HELP - Weird Error After Replication Setup

Hello guys,
Have any ever seen this error before?
Steps I made:
1) Created Publications by script - using Manual Sync. (Transacat Repl)
2) Created Subscriptions by script
3) Started Distribution Agent
THEN THIS ERROR MSG:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK__@snapshot_seqnos__24F8BF73'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object '#24049B3A'.

I've been setting up subscriptions to a merge publication for the past 3 days. All of a sudden, I'm getting a pile of very strange errors. Replication is configured. I have 16 subscribers to an existing publication configured and synchronizing changes without any issues. The script that I'm using to create all of the subscriptions is as follows:

The last one that I added #17, gives the following errors after successfully creating the subscription.

I very obviously have replication installed by virtue of the fact that I have a publication and 16 subscriptions that are currently synchronizing. Any ideas?

I am trying to setup replication on my server, but was getting an error that said:
"The Distributor is not available Error 6. Specified SQL Server not found"
So, I did some searching and found a couple things to check and found
sp_helpserver....the server with id of 0 was a remote server, not the local server instance...and
select @@servername also returned the name of that remote server!!
I'm assuming this is my problem, but how did it get this way and how do I fix it?

Hello:
We are working on mssql 6.5, sp 4 and are beginning to test replication between two servers containing the same databases.
In EM, we added a distribution database on the publisher machine and through EM added each server as a local on each separate server and installed mssql 65 and sp4 on each machine and created the same database on each repsective machine.
In EM , through replication configuration, we added a subscriber database on one machine. On the publisher machine ,in EM through replication configuration, we went to add a publisher and when we clicked on the subscriber and then clicked on the publisher database and then clicked 'O.K.", we got the following message:
'Error 21271 : the name 'xyz-01' is not a vlaid object identifier, oe is not a valid format for this proprty or method'
This error message is not in BOL.
Has any one received this message in this situation?
What do we do to resolve it?
Any assistance that can be provided will be greatly appreciated. THanks.

I am trying to setup replication but am having the following issues
Publisher:
SQL 2005 SP1 Enterprise Cluster (Active, Passive)
Subscriber:
SQL 2005 SP1 Enterprise
When trying to create a publication or subsubscription running under a Windows Domain account the following error message appears:
Replication-Replication Distribution Subsystem: agent ECHOECHO-InsDB-INS_CMS_PUB-HARPO-58 failed. Unable to start execution of step 2 (reason: Error authenticating proxy DETINIsrvRep_user, system error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.). The step failed.
Further in the SQL logs we find that the above message is due to:
[298] SQLServer Error: 22046, Encryption error using CryptProtectData. [SQLSTATE 42000]
It appears that when Credentials for the agent proxy are being created that this message occurs. So when the SP that tries to run the agent (snapshot or distrobution) is called it always returns incorrect password details.
The Credentials do appear to be created, they are visible via SQL Studio, but you can't see the password. Changing the password via SQL Studio does not work as the Credentials are recreated every time.
I have checked the following:
MSDTC is running correctly
The Domain Account has the correct privileges to run these services
Regenerated the Service Master Key
Created Master Keys in each database effected by replication
Ensure SQL Service accounts have access to decrypt the Service Master Key
I can create a Publication and Subscription using the local system account on the cluster
Does anyone have any idea ?

I'm implementing merge replication between SQL CE and sql server 2005 SP2. Here is the problem I'm facing
I have dynamic filters on some tables like
Select * from table1 inner join table2
ON table1.field1 = table2.field3
and table2.flag = true
When table2 flag turns true then all the matching records in table1 should be returned to the subscriber.
But that is not happening. The filter does not return any records to the subscriber even though i see records when i run the query on the server. My take on this is the publisher thinks there is no changes on table1 so there is nothing to update. So to fix that i run dummy updates like
update table1
set [name] = [name]
where table1.field1 in
(Select field2 from table2 where flag=true)
This updates the records and the publisher updates the subscriber the first time. When i set the flag to false, it is supposed to remove the data from the subscriber but i get this error.
The merge process failed because it detected a mismatch between the replication metadata of the two replicas, such that some changes could be lost leading to non-convergence. This could be due to the subscriber not having synchronized within the retention period, or because of one of the replicas being restored to a backup older than retention period, or because of the publisher performing more aggressive cleanup on articles of type download-only and articles with partition_options = 3. On the national Server: SQL 2005 Enterprise
On the mobile clients: SQL 2005 Workgroup.
I was asked to find a solution to such scenario
2 mobile subscriber S1 and S2 to the same simple merge publication P1 on server N
Day 1,
S1 and S2 both synch up with N and both go off to do fieldwork
Day3,
S1 and S2 both synch up with N.
S1 goes back to work
S2 shutdown the laptop and goes on 2-week vacation.
2 Weeks late
S1 Synch up wit the server and goes off to do fieldwork.
S2 meets S1 in the field. Their workfield is in the North Pole.
S2 has the laptop with data 2-weeks old but no longer can have access to the master publisher N to synch the replica and get latest changes.
S2 will have to sync with S1 since S1 database is fresh. The challenge is to have S2 and S1 replica identical
The Questions:
Is it possible for S2 to sync with S1?
if yes, How to go about it€¦ we need S1 and S2 to have identical replica on their machines?
Now that S1 and S2 are have identical databases and are both doing their fieldwork in the northpole. Can they both sync back with the national publisher N when they have access?
Keep in mind that S2 got its data updated from the replica on S1?

Publisher is 2005 x64, subscribers SS2000 (SP3) and SS2005 x64. Pull agents, no filters on subscriptions. We are seeing many seemingly random conflicts on between SS2000 subscriber and publisher. It happens on several different tables.
One table is never editted, only inserts happening everywhere and deletes happening on the SS2000 subscriber. Deletes will sometimes generate conflict. Reason is '"he row was deleted at 'CTS11.CTS' but could not be deleted at 'cts4a.cts'. Unable to synchronize the row because the row was updated by a different process outside of replication." CTS11 is SS2000 subscriber, CTS4A is publisher.
Probably unrelated bug but when looking at conflicts on this same table in SS2005 conflict viewer, get error "ID is neither a DataColumn nor a DataRelation for table summary (System.dATA)" and then "Column ID does not belong to table summary (System.Data)". ID column is rowguid, only unusual thing about table is that it has varchar(8000) field plus some other fields.
Other tables generate conflicts with this reason "The row was updated at 'CTS11.CTS' but could not be updated at 'cts4a.cts'. The merge process was unable to synchronize the row." I enabled verbose logging in the merge agent but the log file didn't contain any further explanation.
This same topology and schema worked fine when all publishers and subscribers were SS2000.
Any insight into how to fix this would be appreciated.

before anyone even says it, i checked the collation order on everything and it's the same. i get the error when the snapshot is trying to be bulk copied to the subscriber.
i'm on sql2k sp4, server and db collations are SQL_Latin1_General_SP1_CI_AS. here's a repro. 1st, run this in a blank db:

I have XP Pro SP2 with MDAC 2.8.1022. It had a problem so I tried to reinstall MDAC and got a Fatal Setup Error. This setup does not support installing on this operating system. I downloaded MDAC 2.8 1177 and get the same error.
I thought of uninstalling/reinstalling SP2, but this is a 2 month old Dell Latitude 610 with factory installed XP. There is no Windows Service Pack 2 option listed in the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
There's some other strange things, so I wonder if they are related.
1) I have Paul set up as an administrator account. Some folders like MSSQL show that account with no permissions. I grant all the permissions to Paul for that folder. I come back later and the permissions are gone.
2) I deleted 20 files in Explorer, but 7 of them did not go away. I deleted those 7 again and they instatnly reappeared. I deleted those 7 again and then they finally went away.
3) I get a slow reaction time for things like Windows Explorer and opening and closing programs. This is suprising since it has 2 gig of RAM and 2.3 Gig processor. Could it be a memory handling problem that's causing OS problems. Probably, the memory didn't handle the OS installation well and the whole system is compromised now.

I'm trying to install SQL Server Management studio 2012 on my Windows 7 (x64) standalone laptop. When I click "New SQL stand-alone installation..." it runs a Setup Support Rules check and always fails "Setup Account Privileges". I've looked into the error and I keep getting that I need to change security rules but I don't have that option in window 7. How do I get around this without having to resort to a computer running Windows Server?
I have Visual Studio 2013 premium installed along with Localdb v11. I just want to connect and manage my database engine through SSMS when developing any application.

(I have Sql server 2005 also downloaded before)
Please help me cause any website that has data can not be executed even the quick start tutorial that ships with the ASP.NET 2.0

Why does ado.net produce this error when I kow for a fact that there are no connections to any sql server 2005 database involved - this could and probbaly has had people off looking at the wrong connection strings in their web.configs.
Note:- The connection string we have is to a sql 200 db I just wanted to make that clear.

i have a form which takes in a lot of input...one of them is a date field..am passing all the values to the stored proc and inserting into a table from there...pretty simple...however when the user does not enter any value in the field...its errors out as...
String was not recognized as a valid DateTime.
heres the code in asp.net

the field is optional....in my stored proc i am setting a default value too

i also xplicitly set it to null through code

how else do i resolve this...

I was running a DTS package which transfer a complete database, about 2.3GB in size, to another database on the same server. It was necessary for environment change from dev to QA. I baby sat the package till it was rebuilding indexes (90%) complete. This morning I have the following error message on my screen,

Heres some SQL I am trying to execute:

Now it seems basic, but there in one more field that you're not supposed to specifiy a value in the SQL, its an int IDENTITY datatype field called num_id. Now this SQL works if it doesnt have the num_id field. But heres the error is gives me, I have never seen it before

hey all, i have a weird authentication error.i have two servers, both running sql server 2005. one is on my workstation the other is on my dev server. i backed up my workstation database and restored it on the dev server. my workstation is xp and my server win2k3. i'm developing an asp.net 2.0 app that talks to my sql server using windows auth. on my workstation my website runs under the ASPNET account, IUSER_COMPUTERNAME and i had that account setup in sql on my workstation in the main security folder, then again in the db security folder the name of it was [ASPNET LOGIN]. each sproc had EXEC permission for [ASPNET LOGIN].when i restored it over to my win2k3 box i deleted that login from the database and revoked it on all the sprocs. i then setup another account for the application and set my website to use that account. i couldn't use the original account because of the group it was in, blah blah blah, not important. the thing is, i got rid of all instances of that ASPNET LOGIN account and i'm running the website under a new account, and some of the stored procedures work, but some of them i get the error "Cannot find the user 'ASPNET LOGIN', because it does not exist or you do not have permission." which is crazy, because i've gotten rid of all references to that. it's not anywhere i see in the database, not in either security/users folder, it's not on any of the stored procedures. and it's NOWHERE in the website. not in IIS or code. furthermore some of the stored procedures work. as far as i can tell, the ones that are not called from my custom MemberShipProvider are working. so i went back to my database on my workstation, revoked exec permission on the sprocs, deleted the login from the db and then from the sql server instance, backed it up again, restored on my server and i'm still getting this issue.where can that ASPNET LOGIN be hiding? i restarted too thinking maybe it was cached somewhere. this is my connection string that the entire app uses: "Server=[serverName]; Database=[dbName]; Trusted_Connection=true;"my web.config is using <identity impersonate="true"/> and my website is running under the account i created.any ideas? i've been battling this for half a day.and why would it only happen with the membership provider? it's using the same connection string the rest of the app is.

Hello I have an issue with a data flow task that is reporting DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE. The data flow task consists of a Data Reader source which splits the rows off into 1 of 3 categories; update, insert, delete. Each destination is an OLEDB Command which respectively performs the needed operation.
The insert works fine as we just ran it yesterday and loaded 800,000 records into the table, the update is reporting the error, yet the data types match, both are nvarchar(25).
Does anyone have any idea why this might be occurring? We use this same method for all of our packages and yet this is the only one that seems to have this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm trying out the nifty new way of writing SPROCs and UDFs in CLR (C#). I have a UDF that is a bit too complicated for T-SQL so I wrote it in C# but now I can't deploy it.
I run the build and it compiles fine. Then I get this error when VS2005 tries to 'deploy':

Error: Incorrect syntax near '&'.
I don't have a single ampersand character in my UDF's .cs file. The Test.sql file doesn't have one either. There is no file, line, column number associated with the error. If I hit F1, I get help for compile time error CS0266 which is for no implicit cast available (which was the last compile error I got before compiling successfully so I think this is a red herring. In other words, online help is just displaying the last know error number - nothing to do with the deployment error).
I've noticed that if I change the signature of the function from:
[Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlFunction] public static int ComputeGoalNodeSpread(SqlInt64 Commence, SqlInt64 Finish, SqlByte TreeLevel, out SqlInt64 PreOrder, out SqlInt64 PostOrder)

The error goes away. Seems to be related to those By Reference parameters.

The commented lines is what I get in return. There's nothing being executed on this file. I dropped a few indexes. I need the space back from the file. Backups and everything are run on it normally. Is there something I'm missing or is there something wrong with it? I don't do 'AutoShrink'. Also, the file is not empty. Checkdb is working fine. Dbcc ShrinkDatabase also works fine but doesn't even recognize these files. It doesn't even show this files in the results pane when executing the command. Thank you for your help.

For some unknown reason, I'm suddenly experiencing the following error when I open a package in BIDS:

I did setup to have a Desktop SQL Server running on Windows NT workstation in a different domain across the internet create a pull subscription to a transaction publication that is immediate updating that I have published on my NT SERVER in my domain. I have a question:
I want to be able to do bi-directional transaction based replication
between a 7.0 SQL server running on Windows NT 4.0 server SP5 and an NT Workstation 4.0 SP5. Can this be done or would it require that both
machines to be NT Server based? The reason I asked is because previously under 6.5 I was able to install the SQL operating system on Windows NT Workstation and now it looks like I can only install the Desktop version under 7.0. Will this give me the type of replication I am looking for?

I am setting up 2005 Transacational Replication on a database that was created on SQL 2000. There are 1400 articles (tables, views, sp and functions). It takes 2.5 hours to create the snapshot. Then, once the distribution errors gets its first error, it keeps retrying and getting the same error. Q1: Can I tell it to record the error but keep going? Q2: How do I stop the distribution agent once it gets in the this state? I have been deleting the publication but that seems like overkill.
I am trying to figure out a more efficient way to identify all the articles that are going to get errors. Is there any way to test the articles to see which ones will get an error? My current process takes a long time just to identify one error (since I have to create the snapshot each time).

Hello,
I have a package that has a FOREACHLOOP container. Inside the container is a SCRIPT task that runs a stored procedure and writes the output of the sp to a file.
That part works fine.
However, if I add a second script task inside the FOREACHLOOP container, I get error messages when running the second script task.
The second script task is identical to the first script task, except for the connection information. That is, it's doing the same thing, but running the sp on another server.
I tried removing the second script task from the FOREACHLOOP container, and putting it in it's own FOREACHLOOP container, but it still gives the same error.
This is the error I'm receiving:
Error 30009: Reference required to assembly 'System.Xml, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' containing the implemented interface 'System.Xml.Serialization.IXmlSerializable'. Add one to your project.

I have a question about replication. I have created the destination machine as the subscriber, where I created a pull subscribtion and tried to replicate I got this error.
"Subscriber must be running in perseat license moe to use this."
The cd I used to install MSSQL 7.0 is the msdn back office test platform. Where am I going wrong??/ because I never got to specify the per seat license anywhere..
The documentation says that If I can have it installed on a 95/98 box then it means I have a perseat licesne, which I was able to do..
Any any help is appreciated!!
