I have two machines one 64bit machine with SQl 2005 on it and another 32 bit machine which I use as my web server both running win2003. I have followed the knowledgebase article from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/httpasws.mspx) and also researched postings on this site but can't seem to access the cubes remotely. I have changed to msmdpump.ini file to have the <ServerName>mycomputername</ServerName> which points to the SQL box.
I can connect to the cubes from the 32 bit machine using somethign like crystal reports and connecting directly to the server name but can't connect to https://localhost/olap/msmdpump.dll I get an error about could not connect to the computer name or the computer is not runing analysis services.
I'm unable to do a RDA.Pull() when I have the sqlcesa30.dll running under HTTPS. What are the requirements to allow me to pull with the dll under HTTPS?
How to get data from cubes in analyses manager to MS access using forexample ODBC ? Does existe any other posibilities to get data from cubesdirectly to the accees ?thanksKris
I've got a report server that I recently inherited. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an expert on SSRS, but I've figured out a lot in the past few weeks.
One issue I'm having (apparently it's always been there, but nobody ever bothered to fix it in the past) has to do with the report subscriptions and linked reports. We have an SSL cert inside IIS. I have SSRS configured to "require SSL connections" in the Report Server Virtual Directory tab.
So the user gets an email with a link to a report. But the link has an "http://" as opposed to "https://." When you click on the link, it throws your standard "page must be viewed on a secure channel." When I manually append an S to the url, it works great.
There has to be a way to automagically add the S to the url, but I can't seem to figure out how. Anyone ever run into this before? Google has not been good to me this morning either.
Is there any way that cubes built on Analysis Server 2005 can be migrate or copy to Analysis Server 2000. I have built cubes on 2005 and i want the cubes to be also on another server whicih is unfortunately running Analysis Serviuces 2000. Is it poosible ?
I'm am writing a report in SSRS 2005 on a local PC that uses cubes in AS 2000 on another server as a datasource. I am using the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Extension (OLAP9) to connect to the cubes using windows authentication. I can save and preview the report in visual studio and publish the reports on IIS on my local PC with no problems but when I go to view the report in IE, I get the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set 'dataset'. Unable to recognize the requested property ID 'ReturnCellProperties'.
Have read various articles on the net with no conclusive explanation.
I have seen another post on this forum that suggests using OLEDB for Analysis Services instead but if I do this it doesn't allow me to use the MDX visual query designer. Creating the report using OLAP9 then changing to OLEDB and pasting in the query code doesn't work so well either.
I went and read http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159219.aspx about data sources supported by SSRS 2005 and it should be ok.
I am using sql server 2005 with the latest service pack 2.
We are using the ReportViewer web control (SSRS 2005) to render server reports on a webpage that is exposed over the internet. Clients connect using HTTPS, however they are connecting to an ISA server which forwards the requests to the website using plain HTTP.
Reports are shown correctly, however when the user clicks the print button, the request to the web server is sent using HTTP not HTTPS and the ISA server is not allowed to accept incoming HTTP traffic. The result is that reports cannot be printed. We have proven that the reports do print if we manually alter the request to use HTTPS, so there is definitely no problem with our printers.
The problem is that we cannot work out how we can get the print request to be automatically sent using HTTPS.
We had a similar problem when we implented ReportBuilder, but we got around this by specifying HTTPS in the ReportServerExternalUrl tag in the RSWebApplication.config file. Unfortunately this has no effect on the print request from the ReportViewer.
So if anyone has got a solution/workaround/suggestion for this problem we would be very grateful.
My host does not provide a good web based management tool for the sqlserver database I am using. They queue imports and exports so it takesseveral hours before things are finished. They provide this web basedaccess and access through asp or asp.net. Does anyone know how I couldtunnel a connection from enterprise manager to the database using aasp.net web application?ThanksTy
In my CLR stored procedure, I made a https request. To by pass the security check, I change the property of ServicePointManager: ServerCertificateValidationCallback . But SQL server 2005 does not allow me to do this and gives me exception related to security.
It seems the CLR assembly does not have permission to set the property of ServicePointManager: ServerCertificateValidationCallback.
What kind of user should I use to run this stored procedure?
I already assign external_resource to the assembly in SQL server 2005.
The code:
ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(myCertificateValidation);
We have about 70 clients, each with their own databases synching to a copy of their database on a remote webserver. They synchronise using a Windows Service which we wrote using RMO.
For completeness, our setup is as follows:
subscription.CreateSyncAgentByDefault = False -- I wrote a windows service to synchronise subscription.UseWebSynchronization = True subscription.InternetSecurityMode = AuthenticationMethod.BasicAuthentication subscription.SubscriberType = MergeSubscriberType.Anonymous
Sometimes, one of our clients synchronisation goes up the spout - it might take hours to synchronise - despite their internet connection being fine. And once this starts to happen, nothing will fix it. We've restarted their server, rebooted their router etc etc.
Well, the only way of fixing it is to recreate the publication, copy the backup, reinitialise and start again, which costs us a days work and inconveniences the client greatly.
What would be the likely trigger for this. How can we stop this happening again.
If it helps we could create a trace to help resolve this.....
We currently have a few reports running on a external website. The users have to log in to the website using their Domain Username and Password. Our network admin wants to move from simply http, to a secure https protocol.
My question is: Are there any conciderations for making this move? ...Will it break my reports?
Hello All, I have an application pulling data from SQL Server 2005 which is running on windows mobile 5 devices, and RDA is setup and working perfectly over http and this is in the production for long time, but we have decided to implement SSL for transportation recently and we have a certificate installed to the server and i am trying to pull data using https and getting "the request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed" message, only RDA stopped working over SSL, i can access scripts and other resources from the device using https (I made code to trust any certificate for any web requests) the link to the dll is accessible from outside, i have installed the root certicate on the server, the virtual directory has been changed to communicate via https on web synchronization wizard, then problem occurs, otherwise it will work ok, i am totally stuck at this point, is this a problem with port setup port 443 is opened, the issue is clearly a SSL issue. any help would be appreciated..what are the things to be done to implement SSL for RDA, i don't see anything more in msdn. thank you so much! sush
I have some code in a SQL CLR stored procedure that calls out to a web service at UPS to obtain tracking information for a package.
The code fails on the last line, in the call to WebRequest.GetRequestStream(), with the following exception:
"System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.InternalConnect(EndPoint remoteEP) at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at UPSTracking.TrackShipment(String TrackingUri)"
This same code works just fine when not running in the SQL CLR assembly. The assembly is marked as External, but I've also tried marking it as Unsafe, which did not work either.
Any suggestions on what the problem might be or how to troubleshoot this further would be greatly appreciated.
The windows password used for the client subscriber expired on the publisher.
I reset it on the publisher - but SQL still seems to think that it is not expired - I get the following message in the event log of the publisher running SQL Server 2005
Login failed for user 'XYZ'. Reason: The password of the account has expired. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
I`m trying to connect to the Analysis Services (AS 2000 Enterprise Edition SP4 on Windows Server 2003 EE, respository is in Access DB) throught Analysis Manager over HTTPS(HTTP) connection. I dont want to use domain account.
I need to specify USER_ID and PASSWORD to the Analysis Manager, but in registration of new server is only IP address or HTTP adress (for http://server) - but it doesn´t work - it says Unauthorized. But I`ve tried to use Anonymous account and it doesn`t work (client wan`t able to make connection)... I would like to use Basic Authentification.... Thise account is member of OLAP_Administrators... but the problem is where should I put USER_ID and PASSWORD???
It works perfect in Excel 2003.... MSOLAP.asp work fine in IE...
Hi, I have setup reportserver with default settings (non https) and afterwards in IIS added a certificate and https support. Know I am able to work really well and secure over the internet, but some links in report manager pointing to http://server.domain.com/reports instead of https: For example if i call a report and then in the top there are (view, properties,...) - View is HTTPS - Properties is HTTPS - History is HTTP - Subscription is HTTP
I have read some articles - mentions I should configure https, but - in Report Configuration you could not setup HTTPS - in rsreportserver.config i have entered the https link version but did not change anything - in RSWebApplication.config the Reportserverurltag is blank - so i did not change anything
I have a Web application in SharePoint 2013 which is HTTPS. I have powerpivot installed and it is working fine when I try to access the PowerPivot Gallery with the port number. For e.g. URL...Everything is working fine.
But when I try to accesss the same URL...without port number I am getting the error. something went wrong Could not load
subscription.CreateSyncAgentByDefault = False -- I wrote a windows service to synchronise subscription.UseWebSynchronization = True subscription.InternetSecurityMode = AuthenticationMethod.BasicAuthentication subscription.SubscriberType = MergeSubscriberType.Anonymous
Some of our subscribers have low-quality internet connections - how do I get the agent at the publisher/distributer use a slower profile - I've read How to: Work with Replication Agent Profiles (Replication Transact-SQL Programming) but can't see where you specifiy an alternate agent profile
On the distributer / publisher (same machine) I go to replication monitor -> Warnings and Agents - I can only set the profile for the snapshot agent....
How to check if web merge sync is working between a subscriber and publisher thru HTTPS ? SQL port 1433 at subscriber is blocked so no direct connection to subscriber.
I am trying to connect through ODBC connectivity, but it will not allow me to do so. I have investigated this matter. It leads me back to the server, because as I was configuring my client side database. It kept asking for the DSN(datasource name), but I was unable to choose one because there wasn't one to choose. Which is my current dilemma, How can I do this and have it available to choose from the server to satisfy the Access database?
I went to the domain where the software resides but I don't know what steps to take? I also found an interesting piece on microsoft about Kerberos, but I can't follow along according to the instructions it has. I have Access 2003 & SQL SERVER 2005, HELP...!
Basically, this is right off the heels of the install. I setup the server without the connectivity, but it is running the current configuration.
I have some questions about SQL Servers 2000 and 2005 compatibility. In my configuration I have to use both servers. The cubes are stocked in 2005 server. May I transfer from 2005 to 2000 Analysis Services the cubes?
If yes, what is the procedure? The result of migration is the same in the two different versions?
I am trying to import Access reports using Visual Studio 2005 and Access 2007. SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services is also installed. I select Reports in the Solution Explorer and then Import Reports... Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have virtual PC loaded on my machine .Everytime i try to view data in the Data Pane in Analysis Manager,it comes up with an error "Unable to browse the data(Unspecified error).I have tried restarting the DHCP services but has not no effect . Could someone please advice me.
Have 2 virtual PC's running on is the Domain Controller named as London and the other one is Brisbane which is a memebr of the domain controller. Niether the London and Brisabn are able to dispaly the data in the data pane in Analysis Manager. Please Advice.
I use the SQL Analysis Manager to create a cube and it can process successful, but when i want to browse the cube, it shows the error message: " Unable to browse the cube "my cube name", Unspecified error"
can anybody tell me what's wrong with that? thanks
I have created a cube in sql server analysis manager and now i want to give that to end user...like .exe program what are all the possible ways we can give that to the end user.....
