Mar 2, 2014I am trying to create an ssis package with dynamic csv file as output. and out format contains query output.
sample file name:
Unique identifier + query output + systemdate();
The expression is looking like this.
@[User::FilePath] + @[User::FileName] + ".CSV"
-- user filepath is a variable from ssis package. File name is the output from SQL query. using script task i have assigned the values to @[User::FileName] .
When I debugged the script task the value getting properly but same variable am using for Flafile destination. but its not working.
Dynamic Ad-hoc Reports
Jan 24, 2006Is there a way to pass parameters into the Report Builder so that the available fields of an entity can vary depending on a parameter value (for instance, a group or user id)?
We have a situation where each group of users can have a variable set of custom properties to report on and we'd like to let them access these custom properties through the Report Builder. Any suggestions on how to go about it?

Dynamic Linking Of The Reports

Can any one help me out how to dyanmically link to differnt reports ie.,
Column A
Data 1
Data 2
Data 3
On CLick on Data 1 "Report A" should be opened. On Click on Data2 "Report B" should be opened.
I tried int he following way:
In report After APrameter form i hav specified a link for Report A(On clcik of data field ). But Always it is opening only one report as i specifed. How to link Dyanamically. Allt he Data in Colum A comes from Database Dyanamically.

I am trying to write a script in VB.NET that will run a report that already exists in the system and export the results to my local machine. We are using MS Reporting Services to manage and manipulate the reports. So here's my question:
Is it possible to programmatically create a report in VB.NET based on an existing report? I noticed that crystal reports has a nice export method, but I have not been able to find anything similar for my situation. Basically I believe I would need some sort of reporting services object in .NET that would allow me to run the report and export the results. Does anyone know of such a structure, or if this is even possible? Thanks!!

once i create these reports then the user will choose columns of there choice.
so the columns may belong to multiple tables.
Now the report should get generated with the layout etc. is it possible.
since our project is totally on the webserver(webbased.)
please if you can provide me with any links with dynamic report creation wizards.
and also we only use Stored procedures via database.
which is best is writing the entire queries right behind the layouit or calling the entire logic via Stored procedure. i am a bit confused. this is my first project working on reports itself.

What i mean is,after creating a cube with a couple of dimensions and measure if is there any way to give the normal users on the report manager or report builder the freedom to choose their own dimensions/measure so they can output the report with the choosen criteria.

Object Model API For Creating RDF Reports?
Nov 14, 2007I need to create RDF files dynamically. As one example, I need to output a report that contains an OLAP table from an MDX query and will need to generate the RDL that represents the table on the fly. (Binding to a data source with any built-in control will not even come close to solving the problem. The actual requirements are extremely complex.)
In short... Rather than outputting the RDL XML the hard way is there an object model I can use to construct an RDL document with? Even if it's a bindhind-the-scenese, not-supported library?

Error Creating Subscription To Reports

I am having a HUGE issue with SSRS, I am running SQL 2005 on Win 2003 server, the SQL uses SQL and windows permissions.
I have a datasource which stores it credentials securely on the server but for some reason when i try to subscribe to the report it errors saying
"Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked server the link is no longer valid."
Beats me but the credentials are stored, I am connecting using a user account which can run the report fine (This is proven).
I have SP1 installed, and have literally tried every last option in the book.
N.B i have read all the existing post about this and i seem to have a different issue, I am not using any paraeters in the report i am trying to test and i dont use anything like USR!USERID

I'm a beginner to Report Services, and have tons of questions.
Here's the first one:
if the reports are created based on the condition that the user selects, how can I create the reports with Report Services?
For example,
the user can select the fields that will be shown on the reports, as well as the group fields, the sort fields and restrict fields. So I would not be able to pre-create all possible reports and deploy them to the report server, and I think I should create the reports dynamicly based on what the user select.
Could someone tell me how to do it (create and deploy the reports)?

How Can I Apply Dynamic Sorting For Columns In Matrix Reports

We have a matrix report which displays columns in a default sorting order. This report columns vary dynamically depending on the user input.
e.g. If user wants to see the report for column Alfa, Beta , Gama then a report will be genarted with column Alfa, Beta , Gama sorted in alphabetical order.

However the users want the Columns to be sorted in the order which they provide the inputs e.g. if the user entered Gama, Alfa, Beta the report should display the columns in the same order instead of applying the default sorting order.

Disk Usage Reports After Creating Centralized MDW
Aug 13, 2013I am having a problem with the disk usage reports after creating a centralised MDW on SQL Server 2008, this is the report displayed when you drill down onto a specific database.
When I drill down on a database on the local server to the MDW database the disk usage report is shown correctly.
However, when I drill down onto another servers database I receive the following error: A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'DS_TraceEvents'.

I have the following situation.
Our customer would like to generate a raw data export report from specific customer databases.
I have an administrative database with a customer table. In this customer table each customer has it's on specific
customerId guid.
Each customer also has it's own customer database that is named: Customer_ + guid of the customer in the admin
database (eg: Customer_982240e79f424fb0a1d4bed16267245d).
This customer database has 1 main table (dbo.Data), but the design can be different depending on the customer.
Our customer would like to have the possibility to select specific fields from the table to export to an excel file.
So i never know in advance how much fields there will be in the table.
What i want to achieve is to generate a report where i can select a specific customer from a list (from the admin database). Then be able to view all the available fields inside the table (like a dataset or something) and then let the
customer select which fields he wants in his data export report.
Can this be achieved in RS2005?

Creating A Large Dynamic View
Oct 11, 2007I have a procedure that creates a large dynamic view of several tables. The view is a union view of up to 15 tables. The table names are all <name>_DDMM where name is the standard table name and ddmm is the day and month of the tables data. The tables are created by a software supplied by another company, so I can not ensure that the tables will always have exactly the same fields or number of fields. Sometimes the company will add more fields to the tables in thier updates. So, I have to include the field names in the SQL exec command to create the query. This makes for a very long exec command and depending on the number of tables it needs to include, it can require upwards of a 16,000 character string. Obviously, this can't work, so I had to break up the variable in order to create the procedure. However, I'm wondering if there isn't a better method than creating three different 8000 varchar variables and having overflow write to the next variable in line. Especially if the number of tables needs to be expanded, it could be a problem. Is there a better way to run a create view exec command on a large number of characters?

May 28, 2014I am trying to use a first_name , Last_name and append this as username something like mike test and create username like 'Mtest@123'. and password as well.
The first_name, last_name comes from a table called "person".
Right now the user name and password is hard coded and I need to make this dynamically generated, is that possible within SQL?

Ths system is single user. One of the tables is updated by usr actions( say Table A).
To make it multi user. I want to create table such as A_Username.
How can query be written for this. Also there are many stored procedures which will access this table. In these stored procedures i will send username as an input. Then the query in the stored procedure shd access the table as A_Username .
Such dynamic table name refrencing , how can it be done.. Is creating a string for the query and then executing it using sp_exec the only option?

I have one table which holds all the information for the forms and i have another table which holds list of all the form fields. Now these two tables are mapped and that table give me list of all the fields in any forms.
To get the information about the users who filled different forms first i need to query the tblFormsToFormFields and get the list of all the fields for that form and then use that fields list in the select query to get the result.
In my report i need to provide the drop down with the list of all the forms and then display the information for all the customers for that particular form with the list of the form fields.
Is there in SSRS 2005 i can use C# or any programming language to create Columns in the report dynamically as there will be different fields for each form.
Please advice.

Creating Dynamic Text File From ASP Page ( Need Direction)
May 21, 2002I am somewhat new to DTS packages - please bear with me...
:: Overview:
From a web page, I need to create a text file on a User's mapped drive drive (note: the mapped drive is always the same and it is a drive that the IIS cannot see, and FTP is not an option here). One of the parameters I need to pass from the web page (to the DTS) is the text file name.
Currently, I have a stored procedure that creates my dataset for my text file, and I can create the text file from the web page onto the IIS server, but this does not solve my problem.
My dilemma is how do I create the dynamic text onto the mapped drive? The SQL server CAN see the mapped drive.
Can I bring together what the Stored Procedure creates AND pass thru the dataset and the dynamic name to a DTS so it can create and save the file?
Can the Stored Procedure be eliminated and it all be done via DTS?
What about passing in parameters directly to a DTS from the web page? I'm not finding much help on this portion
Any help and/or direction would be appreciated as I am on a tight deadline!

Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '[' to data type int.
I know that I have to use the [ ] in order to run the dynamic sql. I am not sure what is failing and why as the syntax seems to be clean to me (obviously it is not).
