Getting An Error SQL Mobile Encontered A Problem When Openeing The Database; The Path Is Not Valid
Mar 3, 2006
I am using VS 2005, SQL 2005, SQL Mobile
The development environment & the SQL Box are two different boxes.
I am trying to create a simple application where I want to synchronize data between Pocket PC application's ( Emulator) local database(SQL Mobile) to SQL 2005 Database. I have tried the steps outlined in the following link
Once I have completed all the steps as per the steps in the above link, I have copied the .sdf file to an another machine where I have the development environment. I have created a device application in VS 2005 and created a datasource poiting to the file (.sdf) copied locally.
Then I have added the following code
string filename = @"e:VelsunMobileTest.sdf";
if (VelsunMobileTestDataSetUtil.DesignerUtil.IsRunTime())
{
// TODO: Delete this line of code to remove the default AutoFill for 'velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers'.
this.customersTableAdapter.Fill(this.velsunMobileTestDataSet.Customers);
}
}
private void DeleteDB()
{
if (System.IO.File.Exists(filename))
{
System.IO.File.Delete(filename);
}
}
private void Sync()
{
SqlCeReplication repl = new SqlCeReplication();
I used SQl Server replication to create a new database (as I did using Visual Studio 2003) but when I go the Pocket PC and click on the file I get a native error 25011 with a description
The file is not a valid database file An Internal error has occurred[,,,Databasename,,] Interface defining error: IID_IDBInitialize
When I check on my Pocket PC what programs are available I've got Query Analyser 3.0 and SQLCE Query. It appears that the .sdf file is associated with SQLCE Query because when I use that to try and connect to the same database I get the same error.
If I use Query Analyser 3.0 (after having copied the .sdf file) to the temp directory I'm able to open the database.
There is a similar post to this one but it doesn't help me.
Is it that SQLCE Query is wrongly associated with the .sdf file?
If so how do I change that?
Or is there some other problem preventing me clicking on the .sdf db to open it?
I have recreated my project in Visual Studio 2005 and rebuilt all my components in 2005. There are some external ones that I use that I can't do this for.
The following is the build output that I get when I deploy to a clean PDA with a hard reset performed

I am having a difficult time figuring this one out. I have a stored procedure that as part of an ASP.Net app connects to a csv file through a mapped network drive and imports the data into a table in SQL Server. Here it is.
-- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @CSV as varchar(255) AS BEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON; Begin Try Begin Tran Declare @sql as nvarchar(max) Set @SQL = 'Insert into dlrComp ( SN, CM, PM, MC, Comp_Total, XU, GM, From_Date, To_Date) Select [Serial Number], CM, PM, MC, [Comp Total], XU, GM, [From Date], [To Date] FROM OPENROWSET(' + char(39) + 'MICROSOFT.JET.OLEDB.4.0' + char(39) + ',' + char(39) + 'Text;Database=S:' + char(39) + ',' + char(39) + 'SELECT * FROM ' + @csv + char(39) + ')' --print @sql Exec sp_executesql @stmt=@sql Commit Tran End Try Begin Catch Rollback Tran --Do some logging and stuff here End Catch END
If I am connected to SQL through SQL Management Studio while logged in on the server that is running SQL as DomainUser1 and execute
exec usp_ImportComp @CSV='Comp.csv'
It completes successfully
However if I open SSMS (while logged into Windows on my PC as DomainUser2) using runas to run it as DomainUser1 while logged into my PC and connect to SQL Server using WIndows Auth and run the same I get the following error message.
OLE DB provider "MICROSOFT.JET.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" returned message "'S:' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.".
If I add With Execute as 'DomainUser1' and modify the stored procedure I get the same error message above.
If I log onto the Server that is running SQL as DomainUser2 I can successfully run
exec usp_ImportComp @CSV='Comp.csv'
Both User1 and User2 have the same permissions to the Share and csv as does the Domain user under whose context SQL Server is running.
When trying to install Business Contact Manager (BCM) for Outlook 2007, the setup failed and I was refered to a log file in my Local Settings/Temp folder. The log actually says that Business Contact Manager was installed sucessfully! BCM is supposed to install SQL Express 2005 as an instance or as instance if SQL Express is already installed. There is an MSSMLBIZ instance in Services..
Who can I send the Log File to for analysis and the fix feedback?
When I first went into Computer Management and clicked on Services and Applications in the left panel, the error message appeared "Snap-in failed to intialize. Name: SQL Server Configuration Manager CLSID:{CA9F8727-31DF-41D2-975C-887D84903967} This message diappeared when I clicked on Services and Applications again. Under Services, there are 3 SQL services - one is an application that was uninstalled 3-4 weeks ago and I disabled this service. The other 2 are: SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) and the other one is SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) When I tried to start either of the last 2, the message appeared: Services "Could not start the SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Under Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSGL.1 folder is mostly empty. So, it seems like the Path in the Registry is not valid and that nothing is being installed in the MSSQL.1 folder. If so, how do I fix this?
How do I get the BCM SQL instance to install and run properly? what do the messages in Services mean and how do I resolve these.
I received an alert from one of my two secondary servers (all servers are running 2012 SP1):
File 'E:SQLMS SQL ServerMSSQL11.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAMyDatabaseName_DateTime.tuf' is not a valid undo file for database 'MyDatabaseName (database ID 8). Verify the file path, and specify the correct file.
The detail in the job step shows this additional information:
*** Error: Could not apply log backup file 'MyDatabaseName_DateTime.trn' to secondary database 'MyDatabaseName'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) ***
*** Error: Table error: Page (0:0). Test (m_headerVersion == HEADER_7_0) failed. Values are 0 and 1.

Table error: Page (0:0). Test (m_freeData >= PageHeaderOverhead () && m_freeData <= (UINT)PAGESIZE - m_slotCnt * sizeof (Slot)) failed. Values are 0 and 8192. Starting a few minutes later, the Agent Job named LSRestore_MyServerName_MyDatabaseName fails every time it runs. The generated log backup, copy, and restore jobs run every 15 minutes.
I fixed the immediate problem by running a copy-only full backup on the primary, deleting the database on the secondary and restoring the new backup on the secondary with NORECOVERY. The restore job now succeeds and all seems fine. The secondaries only exists for DR purposes - no one runs reports against them or uses them at all. I had a similar problem last weekend on a different database that is also replicated between the same servers. I've been here for over a year, and these are the first instances of this problem that I've seen. However, I've now seen it twice in a week on the same server.
I am having difficulty restoring a database (DB_1) with 2 datafiles and one log file, DB Structure is as following:
Filegroup PRIMARY with file name 'fnm_data' with physical file name and location D:dbfile_1.mdf, Filegroup 'FG1' with file name 'fgnm1_data1' with physical file name and location F:dbfile_FG1.mdf, One log file with file name 'fnm_log' with physical file name and location (E:loglog_db.ldf)
{Note} Logfile resides on E drive whereas Datafiles reside on several other drives.
I need to restore the DB on another machine. And I need to move the log file to a drive other than E.In this case it is K drive. Hence I have used the following code,
restore log DB_1 from disk='M:kupccciclog.txt'
WITH RESTRICTED_USER , MOVE 'fnm_log'
TO 'K:DBlog_db.ldf', recovery, replace,RESTART
go
When I try to restore from backup files, I keep error message saying "Physical file name E:loglog_db.ldf may be incorrect." 'fnm_log' cannot be restored. Use Move command to identify a valid location for the file.
Even though I am using Move command to move the log file.
Then I found that if I create a drive with E: and a folder named 'log' then restore program runs alright. That is, when E:log exists then code does run smoothly. All the restore code is looking for the presence of path of the log file from where it is been backed up. In this case it is E:log folder. Once the database is restored I could kill that directory and nothing happens. Also log file has been restored on K:DB only.
Why the restore code is looking for the initial drive letter and path even though I have used Move command? Is there an issue in my code?
suggested that this problem could be circumvented by getting the replication object early and then continuously using the same object for subsequent replications.
I did this and it works a lot better now but ever so often I get another error which is
Native Error 28559 SQL Mobile encountered problems when opening the database
My only option at this point is to stop and start the application which cures the problem.
I receive error 25123 on my PPC (audiovox 6600) in a reproducable way (usually) with .net 2.0 application that is using SQL CE that I wrote:
Open the application Connect to the database Close the applicaton Re-Open the application Connect to the database <-- Error occurs
I will also receive the error if my application isn't the first application launched (or very close to the first to launch).
I don't believe it's a memory issue as according to the memory manager I have plenty of memory:
At boot up only start screen items loaded: 18.46 Used 49.89 Free Launch Resco File Explorer to click EXE: 19.18 Used 49.18 Free Launch my application (no DB connection): 23.64 Used 44.71 Free Connect to the DB and do select count(*) from a table with 0 rows: 26.27 Used 42.08 Free Close the application (this.Close() on the form: 19.38 Used 48.97 Free Relaunch App and connect to DB receive error: around 38 Used around 30 free
I was unable to reproduce the issue right now while typing this message, the last sets of numbers are from memory, and include other applications that are currently running.
The only way I have to get SQL CE to load again is to soft reset the PPC. If the application is able to connect to SQL CE at least once it is fine up till I close it and re-open the application. So it either connects and runs great, or it can't connect at all.
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Wayne
Please provide some help regarding the "Interface Defining Error: IID_IDBDataSourceAdmin" error while trying to create a SDF database using Query Analyzer on a Windows CE 5.0 mobile device (Symbol MC3000).

PS. Basically I have developed a mobile application that programmatically creates the database, the code worked on a similar device (Win CE 50), trying to run the application on a new device resulted in database creation errors. I tried creating a test database manually .. and this is what I got.
Browsing MSDN or searching on the Forum did not help.

I have been having a problem trying to connect to a SQL Server. I have installed the Developer edition on an MS Small Business edition 2003 server I also installed MS Sql Manager and I was able to create a database and connect to it. I want to set a Report Parameter on a field. The Report Parameter is called 'filter'. In the statement I put the Report Parameter in the WHERE-part: WHERE ([DatabaseName$TableName].[FieldName] = @filter). After this I set the 'Available values' on the Report Parameter in the lay-out to Non-queried. When the report is running, no problems.
But.....
Now I want to set 'Available values' on 'From Query' and refer to the data set, so the user can choose on which value he want to filter. But now, after running the preview the following error displays: Error 1 [rsInvalidReportParameterDependency] The report parameter €˜filter€™ has a DefaultValue or a ValidValue that depends on the report parameter €œfilter€?. Forward dependencies are not valid.
Why can't I set the Report Parameter to 'From Query'? Anyone any suggestions???

Hi all, I have a problem is that I cannot perform the transacional replication from one server (ms-sql2k) to other server (mssqlserver).
The error show below : Log Reader Agent - Is not a valid win32 application.
I try to setup another server (mssql2k) to do the same thing, there is no error appeared. Therefore, I have doubt that the name of the computer using "-" will have problem. Or the registry of (ms-sql2k) may have problem because it had wrongly installed personal edition and re-installed the standard verions afterwards.

I have a stored procedure that works when executed in query analyzer. (It is also way too long to post here) When called from my application ado.net returns the error:

If I run the proc in query analyzer using the same parameters (copied from quickwatch while debugging) there is no error.
While very complicated, this procedure runs quickly so timing out is not an issue.
Does anyone know why a proc would run in query analyzer and not in an asp.net/c# application?
I have created a very simple report that works correctly when in Report Designer Preview mode. When I deploy to the report server it reports that deployment was successful. When I log into Report Manager the report is visible, but when I click on it I end up at an error page.
The error that I get is: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
I have subscriptions that fail because someone's email is no longer valid, where is this error information stored so I can fix the problem? I have a large list and it is hard to do manually. I will be using data driven solutions, but these are existing subscriptions that need to be ran.
