Looking For A Way To Refer To A Package Variable Within Any Transact-SQL Code Included In Execute SQL Or Execute T-SQL Task

Apr 19, 2007

I'm looking for a way to refer to a package variable within any
Transact-SQL code included in either an Execute SQL or Execute T-SQL
task. If this can be done, I need to know the technique to use -
whether it's something similar to a parameter placeholder question
mark or something else.

FYI - I've been able to successfully execute Transact-SQL statements
within the Execute SQL task, so I don't think the Execute T-SQL task
is even necessary for this purpose.

MS Reporting Service - Call Code

Mar 19, 2008

Hello,

I have a microsoft report that uses a dll to calculate a value. If I hard code the value, my report shows it. My method in the dll is connecting to a database in order to calculate a result. However, in order to connect to the database, I am using Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.

The error in my report is:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I have added a reference in the report to the EnterpriseLibrary but this has not made a difference.

Many thanks!

Can You Call/execute A Stored Procedure From An Expression?

Jun 6, 2007

I want to use Navigation to click-through to another report.

However, the source report is an MDX summary report, and the report I'm calling needs the entire Customer MDX tuple as a parameter. (the entire customer tuple is not available in my cube)

The text box has enough information to identify the customer, but not the entire tuple.

I want to pass the text box contents to a SP which returns the MDX string, and pass that to the new report.

I do not see how using another data source can help me accomplish this.

Basically, I am wondering is there a way I can have an expression similar to

=EXECUTE(spX, parm=txtbox.Value)

Thanks In Advance for any help...

How Do Call Winzip From Execute Process Tasks?

Jun 12, 2006

Hi,

In my ETL project, l need to extract rawdata using winzip, and the DOS command l use is
c:program filesWinzipwinzip32.exe -min -e c:
awdata est.zip c:
awdata
where -min for minimize and -e for extract, c:
awdata est.zip for source file and c:
awdata for destination. It works fine by using DOS command.

l configure the Execute Process Tasks with the following parameters, i.e.
RequiredFullFileName : TRUE
Executable : c:program filesWinzipwinzip32.exe
Arguments : -min -e
WorkingDirectory : c:program filesWinzip
StandardInputVariable : User::gsRawFile
StandardOutputVariable : User::gsDestDir
Where User::gsRawFile = c:
awdata est.zip and User::gsDestDir = c:
awdata

But it can't work....no error return.

Any idea when l make the mistake?

Thanks.

Is It Possible To Create A UDF From A .NET 2.0 Assembly That Uses Dllimport To Call Unmanaged Code?

Jan 23, 2006

I have been reading up on everything I can find on this subject and I am not clear if this is allowed within the SQL Server 2005 CLR. My function calls work within a Windows form project, but don't run when invoked from a SQL function. I don't get any errors or warnings when creating the assembly and functions within SQL Server, but when running via a select statement, the spid just hangs and I have to stop & restart the service to kill the process. I have been investigating the security settings for this assembly, but I think I have that covered via the RunTime Security Policy settings in the .NET Framework 2.0 Configuration tool.

Any insights, knowledge, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

How To Call AS400 Stored Proc And Evaluate The Return Code?

May 30, 2007

I am trying to use SSIS to update an AS400 DB2 database by calling a stored procedure on the AS400 using an OLE DB command object. I have a select statement running against the SQL Server 2005 that brings back 20 values, all of which are character strings, and the output of this select is piped into the OLE DB command object. The call from SSIS works just fine to pass parameters into the AS400 as long as the stored procedure being called does not have an output parameter defined in its signature. There is no way that I can find to tell the OLE DB command object that one of the parameters is an output (or even an input / output) parameter. As soon as one of the parameters is changed to an output type, I get an error like this:

Code Snippet

I really need to know if the call to the AS400 stored procedure succeeded or not, so I need a way to obtain and evaluate the output parameter. Is there a better way to accomplish what I am trying to do? Any help is appreciated.

Help! AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Failed With Error Code 0xC0202009

Unfortunately we want to call it from another package and when we do so it fails everytime with the following error; "AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "BPCSF" failed with error code 0xC0202009." This package is calling an AS400 and pulling data from it into a staging environment. The task that is failing is 4th task on the list and is the 3rd task to call the AS400 environment. If I need to provide more information I would be happy to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Myconnection Failed With Error Code 0xC0202009.

Oct 9, 2007

I can run this package in Studio and it works fine, but when I run it from SQL Server Agent, it throws this error. Does anybody know what would cause this problem. This appears to occur during validation for the package because none of the data flow steps run. The connection being used is the same connection used in all of the data flows. If validation is done in order, then prior steps using the same connection are passing validation.

Pre-Execute AcquireConnection Method Call Fails Inside Sequence Container (transaction Required)

Jun 1, 2006

I've created an SSIS package that contains a Sequence Container with TransactionOption = Required. Within the container, there are a number of Execute Package Task components running in a serial fashion which are responsible for performing "Upserts" to dimension and fact tables on our production server. The destination db configuration is loaded into each of these packages using an XML configuration file. The structure of these "Upsert" packages are nearly identical, while some execute correctly and others fail. Those that fail all provide the same error messages.

These messages appear during Pre-Execute

[Insert new dimension record [1627]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "DW" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

[DTS.Pipeline] Error: component "Insert new dimension record" (1627) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020801C.

... which are followed by

[Connection manager "DW"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".

[Connection manager "DW"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x8004D00A.

While still in debug mode, I can check the properties of the "DW" connection and successfully test the connection within the packages that fail.

The same packages run successfully when tested outside the container (i.e. no transaction) or when the configuration file is modified to point the "DW" connection to a development version of the db which is running on the same server as the source database.

I have successfully used DTCtester to verify that transactions from source to destination server are working correctly. Also tried setting DelayValidation = True with no change. I have opened a case with Microsoft and am awaiting a reply so I thought I'd throw a post out here to see if anyone else has encountered this and might have a resolution. Here's some more on the environment:

Source Server:

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1
SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition SP0

Destination Server:

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1
SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3 (clustered)

Thank you in advance for any feedback you might be able to provide.

Why Does This Code Not Execute In Current Db?

Mar 19, 2008

I am creating a stored procedure to generate the sp_addrolemember syntax, since SQL 2005 does not script role members. The stored procedure is named sp_ so it can be executed from any database. However, any reference to a view beginning with sys. only gets executed in the master database and not the current database. Why?

Try this code for a test.

Use Master

GO

Create Procedure sp_test as
Begin

Select g.name, u.name
From sys.database_principals u,
sys.database_principals g,
sys.database_role_members m
Where g.principal_id = m.role_principal_id
And u.principal_id = m.member_principal_id
And u.name <> 'dbo'
Order by g.name, u.name

End

-- Run sp_test from a database containing fixed database role members. The select only runs against master and not the current DB.

SSIS Hard Time Getting Back XML Return Data From Stored Procedure Call Executed By Execute SQL Task

Aug 9, 2006

I'm having a hard time to getting back an xml data back from a stored procedure executed by an Execute SQL task.

I'm passing in an XML data as a parameter and getting back resulting XML data as a parameter. The Execute SQL task is using ADO connection to do this job. The two parameters(in/out) are type of "string" and mapped as string.

When I execute the task, I get the following error message.

[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "dbo.PromissorPLEDataUpload" failed with the following error: "The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 2 ("@LogXML"): Data type 0xE7 has an invalid data length or metadata length.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

I also tried mapping the parameter as XML type, but that didn't work either.

If anyone knows what's going on or how to fix this problem please let me know. All I want to do is save returning XML data in the parameter to a local package variable.

Thanks
