameters based on other parameter values.
I know i could write my own web page that does this and hide the parameters toolbar when they run the report, but this would mean that we lose other functionality that report manager has, eg. scheduling.
Does anyone know if customising the report manager will become available in a later version??
Hello everyone, I have a report that has a "Jump to report:" link in it and in the report it jumps to there is another "Jump to report:" link. When I click on this link I get the following error.
The path of the item '(null)' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath)
I have tried moving the link from the header to the body of the report with the same results.
This is only happening in the web reportviewer control as our windows app works flawlessly.
We are running SQL SERVER 2005 SP2.
Does anyone have a fix, workaround or idea how to resolve this issue?
