Generate an html-excel file with any table. Does not need Excel to generate , because does not use Excel automation.

I want to create an excel file with .xls by using VB script.
Because i want to create a DTS package for our requirement. DTS accepts excel files which has .xls extension only.
What object do I reference to use SSIS from Excel. I want to generate a flat file definition based on Excel. I have a lot of fields to import and I don't feel like creating them as flat file columns. I have a few tables and I get the source file format from the vendor in an Excel format. What I would like to do is generate a flat file connection in an empty package using VBA.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHello All,Looking for an opinion on the following scenario.Lets say you need to create a report for a 1000 stores. The report format is the same but the data changes for each store.Option 1:Write an asp.net page where the user selects the store, or a store parameter is pased, hit SQL Server with a SP and display the data. - This option seem to have the advantage of flexibility and simplicity.Option 2:Write out a static XML/HTML report for each store and have the asp.net page load the static file. - This options seems to have the advantage of speed on the client side but is less flexible and more complex on the backend.Any thoughts?For option 2 is it possible to write out the XML/HTML files using SQL Server or does something custom need to be created?Thanks, Gary
View 2 Replies View RelatedHello!
I'll try to explain what I'd like to do. On my SQL Server 2005, SSAS contains a mining model (In fact a cluster one).
I'd like to show a detailed diagram build from this model on a web site. This diagram (and this is why I need automation) would depend on the user who's consulting it.
For example, a firm A will see the number of its customers in each cluster, and this information will be different for another firm B
So, I thought about several steps to perform:
1) Feed the model with the data for each firm
2) Build a Visio diagram from the previous data using the DM addins for Visio 2007
3) Generate HTML using the Visio export wizard
4) Publish HTML
And (important) this should be done automatically.
I made some experiments:
Step 1 is easy to perform with SSIS
Step 3 is also easy to do with the Visio SDK (using, among others, the exportAsHtml control) and Step 4 is trivial
I failed to perform stage 2, even with the SDK, since creating a diagram from a DM template requires the user to fill a wizard. By code, I'm able to create a document from a DM template, Drop a DM Stencil but when the wizard appears I'm unable to get a handle on it. And even if I was, I dunno if it would be a "clean" way of doing.
So my question is: first of all: isn't there an easier way to generate HTML from Mining Models automatically? And if my approach to this problem is the best (or the "least bad"), how to generate datamining Visio diagrams from code automatically?
Main goal is to parse an Excel Worksheet and save it as a HTML table to SQL.
I have a web form (aspx) where a use is able to browse and upload an excel documnt. I then select the data from the worksheet and use a OleDBDataAdapter to build a Dataset from the Excel data. I fill the dataset with the data from the Excel document.
What I need to do from this point has me lost. I need to re-engineer the excel data into a HTML table to display within a orgianl asp code. I was planning to build the html table...save it as a large string to SQL database table. And then from asp page - read the table and re-display it.
Im not sure how to do this...anyone with experinece, please help.
Other things I have tried. After I have the excel data saved in the dataset...I can read it via Readxml and display it within the asp.net code. So, I dont knwo if it is possible to save this dataset information as HTML to a string...?
Trying to upload excel in server where excel is not installed. BIDs was there in the server, when i am trying to craete Excel source I am not able.what the workround for this.. How to upload excel without excel installed on the server.

Hi
I need to generate a text file from SQL Server. The task automatically runs daily.
The format of the text file use "/" to separate the field and the row. At the end of the file, it adds number of char and uses "". The number of char includes the data parts and excludes a few word of "the number of char".
For example,
The underline fonts mean the first row record. The Bold fonts mean the second row record. The Italic fonts mean the third row record. The red fonts mean the number of char and the end of file.

I am no idea about this problem. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot

For your information
I use SQL Server 2000 in Windows 2000 Server environments
Hi,
We have created a report chart, a simple bar graph, and need to put 2 vertical lines (target limits) on this chart, At the end we need to export this charts in excel and html, but it says that the overlapping of reports items is not supported in all renderers.
It seems that HTML and Excel donot support the overlapping of this 2 items.
Can anyone please help me in this issue? or is their any other alternative to get the chart and the static lines placed on this charts.

Sumeet

View 2 Replies View RelatedHere's a challenge that is killing me:I've got 2 web servers and a SQL Server and about 5,000 'users' whostay connected to the site all day. I have a page that is supposed tobe 'real-time', so to do this, I have a 1px frame that refreshes every15 seconds (so the other frame doesn't have to reload all the time--thetop only reloads when a new record or a changed record hits the db).The real time data can be filtered in about 8 different ways.Currently, I have each user querying a table that contains 1 record,including the max ID and the most current insert/update posting date.The browser contains a cookie with that date. When the browser receivesnotification that there is some new info on the server, it refreshesthe top page and reloads the data. This is happening for all users. So,I thought to eliminate the 5,000 users running the same (or closevariations) of the same query each time a records is inserted/updated,that I would generate an XML file with the current day's data.In a dev environment this works 'ok'. I'm doing this by running anActiveX job on the SQL Server that calls a stored proc (FOR XML) andwrites the content to a file. Then from the web servers, I'm queryingthis file for the new timestamp and then if newer than the cookie,grabbing the XML (using the httprequest in the ASP XMLDOM) and usingXSLT to transform the data instead of parameterizing the queries.Theoretically I love this solution. Problems happen in a LIVEenvironment where either the file is being written to or the job isn'table to run. When 2 records are trying to be written within the samesecond, the file isn't being written (or maybe that the http requestingthe XML is keeping the file locked?)....anyway...this is a HUGE problethat I can't seem to solve. Once we roll to .NET I think storing thedataset in cache and updating cache (still don't know how I'll triggerthat without each user checking the db)....Long winded, sorry...help?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the Excel Connection Manager and Source to read the contents from an Excel file. For some reason couple of numeric fields from the Excel worksheet are brought over as nulls even though they have a value of 300 and 150. I am not sure why this is happening. I looked into the format of the fields and they are set to General in Excel, I tried setting them to numeric and that did not help.
All the other content from the excel file is coming thru except for the 2 numeric fields.
I tried to bring the contents from the excel source to a text file in csv format and for some reason the 2 numeric fields came out as blank.
Any inputs on getting this addressed will be much appreciated.

Hello all,
I'm new to SSIS and have a question about the best way to generate multiple Excel files with my current package design. I have a stored procedure that I run from an Execute SQL Task in a foreach loop container, and it generates results as appropriate for each of the parameters it loops through.
What's the best way to take the result set from each of those executions and generate an Excel file from each set? How do I map that result set variable to be the input for creating a new Excel file? Is this best done as a script task somehow?
Should I not be using SSIS for this task? I thought I would just create a package and schedule it to run daily with SQL Agent, and it would autogenerate the Excel files as needed.
Thanks for your advice!
How to store the html file in sql server data.
I have to import html files to SQL Server 2005 database. For SQL Server 2000 there was "html file source". How can I do it in SSIS?
Hi,
There is one manual process done by my friend. The process is " In query analyser, she runs a sql query and the resultset of Sql query, she copies and pastes into a excel workbook".
I wanted to write a SSIS package to automate it and providing a UI, in which she can give connection details and paste the SQL query and the package will in turn generate excel workbook in the target path". I thought of trying ExecuteSQL task, but the output resultset of ExecuteSQL task cannot be mapped dynamically to excel source(correct me if I am wrong). If I use Dataflow task, then also whether dynamic mapping of SQL output to Excel destination input is possible?
Can you please tell me the best approach for achieving the above functionality?
Thanks,

Hello All.
I sent a HTML file as text message using xp_smtp_sendmail from my SQL server but the test email that I received doesn't look like the HTML file I have originally. Below are my codes:-
exec @rc = master.dbo.xp_smtp_sendmail
@FROM = N'xxx@yyy.com',
@FROM_NAME = N'Mr XXX',
@TO = N'www@yyy.com',
@CC = N'kkk@yyy.com',

@messagefile = N'D:WSTWeeklySalesToThirds.htm',
@server = N'999.99.999.99',
@attachments = N'D:WST4weeksWST.xls'
select RC = @rc
The problem I have is the email doesn't display the HTML correctly. Spaces appeared and some of wording have wrapped.
I have attached partial screen shots of my original HTML file and email.
Please help if you have similar problem and solution. Thank you.
