Hi, I need to get help for a SQL issue from Microsoft. On the website there seem to be two options--one is email support for $99 and another is "online" support for $259. What's the difference? Does the $259 option mean that Microsoft will remote log into my SQL Server and fix the issue while I watch? This is what I need done. Does this $259 pay for the whole issue, until it is resolved?
I am a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCSA)--do I get any discounts or is there any other avenues I should take to get remote support for SQL Server 2005? I wasn't sure where to ask this question, if it is more appropriate elsewhere then let me know.
I need to connect to a sql ce data file via Intranet . Does sql ce support that ? When I attempt to connect that remote file, it show me the error message "There is a file sharing violation .A different process migth be using this file".
I'm trying to run an SSIS package. The package runs on an SQL 2005 server on Win2k3 server. The package tries to connect to another win2k3 server with sql 2000 to retrieve some data. However, I recieve the errormessage shown in the topic.
I found info about modifying the MSDTC security settings under "component services" and did so. I made sure everything was allowed. However, the result was the same. Does anyone have any other idéa about what could cause this problem?
PS. The package works fine if I set up both databases on the same physical machine...
Reader Community I've just started hosting my newly created Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition web site. Unfortunately the Login group membership functions will not function correctly. Having contacted the web service hosting provider, They replied: "We do not support SQL express2005. The only way to use the extra functions of ASP.NET2 such as group membership is if it is using an SQL 2000 database to connect to. " Is it possible to design web sites with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition that store membership details on an SQL 2000 database? I've just paid £88 approx. $140 for a years subscription, have I chosen the wrong web service hosting provider? Should I have designed the web site with a better web site design software tool that also makes designing membership login functionality easy, just as Microsoft Visual Web developer 2005 express edition? Look forward to all comments? Regards
- When I disable "allow remote connections to this server" from server properties>connection page, I can still remotely connect to the server from SSMS...so what is the impact of enable/disabling it?
- what is the impact of changing the remote query timeout (on the same page) from default value?
Fellow Devs, I have an instance of SQL Server Express 2005 running on another box and I have Remote Connections enabled over both TCP/IP and Named Pipes, but on my other box I keep getting the error that the server does not accept Remote Connections. Any ideas why this might be happening? Is there some other configuration?
HiI'm going insane.I have a club starter kit on my local server which is working fine.I have migrated the database to my remote host and seems to have transfered ok.For a brief period I was able to connect to the database remotely, but now I cannot I get the following, even though SQL Server Surface Area Config is set to accept remote connections. An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)This is my connection string;<add name="ClubSiteDB" connectionString="Data Source=xx.xxx.xx.xx,xxxx; Network Library=DBMSSOCN; Initial Catalog=tets; User ID=sqladminbob;Password=sqlbob4398;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient="/>I hav also tried to use aspnet_regsql.exe to add the remote provider but I get the same message. Thanks
I am trying to add a linked server from a AMD x64 server (Windows 2003) with SQL Server 2005 64 bit to a Server running SQL 2000. These are not in the same domain.
I can create a linked server using the option "Be made using the login's current security context" but can not when trying to specify the security context, i.e. sa and the sa password. When I try I get the following message:
Msg 15185, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addlinkedsrvlogin, Line 98 There is no remote user 'sa' mapped to local user '(null)' from the remote server 'DTS_FSERVER'.
I have several other x64 server that I have no problem creating a linked server and specifying sa and the sa password.
The problem with using "the login's current security context" option is that I get an error when trying to run any Jobs against the linked server. The job fails withe the following error:
Executed as user: NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM. Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7416). The step failed.
I'm sure the two errors are related. Any ideas what is going on?
I am a new developer. I need some SQL Language examples to write some quaries.
Ex.
how you collect last record that relevent for the last record updated for a relevent employee in a record table which includes RecordNo and EmployeeNo, salses
I understand the SANs are only Supported by SQL Server 2000 Enterprise and no other versions of SQL, can anyone supply information to the contrary please?
I have several SQL Server 6.5 machines. I would like to see what network support each server uses and change it if possible through the Enterprise Manager.
I'm looking at an MS SQL server database and it stores city namesacross the world. All aarabic , chinese etc names are converted to the latin alphabet.I feel it is probably critical we support accents as a means todistinguish between cities that would be converted to the same Latinalphabet representation otherwise and as a matter of culturalpoliteness. Now ...... how do we do this?Use varchar? which character code page do we use?Use nvarchar? I heard a rumour that SQL server pads unused characterswith blanks and hence will use space unnecessarily. The data will be presented on sheets and emailed around the world - itwill also appear on a website.Any advice greatly appreciated - thanksOliver
An update was supposed to be released for SQL Server Mobile which enabled support for CE 4.2. This was supposed to be released around the time of CF 2.0 sp1. SP1 came out over a month ago and there is still no sign of the SQL Mobile update. Does anyone have any information on a release date ?
I built a bulk Destination component for Oracle using lastest ODP.NET drivers. I was disapointed when I relised that SSIS does not support DTC (Distributed Transactional Coordinator) for ADO.NET connections, just for OLE DB ones. I do not see the reason for it as ADO.NET connection can enlist to a transaction in DTC (if provider supports it).
Is it possible somehow to change this default behaviour and have ADO.NET connection supporting DTC?
Hi friends, I thinks this is not right place to post this question, but i don't know where can i post this one. I hope i will get reply. Actually our application is in two languages English & Spanish. We are having data in English in SQL Server 2005. I need to Insert Spanish data in to tables. What is the way to Insert Spanish data? I need to create new table for inserting Spanish data? OR can i create new columns for spanish in existing table? OR I need to add data in the existing table without creating new table and new columns? How they query, when they want Spanish data related to English? Is it possible to get Spanish language words in SQL Server 2005 which is equal to English Words? How can i write Scripts for retreiving Spanish data?
Could anyone help me to solve this problem. Thanks in Advance
Will SP2 support the new XPS format for rendering? If not SP2, will you release a separate rendering extension on the web or will this have to wait for SP3?
We are looking to make the move from PDF to XPS as soon as possible but we generate so much content from SSRS 2005 it would not be practical until it natively supports the XPS format. In our case using the printer driver isn't an option because all of the reports are generated on a schedule on the server, not by a user through the UI.
I just want to find out what the difference between a remote login and a remote query is. I'd have thought that a remote query inherently requires a remote login.
Has anyone seen this error? It comes up when my app executes a select statement via linked server (from MSSQL 2000 to 2005) the second time it runs. It's basically a timed poll of tables in the remote database. It works once but the second time it executes I get the error from the remote db, it's just a select but I guess the cursor is still open so it can't run again. After the exception the select will run again, once and it just repeats. I have researched it a little and it looks like it mostly has to do with the isolation level of the transaction. Unfortunately based on the componet being used to access the database I don't beleive I have the ability to use transact SQL to call the isolation level (s) listed.
Here's the weird part though, at another site the same scenario is running fine. Same primary and remote db versions of MSSQL as well as the application and it runs fine. I guess my question is what type of setup parameters that may be defined in MSSQL 2005 for the remote database might make it behave in this manner in one instance and not the other? TIA in advance for any thoughts/assistance.
